Plesk Automation :: Brand Creation Fails If IPv6 Is Selected

Mar 26, 2015

On a new install, if I create IPv4 and IPv6 pools (one of each enabled for branding), and create a brand using "IP address"="Shared IPv4 and dedicated IPv6", it fails without an onscreen error. A webspace is created but marked "No hosting" in PPA and Failed in Hosting Panel. A DNS zone is created. At that point I can't delete the webspace from Hosting Panel and there doesn't seem to be a way to delete it from PPA, however, I can delete the DNS zone.

This is in poa.log, not sure if it's relevant:
Mar 26 09:19:20 ppa: ERR [UI:ecc45799:1427379560608 1:18157:b25ffb70 lib]: [Facade:leskResponse:arse] Plesk error 1013

Also after the DNS zone is created, the below is logged in poa.log...it doesn't seem relevant to the branding error but does seem to be a problem...

Plesk Automation :: Selected Webspaces Scheduled For Removal But Not Deleting

Mar 27, 2015

So per my other message [URL] .... we have four websites which we can't delete from PPA (Services/Websites doesn't have a way to do that) or from Hosting Panel (Webspaces says, "The selected webspaces were scheduled for removal," but they don't delete). In Hosting Panel, three have always shown as Failed and one as Pending.

The DNS zones can be deleted but they reappear if I "Apply DNS Template Changes" presumably because the websites are defined.

Plesk Automation :: Branding Not Working And Port 443 Fails

Oct 24, 2014

We have tried to add branding to our Plesk Automation install but are not having any luck.

When trying to access the branded domain it tries to redirect to https://branded-domain.com but the page fails to load, looks as though the control panel is not listening on port 443.

Even trying to access https://ip-address of CP fails but https://ip-address:8443 works fine.

If I try to telnet to the CP ip:443 it fails to connect.

Plesk Automation :: Adding Nodes - Installation Task Fails

Aug 11, 2014

I am working on a new install of PPA, and after installation on the management node Im trying to add the other nodes. Ive tried to add a Apache, Postfix, DNS & DB node, and they all have the same issue. The installation task fails with the following error:

Destination host 'node.domain.com' (#3), IP '192.168.1.*' : The operation can not be completed because the following component is missing or is not running: pleskd (sc_name '', sc_id #45)

(domain and IP are removed here, correct in the original error. The IP is a backchannel IP, and the public IP was properly set in the management node).

I've verified that pleskd was installed and is running on each node:

Code:

24710 ? S 0:00 /usr/local/pem/sbin/pleskd --props-file /usr/local/pem/etc/pleskd.props --send-signal
24712 ? S 0:00 /usr/local/pem/sbin/pleskd --props-file /usr/local/pem/etc/pleskd.props --send-signal
24714 ? S 0:00 /usr/local/pem/sbin/pleskd --props-file /usr/local/pem/etc/pleskd.props --send-signal
...

I've verified that my management node can connect to the nodes in question via 8532:

Code:
]# telnet 192.168.1.* 8352
Trying 192.168.1.*..
Connected to 192.168.1.*.
Escape character is '^]'.
^]
telnet> quit
Connection closed.

So there shouldn't be any firewall or other networking issues.

What else can I try to get this running?

Plesk 12.x / Linux :: Brand New CentOS 6.5 Server Running 12.0.18 Crashing Randomly

Aug 19, 2014

I have a brand new A8i server from 1&1 that has crashed twice today and could only be rebooted through the 1&1 control panel (not Plesk). Out of the blue the server is not accessible from the Plesk CP and is not responding to pings. I have looked through the logs and do not see anything that stands out (I am not very Linux savvy). Is there somewhere specific that I can look that would tell me why it is locking up/crashing? I have only had the server about 2 weeks and am only running email on it (no websites besides webmail and Plesk CP). It is possible that there is a hardware issue, but I cannot have 1&1 check it until after hours tonight.

Server is an 8 core Intel Atom 2.6GHz with 8GB RAM.

Plesk 12.x / Linux :: No Timezone Selected After Upgrade

Oct 18, 2014

After finishing the upgrade from 11.5 to 12.0.18 I checked the system time which was wrong and no timezone was selected ....

So I switched to my timezone (GMT +3) and corrected the clock from the above settings cause it was 5 minutes behind
saved .... since then the time is showing 1 hour later the selected one. like GMT+4.

No matter if I change it manually it returns there.

in order for the server to work correctly i changed the timezone to GMT+2. OK the time is corrected - although wrong cause it should be 1 hour earlier, but anyways Now all incoming email messages still show one hour late as received date. So I tried restarting courier-imap

# service courier-imap restart
courier-imap: unrecognized service

Plesk 11.x / Linux :: Selected Site On Default IP Via HTTPS

Jun 16, 2014

I have Plesk 11.5 installed on my server. There are about 30 sites on the same shared IP address. I need to set up a site to be accessible via https://<ip-address-of-the-server> . According to the documentation I went to Setting -> IP Addresses and selected the desired site from the drop down. Now http://<ip-address-of-the-server> (note, 80th port) works like a charm. Unfortunately https:// displays only the first page of the selected site; all CSS, JS and other files are not found (404).

I did some research and found that Nginx forwards the requests to Apache for all the PHP files and tries to handle all the static files by itself (what is expected and correct). But it looks like that there is no special configuration for nginx which would specify where to get these static files for the IP address, and Nginx just uses the first loaded config (started from b in my case).

I temporary resolved this issue by modifying the last_nginx.conf for the desired domain this way: listen XX.XX.XX.XX:443 default_server ssl;

Note I added "default_server" directive. Of course it would be erased on each reconfiguration of the config files, but as for now I do not see how I can put it in custom nginx.conf or on the server servel level. I reckon Plesk should include the directive in the file the same way as it produces last_httpd_ip_default.conf Apache config for the selected domain. It looks to be an easy fix on the template level, may be I will do it later, but for now this is just the bug report.

Plesk 12.x / Linux :: Restore Selected Objects Does Not Work For FTP Repository Backups?

Apr 9, 2015

I set up a FTP backup repository today however when attempting to restore selected objects from the backup there are a couple of messages that state:

"Restore the backup file despite a corrupted signature"

"You can select objects to restore only when you are restoring from backups that were created in Plesk 12.0 or later."

I noticed that the backup residing in the FTP repository has a .tar extension whilst the one I did in the server repository has a .xml extension.

Restoring selected objects from the server repository works fine.

Why is this not possible? I'd like to restore selected objects from the FTP repository. Otherwise I'll have to transfer the backup file from FTP repository to the server which is really inefficient.

Plesk 12.x / Linux :: IPv6 Support For Domain

Jun 29, 2015

I'm running plesk 12.0.18 on centOS 6.6 and I have some problems with ipv6 support for a domain. This is what I see in my apache logs for that domain:

2001:8d8:90b:c900::2a:19d1 - - [29/Jun/2015:17:44:55 +0200] "GET /hello.html HTTP/1.0" 404 1208 "-" "facebookexternalhit/1.1 (+http://www.facebook.com/externalhit_uatext.php)"
2001:8d8:90b:c900::2a:19d1 - - [29/Jun/2015:17:49:39 +0200] "GET /hello.html HTTP/1.0" 200 384 "-" "curl/7.19.7 (x86_64-redhat-linux-gnu) libcurl/7.19.7 NSS/3.16.1 Basic ECC zlib/1.2.3 libidn/1.18 libssh2/1.4.2"

2001:8d8:90b:c900::2a:19d1 is the ipv6 from my server, and it appears there because of nginx working as reverse proxy.

As you can see, facebook can't get /hello.html (404 response), but I can get it from another server using curl (200 response). I tried disabling nginx and this is what I see now:

2a03:2880:2110:dff3:face:b00c:0:1 - - [29/Jun/2015:17:55:11 +0200] "GET /hello.html HTTP/1.1" 404 1208 "-" "facebookexternalhit/1.1 (+http://www.facebook.com/externalhit_uatext.php)"
2001:8d8:8b3:6000::4e:c5a0 - - [29/Jun/2015:17:54:52 +0200] "GET /hello.html HTTP/1.1" 200 361 "-" "curl/7.19.7 (x86_64-redhat-linux-gnu) libcurl/7.19.7 NSS/3.16.1 Basic ECC zlib/1.2.3 libidn/1.18 libssh2/1.4.2"

Still not able to get /hello.html. This is a problem for me because I can't share anything on facebook, since their bot can't find anything on my site.

I've already configured ipv6 for my domain.

Plesk 11.x / Linux :: Firewall Has Not Effect On IPv6

May 15, 2014

Plesk Firewall has no effect on IPv6?

I am writing today regarding the Plesk Firewall. It seemed to be pretty handy for quickly blocking troublesome users from *replace-with-whatever-IP-block-is-giving-you-trouble*. Yet I am unable to block IPv6 addresses, and the fire wall seems to let some blocked IPv4s right in. I did not see any distinction as to v4 or v6 in the Firewall dialog for adding custom rules, so...

The question is...

(1) Is the Plesk Firewall *supposed* to apply rules to IPv6 by default?

If yes...

(2) Is there a setting or a switch that has to be configured for this to work?

If yes...

(3) Where are said configuration options located?

Okay, when I run /sbin/ip6tables -L (CentOS) I get output that resembles the iptables (no 6) output, only... what, converted to IP6? Not sure. Example output:

DROP tcp ::ffff:31.0.0.0/104 ::/0 tcp dpts:1:10000

In that particular instance I added a drop for the 31.0.0.0/8 block (using the Plesk Firewall interface), in order to create the script that's loaded into iptables (and ip6tables as well, apparently) when one elects to "Apply Configuration". It worked great, executed perfectly, and the iptables output list output looked to be (and remember, I have grossly insufficient background knowledge in this area) accurate.

Yet at the time of this writing I can see via live traffic monitor that an address in the 31.0.0.0/8 block (IPv4) is pounding away at a website. This is curious, as the live traffic monitor indicates an IPv4 address. So... can an IPv4 address be detected and recorded from a host that is only able to connect via IPv6? While an interesting question, I was more concerned with just blocking the IPv6 address and get more academic with it later.

But this raises another question; why would Plesk populate ip6tables and not provide an interface to actually submit IPv6 addresses.

Plesk 11.x / Linux :: Domain Name Resolve Ipv6 But Not Ipv4

2001: xxxx: x: xxxx :: 1 (dedicated) 64 0 0 eth0

therefore 187 sites under the ipv4 and ipv6 0 on..I actually do not care about ipv6, it's just for spf..I lack some knowledge with dns I think...must I do something on dns to indicate that ipv4 is that actually hosts the site? or at plesk for all requests to be redirected to the ipv6 on ipv4?

I suspect DNS template issues but I'm not that au fait with the DNS template so I don't want to start fiddling. My service provider suggested I look at [URL] ... which doesn't appear to be related as I have no duplicate domains under my subscription.

Following on from this the VPS is my personal server and I host a few sites for friends consequently I only have the one subscription. I've been advised that I should have one subscription per domain. Is that correct information?

Brand New Spam Attacks - Seems Like An Emergency

Mar 18, 2007

This afternoon I noticed a pattern of spam on several different shared hosting servers, spanning several different shared hosting providers.

The spam first takes the client's domain name, for example, plastic.com. Then adds the word "nac" to the beginning, and "gaf" to the end, making the from email address nacplasticgaf@plastic.com . If the domain were rockin.com, the email would be nacrockingaf@rockin.com . Byob.com, nacbyobgaf@byob.com, etc.

It then grabs the ip address of the website, and creates a fake header which makes the email appear to have been sent from that server.

Could some of you run this command on your servers, and let me know if anything turns up? Thanks.

grep nac /var/log/exim_mainlog | grep gaf

You could help us out by running this command:

grep nac /var/log/exim_mainlog | grep gaf > /usr/local/apache/htdocs/nacgaf.txt

then send us a link to [url]

These commands only work on cpanel machines. You'll have to manipulate the path in the commands to the logs that your MTA keeps.
