Can't Update My Payment Credit Card In Orbit At ThePlanet?
I have phoned 3 times and they have tested two different cards that I know work. For some unknown reason it can't update and shows my previous credit card. I have tried to update from Master Card to a Visa card. Has anyone of you problems updating your payment infos in Orbit? Further, I think it's strange they dont accept any other payment method. Invalid Command 'php_flag' - After Recompiling PHP & Apache?
After I recompiled Apache and PHP using easyapache from cPanel, we started getting all these weird errors. I'm getting a few people now complaining about not being able to enable register_globals. I believe (after searching) that having this enabled is a big security risk and shouldn't need to be used. However, some people apparently where using .haccess and php_flag to enable this. I did find on a few places that people can create their own php.ini file to emulate what was previously done with .htaccess? After searching around.. I found out that Register Globals can become a security risk based on the scripts configuration that uses it. This feature normally can be enabled via .htaccess using the glad "php_flag register_globals On". Creating a file called php.ini inside the directory of the site with the flag "register_globals=on" I believe will also enable this option. To enable this option on a global scale, you can edit '/usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/etc/php.ini', but its not recommended. However.. We are unable to get the php.ini concept to work. Is there something I need to do to enable/allow users to do this for their account?

I'd go w/ a hosted service, but I open allot of pop3 connections... (program I use downloads one email, closes connection, reopens... repeat)... There's lots of cookbooks out there, but they require quite a bit more time commitment (and configurability) than I want / need. Is there any dumbified installs available? I tried with webmin, but even that wants me to manually configure a postfix / imap server bridge.=

Basically a client has been getting really bad email problems with their email. They keep getting the standard qmail msg back from several emails. I originally thought this msg was being returned as it was an invalid receipients address, but they are assuring me that this is not the case? Anyway the basic msg they are getting is: Hi. This is the qmail-send program at p16489287.pureserver.info. I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses. This is a permanent error; I've given up. Also had to create a support ticket. And when it was finally delivered, there was no DirectAdmin on it. Specially disturbing, since I actually paid for a monthly license. Not to mention that their responses are very vague. They claim to apply the promotions (triple disk space, double bandwidth) 24 hours after they setup the VPS. I have no idea why they do that. Moreover, they have false advertising on their VPS page (Instant Activation..where it should read 'We don't activate your VPS unless you create a support ticket). A speedtest from the VPS showed that the VPS is capable of bursting to a maximum of 10mbps, while average speed is barely 2mbps. Stay away from these guys. They're potential scammers. They WILL scam.. sooner or later.

I am finishing up on my clients site and the ecommerce software we use has an option for search engine friendly URL's but your server must support $_SERVER['PATH_INFO'] . My client is hosted by GoDaddy and my host (HostGator) does not support it unless you go dedicated. What Is The Reverse Command For 'mount --bind'
A few days ago, when installing TUX, I have mounted the virtual hosting directory to var/www/html/mywebsite.com (that's an empty directory I created in order for TUX to work) via: mount --bind /home/virtual/site1/fst/var/www/html/ /var/www/html/mywebsite.com/ command..... After figuring out that TUX has some problems I reverted everything but not this mount --bind command.. What is the reverse command for this, so everything will come back to the point which they were before?

I am planning to build my own site, but the problem is that I still don't have a domain and a hosting site.. I wanted to buy one but they all requested for a credit card number.. I'm still a student now and unfortunately I have no credit card.. Does anyone know any other way of paying those hosting sites and registering a domain w/o using credit card or something.. Or maybe since i'm still new, should I go for free hosting then? but my site uses MySql for database, is there a free hosting site that lets you use a database?

Missed Payment With Limestone
I signed up with them for the 10mbps offer a 199 dollar server. The invoice was due on 30 and I thought they charged thru paypal subscription service. On 2nd, after three days, they suspended the server. Now my problem is taht they neversent a single email that an invoiceis due. I always get invoice email and I pay. Can't remember everything ... So Limestone guy here's how how this thing works 1. You send an invoice due email. 2. Then you send a warning that the server will be discontinued in 24 hours. 3. Then you suspend the server. This is how planet does, this how softlayer does it and this is everyone does, nothing special in this.

We work with a hosting provider in Sweden. We rent a dedicated server there. The traffic was uneven, from time to time. Sometimes there was no traffic, and sometimes it reached 90Mbit. We bought a configuration with 10,000Gb. Now they sent us the traffic invoice. That has 18Tb if to count according to the 95% system. And in total we used about 12Tb. We didn’t know they counted according to 95%, that wasn’t mentioned in the agreement, it said only about 400sek per TB excluding VAT***. That’s why we thought that we had to pay exactly for the used traffic because if to count according to the 95% system, which means it’s counted per a channel, and the agreement informed only about the Tbs.

WireSix.com - Holding Servers And Payment Hostage
I had two servers with wiresix, for the most part support was OK (not the best, but not really bad) and Ryan was responsive to AIM and emails. At one point I no longer needed my dedicated server with them as I had moved everything over to my Colo server. I submitted a ticket to cancel the server (i gave 45 days) and request confirmation from them which I never got. AS the time got closer for that server to go away I started getting longer and longer response times to IM and support. Because of this I felt the need to cancel my colo box and get it shipped to a DC by me as not to be left stranded by a host that didnt care. I submitted another cancellation request (about 6 weeks in advanced) and again got no response. About this time the dedicated server was supposed to go offline. I got invoiced and charged for it so I opened another ticket asking for a refund for a server that had been canceled. No responses, on anything. Now it comes time for the colo box to be taken offline... I requested it be taken offline and shipped out a little bit earlier then the actual date. I provided shipping information. I also noted they can use the payment that should have been refunded to cover the shipping costs. This was the first of April. I am borrowing a server from a coworker for my customer who is supposed to be on the colo server. No big deal right, borrow a server for a few days and then move the customer back to the new server...Right? Wrong. As of this date Ryan still has all my servers online, in the rack and will not even respond to my tickets or AIM. I cant even get in touch with him (or the rest of wiresix) to allow a friend of mine to goto the datacenter and pick up the server. The refund? Who knows... At this point I am convinced Ryan is angered that I am leaving and is hold my colocated server and my payment hostage. I have no other explanation. I have attached an image file (with some information whited out) with the tickets and the last response times intact. Please I urge everyone DO NOT USE WIRESIX. If you do, do not ever cancel or you will never see your hardware. At this point, I do not think I have any other choice but to contact my lawyer or the Atlanta Police department for the theft of my hardware.

3rdrockhosting Holding Refund Payment Hostage
I signed up for 3rd Rock Hosting's smallest plan and pre-paid a year because it was inexpensive and after EpicVPS's server magically deleted everything I had no reason to use a bigger host as my data was gone and my most recent backup was too old to do me much good. The account got set up immediately, however there were problems such as my bandwidth allocation and number of email accounts and such were half of what they were quoted to be on the webpage. Ok, got a ticket in and got that sorted out no problem. Then, something happened to 3rd Rocks upstream host and the site was down for two days about two weeks into hosting. They've had this problem before and I knew about it and decided to chance it. Bad decision I guess. A week ago or so I got an email telling me to change my DNS as they moved to a new server. What? New name servers? Ok. I use my own DNS but updated the A records to the new IP's. This is where the trouble began, once everything resolved I could access my panel but none of my pages load! It just loads a blank screen and even view source doesn't show any of my php pages. I logged into the account via FTP and sure enough my files/data are there.. just nothing loads. Not having to want to deal with this headache I politely asked my account be canceled and the 30 day refund honored. I was greeted by Mark asking if I changed my nameservers and when I told him I had modified my nameservers to reflect the new IP's he offered me two free months. I stated that with the trouble I've had in the last 30 days; going past the 30 day trial would give me no 'out' if more trouble occurred. Mark stated he'd give me a refund 'ASAP'. This was Sept 1st. There's been no refund and I've shot off two more questions in the support ticket without answers. My 30 day 'guarantee' ends in just a few more days so I'm trying to get this done before hand of course. I'm -> <- this close to filing a paypal complaint and escalating it. Being incommunicado with me for 2 days while you scrounge up $20 bucks is baffling.

I currently have one server at The Planet, paying 147/mo. Anyone know if they have any options to pay every 6 months at a slightly discounted price? I have no plans to move, so figured I'd look if I have that option to save money. Geek Rack - 8 Days After Payment, No Sign Of Server
I paid for a server with GeekRack.net 8 days ago, and have seen no sign of the server being setup. Now I know they are just a Burst.net reseller, they don't own or order the hardware or even have physical access to the servers, they simply get 25% off Burst.net and just resell their servers. That said you'd expect at least some sort of notification on when the server would be ready by, especially by now, right?

Paypal Dispute With Worldstream For Server Not As Described
Ok here is the scenario. Day 1 - Ordered server, agreed price and spec and installation date. Quoted 3 days setup time. Day 3 - I was told need an extra day to setup this I said is fine. Day 4 - server is setup but is missing 2 drives and only has half the ram I ordered. I email them to tell them this. Day 6 - They finally respond to my email and tell me they have fixed the missing drives and ram they also offer me 10 days free as compensation. The problem is now the server is completely down, doesnt even respond to ping. Day 7 - I email them to tell them server down and I now want a refund, I offer to accept a partial refund to compensate them for manual work involved in setting up server. (412 euros paid 350 euros refund), this offer made in goodwill so resolve quickly. 2nd proposal sent later for only 300 euro refund. Day 9 (today) - No reply whatsoever and server still offline I raise a paypal dispute and within 1 hour I get a email telling me they agree to my 2nd proposal (only 300 euro refund) however they want me to cancel paypal dispute first. I have read the paypal dispute policy and I see if I were to cancel the dispute and they then not refund me I have nothing since I cannot reopen the dispute, whilst if he were to refund me and I was to try and scam him he would have a strong case as paypal have the refund logged so he has far less to worry about. So I am not cancelling the dispute and even offered to set it to 300 euros but he says if I dont cancel the dispute I get no refund. Just want to know peoples thoughts on this, consider I never have had the server I ordered working, its currently completely down and he was ignoring me until I raised the dispute which doesnt put his trustworthyness very high. Major Paypal IPN Problem
Paypal started sending me notices that it was unable to connect to my IPN (I'm using modernbill v4) yet I used it without a problem for 3 years. The sent this message in response to my support inquiry: I have had the IPN logs checked and show that, on recent transactions, your Web server returned an HTTP 200 OK on some of the transactions. Transactions were pulled from: Date: Fri, 04 Jan 2008 15:00:09 GMT and Date: Thu, 03 Jan 2008 22:20:48 GMT The reason that you are receiving the E-mail in question is due to your server not responding with an HTTP 200 OK rsponse. When this happens, the PayPal system attempts to resend the IPN POST for up to four days at which time the E-mail in question is generated to inform the merchant of issues with the IPN script. This issue is not a PayPal issue, but is rather caused by your server's response to IPN POSTs sent to the IPN Script. Can someone please help me trace this problem? Can anyone help me explaining how I could access my sister's paypal account through LINUX VPS (is it possible) from BANGLADESH? I wanted to buy a VPN but it is more or less the same price for a VPS. US Based Datacenter Accepting PayPal?
I am looking for hosting with following parameters: - US-based (preferably datacenter owner, not sub-leaser) - Accepts PayPal - Offers KVM over IP or some kind of console-BIOS-level access (Need it for linux kernel rebuilds, OS [re]installation etc.) The only one I found that accepts PayPal is Sharktech, but it don't offer KVM over IP . Is there a good directory that lists datacenters with their business parameters? I found this site datacentermap-dot-com but it just lists datacenters on map and is not very useful for searching.

Paypal IPN Emails Delayed By 2 Days
I have just recently moved a site over to my VPS, everything is working fine except for Paypal IPN Emails which arrive in my inbox 2 days after the sent timestamp, I have had 5 which have come through on time, this has led me to think it may be a problem with my VPS settings, however the host SolarVPS have checked the logs and can see nothing wrong, and have asked me to speak with Paypal as they are unable to explain it. I just wondered if anyone here has seen a problem like this, where it only affects one sender. I have looked to see if others have had this from Paypal before, and seen many issues but not this one in particular.

FSCKVPS Account Suspended (Stay Away From Paypal Subscriptions With Them)
Hi all. If you are a FSCKVPS member then be aware that you should NOT pay your invoices using their Paypal subscriptions. Here's my story: My first monthly payment I made using a regular Paypal payment. Everything was ok. So I created a subscription the next month and was immediately billed by Paypal. Interestingly my invoice was still marked "UNPAYED" in the fsckvps system. So I opened a support ticket (10 days ago now). They forwarded it to their "Billing Level 2" departement and told me that they have problems processing Paypal payments that are subscriptions. Days went by and nothing happened. I received emails that my payment was overdue so I asked them again to please mark the invoice as "PAYED". Nothing happened. Until yesterday they suspended my account!!! Ever since I'm trying to get my account back online. I even payed the invoice again (!!!) using a regular Paypal payment but that didn't help anything except that I'm paying twice for no service now. Nobody seems to care. I opened another ticket with support, hoping that another departement might be more helpful but the ticket was just again forwarded to "Billing Level 2". There's no phone number or anything to contact them. It's a shame, because I like their service and the technical support personnel has always been a great help to me. But not their billing people. Driver License And Credit Card With PayPal Payments?
When paying for my server, I prefer to pay with PayPal. Is it normal when I want to pay with PayPal (if they except this), the hosting company also wants my CC number and CVV2 code. What's the use then of paying with PayPal. I don't mind to identify myself with copies of driver licences, but CC is different story.

Reliable Dollar Hosting With Cpanel And Paypal Billing
I am on a very fixed budget, and I'm looking for a reliable host I can host my domain on. I am familar with cpanel already, I was once a VPS owner, until I could no longer afford a VPS after I lost my job so I'm on the hunt for $1 hosting that I can pay for once a year using paypal so I don't have to risk loosing my site again. I had a $25/mo VPS with a very nice hosting provider, but could not afford to keep the host, so 2 days late on my bill, and they deleted my VPS just like that! I lost everything! 15 years of work down the drain in 2 seconds! oh I was so pissed!! I mean, yeah I should have had a local backup, but the problem was, my Computer was in the shop, and the guy who repaired my computer formatted my backup drive, which I was pissed about that too. Can you believe it? lost a job, and 15 years of programming and design work down the drain in 2 seconds. Even if that host offered me a FREE VPS for life, I still wouldn't accept it. I mean that was rediculus that they couldn't restore even an old backup for me. better then no site at all, ya know? For awhile after that, I thought about giving up on having my own website, but then I thought, well I need a presence, a wordpress blog or something, so I started looking around. I found a few places that offered $1 hosting, which didn't seem like too bad of an idea, I could probably swing $10 once a year.
