I have an Xitami server and am migrating to apache httpd. I have the regular server working fine. I tried configuring ssl, but no requests are coming through. I know 443 is open on the router because it works fine under Xitami. I checked the logs and it si starting fine. I am attaching my httpd.conf and the startup log. If I try to access the website using https, it just times out and nothing goes in the log file. I replaced my domain with domain.com. I have tried many different examples, but cannot get it to work and am not sure what to do.
I was on a 100mbps shared port with a dedicated server from FDC and I use it only for downloads. The downloads took a little long to start but once they did, were as fast as they could be.
Thinking this was definitely a shared bandwidth problem, I ordered a dedicated port of 25mbps from FDC to fix it but it seems to have gotten worse.
The website uses around 10/15mbps but it takes forever for the server to respond. Even logging into cPanel takes around 40/50 seconds for the dialog box to appear but everything is fast once I log into my cPanel.
I also hired a sys admin to look into the server and He says everything is fine. I don't know what to do. I could increase my port bandwidth higher but it'll be disappointing if I do and it's just a waste of bandwidth (and money!)
I recently contacted 'theprimehost' with some pre-sales questions about their service.
However I received no replies, so posted on their forums in hope to get a reply from Darrell. However I found that the thread was removed. The questions I asked were as below:
1. Can I host MODx/Textpattern on Primehost space? 2. Do I get access to mod_rewrite / SSH with your account? (As an individual and as reseller) 3. How much do you charge for a dedicated IP? 4. Do you oversell or allow overselling with reseller accounts? How is the bandwidth calculated? 5. How can I monitor the uptime of your servers? 6. Is domain alias enabled? 7. Does mail enable me to set vacation auto-replies? 8. How frequently do you backup data? 9. Do you accept payments for 2 years at a time? 10. I didn't find information about your datacenter on the site. Can you please tell me more about it? 11. Can I avail of the 20% discount in addition to the 2 for 1 offer? Till when are these two offers valid?
I wonder why nobody at 'theprimehost' bothered to reply to my queries and deleted the thread so promptly. Anybody knows whats up with the guys? I have seen great reviews about them on the forum so this was unexpected.

Ive always thought that I knew the DNS principles, but now something really strange is going on.
I have one domain (hosting.com), which runs the nameservers: ns1.hosting.com = server1 ns2.hosting.com = server2 ns3.hosting.com = server3 ns4.hosting.com = server4
And a lot of normal domains: client1.com and client2.com. These domains have ns1.hosting.com, and ns2.hosting.com configured as nameserver. Hosting.com also had these configured.
The situation above worked well. Server3 and 4 were not used at all.
The problems started when I migrated hosting.com to use server3 and server4. I transfered the zonefiles of hosting.com to these servers, and edited the WHOIS info to reflect these changes. This worked: hosting.com was working from server3 and server4.
10 mins later the first downtime-message came in. Client1.com could not resolve. A quick check using dig showed why: l.gtld-servers.net [192.41.162.30] ns3.hosting.com. ns4.hosting.com.
Somehow the root servers think that the client1.com and client2.com domain also have changed nameservers. But those are not changed, the wois info still points to ns1 and ns2.
So in some strange way the root servers now return ns3 and ns4 for all domains that use ns1.hosting.com & ns2.hosting.com in their WHOIS. I alway thought that the root servers got their info from the whois info of the domain. (Or better said: the registar). Why do the root servers return ns3 & ns4, while ns1 and ns2 are configured?
One of our accounts has been suspended by Dotable.
It is under quota for diskspace and bandwidth and has been paid for in advance.
Dotable will not respond to the ticket asking why the account has been suspended and what we have to do to get it back up.
I have posted on the Dotable forum (in the 'Dotable Support Forum) about this but nobody has replied (I can't link to it because I don't have more than 5 posts).
Has anyone got any suggestions about what I can do to find out why the account has been suspended and how to get it back up if Dotable doesn't reply?
its not actually my domain but the other day an older lady contacted me frustrated because she had lost her login info for her dog kennel site. She tried for over a month to get a hold of the company but no one returns her calls or emails. She contacted me to see if there was anything I could do. The first thing I did was fire off an email and call the number I was given. Left a msg to call me back, waited a few days sent another email and made another phone call...nothing. So I did some sniffing around and found the company had changed names to Black Wire Marketing (from teknon media). So I sent emails to them and made phone calls....it was the same phone system as the previous number.
My question is this, is there any protocol for recovering a website or more importantly the domain, if the hosting company has left town? The original site definitely resembles a flyby night reseller setup and not one that had a lot of thought put into it, wreaks of IM (why do IM people think they make good hosting service providers?).
After setting up some e-mail accounts over the plesk gui I tried to connect via a mail software (like thunderbird).
This failed with every combination of settings I tried. So I checked if the POP3/IMAP services are running correctly using telnet.
I connected using the following command:

As posted in a previous thread I noted how I have been hosting with GeekStorage. After a little bit of investigation I found that a total of 593 (possibly more) website where being hosted on the same server as mine. I'm not sure if this is overselling but because I'm new to all this but I'm pretty sure it is.
Now, I'm looking on switching from GeekStorage to someone who doesn't oversell. I would be fine with 10-20GB of storage and >150GB bandwidth. Budget is 5-10$ a month.
so for over 3 weeks now pc-core.net had some problems with their servers and my accounts were just lost and no one answers my support tickets they just erase them, they disabled my account to support so i can only submit support tickets and click the link on the email.
they told me to email cshelpdesk.com to get my account moved to a new server and cshelpdesk is just telling me im SOL. they dont have access to the server i was at and basically to F off.
is there anything i can do? im basically just being ignored and they dont even have a number to them.
I am using Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition SP1 and i have recently set the computer up to 4GB RAM. I notice a problem occur error :
When I start the computer, Bios detected all 4GB Ram. However, i have checked Total physical memory in General (My Computer-> Properties) doesnot detect all 4GB Ram. it only detect 3GB Ram.
I have checked that this OS support up to 32GB . Why it doesn't detect all 4GB ? What happen to it?

Yesterday we registerd and created 2 domains in our server. Everything is ok, files uploaded, dns zones created, httpd virtual host created...
The problem is that trying to browse the site trough http://www.site.com redirects me to [url] my main server IP address, this page shows a cPanel Welcome message.
But, using [url], the site is loaded ok, withouth any problems.

The email of my client doesnt receive certain emails from certain accounts, including my yahoo.com.ph account. After several tries I received this error instead.

I configured monit to send me email alerts when apache is using too many resources but I cannot receive email alerts. I use Qmail. As for syslog, there is this message:

I tried to add for server name the name used in MX record but with the same result. Btw: other things configured in cron (eg. RKHUNTER) send me alerts OK.
I'm on windows vista. I've got an SDSL line into the house with a dedicated IP 62.etc. I've then got a Prestige 791R and all PC's plugged in to that. I've also got a wireless router for my Wii set up.
Basically I've set up this DHCP thingy to start at 192.etc.3 and the Wireless router is at 192.etc.1 and the Prestige is at 192.etc.2 my pc is at 192.etc.9
This is about where my knowledge stops unfortunately.
I have installed apache as the most basic default install I think you can and it seems to be working absolutely fine. I'm assuming I could also install PHP and MySQL etc and wouldn't have too much of a problem, however, my friend cannot seem to access the environment from the WAN IP and when I type in my WAN IP I get the prestige router's control panel.
I read somewhere that I needed to forward port 80, now I can 'open' ports in the prestige control panel but I did try opening port 80 in the control panel and pointing it to my LAN IP (92.etc.9) but it didn't seem to work.
I'm at a bit of a loss so if anyone could point me in the right direction I would be most grateful, just to clarify:

I have a remote XP PC: 172.16.1.5 OpenVPN connection with route added for 192.168.2.0/24 to go via the VPN
Now on the other end the network consists of:
I have a OpenVPN server inside the lan on 192.168.2.245 Its default gateway is 192.168.2.1
I have 3 Windows Servers, 192.168.2.246, 247 and 248. All gateways are set to 192.168.2.1.
I have a ethernet router on the network, 192.168.2.1, it has a route added for 192.168.0.0/16 to go via 192.168.2.245, and route added for 172.16.0.0/24 to go via 192.168.2.245 also). the 192.168.0.0/16 is incase any other LANs are connected at a later date, if computers saw any packets not on the the 192.168.2.x subnet they would be routed to the default gateway which would then pass them to the OpenVPN router.
The trouble is, i can remotely connect and ping to the OpenVPN router fine and also the ethernet router, however when i ping any of the Windows boxes it times out. But i can open up Remote Desktop and connect to the windows box without problem, infact if i am running 'ping 192.168.2.246 -t' it will suddenly come alive but only after the RDP connection is made.
Is this something funny with the routing? I want to keep the OpenVPN server internal to the network and i appreciate it is hitting the ethernet router then being passed to the OpenVPN but something is weird as it fires up RDP fine but not ping. No firewalls are enabled on any of the boxes. If i log into ssh on the OpenVPN router or ethernet router i can ping from that to the windows boxes fine.
Its as if a ICMP redirect is issued, and all is well after the 1st connection. Not too sure but could anyone be kind enough to enlighten me?
My server which runs cPanel (license issued touchsupport) is having problems with handling emails.
I use an external DNS provider (editdns.net) only for this 1 particular domain for handling many Records and such. Through their panel, I have added my mail server's record, i.e. "mailserver.tld".
Now there is a problem with one part of the email issue. I have email piping setup and 1 webmail account setup too. These two work flawlessly. No issues with them. But email forwarding and default address doesn't work.
I am confident that the email settings are working right because, when my clients send an email, piping works and my support system creates a new ticket. But the email forwarding/Default EMail doesn't.
Not just that, I cannot even connect to the webmail account I created via POP3. I 100% sure that I used the correct login credentials and also tried the "+" and ":" for the username part. Just doesn't work. But I can access and read my emails via the Webmail (squirrelmail).
All the videos have been uploaded to << link removed >> and in there you will seea flash_video directory, in there should be a html file where you can double click and watch the flash video.
Now go ahead and try it, click on the HTML file and click CONTINUE and try clicking on MODULE 1.. You will see a video play to the left but on the right are bunch of POWERPOINT slides that will appear as the guy continues to speak. THAT DOESNT SHOW..

Before someone asks about uploading methods, i tried filezilla, coreftp and cuteFTP using both ASCII and binary methods. Samething..
where when I view my website through http using Firefox, it never stops loading. If I use IE, then I get a "page can not be displayed" error.
If I use https then everything works fine.
I have noticed that if I delete lines from the files, I don't have this problem.
If I try viewing images (so I know it can't be an html of php problem) some look fine (the very small files). But, larger files, around 168 kb, load halfway and the second half is distorted (green and purple chunks and other random colors and lines).
If I view the image through https, the image is perfectly fine!
If I put my site through w3.org's validator (just to see what it would report) it says "500 Line too long (limit is 4096)".
My website used to work, so I know there isn't any code in the pages that would cause this to happen.
Is there an Apache setting I check? Perhaps it is sending a really long header that I can not see? I am not really sure what to do. I have made my site to force https but it's slow and not signed.

I contacted the support Team but they told me its working Fine , but for me and some members its not working all the time.
We are facing with a strange issue about URLs. At any web site in our reseller account in php pages when we add http:// or http%3A%2F%2F to the URL as a query string server returns Internal Server Error 500.
For example when I try to access such page /index.php?q=http%3A%2F%2F[url] or /index.php?q=[url]I get this error. Is there any misconfiguration about PHP or Apache at server or what can we do to solve this problem?
