Epicvps.com Small Review Fast Refund

Apr 29, 2008

I joined epicvps on 28-April-2008 and on 29 the same month I asked a refund minus 1$ for almost 2 days of use (him refunded me the full amount I paid).

The VPS was 28.49 because I used a coupon for the first month.

I paid 28.49$ because I also wanted a server hardening optimization and security settings against crackers.

The speed was ok, the VPS access was given to me in less than 6 hours from the payment time.

Ray called me after 2-3 hours after the server was up to ask me about the service, was a nice gesture from his part, also informed me that I can call him if I have a emergency related to the VPS.

I never used his ticketing system, all his replies where under 3 hours.

Him also tried to convince me to remain by using his services 1 more month and to refund me this month but I refused because I don't trust him 100% percent, after 1-2 years from now on, if it will still be there and the customers will be satisfied I will buy another VPS from him.

epicvps has a template for LxAdmin DNS that I did not found on a other company that I don't want to mention because today I use there services (shared).

After chating with Ray on epicvps online support I understood how to set-up the DNS using the 2 IP's that him gave to me.

The reason of the refund was a downtime of 42 minute on 29-April 2008, 1 or 2 packet loss from the checkers, I use Pingdom in the present, checking at 1 minute interval.

I had a nice conversation with the owner Ray Amaresh, is from India, I was afraid that I will not get the refund and I can't do anything.

When I chosen his company I did not checked his location, only server location, and that is a datacenter in Dallas.

Ray refunded me in less than 10 minutes from the chat.

I told him that I will probably come back if the service quality will improve and I will because I like people correct peoples and I hate scammers.

I don't like to asks for refunds because I want always quality in what I buy, probably was a datacenter problem, not his fault but up-time is very important for me.

If Ray will allow me I will use a checking service in the future for his main website to show to others the quality of the server where the main site is: ping (network), http checking.

Low prices does not seem to be from overselling but because there are not 20-30 people working 24/24 so you can get a low cost if you have less people but good in what they do.

I hope that I did not forgot anything if I did I wait for Ray replay to complete the review.

The conclusion is:
Ray the owner of epicvps is a great person and I hope that the money that him will make will not change his behavior.

It is a genuine review, I tell the good and the bad VPS service parts.

EpicVPS Review

Apr 25, 2008

I'm sure you have all seen his threads if not the search button is your friend

So I posted some pretty hefty questions in his thread in the reviews section. The owner himself contacted me personally, he explained his network to me, some great features he's got cooking. So I took the bait, he had me hooked. I bought his mid-level plan, figured ok cool "Lets put him to the test" got my VPS in about 4 minutes, running. I thought ok cool this is pretty nice so far. Jumped into the root, did some WGETing around - decided ok whats a good fast mirror to really put his bandwidth to the test.

Thats right, its faster then every single dedicated server I have ever been with my entire life.

That was so fast, I minimized putty for a moment to change something and as I reopened it, it was done. Basically I about crapped myself, so then I went ahead and started running some apps, sure enough his 16 gig, Quad Xeon core server ran without a hitch. Everything I tossed at it opened instantly and responded as if it was my own personal computer.

So if anyone is looking to give a VPS a shot - I really recommend trying out EpicVPS first - he treats you right, and the product is worth double what he charges.

This is my first review, I give this company a stamp of approval I work in a professional market doing technical support. I work with high perfomance servers all day this takes the cake.

Short Review On Epicvps

Jul 7, 2008

I have been with epicvps for past 3 months we are under un-managed plan, but the staff have been pretty supportive than we had actually anticipated its almost like being under a semi-managed service

There hasn't been long down time on our vps so far and the service has pretty good for the cheapest prices they offer around
Usually most of their live support staff have good knowledge about sales and support which is an additional advantage for any one who would wish to join their service

not to mention their speeds its been great

Though I wouldn't like to interpret my domain over here, I am more than pleased to announce I am very happy to announce their excellent service

We had earlier worked with 2 other non-managed vps services, which were no more than ordinary but epic has been fantastic

We are looking forward for a longer healthier relationship with epicvps

My suggestion on epic :Go for it,one of the best I have seen around

I had searched for a long time for reliable and cheaper vps and I am glad I am at the right place for it

Good work epic team hope you could maintain your standard may be increase your standard even more to reach the peak

EpicVPS.com - 1 Week Review

Jul 7, 2008

Well I'm a week into my Entry level VPS with EpicVPS.

My VPS was deployed within about 30 minutes of ordering including LXAdmin. This was pretty darn fast and I have no qualms there.

Upon logging into my shell the first thing I did was run yum update -y, which updated a stack of packages. This leads me to believe that the image that Epic is using is a little older, but no big deal.

Here comes the first problem:
upon updating, the 'udev' package got installed which really borked my /dev/ directory. I re-launched Apache and it barked about /dev/urandom being missing.

So I re-created it with MAKEDEV. This fixed Apache. Though then I logged out of my SSH session and back in to find my tty/pty's were missing (thanks udev!). I had to re-create these via OpenVZ's terminal. However, upon reboot of the server the whole /dev/ directory went wonky again (UDEV! GRR).

I finally removed the udev package (leaving all of it's dependencies on the server) to restore order to my /dev/ directory. I'm not entirely sure where the fault lay with that one.

Second problem: Upon hardening my install with apf/bfd I come to find my iptable modules are missing. I put in a support ticket which gets a response within an hour that they are looking into it. The following morning the modules got moved to my VPS and I could now harden my install.

My only other qualm is that sometimes I'll try and visit my webpage and it will be unresponsive and require a refresh to load the website. But mon.itor.us would lead me to believe there has been no down time and the latency from it's servers to my VPS have been extremely low. This may be my ISP at home, routing inbetween us or some other entity.

In short: I'm relatively happy thus far. The udev thing would be nice to get sorted out so next time that update comes down I won't be in the same situation. They should also figure out why their VPS images are deploying without those kernel modules as well.

So far I give them a . I still have another week to trial the service before I lose my ability to use their money back guarantee. But as long as the service remains in it's current condition I see no reason to need to use it.

Review: A2b2 / Cheapvps / Epicvps / VAServ Group

Nov 25, 2008

So... let's start my review, shall we?

I came into VPS business with EpicVPS, both Amaresh and Raghev (if im right), are excellent persons. Always helped me a lot and their service was overall great.

After some disasters xD, EpicVPS was sold to VAServ. I thought: Okay... maybe it's time to move BUT I should definitely wait a few months and watch how this is going to be.
So, stayed as a client.

I dont know how much months have passed, maybe 6? Dunno, but I do have to say a few things about Russell's company, VAserv.com:

I had some billing problems, specially when they changed to the other software, but all this was solved with screenshots (not that they doubt, just wanted to keep it clear), and in no time, I had it fixed. (Also had one billing issue, for some other reasons, which was solved and today Vladimir just made my day.. heh, not that he offered anything, but telling me kind words... made me feel good. )

Loads... Everyone knows that when you're using a VPS, sometimes you have some stupid users abusing the server , this way you'll get affected as well.

Happened a few times, and I was telling them it wasn't my VPS, etc etc (I've a pretty big vps, and always monitored so I can be sure that everything is running smoothly, this is also pretty secured). I didn't like when they once restarted my vps without asking, and load issue was still there. Again a few days later, they restarted again, like it was my problem. (And figured later that wasn't, but it happens!).

Anyway, this was solved, and their staff was really helpful on this, being really decent with me, just like it SHOULD BE in EVERY company.

Uptime... What can I say, it's true the VPS was rebooted a few times, but, besides that, it's great.

Staff... Always helpful, an extremelly fast support and lovely staff! Just like... hum, Kody, Vladimir... both awesome. (I consider them like business-friends. Honestly, they have helped me A LOT).

It's true that there are a few of them that still need some work heh, but overall, it's really really good.

Support... Extremelly fast and efficient! Top notch. Never saw a company like this.

Hardware... Top notch, NEVER had a disk issue, or something like that. Just like a dream!

Network... PERFECT. But really, just PERFECT. I'm living in Portugal, and I've about 40/50 ms to UK (I choosed UK, but they have other locations), the network is really fast (downloading at 1.7 mb/s from my home, no download accellerators). Also, never had a single downtime.

Billing... Good billing software now. Pretty organised, and simple. I like to keep it simple, easy to use. (And yes, I know that ubbersmith is a COMPLETE software xD)

Price... Excellent. I don't find any place with better prices. Even if I someday find one, I still WON'T move.

Other Issues... Had 2 IP's listed on SBL, reported it, and they already knew, then 2 weeks after the issue was solved. (Yeah yeah 2 weeks, but I emailed SBL and they didn't even answered me , so, vaserv did a great job.)

They just got me as a loyal client, and won't leave them for sure! Rus, great job!
I guarantee you that if you join them, you'll have an excellent service.

Overall:
Uptime: 10/10
Staff: 10/10
Support: 10/10
Price: 10/10
Total: 10/10

What do I want them to get better? Please... just keep providing this quality service.
Join them.

(Domain will be verified as I will submit through the Report button.)

Steadfast.net Review - Ended Up With Refund

Nov 26, 2008

I would like to share my 8 day experience with Steadfast.net.. while it end up with me with a refund, I still highly recommend Steadfast.net as the refund was through no fault of theirs

I asked Steadfast.net several pre-sales question and they responded very quickly despite I was just window shopping. Satisfied with the information I received, I signed up for a Basic Plan with them on the 19th of Nov.

Turn of events:

1. I set up Prestashop shopping cart on Steadfast.net, everything worked

2. Turned on Friendly URL in Prestashop, not working

3. Sent a ticket to ask if URL Rewrites were enabled, answer was yes

4. Installed a script to test URL Rewrite on/off, confirmed it was on

5. Troubleshooted myself, spent hours, reading Prestashop forum

59Box A Small Review

Apr 9, 2009

I want to make a small review of 59Box , chinese hosting company that i pleased to work with for last period.

I needed a dedicated server placed in China and started to search the web . I did a few conversations mostly on messenger with a few companies , but it was very strange for me that they sometimes even didn't knew to answer my very simple questions about upload/download speed limitation, trial period, they clients web sites for test connection etc. So i found it not so easy to find some professional loooking company with good and quick support in China.

After of few days of searching in forums i found 2 recomendations, one is for 59Box and second is for HiChina so i contacted them both.

I was amazded by very quick response from 59Box and started my conversation with them. Ken , this is the name of guy who helped me all the way , answered my questions extremely fast , and all of them was cleared . Hichina answered on the next day , also with very good and detailed mail , sample contract attached etc . But i seen no reason to try them cause Ken's proposal was good for me and I liked his support.

I paid by Paypal and my server was ready in 24 hours as promised by Ken. Since then it's running with no problems. Line is very good for my needs. Latency is good and connections is stable.

So i'll recommend this company to everybody who looking for server in china with great support and good prices.

EuroVPS Small Review

Oct 28, 2009

Just a small note from me about my experiences with EuroVPS, I transferred to them from Siteground Shared Hosting about 1 1/2 years ago, I run a fairly busy vbulletin forum, I say it's 'busy' because siteground said my site was consuming too many resources and they basically gave me 7 days to upgrade to their VPS or they said they would shut my site down, so I promptly transferred to EuroVPS.

The transfer went fairly smoothly and my site was up and running in no time at all, this whole VPS thing was totally new to me so the WHM and Plesk things etc. were like toys at xmas, albeit a bit confusing, naturally I had a few tickets in the beginning asking how this and that worked, their response time was phenomenal, I don't think I have ever had to wait longer than 15 minutes for a response. I have opened a total of 20 tickets so far.

Since then I have had the occasional ticket regarding problems and questions from my side and they have always been polite and have always solved my issues 100%. About 6 months ago there was a bit of an issue with regards to the transfer of my domain name that hadn't gone through from siteground to EuroVPS which caused my site to go down. A few tickets later and we managed to figure out what the problem was between us, believe it or not but EuroVPS actually phoned me at home to apologise for the confusion, in my opinion that is oustanding customer service and damn decent of them to go to all the trouble they went to and then still phone me.

Fantastic guys on their support team and in the Accounts department, I have nothing but praise for them, especially Sam M, Jeff D and Eugene K, thank you guys for top notch support.

A Small Review Of Various VPS Providers I Have Tried

Oct 18, 2007

Here is my mini review of the various hosting providers I have tried in the past 3 months.

1. vpsfarm.com

A. Setup: Instant. The server was setup in about 3 mins after I paid.

B. Stability: Excellent. I tried various operating systems from their control panel. Not a single issue. The server was very stable. The control panel was also very stable.

C. Support: I am a self made server admin and as such, I do not need much support. The few support tickets I sent were answered to the point and promptly by Selvaraj and his crew. They really know their technical stuff to keep the whole setup running smoothly. Excellent.

D. Speed: The server speed was fast and the site loaded fast. No problems.

Rating: Excellent.

2. jpstream.net

A. Setup: The account [a shared hosting acct] was setup in 18 hrs after I paid.

B. Stability: Excellent. The control panel [plesk] is very stable and the server ran smoothly.

myipneighbors.com showed 110 other sites on the same server but my site loaded fast. Mysql performance was also good. That probably indicates that the server was not overloaded.

C. Support: Fair. Support tickets took a while to be answered. The time varied from anything between an hour to a max of 8 hrs.
The responses were mostly to the point but in a few cases indicated that they replied without reading my ticket fully.

d. D. Speed: The server speed was fast and the site loaded fast. No problems.

However, the greatest annoyance: Their email setup does NOT allow mails from free email services to be received. All mails from gmail, hotmail, yahoo and rediff are blocked.

Support did NOT want to fix that.

Rating: Bad. Many people have free email addresses and blocking emails from such people is nonsense. Also, I cancelled with them but till now I have not recd a refund. Bad.

3. Zone.net

A. Setup: The server was setup in about 2 hours after I paid.

B. Stability: Excellent. Not a single issue. The server is very stable. The control panel is also very stable.

C. Support: I am a self made server admin and as such, I do not need much support. The few support tickets I sent were answered to the point and promptly. These people are also very good technically to keep their servers running very smoothly. Excellent.

D. Speed: The server speed was fast and the site loaded fast. No problems.

Rating: Excellent.

4. xeneurope.co.uk

A. Setup: The server was setup in about 15 mins after I paid. Infact Adam did a cutom plan for me.

B. Stability: The HyperVM is unstable. Diskspace and memory display on the control panel are totally incorrect and misleading.

The Ubuntu template crashed the server after a day, while the opensuse and debian templates have a big problem - after you install, you cannot ssh into the system.

C. Support: I am a self made server admin and as such, I do not need much support. The few support tickets I sent were answered to the point and promptly. Adam and Chris did fix the debian template temporarily for me. However the problem with HyperVM being misleading and unstable is a big turn off for me.

Here is my latest email from HyperVM:

----------------------------------------------

Warning: The Account michael is using 100% of quota for realmem_usage.
Limit: 640
Used: 640

Warning: The Account michael is using 100% of quota for swap_usage.
Limit: 512

-----------------------------------

Here is my latest email to Adam:

-----------------------------------------

Hi Support,

The HyperVM info is thoroughly misleading:

S Resource Used Max Graph
Disk 1.01 GB 29.3 GB
Mem NA 640 MB
Backup 0 Unlimited
Traffic 312.53 MB 341.8 GB
Ip 1 1
Traffic 0 MB -

The actual disk space usage is:

Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/sda1 29G 561M 27G 3% /
none 321M 0 321M 0% /dev/shm
[root@host ~]#

The actual memory usage is:

total used free shared buffers cached
Mem: 640 38 601 0 4 14
-/+ buffers/cache: 19 620
Swap: 512 0 512

I am sorry to say, I do not like this one bit.

Please move me to a different HyperVM system which functions stable and without any problem with the statistics as well as without conking out on various OS templates.

I have used Xen before and never had a problem until now.

Please let me know when you can give me a stable Xen system without problems.

Thanks,
Michael.
-------------------------------------------

I am awaiting a reply from Adam.

D. Speed: The server speed is fast. No problems, when the server works but the ubuntu crash along with all these problems is not good.

Rating: I am not rating this yet.

I do hope Adam will put me on a different server where everything functions fast, stable and without any problems.
----------------------------------------------------------

Here is my question to all the experts at WHT:

Is it true that if I have my server in the US, the govt and the FBI can put a backdoor into the server and see through info when they feel like it?

This is what I heard from a friend of mine. I am NOT trolling but when I heard this, I was quite upset. This is what made me seek a server outside the US.

Please let me know if this is true or this is bull, so that I can keep myself informed that this is just crap.

Vpsfarm and zone.net, please keep up your excellent service. I may come back and get other servers from you. JP stream please fix the email problem and you will be no 1 in Japan. Adam, your xen setup needs to be more stable. Please fix this.

The domain in question is technichristian [dot] net. The web server is not yet installed. I am waiting for Adam to fix the problems first.

A Small Orange Review After 2 Years

Sep 9, 2008

How did A Small Orange get the name? Years ago Tim Dorr, owner/operator, used it as his AYM screen name. There's a great interview with him from 2005 here. Even have a look around if you want.

"A Small Orange" is an Atlanta based web hosting company with a great attitude. It began as my backup host for my web based voiceover site and now it is my main host. I first read about them on this forum where they came highly recommended. When I first joined they would only accept 25 new accounts a night to ensure the best customer experience.

It took me two nights to get mine and I'm still there. Don't worry, they haven't done that in years and you can sign up any time.

The first thing I check when selecting a new host are their forums. A Small Orange (ASO) has a very active one that has "support" members who post, and even Tim himself. "Pre-sales Questions" is a popular area.

Not that this takes the place of a superb tech support who won't quit until the problem is solved. I've found them to be very patient with folks who may not be the most tech savvy. That would be me. There is a thorough Knowledge base online as well as an ASO Wiki written by staff and customers. Plus, step by step demonstrations of CPanel functions. The only issue I've ever had happened a couple of weeks ago. I had a problem with a disappearing sub domain. It was a CPanel code problem. Tech support was nothing short of amazing.

Their plans are very reasonable. All have the same features. Even their "Tiny plan" with 75 MB of space and 3GB Bandwidth at $25 a year has all the features of their most expensive "Super plan" with 4500MB of space and 100GB Bandwidth. Turn any account (except Tiny) into a Reseller account for $5 more a month. You can easily upgrade or downgrade as needed. Plus there's ASO Extreme which is just for file sharing. No scripts, e-mail or Cpanel. But, you get 1500MB of space and 100GB Bandwidth for $20 a month.

As far as up time, I don't think my site has ever been down for longer than a few minutes. The time I caught it they were doing some server maintenance. I'm always on my site since one of my web pages is my browser start page. I've hosted two sites with them, one for me and one for a local band. They were on different servers and both had the same great performance and reliability. ASO's business concept is to not overload shared servers. Period. I can go online any time and check my hosts status from a web site and CPanel. If there's any problem it's corrected quickly.

ASO offers CPanel and the latest updates and features. I like to check my stats often and use a lot of subdomains. Latest Visitors and AWStats helps me keep tabs of things. It has everything you'd expect from CPanel.

Believe me, I'm no expert. But, I do recognize a friendly attitude and willingness to help when I see it. The most important thing is that my web site up and online. If it didn't work well and consistently, I wouldn't be there. If that ever changes you can bet I'll be the first to leave. So far I am very impressed with A Small Orange.

Small Business Site With Hawkhost - 6 Month Review

Sep 17, 2008

I've just passed the 6 month mark with Hawkhost this week. I signed up with a coupon that was floating around that made the deal hard to pass up.

I have a small business shopping cart based site that receives an average of 70 visitors/day which uses 40MB bandwidth/day or roughly 1GB/month. I'm on the standard package which currently gives me 3GB/month storage and 30GB/month bandwidth. It's not a large site by any means, but I need it to be up 24/7. I also have 4 domain add-ons, but they get very little traffic. FYI, I have my domains registered with godaddy.

The first week I opened a ticket requesting that ssh be enabled. My ticket was updated with a "we're on it" response after one minute, which appeared to be from an actual human, followed by a resolution 2 minutes after the ticket was opened.

Later the same day I submitted another ticket regarding setting up email in a particular email client - that was responded to and resolved in 5 minutes.

A month later I had an email bounce issue that I needed some help investigating. Two hours later it was responded to and resolved.

Since then I haven't had to contact support. I have a monitoring alert system to notify me of any downtime. It's alerted me one time in six months and by the time I sat down at the computer to check, my site was back up. With my previous host, it happened on what seemed like a bi-weekly basis.

I just referred somebody to sign up with hawkhost today - something I'd be worried about in the past with other hosts.

I have no complaints to speak of and it's tough to beat the price/reliability ratio. Keep up the good work!

EpicVPS ...

Aug 1, 2008

After PM PST it seems my VPS just died. When I log into HyperVM it simply states that my VM doesn't even exist! I'm paid up on my dues (today is my 1 month anniversary, some way to celebrate).

I have a ticket in with EpicVPS but no response thus far, but it's only been about 30 minutes since I placed it.

Just giving a shout to see if anyone else is having issues with their VPS from Epic. I hope my VM didn't get recomissioned or something, because I can't have my data just have gone *POOF*.

EpicVPS Recommendations

Jun 28, 2008

Long time WHT lurker and first time poster. Well I was looking for a budget VPS provider, and I saw EpicVPS.com's offers in the offers section.

I sent them an email with a few questions and I had a very satisfactory and polite response within half an hour.

So I was just wondering if anyone else here uses them and would like to let me know if I should go ahead and order with them.

Epicvps Instability

Aug 11, 2008

I'm a 1 month customer of epicvps for an entry plan, i just wanted to know if there's someone experiencing the same instability issue like me in the recent 2 days?

My vps keep shutdown & restarted randomly between 1-8 hours, they say that they are experiencing ddos attack on the node that my vps hosted on so they will occasionally restarting the node still trying to fix it. I think i can accept that reason.

Unfortunately, that was 1.5 days ago since they reply my last ticket, after that still no sign of improvement or any news updates about my node untill now. The vps still restarting & shutting down, sometimes it's about 8 hours, sometimes it's down 3-5 times in 1 hours, sometimes the hypervm is very slow / inaccessible, etc

I'm just curious if there are anyone that have the same experience like me? I hope that i can attract epicvps support with this post.

note for epicvps: you guys really need to make some area to post news updates of your server status, maybe via rss, or quick respon email.

EpicVPS Vs. MediaTemple

Aug 8, 2008

I've been on shared and reseller hosting for the past five years, its now time to rank up.

I am currently deciding between:

MediaTemple's DV service ($50.00 m/o)
EpicVPS (29.99 m/o before promo)
Rackspace(?)

I'm not really hung up on the control panel that is used for the server / site admin but I would prefer a cPanel / WHM, although I am flexible with that. I know cPanel takes more RAM... around 200 mb?

I am going to be running my personal website(s), client websites and then hosting a SVN repository for some projects and using Django and Ruby on Rails too. The bulk of the coding will be PHP applications, Wordpress, Wordpress MU, Invision Power Board, VBulletin, Status2K,and Trellis Desk.

I am not really concerned about the bandwidth because none of the sites are really massive traffic, very moderate to light traffic at all. I just like over 20gigs of disk space for projects, media, and storage.

I am on a tight budget and don't want to spend more than $50.00 a month because thats out of my needs, although if its quality I am paying for I don't mind. I would like support via IM or tickets, I never use phone support anyways. I would like a host with a good reputation for support too so anything you can suggest or help me take into consideration please do post!

As for ram enough for Cpanel to run, and the server not to be expensive.

Sep 27, 2008

Today i found out my server was suspended by VAserv without any notice beforehand. They sent me a email stating that i violated some policy as per email here:
-----------------------------------------------------------------
The server was suspended for AUP violations. Your server has IRC chat software installed as the message clearly states that

===================
> I found these suspicious looking connections on the Undernet IRC Chat
> Network connecting from a netblock you control. The originating ip(s)
> and undernet server(s) each one was connected to is listed below. The
> destination port they were using is most likely port 6667. Other
> possible
==================

The Chat software that you are using may be using IRC as an internal interface for operation.

Regarding the supension, We suspend all the domains, vps, servers who violate our terms and conditions and comes under scanner for AUP violations without any warnings given.
------------------------------------------------------------------

i am not running any IRC clients/servers. The only thing remotely close is a Userplane webchat app that i'm currently installing, and that is a private chat script. So even after all this emailing back and forth, my server is still suspended. Very lack of respect for their customers. I'm preparing to move my business elsewhere, i've actually been waiting for this... just needed a reason, and now i have one. Since they took over EpicVPS.. my original 80gb allocated storage have been taken away... somedays i see 50gb , other days i see 30gb.. i suppose they are overselling which is causing the fluctuation, even though they claimed its backup storage lol. Anyhow... has anyone encountered this, do they have the right to lock me out of my own server without notice?

I noticed that since their acquisition of EpicVPS, there has been alot of attitude from staff and a lot less user friendly. Network lags alot more now as well. All downhill.

ImHosted Won't Refund

Feb 23, 2009

if there is anything I can do to make ImHosted answer my emails. I signed up like two months ago. Asked a support question got no real answer. Just circles I guess they don't know much about hosting or just like talking in circles. So I canceled in about 3 or 4 hours. Then after a week of sending many emails they finally refunded after I started a paypal dispute. I forgot to cancel the subscription in paypal so the next month I was charged the 30 bucks. Now they answered first email and said they would take care of it.

Now two weeks has gone by they don't respond to any emails and the chat says that its billing and I have to contact them only by email. So now I guess I'll have to wait for paypal to try to get my money back. Its sad I don't have an account with them but they won't give back my money. I would watch using there service. There servers are deathly slow. Nothing works like it should. They have support chat but really all they do is have you submit a ticket.

EuroVPS Refund

Feb 15, 2009

I don't want to pre-empt too much but has anyone here succesfully received a refund from EuroVPS?

I was a long time lurker here and see that they seem to get good reviews so I signed up a VPS there. Now I'm not sure it was the right decision. I've asked for a refund and its all gone silence for 2 weeks despite repeated and polite emails as well as phone calls.

IWeb Billing / Refund

Dec 12, 2008

I purchased a dedicated server from Iweb back in October, I was paying 134.00 a month, no setup, etc.. After 3 weeks, I decide that a dedicated server is not what I need, and cancel. I attempt to cancel, and basically have to deal with my account manager only, as no one on Live Chat, etc.. can help me for whatever reason. Iweb has a 30 day money back guarantee, I have been waiting nearly 4 weeks for a refund. During this time, I have been getting overdue notices as well as today getting an invoice that I had a "Successful Payment" to Iweb for 134.00$ (the cost of my monthly service.)

I have been in constant contact with my Iweb manager, who is "very disappointed" in the accounting department and will process the refund immediately. Now, he is going to "talk to his boss," to get things sped up.

Today, I log in to web chat to talk to him, and he is "busy," and will call me when the refund is complete.

All in all, the actual web service was good with Iweb, however, their business practices are the worst I have seen thus far. Everything is this round-about procedure which is painful to deal with.

My philosophy is, if I can pay YOU for your services immediately to get started, then YOU can pay ME just as quick. It wasnt like I could get my dedicated server started with a "I'll pay you as soon as accounting writes you check in a few weeks." Extend the same courtesy to me.

GplHost Does Not Refund Me Money

Sep 13, 2007

Last week I asked my friend to pay gplhost.com for VPS server EUR25 through paypal. They said they require to authenticate me in order to set up my account. Since paypal account is not mine I was unable to pass this authentication. I said, it's OK just refund me my money. They refused to give me my EUR25 back saying they will report me to authorities for "credit card fraud"!

I understand that my behaviour MAY seem suspicious but isn't it my right to refuse give my personal information to anyone? And isn't it my right to receive refund if I don't want to disclose it?

Shall I advise my friend to initiate dispute with paypal about that? I won't give up until I get my money back.

Hostfresh Not Replying? Refund Wanted

Jul 30, 2008

I purchased some services from hostfresh.com but after waiting 3 days for my hosting to be set up (just basic web host space) i decided to switch to wrzhost.com where i was ready to go within 10 min of buying the services. I sent a support ticked to hostfresh(before i asked for the refund) and a lady told me to contact sales , when i told her i was getting no reply she again told me to contact sales so i bought else where. I emailed sales and billing 2 times each and sent 2 support tickets to them over a week and a half but have gotten no reply at all and when i sent a ticket to the lady that was actually replying , she now wont reply to my tickets also.

Anyone else have a problem with them and how did you get your refund?

Paypal was used to pay

Cancellation And Refund With Fluid Hosting

Sep 3, 2008

I initiated a account cancellation on around 31st July through sending an email. In response I was advised to open a ticket by logging into the Control Panel I did it as requested. Till now account is not canceled and day before yesterday I got charged for another month. Actually thats the time I came to know that its still not canceled. Since then I am contacting FH HelpDesk and I am just getting the same reply "I have put a note to my manager" It's happening for two days now. Yesterday I was told my request will be closed by late evening and I will be given the refund...but no action.

Now I contacted them again, got the same reply "I have put a another note to my manager"

I know probably I am whining out my fustration but waiting for a month and then manager is "unable" to take a look at note by the support...not sure whats happening

To the full disclosure, I had signed up multiple times with FH (may be 6-8 times) in a year or two period and had canclled the account on differnet occasions (due to my busy schedules I am unable to maintain the site) and I have always got a fantastic service to say the least...but this time...

Godaddy Gift Card Refund Issue!

May 10, 2008

I made a mistake to purchase a new hosting account, and I requested the customer support to refund the money back to the original gift card. But when I use the gift card to purchase other product, it shows no enough credit.

Anyone know how long the refund money could reach the original gift card and then I could purchase other product?

PC Core - Server Was Down For 9 Days, Still Waiting For Refund.

Oct 30, 2008

I've not posted feedback for past providers that haven't been so good, but due to bad service and a lack of refund after nearly 2 weeks, I really need to post my situation.

The site is pc-core.net, and they have had some fairly decent offers going on WHT.

After 5 days of good service from the dedicated provider PC Core, I ran into possibly the worst 10 days of running a website I’ve ever encountered and a further 12 days without a refund.

Here’s my story.

I signed up for a dedicated host in September, and my machine was made active on 25/09.

The server went down 5 days later on 30/09, and it took more than 24 hours to get it back up. So now we’re running on late 01 Oct 2008, but slow and sometimes unresponsive. The site then goes down completely on 05 Oct 2008. A response on 06 Oct 2008 saying they’re looking into the situation. Had to then wait 2 days, and post 3 replies to get a response on 08 Oct 2008.

One last response on 09 Oct from support, then I had to update the ticket 10 times to get another reply on 14 Oct 2008.

The server was down for 9 days with little to no response from the tech support, despite me continually trying to contact them.

Server back online briefly, then down again on 15 Oct 2008.
On 16 Oct 2008 I placed a ticket applying for a refund, which should be instant and my account cancelled instantly. Refund request finally got through on the 18th, server down but my account on their site is still live (so I’m still being invoiced via PayPal).

Their refund policy:

If for any reason you are unhappy with our service, and wish to leave during the first 30-days, PC Core will refund your purchase price less applicable fees in full.

It’s now 30 Oct and as I write this I’m still waiting for a refund (12 days waiting for a refund, still no response), still waiting for my account to be cancelled and I’ve posted numerous tickets asking for an update during the last 12 days.

I was told that they may pay me for the remaining days I had left after cancelling.

Surely a full refund is in order? Or at least the downtime and remaining time for the month.

I’ve been with 4,5 dedicated providers in the last two, three years but I have never seen any take more than 5 days to respond to server downtime, it’s appauling. The only thing going for the provider during my month with PC Core was that the staff were kind and helpful when they were around to give it.

3rdrockhosting Holding Refund Payment Hostage

Sep 4, 2008

I signed up for 3rd Rock Hosting's smallest plan and pre-paid a year because it was inexpensive and after EpicVPS's server magically deleted everything I had no reason to use a bigger host as my data was gone and my most recent backup was too old to do me much good.

The account got set up immediately, however there were problems such as my bandwidth allocation and number of email accounts and such were half of what they were quoted to be on the webpage. Ok, got a ticket in and got that sorted out no problem.

Then, something happened to 3rd Rocks upstream host and the site was down for two days about two weeks into hosting. They've had this problem before and I knew about it and decided to chance it. Bad decision I guess.

A week ago or so I got an email telling me to change my DNS as they moved to a new server. What? New name servers? Ok. I use my own DNS but updated the A records to the new IP's. This is where the trouble began, once everything resolved I could access my panel but none of my pages load! It just loads a blank screen and even view source doesn't show any of my php pages. I logged into the account via FTP and sure enough my files/data are there.. just nothing loads.

Not having to want to deal with this headache I politely asked my account be canceled and the 30 day refund honored. I was greeted by Mark asking if I changed my nameservers and when I told him I had modified my nameservers to reflect the new IP's he offered me two free months.

I stated that with the trouble I've had in the last 30 days; going past the 30 day trial would give me no 'out' if more trouble occurred. Mark stated he'd give me a refund 'ASAP'. This was Sept 1st. There's been no refund and I've shot off two more questions in the support ticket without answers. My 30 day 'guarantee' ends in just a few more days so I'm trying to get this done before hand of course.

I'm -> <- this close to filing a paypal complaint and escalating it. Being incommunicado with me for 2 days while you scrounge up $20 bucks is baffling.

Servergrid Hosting - Service And Refund Policy

Aug 8, 2007

I spent 6 months trying to get DotNetNuke up and running. Servergrid web hosting puts way too many sites on the same server. My site would sometimes take over 5 minutes to load. Often it would not load at all. I cancelled my subscription with them and two months later I have still not received my refund.
