I was going to use reliablesite.net to host my website, but I guess I'll wait and try to find something better.
What I need is a hosting provider that is relatively cheap, windows based (I use .net) and that can handle big amounts of visitors.
We have a Windows based application (Win32 app) that we want to host through a browser.
I can't find much information on the web, however I came across these guys who seem to do what I need: [url]
Does anyone know what technology they use to host Windows applications? And can it be used on a Mac or Linux? Does anyone know of anyone else who does this type of thing?

Hosting type on website became "No web hosting."
When I try to change hosting type to "Forwarding" it changes ok.
If I change hosting type to "Website hosting", I get message "The hosting type for "website name" was successfully changed.", but hosting plan still stay "No web hosting"....

Let’s say I have the website myname.com
Myname.com is a very popular website and his content mirrors in 2servers (Server A and Server B) in 2 different datacenters (exactly same content).
When Server A fails due to datacenter or rack problem and no site is responding, then I need some service to transfer ALL traffic to server B. Is there any (paid or free) service doing such a thing? If yes, what about dns propagation? As far as I am concerned, dns propagation is a very slow procedure depending on each internet provider.
So how could we instantly make Server B to come live to ALL visitors? Is there any quick and reliable dns redundancy system without having to wait for dns propagation?

We have a few hosting plans setup with different "allowances" for each.The website permissions allow basic html and PHP.In Windows Advanced: The website settings allow for html, php, asp and asp.net
When we change a Basic Hosting plan to Windows Advanced using "Change Plan", it will reassign the subscription/domain to use the new plan, but it will not add-on the extra features in Hosting Settings.

one I am not using any cache solution as it seems that Wincache does not work.

Our systems were crashing, but my guess is that we were putting about 100,000 or so files on it and since it was formatted with ext3 (everywhere else we are using XFS) - this was a reason for crashing.
Since we have a lot of bandwdith in our data center, we are thinking about becoming a mirror for CentOS, gOS and some other distributions. I am thinking again about using RAM disk based hosting (you use 1 Gb/s port 100% no problem with it even on CoreDuo level of CPU).
Anybody has any experince, good or bad of running RAM based hosting? I am talking about dedicated, not VPS environment.
I usually host just PHP but a new client needs to use ASP and SQL Server. So I urgently need to find a UK based reliable Windows Managed Dedicated Server for around £100 to £150 per month.
The site only gets 1000 visits per week and runs a multi community from a 500MB SQL Server database.
I'm scared to go with a cheap host like 1&1 or Fasthosts but also think Rackspace may be way too expensive.
Is a dedicated server overkill for such a site?
Anyone know of a solid relaible host that can offer this with great 24/7 skilled support and daily backups.
I need to have a solution for client by Tuesday or they may go elsewhere.

Well I think that I have finally narrowed down my choices to three different possible hosts (leaving room for more suggestions of course)
But I was wondering based on speed - which host would you suggest. I would like to have mp3s load up and start playing as fast as possible.

I am looking for a host that allow adult content.
it is to be used for a blog, wordpress based with a minimum of space requirements.
EU based is a must have.
currently it is using 25mb + 200mb bw/month.
I need it to be cpanel based and with awstats.
Mysql is not required as it is hosted aldready.
so I am looking for something reliable with a fair amount of space/bw for a small monthly price.
not required but a nice thing to have would be the posibility for more domains on the account.

View 2 Replies View Relatedmy friend and i are working on some web-based-commerce ideas and at current we're at godaddy.com. i can only imagine the vitriol they've rightfully earned here, as we decided to be done with them when the $30 SSL license they told us we could get one night quickly became $78 because there was a new "turboSSL server" package we needed, nevermind the guy the first time said with our hosting options we only needed to go through them for the SSL license, so basically, either the first guy lied to us or the second guy tried to hustle us, either way, i dont like companies whose sales model is revealed like the plot in a horror movie, so we're looking to go elsewhere.
