Plesk Migration - What About DNS
Nov 29, 2007
I will be migrating my VPS over to a new VPS (same provider) which has Fedora 6 instead of 4.
Anyhow, all of the IP addresses will change on the new VPS.... so while the migration process via. Plesk should be fairly straightforward, I'm a bit worried about the DNS. The DNS is managed by Plesk and will continue to be managed by Plesk, but again it's the IPs that I'm worried about.
All of the hosting accounts on the current VPS use the nameserver "ns1.citedata.net" and "ns2.citedata.net" as well as their associated IP addresses. Although the nameserver domains will remain the same, their IPs will change.

I'm going to migrate my current web server to Plesk soon, and before I would like to know if I need a stable Internet connection to use the migration tool. My sites and databases are more than 5GB and my Internet connection at home is not very stable currently, so I would like to know if the migration stops as soon my Internet connection interrupts, or if it's completes automatically between the two servers once the migration has been started.

I am currently running a server on Apache, with PHP and MySQL addons installed. However,
I would now like to install Plesk and run all websites from its administration interface. How would this be done?
I have asked SW Soft regarding this issue, and I got this response:
Quote:
It is possible to migrate from one of the platforms listed in the Guide or from IIS.
Unfortunately, migration from an Apache server is no possible.
I find this hard to believe. Is there anyone who can confirm this before I buy a copy of Plesk, which according to SW Soft would not work with my current server...
Also, if they are wrong, how should this be done? I have searched for an answer to this, but I have not come up with anything, maybe because of wrong search terms.

I´m gonna migrate my server with Plesk 8.4 to Cpanel 11.24 in the next days using a manual method (account transfer failed in my test, i guess it is not fully functional).
Creation of accounts and migration of databases is already done, but i have some doubts with email account transfers:
1) Cpanel and Plesk, share the maildir format for messages. A transfer of email messages should be smooth, just copying the data of this directory´s.
Plesk directory: /var/qmail/mailnames/domain.com/user/Maildir/
Cpanel directory: /home/domain/mail/domain.com/user
Is it ok?
2) Is there any way of migrate usernames/passwords to cpanel without recreate accounts (with a new password) and copy the email messages?

We currently have Plesk Expand 2.3.2 with 3 Linux servers, 1 Windows server, a SmarterMail server and 2 DNS servers that we are looking to migrate to PPA 11.5. I have the PPA working okay and am trying to test out a migration on just one domain from one of the Linux servers. When I run the preliminary check I keep getting this error:
Error: Mail content transfer from Qmail/Postfix to SmarterMail mail service is not supported.
Assign this subscription to a service template which offers Postfix mail service. We aren't using Qmail or Postfix for user mailboxes in the Expand or PPA systems, only the SmarterMail. I've tried the work around listed here: [URL] .... but that didn't work.
Am I still going to have to assign Postfix to my Service Templates in PPA even if we're not planning on using it for mailboxes?

I'm migrating 11 domains from my old server to my new server, and it's been running now for 3 hours and the progress section shows 100% but it looks like it's still running.
And each time I check the "Domains" section I see a couple of my domains listed but not all of them yet, and the ones I do see the "Disk Usage" on one of my domains that I know is large shows the same figure each time I go to this page; it doesn't seem like it has increased at all.
How can I tell if the migration is still processing or if it has froze and I should restart the migration again?

We successfully migrated web and email from a Plesk 9.3 system to the new Plesk 12.0 system. Afterwards i try to install new extensions and / or try to delete existing extensions and receive the following error:
Die Erweiterung Webserver Configurations Troubleshooter kann nicht entfernt werden: crontabmng failed: /usr/bin/crontab execution failed: "crontabViWP46":11: bad command errors in crontab file, can't install. System error: crontab execution error
Means that i am not able to delete the extension "Webserver Configurations Troubleshooter". But the extension is delete (but not completelly - only a checkbox is shown without entry).
Is something comes with a config of the old server? All works proper until migration.

I had some question about the migration tool : My task is to migrate a domain from a server with plesk 9 version to another server with plesk 12 version.
1. Does the migration includes the ftp accounts contained in the domain ?
2. During the migration can users from the plesk 9 server still connect to the ftp server and continue working on it ?

We have a problem migrating from 11.0.9 to a different server running 12.0.18. Our Plesk 11 server is running great since years ago. We have 3 resellers there, say reseller1 with 17 domains, reseller2 with 13 domains and reseller3 with 250 domains.
First, we executed a complete server migration with:
/usr/local/psa/bin/migrate -m -host xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx -password xxxxxx -ip-mapping /root/migration-mapping.txt -skip-license -replace-existing-objects true
The process ran properly, but in the end we've found reseller1 and reseller2 were NOT migrated. No errors were reported tho.
While investigating this issue we have found:
1) "/usr/local/psa/bin/migrate --list-resellers" returns only reseller3. So it looks like reseller1 and reseller2 are not "seen" by the migrate utility.
2) /usr/local/psa/bin/migrate -mr reseller1 returns:
Migration started at: 2015-06-03 04:21:11
The following clients not exist: reseller1
3) /usr/local/psa/bin/migrate --list-subscriptions returns the 250 subscriptions of reseller3, but no single mention to reseller1 and reseller2 subscriptions.
In short, reseller1 and reseller2 are invisible for the migration utility. Both missing resellers are ok, enabled and active in our Plesk 11 server.
We are now stuck on the migration process and wondering if this could be a bug in the migrate utility? or some inconsistence in our Plesk 11?

I just finished to migrate my Plesk 10.5 to 12 and everything is great now.
I just have a little problem with SMTP authorization.
This option, if i'm not doing something wrong, is located on Mail Settings and especially in the section "Relay options". I ticked "authorization is required" and "SMTP".
But when I try to check it on my email client, I can send emails with or without the the SMTP authorization option on the email client.

If you transfered an account with the PMM, is e-mail still received on the old server being forwarded to the new one?
Is it a good idea to transfer only e-mail & accounts again after DNS propagates to the new server?

I had a old virtual Server with Ubuntu+Plesk12. I build a new dedicated Server with CentOS6+Plesk12 and migrate all Domains. Now i have a strange problem:
When i upload a file with FTP-User "user1", the file has the permissions Group=psacln & Owner=user1. All is fine, i can see and edit this file in a FTP-Program. But when my website create a file (cache html files or installed plugin folders in wordpress), I can't see, can't edit and can't download this files.
When i login to plesk with the admin account, i can see and edit this files. They have also Group=psacln & Owner=user1 and i can give them 0666 rights but when i login with FTP-User "user1" with my FTP-Program, I didn't see that files?!

Just went through a migration and everything appeared to go pretty smooth, but we figured out there was an issue with symbolic links.
A site on an old server running plesk 12 had symbolic links in it. When the site is Migrated through the plesk migration tool, the symbolic links aren't preserved on the new server.

Solved, changed settings in Customer Service Plan and synchronized...

Everything works fine, domains, users, mailboxes, everything is migrated - except the horde settings inside the webmail. I recognized this after my first login into webmail, normally the inbox is shown (I configured my webmaoil this way) but after the migration this setting is lost - including all other settings. How to migrate this settings?

We have installed Plesk 12 on a fresh up to date Ubuntu 14.04 x64 server.
After installation, and before any migration, we have moved some folders:
- /var/www/vhosts -> /opt/vhosts
- /var/qmail -> /opt/qmail
- /var/mysql -> /opt/mysql
We have created symlinks, modified some configuration files (Plesk included) and ran domains reconfiguration script (zero domain installed, but just in case the script will do anything else).
After that, we have launched Plesk Migration Wizard (from Plesk 9 to last release).
Everything has worked fine: all domains have been migrated on our new folders (/opt based) and owners has been correctly defined for each domain. The same for MySQL and all mail accounts.
We have checked Apache VirtualHost configured by Plesk Migration Wizard : our new folders are used (/opt).
So all seems to be ok.
But now, all websites (configured with Apache and Apache PHP module) returns 403 Forbidden error.
We have try changing to FastCGI with Apache same error.
We have try changing to full Nginx (PHP and static files), some websites run.
We have checked some KB (112884, 800) but all seems to be good.
Is there any steps we have omitted when we move folders ?

In anticipation of the Migration from Hsphere to PPA at some point in the future, I would like to know if there is maybe an option to merge two HSphere clusters into one PPA cluster.
In HSphere the whitelable/reseller function had a couple of weak spots. One of them was the fact that the same domain registrar account was used for end-users and resellers.
Because of that some Hsphere businesses decided to run one cluster for Resellers and one for End-Users.
Now, with the dawn of a Migration from Hsphere to PPA it would be great to finally only have one single cluster.

I have recently migrated my websites from Plesk 11.0.9 to a new server with Plesk 12.x and the webalizer is not working.
- Is there a chance to repair it and not loose the data? If yes, how do I do that?
- Or do I have to remove it and install Webalizer again? How do I do that?
OS Ubuntu
Uninstalling Webalizer with plesk updater is not possible.
After executing this:
Code:
# /usr/local/psa/admin/bin/statistics --calculate-all
I get:

Recently I migrated my server from CentOs 5 to CentOS 6.4, while using the migration manager from plesk 11.0.9 (the migration was between the same plesk version).
I used rsync first, which caused some trouble, but without it, the migration process worked fine.
Unfortunately, if I create new domains now, they won't get any domainkey DNS entries anymore and under /etc/domainkeys no keys are created for the new domains.
Nothing I tried did work so far, which was resetting the DNS template, turning on and off the domainkeys setting, nor did calling "/usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/mchk --with-spam" resolve the problem.
For the existing domains, domainkeys work fine, but I can't find any errors how I can fix my plesk installation to generate domainkeys for new domains.
