May 13, 2015Despite fix of update 39 FTP server still stop after update on one server. It runs ok on others. What do you need to diagnose that ?

WHM Upgrade Caused Su To Stop Working
Jan 11, 2009I have not logged into my server in about a week, and in during that time WHM updated itself. I logged into WHM yesterday and received the accept new license message. Then ssh'd into the server as my normal user, but can no longer su to root.
When I try, it just says 'incorrect password', though I am entering the correct root password. I can ssh to the server as root and login no problem, using that password. As root, I can su to other users, but not the other way around. This has never been a problem until yesterday.
This only happened in the last week, and the only thing that has happened is the SHM upgrade. Also, from within WHM, attempting to restart apache seems to stick with the progress meter on the screen forever. I am not sure if whm is attemtping to execute commands (like apache restart) with sudo, which may explain that behavior as sudo is no longer working either.
Has anyone seen this with a WHM upgrade?

But the sync process doesn't stop?? What should I do? Sync runs for alsmost 2 hours. I even tried to reboot the server and no change...

Dec 10, 2014How can I remove a few "server { }" blocks from the file "/etc/nginx/plesk.conf.d/server.conf" without them being readded by plesk?
I want to stop nginx from listening on port 80/443 for a specific IP which is listed there.

But with nginx running in front of apache...
My setup looks like this:
* Plesk 12 + Ubuntu 14.04
* IP-Pair1 (IPv4_1 + IPv6_1)
* IP-Pair2 (IPv4_2 + IPv6_2)
IP-Pair1 is supposed to host admin and customer access.
= Plesk-admin-interface (lighhttpd?) on 80/443 instead of 8443 (ssh on 22, ftp ...)
IP-Pair2 is supposed to host visitor access.
= Plesk webspaces (nginx/apache) on 80/443
So I want to stop nginx from grabbing ports 80/443 of IP-Pair1 and listen to IP-Pair2 addresses only. Then I want to set plesk-admin interface to listen to 80/443 on IP-Pair1 only.

Plesk just won't start.

Dec 26, 2013I have noticed that for each new subscription I create Plesk automatically creates an FTP account. Further; I cannot delete this. (It seems the Remove button would allow me to delete additional FTP accounts but not the one added when the subscription was created).
I would like:
1) To delete these system created FTP accounts
2) To prevent it doing this in future. I would like to create subscriptions without FTP accounts.
I'd prefer to do it this way and leave the FTP server running. However; I am wondering about disabling FTP access altogether if I have to. I do use SFTP. I'm afraid my Linux knowledge is so limited I don't know if SFTP uses the FTP server; so if I turned off the ftp server whether that would prevent sftp access?
The motivation for doing this is that while I have 'customers' and subscribers in fact I am the only user and will transfer files to the server by SFTP and then move them around the server logged on via SSH. Since I'm not using FTP it seems sensible not to have all these accounts floating about.

May 17, 2014Our server is running; Plesk 11.0.9 and CentOS 5.7 it has a Q8200 CPU @ 2.33GHz and 2GB of RAM. Now there are just two websites on the server plus a couple of redirects/forwarding domains, although lots of domains are still on the server but turned off in Plesk. Both websites are OSCommerce sites and I just need to keep these sites going until the end of the year when we will switch to our new Joomla based website.
We have seen an increasing number of server crashes and after various checks of the logs, fitting a new BIOS battery, check of the hardware by EasySpace who host the server, installation of ClamAV, LMD and RKHunter (which did find some Trojans and Suspect software), I have traced it down to some external Http activity that is taking all of my CPU time and RAM. Here is a screen capture of the Htop listing and when I killed these processes the CPU and RAM went back to normal. The problem is that I usually have to restart the HTTPD service and sometimes things get so bad that the server crashes and I have to request a power cycle.

Apr 1, 2015I have a Plesk host that I am tasked with upgrading. It started with openSUSE 11.4 on Plesk 10.4 and I have upgraded it all the way to openSUSE 12.2 on Plesk 11.09 (fixed minor issues with pop3d and mysql locking on the way). The next upgrade was supposed to be 11.5, but the option to upgrade it never shows up. I have re-instated our support license so I know the license is OK, and also checked that 11.5 supports openSUSE 12.2. The update log doesn't really tell me much either:

Jun 17, 2013Over the weekend, I upgraded from Plesk 10.3 to Plesk 11.5, using the updater in the control panel. Everything seemed to go well. However, this morning I've noticed that some, not all, email accounts are having trouble logging into the server to send and receive mail. Other accounts are working fine.Via POP, I get this error: -ERR Temporary problem, please try again later
Via SMTP, I get this error:
535 auth failure
I see this in the maillog:

I replaced the server name, username, host, and IP in the above.
Here are the steps I've tried so far.
- Changing the password using the control panel.
- Updating the number of daemons in authdaemonrc
- Restarting the services

Jun 27, 2014I just upgraded my Plesk on Ubuntu (vServer) yesterday. But after the upgrade I couldn't login to the Panel anymore because all I get when I try to reach the panel (https://panel.examplesite.com:8443) is a white screen.
I rebooted the server and restarted the panel as well as Apache several times with no change.

Its also upgrading Apache from 2.2 to 2.4 and after installation, it break my Apache configuration and getting configuration errors when adding domains from Plesk etc.

May 18, 2015Following the update from 11 to Plesk 12 (and installing latest Ubuntu fixes), the Plesk panel access is broken. Welcome page says:Can not load key: key is empty.And of course, no way to login the mgt interface. All services appear up, so this is only affecting the panel web service.

Plesk 12.x / Linux :: No Timezone Selected After Upgrade
Oct 18, 2014After finishing the upgrade from 11.5 to 12.0.18 I checked the system time which was wrong and no timezone was selected ....
So I switched to my timezone (GMT +3) and corrected the clock from the above settings cause it was 5 minutes behind
saved .... since then the time is showing 1 hour later the selected one. like GMT+4.
No matter if I change it manually it returns there.
in order for the server to work correctly i changed the timezone to GMT+2. OK the time is corrected - although wrong cause it should be 1 hour earlier, but anyways Now all incoming email messages still show one hour late as received date. So I tried restarting courier-imap
# service courier-imap restart
courier-imap: unrecognized service

I have checked error log and the latest error log is ERR [panel] Specified column "isAllowed1 is not in the row.

Nov 28, 2014I see that Plesk 12 supports MySQL 5.6, but the server I am running is Ububtu 14.04 LTS and comes with 5.5.
I need to make 5.6 available but I can see no way of doing it without breaking Plesk (I already tried just installing it from command line with apt-get install and had to restore the whole server from backup!) - there is no option for MYSQL in Plesks updates & upgrades menu ...
