Plesk 11.x / Linux :: Remove Domain Alias Warns It Will Delete All Related Files
Sep 2, 2013
I think the wrong text is displayed for the option "Remove Domain Alias".
In Plesk 11.5.30 Update #13, in a Webspace, on the Websites & Domains tab, if I click an alias, a window appears for the alias with the option to "Remove Domain Alias". If I move the cursor over the text "Remove Domain Alias", or click on the link, I see a pop-up: Removing this website will also delete all related files, directories, and web applications from the server.
I think this is incorrect because removing an alias should not remove any files, directories, and web applications.
I want to setup a domain alias without www in front of it. A quite simple task in the past...but not with Plesk 12. So I have a service domain (for example: service.com) that I use for ALL clients. But each client has only a subdomain of it as alias in his account. so client1.service.com, client2.service.com....and so on. And only that subdomain...nothing more...for each account. How to achieve that in Plesk 12?
When creating a domain alias in Plesk, I can activate Web, Mail and DNS. When I activate "Mail" I would think that I now can create a mail address with that domain (myaddress @ domainalias.com). But I can't. If I create a new one I only can choose between the "real" domains. Is this a bug or a feature?
I've got a situation in which I need to have a set of mail accounts that share a domain name with a domain that's already in use as a domain alias and because the domain is already in use, I'm unable to create a new account using that domain. I tried explicitly adding "www" to the domain alias so I could keep the www.domain.com address as an alias and reserve the "domain.com" name for use as a separate account, but Plesk won't allow for that.
How to address this? The idea I'm currently considering is to delete the domain alias and then create the new account and manually set the DOCUMENT ROOT of the new account to refer to the other domain's document root. I'm sure this could create some difficulty in Plesk so I'm looking for input before trying it. I'm actually not even sure exactly where I would be able to redefine the document root with Plesk allowing the change and not overwriting it later.
If all else fails, I can setup a new account on a different and unrelated Plesk server, but I'd prefer not to do that.
I cannot seem to find a conclusive answer to this. I use subdomains to create client websites then once they are in their own domains the subdomains still remain. Can I delete only the subdomain and leave all the files or at least leave the database since it is still connected to the new domain. Example below.
subdomain.example.com uses database1
newsite.com still uses database1
Is there a way to copy the database into the new domain?
I can not delete only a Domain and replace it with a other Domain. There is just the possibility to delete the Domain incl. the data. The Problem is i have 2 Domains that point to the same root-directory. And now i was making a new website in a other directory. And now i want to use one of this domain for my new website. But i can't change it. Also if i change the document root, the website d'ont use the new domainname - it makes like a redirection to the old domainname.
Impossible to delete my PTR record (DNS) on a domain name. Message error: Impossible de restaurer la zone DNS : une erreur s'est produite en ajoutant l'enregistrement (IPv6 du serveur) IN none mondomaine.fr. : Des valeurs incorrectes ont été indiquées pour l'enregistrement DNS.
This happens when I try to add a new domain or when I am trying to remove a domain. It just hangs, the browser says waiting on server while plesk just hangs. This is a fresh new install of Plesk 12 as well. I added a bunch of new domains tonight. No crazy changes or anything to plesk. I have found nothing so far in my search.
1: Obtain two Nameservers. ns1.maindomain.com, ns2.maindomain.com. (Completed) 2: Glue the Nameservers to the server's IP addresses. 184.108.40.206 -> ns1.maindomain.com / 220.127.116.11 -> ns2.maindomain.com (Completed) 3: Successfully register domain and make sure it's pointing to the correct server. (Completed) 4: Register new domain (client.com) to server using ns1.maindomain.com & ns2.maindomain.com as it's nameservers. (Problem)
Reason: Can't edit the template correctly due to a suffix .<domain> that I cannot get rid of.
In order for me to use (ns1.maindomain.com) and (ns2.maindomain.com) as the namerservers for client.com, I'll need to be able to edit those fields entirely. I don't want Plesk to append the client's domain name to the NS record.
This may be a very simple thing to remove, but I give up.
I use Plesk 11.0.9 Update #53 on Windows 2008 SP2. Nameservers and mail server are external servers and fully working.I have a 'fake' web site (roundcube. local) in which I've successfully installed roundcube and I would use it as webmail.I've added a domain alias 'webmail2.domain.com' and it works like a charm. Now I've moved the main domain "domain.com" on the plesk server and I would like to add a 'webmail.domain.com' domain alias to the 'roundcube.local' website. If I try to do it, I receive this error:
"Error: Wrong prefix for domain alias"..Even if I try to add webmail.anotherdomain.com (not installed on the Plesk server) I get the same error. The error shows up either the host is configured to the Plesk machine or not.If I set the binding directly in IIS it works but I'd like to use the plesk to do this.
I had a Problem with my FTP-Backup space, so PLESK couldn't do the daily backups that I configured. The problem with the ftp backup is solved. The backups are running again but there are still many large temporary files in a plesk folder.
Can I just delete them, or is this a bad idea?
The folder: C:Program Files (x86)ParallelsPleskPrivateTemp
I have noticed that i never install any program on my Server and my files of Web only 5 GB and Windows take 15 GB (My Hard Disk Usage 30 GB). Now my disk space available 1.7 GB. But when i go to check in the Recycler folder. There many files are taking up huge amounts of space, some are in excess of 10 GB . So could i deleting these files? How can I automatically delete contents of Recycler folder?

When I use website copy function the website files are copied to another domain but the database remains on old site. I use this function to move the website from devel state to the production state. All sites work fine but when i schedule the backups all databases are saved on old domain. How to move the database on production domain?
I'm setting up a SAAS service which is built on top of Laravel. To put it simply the service itself knows whether its being called from a sub.example.com or just example.com and serves a correct response accordingly. So going to sub.example.com will use the same index.php file as example.com but the routes and controllers within the application will provide a different response. sub.example.com will show a tenant login page where as example.com will show a new tenant subscription page or something else.
So when someone new subscribes I add a new entry to the database with a subdomain name for them and when a request comes from that subdomain and they are logged in it will show them their information. Easy right.
There is a problem though with setting it up with Plesk. When I add a wildcard subdomain, it will look for /subdomains/sub/ for the files which is a bit problematic since I want it to serve the files from the same place as the domain example.com.
Is there a way to configure that so that regardless of the subdomain it will try and serve the exact same content as my main domain?
I have recently migrated from one server with Plesk 11 to another server with Plesk 12 and cant get the alias emails work properly like they worked before the migration. I can send emails from any email@example.com (via Outlook), but cant receive them.I can receive emails only from the mailbox email of the main domain, but not for the alias-email of that mailbox for an alias domain that worked well for Plesk 11. Where might be the problem?
I have created a webmail.domain.tld in the Webmail-Services (where it says Horde 6.2.1 is installed), but the webmail.maindomain.tld is not working. I get displayed only the "webservers default page". Webmail.maindomain.tld worked well in Plesk 11.There is also no "Webmail" link in the domain control pannel like it used to be in the Plesk 11.I have created a new abonnement with a new domain to test this, but there is no Webmail link for this abonnement as well.

When i try to erase a domain from the Plesk it can't be erased and it gives the following error, i have read a lot of writings about this problem but i still didn't succeed. When at last i tried to erase it again it gave the following problem.

Apache httpd Users mailing list, but nobody there has responded in several days. I'm using mod_alias to map URLs to directories that are outside of Apache's DocumentRoot. However, it seems that .htaccess files are being ignored in these directories.
I have 2 IPs for my vServer. Plesk automatically add both addresses to the Plesk Panel. One of the ip address I want to use for another service (openvpn). The Problem is, that i can't delete the IP from the Plesk panel.
I got the message: Fehler: String was provided for unescaped parameter host.
There are no reseller or customers who use this IP. So how can i solve this problem and delete the IP from the Panel?
