I have a VPS server running on Windows 2003, and would like to stream live videos to about 50-80 people. I was wondering is there a way to have a FLASH based stream embed into my website, without paying for a software like Flash Media Server?
Uvault.com does flash streaming media, features unlimited connections, and redundant servers. Has been around for a while and is a Macromedia Alliance Partner but I cant find any feedback on them anywhere.
I am thinking about making a web site that streams HD movies and videos that I have created myself. I was wonder could you use Adobe Flash Media Interactive Server 3.5 to do so I know i would have to buy a dedicated server and a fast one with a good load of bandwidth. The big question am asking is that can you base a website or content management system around the interactive server.
I have VPS with CPanel and CentOS but i need to install Red5
can it work and can someone post a step by step tutorial host to install Red5. On Red5 web page is tutorial but when i try to install i get some errors and i have low experience in linux.
I am going to be buying a dedicated server from kimsufi Most likely the 2XL Package.
My streamers will be using my server aswell, On weekends we will be running 3-4 streams at a time, weekdays 1-2 at a time.
Spreading all the streams out, at anyone time we will have 300 viewers.
I need to know your advice on this before i go spending money.
How do i convert my dedi into a flash media server, i need red5 or something, thats all i know so far. My streamers wil be streaming to server with FME, And i also want it coded so that my streams can only be embedded on my site.
Basically i dont have a clue where to start, how long would it take me to set up etc....
In addition, what kind of server do i need, windows / linux / traffic / burstable / standard etc..

I need to build a video server that supports remote inbound live streams (multiple sources) and multiple outbound streams. I'm interested in hearing feedback or suggestions on Real Media Server, Microsoft Media Server, or other alternatives. Please share your thoughts on any of these. I would prefer Linux hosting and would prefer Windows Media formats. I would love to hear what some of you have had successes with.
I tried to post this request before but my post got deleted ( I think because I was new to this forum ) hopefully this time it will get posted.
I bought a flash live chat script which require a dedicated server as they say in the script requirements but I know it would work using a VPS with root access..
The script can run on both Linux and Windows OS and needs red5 and java
according to the script designers such site with about 100 users can use about 500GB of data transfer per month but I am not sure if that is true or not as I haven't had the chance to test it.
I am donating all the expenses as a gift for my church community and looking for help and advise on the best way to host it
Not sure if I can post the name of the script here or not but if I am allowed I will do that, so you guys can see exactly what I need
Anyone know about these scripts and how much bandwidth and data they need to run lets say with 200 users
With Windows Streaming Services on quad hyperthreading server I was pushing almost 1 Gb/s traffic. With Flash streaming so far we didn't get any high traffic customer. I am curious if what is the max traffic from a single server pushed you've seen by using Adobe Flash (commercial, not red5) server?
i want to ask you something if you know...we have the support of a small tv channel here in my area...they want to have their program live in the net....do you know any good company to give good prices of media live streaming or anything that i can see to help me....maybe some resseler plans in these??...any advices for the type of streaming...
A client has contacted me about live streaming. He wants to broadcast a live meeting over the internet so that other people can watch it.
I've never looked in to something like this - I guess I need to find some software that will let me re-broadcast the stream - ie someone at the meeting would connect to my server and stream it up to the server, and my server would then broadcast it out to anyone who is connected.
So, what sort of software should I be looking at? Are there any guides around on the internet or anything that can help me out?
I have been looking through the forum, but I have had a hard time finding much about this topic. I am attempting to broadcast live video feed on my website and I wanted to set it up so people can view the live streaming video directly on their web browser. I use mostly Windows based servers(Windows 2003 Server and XP Pro). I have looked at different video streaming programs like flash, media player, and divx, which would be the best for what I am trying to do? Computer power and bandwidth are not an issue with my current setup. If anyone has any experience or knowledge on this I would be very grateful for your input. I would appreciate any information involving any of the steps in this process from capturing the video to having users access it on my website.
I'm trying to stream a live video to my dedicated server then re stream it for broadcasting. I also only want this video to be broadcast-ed from my site.
also I would like to do this in windows because I'm not very linux savvy.
I know this type of question pops up every once in awhile here, but we are currently using MediaMax. Upon comparison, MediaMax (formerly Streamload) was the best affordable solution we could find. Lately however, it's been very buggy, and supports takes forever (actually never) responds. Can't seem to find a support phone number for them either.
So I was wondering what other alternatives anyone here is aware of? We have 500+GB worth of AV materials.
I wanna know if upload media to server for streaming will slow your site down?
Reason is that I have a few audio books on my server for my members to listen to, and I have a feeling that my site is using more and more resources and its getting slower and slower each day.
Im working at time with ffserver ... i test ffmpeg with flash streaming and it works perfectly but i want to do anoter step.
Im trying to do a streaming of a file to watch that movie in Windows Media Player. The problem is that i have a lot of errors of "buffer underflow" when i stream the video.
I Post My Config:
Port 8090 BindAddress 0.0.0.0 MaxClients 1000 MaxBandwidth 10000 NoDaemon
I need to host livezilla (live chat software) . It needs php and mysql. Which host provider would you recommend? Its not running from my own server. I don't know why, but giving so many errors! I have seen people are using it ..
I dont know whats wrong with my server having cpanel but many user complains that there flash animation not working on my server . it hanged during loading and always showing loading on page they provide me prove that its working on some other server.
how to optimize a server for playing flash videos?
Here is our website: operationsports.com
In the right menu you'll notice an embedded flash video player.
Often, we receive complaints that our videos are buffering slowly at the beginning causing the movie to stop/pause for a few seconds. After this pause the remainder of the video buffers lightening quick.
I'd like to remove the pause if possible.
The server is a dual processor linux based server dedicated entirely to our video files.
It has plenty of power.
how to optimize a server for playing flash videos smoothly?
I'm a web designer - not an IT guy, as such I'm not 100% on setting up servers/dev environments etc...
I'm freelance and currently working in-house for a client that has set up a dev server that supposedly mirrors their live site - its a catalogue site with loads of dynamic elements.
The dev site they've set up displays only the html, no images or stylesheets link up when i preview them in dreamweaver as they don't logically link to the page as the pages are templates drawn from various folders.
What I want to know is is it possible to mirror a dev server exactly like the live website so the scripts etc all work as they do on the live site. I'm pretty sure it is as I've worked on dev servers before but not one like this bloody mess. The IT bods here seem to think the dev server is the best that is achievable - are they right? am I missing something???
I can't really answer any technical questions apart from i think the dev server is an apache server - what do i need to explain to the IT bods to get my point across?
I have been working on an online shop locally from my machine, using Visual Web Developer and SQL server.
This is working fine, but now its at the stage were i need to show a client. In order to do this i need to upload it to our servers.
What i cant get my head round is the connection to the sql server, do i need to upload this too, or can i somehow point the connection string to the sql server sitting on my local machine...
Is it easier just to upload an sql server? how would i go about this?
I plan to run the live support script for my website. Since these kind of script cause alot of traffic on the site, i am looking for a second server to host it. I think a VPS would be good for it. Anyone here has experience about this or has any reommend for a good VPS server?
I am running a PHPlivesupport.com sript for live support
Say I use about 1 TB of bandwith / month in media: images, small files, etc. What would be the best hosting option? Most shared hosting I've tried have booted me for using too many resources.
