Flash Streaming Media Host
May 9, 2006
Uvault.com does flash streaming media, features unlimited connections, and redundant servers.
Has been around for a while and is a Macromedia Alliance Partner but I cant find any feedback on them anywhere.
Anyone have any information?

I have a VPS server running on Windows 2003, and would like to stream live videos to about 50-80 people. I was wondering is there a way to have a FLASH based stream embed into my website, without paying for a software like Flash Media Server?

I have a question regarding these two services.
With Windows Streaming Services on quad hyperthreading server I was pushing almost 1 Gb/s traffic. With Flash streaming so far we didn't get any high traffic customer. I am curious if what is the max traffic from a single server pushed you've seen by using Adobe Flash (commercial, not red5) server?

I am thinking about making a web site that streams HD movies and videos that I have created myself. I was wonder could you use Adobe Flash Media Interactive Server 3.5 to do so I know i would have to buy a dedicated server and a fast one with a good load of bandwidth. The big question am asking is that can you base a website or content management system around the interactive server.

I know this type of question pops up every once in awhile here, but we are currently using MediaMax. Upon comparison, MediaMax (formerly Streamload) was the best affordable solution we could find. Lately however, it's been very buggy, and supports takes forever (actually never) responds. Can't seem to find a support phone number for them either.
So I was wondering what other alternatives anyone here is aware of? We have 500+GB worth of AV materials.

I need to build a video server that supports remote inbound live streams (multiple sources) and multiple outbound streams. I'm interested in hearing feedback or suggestions on Real Media Server, Microsoft Media Server, or other alternatives. Please share your thoughts on any of these. I would prefer Linux hosting and would prefer Windows Media formats. I would love to hear what some of you have had successes with.

I wanna know if upload media to server for streaming will slow your site down?
Reason is that I have a few audio books on my server for my members to listen to, and I have a feeling that my site is using more and more resources and its getting slower and slower each day.

I am going to be buying a dedicated server from kimsufi Most likely the 2XL Package.
My streamers will be using my server aswell, On weekends we will be running 3-4 streams at a time, weekdays 1-2 at a time.
Spreading all the streams out, at anyone time we will have 300 viewers.
I need to know your advice on this before i go spending money.
How do i convert my dedi into a flash media server, i need red5 or something, thats all i know so far. My streamers wil be streaming to server with FME, And i also want it coded so that my streams can only be embedded on my site.
Basically i dont have a clue where to start, how long would it take me to set up etc....
In addition, what kind of server do i need, windows / linux / traffic / burstable / standard etc..

I tried to post this request before but my post got deleted ( I think because I was new to this forum ) hopefully this time it will get posted.
I bought a flash live chat script which require a dedicated server as they say in the script requirements but I know it would work using a VPS with root access..
The script can run on both Linux and Windows OS and needs red5 and java
according to the script designers such site with about 100 users can use about 500GB of data transfer per month but I am not sure if that is true or not as I haven't had the chance to test it.
I am donating all the expenses as a gift for my church community and looking for help and advise on the best way to host it
Not sure if I can post the name of the script here or not but if I am allowed I will do that, so you guys can see exactly what I need
Anyone know about these scripts and how much bandwidth and data they need to run lets say with 200 users

I'm really enjoying all the helpful topics that this website has to offer . However, I've still been having trouble deciding on a web host.
I'm planning to make a website that will consist of all different forms of media, (video, audio, photos) and I wanted to know if there were any web hosts out there that specialize in that sort of thing?
Also, I wanted to know if Wordpress was a good choice for someone like me who doesn't have a whole lot of website building skill but wants to make a decent looking site.

We looking for a solution for our website. We currently stream about 1.5 TB of videos a month and have about 100 gig of them. We will be opening up our site to allow user uploads, mean that will will also be needing to encode videos.
We are looking at Iwebs Power Servers.
2 x Xeon Quad Core 2.0Ghz
320GB SATA 2
8Gb Ram
10,000GB transfer a month
100mbps link
$240 a month.
We plan on updating the site to run .NET 3.5, this adds $70 month onto the price. Seems like good deal. Can anybody recommend anything better.
For an extra $200 we can upgrade to SCSI. How much will this improve the performance.
Most of our users are in the US and Australia, Iweb servers are located in Montreal Canada. How much will this effect the perfomace of our site.
I have read that some hosts have ffMpeg, Menecoder, FMS3 already installed can andybody point me into the direction of one of these

I have a site going that requires quite a large space/bandwidth host which allows hotlinking/streaming. Currently it's sucking up around 1.3gb space and 50gb/mo, maybe a tad less than that. My budget is low, I've currently been working off free hosts which has been a huge pain.
So basically I need a cheap host with moderate allowances, uptime with a decent speed. But because technically it's just a filehost which allows hotlinking/streaming (maybe even hotlinking protection), I don't need the other jazz to be working.
I saw Brinkster (which doesn't allow streaming, so good thing I didn't buy that) and webhostingpad, which both seem to get terrible reviews here.

First off about myself: I'm your typical knows-enough-to-get-by web design CMS flash type guy. Nothing special no real training but if I need to run a control panel I probably can.
What I need: I'm moving an AM station(oldies) to online streaming and need a host for it. The variable here is the only reason I'm moving the station is because a radio show on it which runs 1 hour every weekday needs to expand our audience and all that good stuff. We'll be expanding the show as far as we can hopefully within the next year and on certain days we'd have more listeners due to having higher profile guests on.
However, since we have the stream 3 other shows on the radio station have offered to pay for the costs(we had to get a cable line run to the station in the first place)- presumably they would have a lower listener rate.
The question is what's the best solution here? We don't want to pay for a 2000 slot shoutcast service right off the bat, but we also need one who can rapidly expand our slots as needed, or possibly have one which just charges based on use. When we get up to high volume would it be smarter for us to just lease an unmetered dedicated server (high assumption of 1000 listeners(which is months off) for 3 hours a day running at 128k bit-rate the bandwidth really starts to add up) or a dedicated server that just charges based on usage. The latter may even be cheaper than using the high-priced-slot-based shoutcast stream servers.
I figure someone out there has already done the research can might know an answer to the problem. The key here is flexibility- no point paying $90-300/month for a dedicated server the first month if we're only getting 200 listeners on our show and 50 for the other shows but if we somehow experience a surge in listeners we don't want to be stuck at a low cap.

I have been experimenting with Fedora 8 as a desktop (64 bit). It is quite good. The only problem I have encountered is using the latest flash. For some reason it actually turns off the computer randomly. I reverted to an older version and it doesn't happen. I am running kde, it behaves the same with gnome or xfce so I know it's not the desktop I am using. It could be nspluginwrapper however, I uninstalled that and tried 32 bit Firefox and it also crashes.
I probably should be in the Fedora forum but I was wondering if anyone else had seen this. I am running AMD X2 5000, 4gb ram, NV 7300.

I have a vbulletin 3.6x forum using IBproarcade module with 200+ games. They all work fine, but during play it seems choppy. I've duplicated this in Firefox 2 (also in new profile) and also IE7. I'm trying to figure out why its choppy (on and off) on any game. Any ideas to trace this or enhance the performance? This is a personal server with a few domains on the box and not an enormous amount of traffic in general, nor at once....

I've recently moved to a new provider and noticed that one of my sites that was using a flash file uploader without any problems now receives a 406 error whenever a file upload finishes.
After some digging online i found that the problem could be caused by mod_security and found a tutorial which explains that by using .htaccess u can disable mod_security for the particular domain. I've tried that but receiving internal server error who seems to indicate that mod_security is not actually running.
I looked at the domain's error log file and no entry is being written to the log when the error occurs.
Anyone have any ideas how to fix it? Or at least where to look for the causes.
I'm using the following flash uploader:

Server is running CentOS and WHM .. the original server that didnt have a problem with the uploads was running Fedora and WHM.

Here you can see the problem and I am unsure how to fix it.
I am using a phproxy script on this domain
www.youtubetvshow.com
When you browse through this site, and look at youtube.com and try and watch a video, it does not allow you to view the flash.
I know this script works as I was using it on my past server.
My server is running on CentOS, with WHM
Does anyone know how to fix this on my server so people can view flash through my proxy site?

Im looking at setting up what is essentially a flash game arcade. It will have other purposes, but flash games will be the focus point.
One of the first things I need to decide (along with a website name...) is which hosting company I want to go with. The only company Ive used before were Dreamhost, who had fairly good service but the uptime didnt seem all too great.
Initially there will only be a small amount of traffic, but I want the option to scale my hosting plan easily as I (hopefully) gain more visitors.
A lot of the game files will be lifted from the mochi games feed, but dont want to limit myself to games hosted by mochi, and I still want to be able to cope if I get any big traffic spikes. I also want to host a couple of other smaller sites on the hosting plan, but they shouldnt reach anything near the arcade.
MediaTemples Grid service looks great, but will probably be providing a far greater service than ill need for the first few months. I dont know how long it will take for me to get any decent amount of traffic, the majority of which ill be getting through self sponsorship of games, and I imagine its a fairly slow process getting a decent stream of visitors through that way.
I just dont wanna be paying $100's for serious hosting if I only get a few thousand hits in the first 6 months, which I imagine is likely!
Does anyone have any suggestions for good companies or starter packages? I dont want to pay through the arse, but I would rather pay more for a faster and more reliable service than go for the cheapest option - I want this to be a quality site.
