I am thinking about making a web site that streams HD movies and videos that I have created myself. I was wonder could you use Adobe Flash Media Interactive Server 3.5 to do so I know i would have to buy a dedicated server and a fast one with a good load of bandwidth. The big question am asking is that can you base a website or content management system around the interactive server.
I have a VPS server running on Windows 2003, and would like to stream live videos to about 50-80 people. I was wondering is there a way to have a FLASH based stream embed into my website, without paying for a software like Flash Media Server?
I have VPS with CPanel and CentOS but i need to install Red5
can it work and can someone post a step by step tutorial host to install Red5. On Red5 web page is tutorial but when i try to install i get some errors and i have low experience in linux.
I am going to be buying a dedicated server from kimsufi Most likely the 2XL Package.
My streamers will be using my server aswell, On weekends we will be running 3-4 streams at a time, weekdays 1-2 at a time.
Spreading all the streams out, at anyone time we will have 300 viewers.
I need to know your advice on this before i go spending money.
How do i convert my dedi into a flash media server, i need red5 or something, thats all i know so far. My streamers wil be streaming to server with FME, And i also want it coded so that my streams can only be embedded on my site.
Basically i dont have a clue where to start, how long would it take me to set up etc....
In addition, what kind of server do i need, windows / linux / traffic / burstable / standard etc..
Uvault.com does flash streaming media, features unlimited connections, and redundant servers. Has been around for a while and is a Macromedia Alliance Partner but I cant find any feedback on them anywhere.
Anyone know where i could find some software like this, it looks about 6 years old www.hallogram.com/leadtool/imgsrv ( see meta tags )
the software is for generating images like this through the querystring localhost/images/53065_383.fpx?wid* =167&ftr=8&effect=dropshadow,0x000* 000,10,8,120,8&cvt=jpeg
the closest i have found is www.scene7.com/solutions/dynamic_imaging.asp (its only a web service) and over 10k yearly
I dont know whats wrong with my server having cpanel but many user complains that there flash animation not working on my server . it hanged during loading and always showing loading on page they provide me prove that its working on some other server.
I installed Adobe Acrobat 7, then needed to start activation process, but the process asked me to restart my computer and close all other application before trying to activate again.
I've tried to stop VPS and Start VPS in my VPS Powerpanel, but the problems was the same as asking me to restart my computer before making the activation.
I also send a ticket to JaguarPC support, the answser was as follows,
"""Since Adobe Acrobat 7 is third party application we do not provide support for it. You need to check with the vendor or consult its documentation in order to fix the issue. """
how to optimize a server for playing flash videos?
Here is our website: operationsports.com
In the right menu you'll notice an embedded flash video player.
Often, we receive complaints that our videos are buffering slowly at the beginning causing the movie to stop/pause for a few seconds. After this pause the remainder of the video buffers lightening quick.
I'd like to remove the pause if possible.
The server is a dual processor linux based server dedicated entirely to our video files.
It has plenty of power.
how to optimize a server for playing flash videos smoothly?
I have been trying to install apache server on a windows pc which will deliver adobe HDS content. there is a specific tutorial for this in the adobe site, can be found here. I have been following it to the word, but when I try to start apache after asking it to load new modules (mod_f4fhttp), it returns me an error saying that the file is not readable/not found. I have installed the proper visual c++ libraries and also checked the permissions and spellings. This seems to be a common error with php modules in apache, but none of the solutions seems to work.
Say I use about 1 TB of bandwith / month in media: images, small files, etc. What would be the best hosting option? Most shared hosting I've tried have booted me for using too many resources.

OS: Windows 2003 enterprise R2 Streaming Protocaol : MMS
my Hosting service (Hostway) offered Windows Media Server at the time. I wanted visitors to have the ability to quickly stream .wma's, so I went for the cost.
now...I'm unemployed; & money is real tight...so, I was thinking of dropping Hostway...going over to GoDaddy; & switching my means of musical delivery to .mp3's.
So:
1) How much slower is mp3 streaming from a conventional server than .wma from a dedicated server?
2) Is there a way to speed it (mp3) up (save decreasing file size)?
3) Will .wma's stream without the dedicated server; & if so...how is that implemented?
I really need to save money in this economy...but I don't want my listeners to suffer. Is that possible?
I have a vps at 3dgwebhosting I would like to install wms I get it installed but when I try to config. a live publishing point it ask for a url for the encoder and where where is it but also when I try to start the point it will not start can some one help?
Most people probably run Linux on their media servers, but since I don't know much about Linux and the media server we have is unmanaged, I was wondering how you guys feel about running Windows Server 2003 Std on a media server instead of Linux. We'll only be using the server to host Flash video files (.flv) and we'll be serving those vids on websites hosted on other servers, resulting in approx. 50,000-100,000 media views per day (filesizes range from approx. 5MB to 10MB). We don't want to run Windows Media Services, just a Web server (IIS6) and have the Flash video players on the external websites take care of the streaming/downloading part.
I need to build a video server that supports remote inbound live streams (multiple sources) and multiple outbound streams. I'm interested in hearing feedback or suggestions on Real Media Server, Microsoft Media Server, or other alternatives. Please share your thoughts on any of these. I would prefer Linux hosting and would prefer Windows Media formats. I would love to hear what some of you have had successes with.
Has any body had experience with the different solutions available for protection your video/audio stream hosted on windows media server. We are planning on launching Media hosting services and are currently considering Video quota to protect clients streams. If there is any other solution,
I have a company that wants to stream some live events via Windows Media Encoder/Windows Media Player. I believe the best route is to use a WMS, stream to the WMS, then the CDN would pull from there for events. Can someone help me explain a Windows Media Server versus a web server? Can you host web sites on a WMS? Is WMS just an extension to a regular Windows 2003 server?
I have been experimenting with Fedora 8 as a desktop (64 bit). It is quite good. The only problem I have encountered is using the latest flash. For some reason it actually turns off the computer randomly. I reverted to an older version and it doesn't happen. I am running kde, it behaves the same with gnome or xfce so I know it's not the desktop I am using. It could be nspluginwrapper however, I uninstalled that and tried 32 bit Firefox and it also crashes.
I probably should be in the Fedora forum but I was wondering if anyone else had seen this. I am running AMD X2 5000, 4gb ram, NV 7300.
I have a flash swf that I use to upload files however to get this to work on the server you have to do something like turn on shockwave uploading? do you know what you need to do to upload using flash swf?
