MaxBandwidth 10000
NoDaemon

<Feed feed1.ffm>
File /tmp/feed1.ffm
FileMaxSize 5M
</Feed>

<Stream test.flv>
Feed feed1.ffm
Format flv
VideoCodec flv

VideoFrameRate 2
VideoSize 848x480
VideoBitRate 256
VideoBufferSize 40

Host That Supports Video Encoding On A Shared VPS

Apr 12, 2008

I have a video site (just embedding) that is pretty small right now. I do not need a dedicated server just yet.

I am currently using westhost and they do not support the typical suite of video software needed to convert videos to flvs. I would like to know if there are any reliable hosts with good support that offer installation of the following software on a shared vps:

X264 Video Conversion Cluster- (To Reduce Encoding Time)

Oct 31, 2008

I would like to know if there's any way we could reduce "conversion times" for videos while converting them with "mencoder" and "x264 codec"?

Is it possible to cluster 2-3 or more servers (Quad core/8GB RAM) so that I can reduce the conversion timings effectively?

The original video sizes are around 500-700MB on an average and I'd like to convert them using mencoder in x264 codec @ 500Kbps bitrate and 2pass settings.

Ofcourse it'll take atleast 1-2hours to encode 1 such video at these settings on a 'single' such server, so is there a way to reduce the conversion times to around 10-15minutes/video by using "parallel encoding" with x264 codec?P.S: I know how to form a cluster, using beowulf/rocks, etc...what I need help with is 'using' the cluster with x264 codec

Streaming Media Hosts

Jul 26, 2007

I know this type of question pops up every once in awhile here, but we are currently using MediaMax. Upon comparison, MediaMax (formerly Streamload) was the best affordable solution we could find. Lately however, it's been very buggy, and supports takes forever (actually never) responds. Can't seem to find a support phone number for them either.

So I was wondering what other alternatives anyone here is aware of? We have 500+GB worth of AV materials.

Building A Streaming Media Server

I need to build a video server that supports remote inbound live streams (multiple sources) and multiple outbound streams. I'm interested in hearing feedback or suggestions on Real Media Server, Microsoft Media Server, or other alternatives. Please share your thoughts on any of these. I would prefer Linux hosting and would prefer Windows Media formats. I would love to hear what some of you have had successes with.

Live Video Streaming

Nov 3, 2006

A client has contacted me about live streaming. He wants to broadcast a live meeting over the internet so that other people can watch it.

I've never looked in to something like this - I guess I need to find some software that will let me re-broadcast the stream - ie someone at the meeting would connect to my server and stream it up to the server, and my server would then broadcast it out to anyone who is connected.

So, what sort of software should I be looking at? Are there any guides around on the internet or anything that can help me out?

Streaming Live Video

Dec 6, 2007

I have been looking through the forum, but I have had a hard time finding much about this topic. I am attempting to broadcast live video feed on my website and I wanted to set it up so people can view the live streaming video directly on their web browser. I use mostly Windows based servers(Windows 2003 Server and XP Pro). I have looked at different video streaming programs like flash, media player, and divx, which would be the best for what I am trying to do? Computer power and bandwidth are not an issue with my current setup. If anyone has any experience or knowledge on this I would be very grateful for your input. I would appreciate any information involving any of the steps in this process from capturing the video to having users access it on my website.

Streaming Video Host

Jun 1, 2009

We looking for a solution for our website. We currently stream about 1.5 TB of videos a month and have about 100 gig of them. We will be opening up our site to allow user uploads, mean that will will also be needing to encode videos.

We are looking at Iwebs Power Servers.

2 x Xeon Quad Core 2.0Ghz

320GB SATA 2

8Gb Ram

10,000GB transfer a month

100mbps link

$240 a month.

We plan on updating the site to run .NET 3.5, this adds $70 month onto the price. Seems like good deal. Can anybody recommend anything better.

For an extra $200 we can upgrade to SCSI. How much will this improve the performance.

Most of our users are in the US and Australia, Iweb servers are located in Montreal Canada. How much will this effect the perfomace of our site.

I have read that some hosts have ffMpeg, Menecoder, FMS3 already installed can andybody point me into the direction of one of these

Video Streaming Website

Apr 29, 2009

I would like to know if there is anything specific I need to know before I open a video streaming site (Examples: Veoh, dailymotion, etc etc). Are there any laws or rules I should follow?

Plus regarding the copyrighted materials I remember there is a US law (I don't live in the US but whatever) that says after you get an email from the company that holds the copyrights regarding a video or whatever you've got some days (? or hours?) in order to remove that content and show "good will" following the rules (Safe Harbor) and they don't "harm" you. Anyone know more regarding this issue?

And one last thing. If I don't store users information (IPs, ISP, etc) which will show that they uploaded the video, in a situation of a copyrighted content will I get in trouble since I can't prove I didn't upload the files?

And last but not least any suggestions on the software and of course the most important the hosting company I should go with?

Where Do I Go For Video Streaming Hosting

Aug 5, 2008

I produce video. My clients want to put education archival video content (Windows media) for students on the web. At most 10 students a day will log on for a few hours.

I also have clients that want live windows media video streaming. Up to 50 users logging in at most for a 3 hour lecture, only a couple times a year at this point.

I'd like to use one company for the archival(on demand) and live web casting/streaming. Any ideas? Or should I just use 2 different hosting companies? Please tell me companies that you like and have used!

Best Solution For Streaming Video

I have a client who wants a bulletproof video feature for his information/news site.

What's the best bet? Some of the FMS companies I've looked at give you 500 simultaneous streams for like $900/mo. What happens when #501 logs on? This is a series of sports events where they expect peaks on certain days, then long periods in between with lower, but still steady, traffic.

Streaming Video Hosting -- Non-Profit

Apr 29, 2009

I work for an NFP and have multiple video files I'd like to setup on my current webserver. As you can guess, i don't have the sufficient bandwidth to support the traffic.

What's the best/most cost-efficient option? What would be ideal is to embed a player into our webpages (similar to what youtube provides) and the streaming is done in the background by the hosting provider. Obviously, there are legal issues around putting this content on any of the free or public video-sharing sites.

Is this something VPS can do or are there separate options?

We're not looking for domain names, IP's or much sophistication other than just hosting the video files and providing us with instructions/code on how to embed inside our existing website.

Video Streaming :: What Type Of Server?

May 29, 2008

What of servers are used by hosts offering packages with this type of support?

I've read that streaming can be made via web server and streaming media server. The first type has only one advantage and this is that it allows to utilize existing infrastructure, while the second type offers more effective network throughput and (what's more important for me as an end-user) allows for better video and audio quality and support of the advanced features.

Now looking at the hosting plans how do I tell which type of server is used by the host?

I'm interested in this particular plan

Solution For Video Streaming Site

I have a friend who has a film production company and he wants to run a site where video clips will be streamed and made available for download.

A developer suggested that we go in either for a VPS or a large shared hosting account, but have the video files stored on Amazon S3 and streamed/downloaded from there. According to the developer, this way, we could make the best use of available resources as Amazon S3 is cheap for storage and we don't need to spend on a dedicated server just for serving the video.

Cheap BW In Europe For Video Streaming

Aug 31, 2008

I have plans for developing a regional (Turkish) video sharing site for domestic uses only (Youtube in our country is still banned and people don't know dailymotion.com).

Cheapest bandwith I can ever find is on leasweb.com (199 eur / 100Mbit, 1069 eur = 1000Mbit). Can you recommend me some bandwith deals? I know some providers like ovh gives 100Mbit for europe traffic, I believe Turkey is considered in this Europe traffic (we have multiple connections to pop locations in Germany, France, Amsterdam etc).

Considering that fact, can I use ovh or dedibox?

Video Streaming And Hosting Site

Mar 22, 2008

I'm the owner of pwn-tube.com and am looking for a dedicated server. It needs to have at least a 250gb hard drive, preferably two in raid. The processor needs to be good enough to convert the files while still keeping a site up and going. For RAM I'm guessing 2-4GB. But most importantly it needs to have unmetered bandwidth, and a 100mbps port, with room to upgrade.

I am expecting to host a sequel to a video exclusively, and the first video had 100,000 views. I'm also going to partner up with a game publisher with 16 million gamers.
