im using simple control panel..I added a domain, setuped the dns settings but it still says page cannot be displayed and i couldn't connect through ftp either to upload my site.It has been 4 days now i have bought.
I have been trying to run my emails accounts from my dedicated server, or just put the emails back to the go daddy secure server net. But I can get this right. Can someone help me? I am using the simple control panel. I went to use a dedicated server because this will give some freedom, but I just realize I may not be ready for this servers yet.
Ive just purchased dedicated server (Windows Server 2003) I need to upload a large ammount of files.

Someone told me to look in the add/remnove programmes @ windows compononents & check that FTP was enabled in the IIS or something I looked, couldnt find the IIS.
how to set up this dedicated server to accept FTP?
I can't believe the hours of BS I had to go through with Godaddy hosting to get a subdomain to work. Their online "help" is horrible, incorrect, and incomplete.
For people who may have this problem, here's what I had to go through:
You can go into "Domain Management" and "Add a Subdomain" and have it point to a specific directory. Fine. That's all well and good, but that in itself does nothing and their help implies that's all you have to do and you're set, boom you have a subdomain. Not so fast.
You have to go into your "DNS Manager" and add a CNAME record with the same name as your subdomain and have it point to @. So apparently you have to change the DNS first so web browsers recognize the subdomain and get redirected to your host, then the domain management "subdomain rule" kicks in and it knows to go to a certain directory.
The funny part is the customer cervice person knew none of this. He kept insisting I had to add an A record, obviously just reading from a script. And even if I did have to mess with my DNS settings to enable my subdomain why wasn't this in the "help" on your website? Unbelieveable.
I just bought a dedicated server with 64 Additional IP's. My question is though, how would I go about setting up SOCKS proxys on them? I've setup some before on some linux box's, but never before on windows.

Trying to set Default Site for a Dedicated IP Address.
I go to Subscription, then to domain > Change Hosting Settings, select dedicated IP address and OK, works fine. Site goes to Default Plesk Page.
Go to Tools & Settings, IP Addresses > Select the dedicated IP address I set above. Change Default Site to site above. Click Ok.
I get the error message above and nothing changes.
I looked on my IIS Server and MailEnable's Webmail is installed under the Default Website.
I have another Dedicated IP on this server and it has a default site on it working properly, but it was set up on the old site and it was configured as part of the Migration using Migration Manager.
I tried deleting the IP address and adding it back in. That didn't change anything. I also tried running: "%plesk_bin%websrvmng.exe" –reconfigure-webmail since that came up under someone else's issue when searching the web and that .exe is what's throwing the error.
We've been using GoDaddy as our dedicated host for about 2 years now. Throughout this time our performance with them has slowed. We have 2 eCommerce websites that receive moderate traffic but not outrageous and a few personal websites for ourselves that get roughly nil. Our entire server uses maybe 60GB of traffic a month as reported by plesk.
A fairly consistent problem we have however is page load time. Our server's CPU load reported by uptime is usually very low in the 0.05-0.15 range even during peak hours. So we doubt that the CPU is the problem. Additionally I have tried saving a static copy of our index page and uploading it to another part of the server and the load time between the static and dynamically generated page appears to be identical.
It appears as though our server allows at max 1-2 connections a time per IP address, or perhaps even globally, to receive data at one time. If I load our index page which is fairly image intensive it takes quite some time for the page to load in. It appears as though 1-2 images at a time are typically loading and that's about the limit. My ping time to the server is usually 50-60ms which really doesn't seem too bad to me, or perhaps I am wrong. If I hop over to a site like Google News however their front page contains probably 50 images and they seem to all load in a matter of moments and my ping to news.google.com is actually worse than my ping time to my own server.
For the lifting our server does I feel it's fairly beefy even given that it's a machine approaching 2 years old. It's a P4 3GHz w/ HT, 2GB RAM, 120GB RAID1 HD. The machine we had prior from another host was a Duron 1400 (iirc) w/ around 512MB RAM and 60GB HD and it didn't stumble on these tasks the way our server with GoDaddy has - again leading me to believe it's either some configuration option or is it just the quality of the GoDaddy network that is leading to these slow load times or page timeouts all together.
We recently purchased a new server with GoDaddy a few months ago and are preparing to migrate our current server to the new box - however given the worsening problems with load times we are simply considering moving elsewhere if it's not something that can be fixed with a config file or in Plesk.
I'm currently running a vBulletin message board with about 26,000 members. At any given time there are about 200 members actively posting.
Right now, we're on a dedicated server with Ilon hosting, however, my members are still complaining that the site runs VERY slowly when there are lots of members online.
To make matters worse, I want to launch a weekly podcast for them, so I'll need even MORE bandwidth.
GoDaddy.com is offering dedicated server accounts with high bandwidth limits (ie 2000 GB). Does anyone have any experience with them? ...
I was looking at Godaddy's grid servers and it says you can have unlimited concurrent connections:
[url]
With dedicated servers if you wanted to have 2 million concurrent users you would need hundreds of dedicated servers in a cluster, but Godaddy grid hosting can do this for $4.99/month:
[url]
Of course currently give users unlimited compute cycles so if they start charging it could increase the price but godaddy don't charge for ram. Of course if you needed more bandwidth you can buy more.
Sure, Godaddy grid hosting doesn't allow videos on your server(embed's allowed) but you wanted to have a website that was at the top of digg and worldwide media outlets reported it, Godady grid hosting would be great for this.
So i guess if i had to choose between a dedicated server and godaddy grid hosting for a forum, i would choose grid hosting because i can have unlimited users online at the same time and not have to worry about cpu load.
I am a PHP/MySQL web developer and I want to take on the challenge of administering my own server.
I have Plesk installed on the server, and I imagine I will have command line access to the dedicated server.
What unknown challenges lie ahead for me? What are things to monitor to keep the site running efficiently? What should I be using to connect to the server? What tools are available to help me be more efficient?
I have a registered domain with oneandone (mydomain)
So what I want is nameservers, ns1.mydomain.com and ns2.mydomain.com when people are viewing any of the sites on my server.
Basically i need to know, step by step on how to, do this, please I have read all the guides but they dont say exactly how oneandone point to my server, I think I have done most stuff on the server side.
So I want a site mydomain2.com they can change their nameservers to ns1.mydomain.com and ns2.mydomain.com and it links to my server.
I have a client who has a ssl cert with godaddy but wants to change his hosting to me because he doesnt like godaddy at all. Can we switch his ssl from godaddy to my server?
i had searching in this forum and in google How to set Subdomain to other server, i had try some of methode but still not working, because i cant set A Name in godaddy, because i use other webhosting outside godaddy
i just have ip address from my other server, i want subdomain to go this ip address, for example 10.42.1.21
what is your experience in godaddy, how to set Subdomain to other server, please give simple step by step dude
This is the scenario, domain.com are setup on server1, however server2 also has the same profile of domain.com as we use ns3 and ns4 using domain.com. This works fine with the nameserver setup on server2.
However I encounter problems as the emails from server2 won't reach server1 as there are duplicate profile on server2.
My question is how do I setup the DNS in cpanel/whm from server2 so the emails from server2 will reach server1?
I am interested in setting up my own server, more than anything just for the experience. I would like it to be a linux-based server and to be managed purly through the command line [i.e. no GUI].
Can anyone point me towards any goods book/resources for learning this? From what I read I believe that sitepoints own book does not cover any command line stuff, and everything happens purly through the GUI.
i bought a dedicated server but i dont know how to configure the dns, finally my brother said that he will setup the server on Wednesday after his work is over..but its quite a long time.can some one pls help me how to set the dns
my nameservers are ns1.vidztec.com and ns2.vidztec.com .
i bought the dedi recently. now since i will be moving all my sites over the server, the nameservers needs to be changed. i asked my host and they said they charge $90 to setup the nameservers, or i can buy the managed package. both costing more money than i thought.
i was wondering there must be a way for setting up one myself? it's a centOS 5. is there a tutorial out there?
I got a VPS, with Ubuntu server on it. I was wondering how i make it so that when it gets http requests, it shows a certain directory? I dont want to install a control panel, i want to learn to do everything manually, so that i can make the VPS show one domain only, with PHP and SQL and all that.
I can find out how to install PHP and SQL, but further than that,
FOr example. demonoid.com resolves to an IP. If you visit that ip directly, you get the site. How do i do that??

setting up a server running ZFS as a backup server. My only problem is that it's very new to me, and naturally I'm skeptical of it's redundancy capabilities etc, I don't want to get burned. Anyone used ZFS, what's your experience with it?
