i had searching in this forum and in google How to set Subdomain to other server, i had try some of methode but still not working, because i cant set A Name in godaddy, because i use other webhosting outside godaddy
i just have ip address from my other server, i want subdomain to go this ip address, for example 10.42.1.21
what is your experience in godaddy, how to set Subdomain to other server, please give simple step by step dude

I am using a cpanel for my site. While I am not using the nameserver of the cpanel hosting for my site. I am using a 3rd party DNS server to handle the DNS thing. I directly point www/ftp/mail/... A records to my site hosting's IP address. And everything works well. But there is a problem, I don't know how to set up subdomain. I created a subdomain with my site cpanel. And it automatically created a root directory for the subdomain under /public_html. ( .../public_html/subdomain/) But I don't know how to make the subdomain work. How to set the DNS records to directly point my subdomain to its root directory on the hosting? I tried to add a A record for my subdomain. But it only direct the subdomain to /public_html the main domain's root directory. Untill now, the subdomain is still pointed to the same page as the main domain.

Godaddy Setting Up A Subdomain, Horrible Customer Service!
I can't believe the hours of BS I had to go through with Godaddy hosting to get a subdomain to work. Their online "help" is horrible, incorrect, and incomplete. For people who may have this problem, here's what I had to go through: You can go into "Domain Management" and "Add a Subdomain" and have it point to a specific directory. Fine. That's all well and good, but that in itself does nothing and their help implies that's all you have to do and you're set, boom you have a subdomain. Not so fast. You have to go into your "DNS Manager" and add a CNAME record with the same name as your subdomain and have it point to @. So apparently you have to change the DNS first so web browsers recognize the subdomain and get redirected to your host, then the domain management "subdomain rule" kicks in and it knows to go to a certain directory. The funny part is the customer cervice person knew none of this. He kept insisting I had to add an A record, obviously just reading from a script. And even if I did have to mess with my DNS settings to enable my subdomain why wasn't this in the "help" on your website? Unbelieveable.

Can I have a primary domain - www.sample.com - point to another primary domain - www.sample.asn.au - but then have the entry point for that domain be a subdomain - www.ccc.example.com? If the primary domain is parked somewhere else, doesn't it mean that all the subdomains will be too? Or do I use a 301 on the primary domain to the .asn.au site? But does that then redirect all the subdomains too?

I have joined Hostgator as my server for my new V bulletin forum and they have uploaded the content needed for my V bulletin forum but I need to write the scripts. I follow instruction from redhat to setup my Centos acts like a router. When i setup the dhcp server, at the end when i start the dhcp, it keeps getting me the failed error. GoDaddy Domain = 404, IP = 403
I used to run a blog on blogger.com and it was going well, but I decided that it wasn't enough having it run by someone else, so I decided to purchase my own hosting to install wordpress and continue the blogging there. I already had purchased the domain name from them, so it made sense to me to purchase some basic hosting from them too, as I'd never really heard anything bad about them. But, now I am having problems. I tried to install wordpress, followed everything exactly, but this lead me to nothing, so I went back to basics, and just put a basic html file on the server, to see if I could look at it from a browser. The domain is: theapblog.com (file= theapblog.com/home.html). Whenever I use the domain name, I get a 404 error, it cannot find the server. If I use the IP address of the server directly, I get a 403 error, so I don't think I can actually access any of the files from a browser. Basically, I'm pretty new to this, and would really like some help. As far as I can guess, it appears as though the domain isn't linked to the server, as surely then it too would return a 403, and as for the 403, I really don't understand.

The domain you are trying to map this IP to, doesn't resolve back to the IP, and so it cannot be set as the default domain for the IP.

Can You Put A Subdomain On A Different Server
I have a design client who's main site (eg. site.com) is currently hosted, let's say, at some-other-host.com. He wants to add a blog to his site. I could just set up a subdomain for it and be done with it, but for SEO purposes, I prefer to put his blog on my server which is a different IP. So is there a way to put his blog, as a subdomain, on my server even though the main site is hosted elsewhere? Is there some magic that can be done in the DNS settings (cpanel/WHM) that can point to the files on my server? Or does he have to simply buy another domain for the blog?

I want to host a personal FTP server for myself and friends at home. I have 30Mbit/30Mbit unlimited optical fiber net with a static IP, so that isn't my problem. I also know how to setup the FTP on my computer. The thing I need help with is the domain. I've edited the master zone on server one and added status.ibeat.org. and www.status.ibeat.org. ... and pointed it with A and CNAME to the other server and related IP... I have also created the subdomain on the second server. So my question is what should I do to get this working? This isn't! Having Subdomain Point To Different Server
I have my myname.com and I'd like to forward home.myname.com to my home server IP. I'm running Linux and Apache on both the server I lease (that has myname.com set up on) and on my home server (hopefully home.myname.com). So far I've tried URL rewriting in .htaccess, which works, but it fowards to my IP in the browser's address bar- Id like to keep the address bar as home.myname.com. Parking A Domain Under A Subdomain
I have 2 domains ie. red.com blue.com. They are both on seperate servers. I want red.com to be a subdomain for blue.com. I went ahead and created an A host for red.blue.com, I then created a virtualhost and everything is working, I can pull up red.blue.com and it pulls up the same data if I were to go to red.com. Here is my issue. I want to have red.com pull up red.blue.com by default so blue.com gets credit for traffic, I am moving red.com and moving it all into blue.com. Hopefully this makes sense. Also, I want to make sure nothing breaks my current search engine results.

When I create the subdomain subdomain.yourdomain.com, the folder /public_html/subdomain/ is created instead of /public_html/yourdomain/subdomain/ Can I assign the /public_html/yourdomain/subdomain/ folder to be the root of subdomain.yourdomain.com? e.g. I have the file image.jpg at /public_html/yourdomain/subdomain/image.jpg and it's accessed from subdomain.yourdomain.com/image.jpg Is this possible? Having a lot of folders directly under /public_html/ would get annoying for me.

I am trying to set up a second computer running Windows Server 2003, named Server02 and configured as a member server in the contoso.com domain. Does anyone know how to do this? ECATEL Server Set-up Times
if any of you could give a quick idea on the set up times for dedicated servers from ECATEL I paid 515 euros 9 days ago, and the server still hasn't been set up (Hardware delivery problems I have been told) and before I ordered, they stated the setup time would be 48 hours. Is this normal? The last email i received from them was 3 days ago. I find this completley unproffesional, It is always another few days. What are your experiences with them? I am utterly dissapointed so far.
