Leaseweb Don't Care About Copyrights

Apr 28, 2009

I have emailed leaseweb's abuse department with a link to one of the biggest french warez forums, they asked me to provide direct links to illegal contents and proof that I own it.

I emailed them links to windows, photoshop, movies, mp3, video games and stated that I don't own those but its clearly illegal. Here is the answer I got from them:
"I am only going to take action if I receive a complaint from the legit
owner."

Host-care.com

Nov 2, 2009

I realize this is an old thread but felt I should put my two cents in as a "host-care" customer.

I quoted out host-care due to the fact I don't actually purchase my hosting from them. They appear to be a provider for other web-hosting companies as I bought my hosting from a seperate vendor. I have also had my account suspended once before due to a problem in my scripting where a while loop continued running.

After 24 hours my site was back up and I had found the error and corrected it. The host-care.com website is the support site for my hosting company and if my hosting company is unable to solve the problem I am able to contact host-care directly.

To me it sounds like the original poster didn't read the TOS before jumping right in and didn't properly test his site before uploading.

All in all I've been with host-care about 2 years now and am happy with them.

HostNine - They Do Seem To Care

Jun 29, 2008

On Thursday, I posted a review (on anther host review site)* of H9 which was not very complimentary to say the least. To my surprise on Friday morning I had an email from Ben Gabler the Operations Manager with H9 and his email expressed some concerns about what I had written. He asked if he could call me to discuss my problems and to cut a long story short, we spent 45 minutes on the phone on Friday afternoon and he gave me the impression that he is a guy who is really concerned that all H9 customers get what they want in terms of both price and service.

Ben's call came at a very opportune moment as on Friday morning I had spent several hours with my new hosting company trying to get tech support from a supposedly 24/7 tech support team - it just didn't happen - and 48 hours later, it still hasn't!

He gave me several good reasons to have another go with H9 - none of them monetary! One of the things we discussed at length was tech support. Ben explained to me why they were trying to get customers to use tickets rather than the telephone, the reasons are to long to go into here but I do now believe that for 99% of everyday problems it is actually better to use a ticket system rather than the phone. I am surprised at my own reaction here because I far prefer to pick the phone up than tap away at the keyboard, but as Ben pointed out, with a ticket system, you have a full trail of what was said by by yourself and the person dealing with the ticket - ain't no arguing with that!

I have to say that I was very impressed that he looks at the reviews posted here and he was concerned enough about my complaint to actually do something about it personally.

So, I decided to give H9 another try. During the early hours of Saturday morning, H9 transferred several accounts from the other web hosting company to my H9 account, For the most part the transfers went without a hitch and the one problem there was was sorted within 10 minutes of my seeing and reporting it to H9.

So from a good start to a patchy week, I have come back to being a very satisfied customer.

If no one objects, I'll post regular updates here.

Tim

*I have since tried to add a correction to the review that I wrote but is seems that it can’t be done and I have had no reply to the email I sent to the site’s admins asking to add to the review. That is why this is being posted here.

Apache :: How To Take Care Of Case Sensitivity In URL

Feb 25, 2013

I setup Apache 2.2.21 on a Win7 (32-Bit) Desktop with SVN 1.5.6 and WebSVN 2.3.3.

My problem lies with navigating to view the repository thru websvn.

I only want my users to be able to access the websvn thru this url, 'myservername/websvn' but they are able to access it thru other variations of the url, eg.'myservername/WebSvn', 'myservername/wEbSvN', 'myservername/WebSVN'.

I am using CheckCaseOnly but it still does not solve the problem. Here's the code of my config file for websvn,

#Alias /websvn/ "C:/Program Files/Apache Software Foundation/Apache2.2/htdocs/websvn/"
<Directory /websvn/> Options FollowSymLinks CheckCaseOnly on
#Redirect any requests to this page to the page u want FallbackResource listing.php Order allow, deny Allow from all <IfModule mod_php4.c>

Dont Use CALPOP.com

Aug 22, 2005

I had my server shut down due to ddos attacks and proxy calls. I am a designer so I dunno what this means so I asked for proof and they said it was archived. I then tried getting my servers back online with them for over the last few hours and they replied we cant help you. I offered $3000usd to fix the problem and they said they cant do it. From where I come from, if a virus is added it can be removed under any circumstances. I then kept on phoning to get my server restored hense I am selling a lot of website property lately and he totally by passed that, I was put on hold for over 20 minutes and I am calling from Canada. I phoned the last time and told a white lie saying I have huge partners ready to boycott their company unless they restore my server....

What do you know it got restored and I got all my sites moved over to the new server, but this is the golden part.

Have you ever phoned your hosting company and been sworn at? Been called a ****ing idiot or to **** off and stop phoning, or I have had enough of your ****ing ****? Well this is what I heard from Ben at CalPOP and that is totally unacceptible hense I am the customer who was about to purchase numerous servers from them to increase my bandwith usage I would be using on my upcomming site called thewetwilly.com.

I dont respect a programming punk thinking he is better then me just because he works for a low end database center. I also dont respect being called an idiot while I am purchasing hosting from the company, aswell as being to to **** OFF. 100% totally unacceptable.

Alot of my friends have experienced poorness with this company and I wish I noticed it earlier instead of taking it the hard way/HARSH WAY.

But hey I am sure my word will get around and people will stop using calPOP due to their immaturity Cali Mr know it all talk and realize that they can find a better place to host their site.

I also have been told that calPOP used the excuse of DDOS and Proxy attacks as an excuse to get rid of you because you are using to much bandwith.

Oh they also told me that they would send me the HD for $100usd so I could move to another server, wtf is that???

Like come on!

I Dont Like SLHOST.COM

Sep 21, 2008

I've been using SLHOST.com for a couple of years, and they used to have great VPS service. My server was always up (I'm not a power user, I just host some small business websites for clients of my web design company - nothing that gets a lot of traffic or puts a strain on the server).

They recently moved locations, and I've had nothing but problems. They somehow screwed up the IP and DNS of the server. My (and my clients sites) couldn't be accessed for over a week! Support kept telling me that there was no problem, unti I proved to them that the DNS wasn't right. I didn't have any email during this period, and either did my clients.

Since then, AT LEAST one of the services on the server randomly stops working (the two big ones are DNS and STMP) a couple of times a day. I don't receive error messages (I know because my clients call me screaming why their email isn't working AGAIN).

As a web design company, I've lost reputability. As a professional affiliate marketer, I have literally lost over a thousand dollars because of the downtime. Every time I contact support, they restart the services and tell me there's no problem with the server (which is obiously not true).

Any suggestions from other webhostingtalk users on how to get better service and a credit from SLHOST.com? I'm not technical and I need a VPS that just simply works.

I recently started monitoring my server 2 days ago with hyperspin. I can post my support emails here as proof and verification that these problems are occuring multiple times a day.

2 Years With Lunarpages And I Have Left ... DONT USE!

Sep 13, 2008

While lunarpages is kind and offers great support. The support takes a while. They frequenlty get hacked or block your ip to where you can not access cpanel and switch your servers a lot in the past 3 months i got transfered to 4 different servers with the last one atlantis and prior one belogna. There support can take up to 72 hours to respond back where other hosts at max 24 hours. Their downtime has been around 97% not advertised 99.9%.

This is what really upset me.

I contacted them through email to cancel my account and they said they need more info, ok. Gave them info and they went ahead to renewing the account after I had gave them proper info. I tried to get this resolved for over a week now.

I thought since they renewed my account i should access my account and download my entire site, well I could not access cpanel again, no surprise there.

I just now got off a 20 min phone call and they tried to get my account canceled as I gave proper info to cancel the account so I would not be renewed and they tried to sell me their service for $75 to close my account.

I eventually had to threaten them to press lawsuits "not that I would even if it wasnt handled" and they said we will close your account and not charge you the $75 to do so.

My god! How hard is it to close an account with such service?

When I joined them my first year was absolutely great! It just has started to decline in the past couple months or so.

I rate them at 50% great because their supportive in all areas except for the slow response and canceling an account.

Dont use them ive had much better success with GoDaddy.... wow GoDaddy! I know tell me about it. GoDaddy is not my favorite host.

You need to be careful when finding a host becasue ive learned that they pay to be on the top. I am now using Host Gator with no compaints looking at moving to HostMonster for the price and services though should I?

CPanel / Bandwidth - Calculations Dont Add Up

Jul 23, 2008

1. I have loads of these showing up in the WHM Apache service status

52-1 - 0/0/8 . 0.00 3970 0 0.0 0.00 20.02 127.0.0.1 server.mybox.com OPTIONS * HTTP/1.0
53-1 - 0/0/6 . 0.00 3969 0 0.0 0.00 79.77 127.0.0.1 server.mybox.com OPTIONS * HTTP/1.0
54-1 - 0/0/5 . 0.00 3968 0 0.0 0.00 38.04 127.0.0.1 server.mybox.com OPTIONS * HTTP/1.0

I was told that was normal as its apache's MPM prefork way of waking up the worker processes. That I have accepted however it has been problematic ever since I installed mod_security that things have been going ape.

2. The Bandwidth in CPanel and that in Apache does not add up. There is only 1 account on the server. The bandwidth usage in CPanel shows 51GB for the month of July so far, however in WHM under Apache status it shows 223GB of Bandwidth in the last 48 hours.

Now given the the host tells me that CPanel does not count certain bandwidth(?) I am not certain what to think as the difference in bandwidth is a whopping 160GB in the past 2 days.

WHM

Server uptime: 1 day 17 hours 54 minutes 31 seconds
Total accesses: 87589 - Total Traffic: 222.5 GB
CPU Usage: u110.4 s13.25 cu0 cs0 - .082% CPU load
.581 requests/sec - 1.5 MB/second - 2.6 MB/request
15 requests currently being processed, 3 idle workers

CPanel

Monthly Bandwidth Transfer 51915.52
Total50.7 Gig

Server Load 1.7GHZ Machine with 1GB Ram

Server Load 0.25 (1 cpu)

Why such a HUGE difference in bandwidth?

Php 5.2.1 Dont Work As Httpd Module

I've tested this with a standart ./configure without any parameters for both php and httpd, and httpd is always not working when it tries to load php 5.2.1 as module.

Did someone run php 5.2.1 with httpd >2.2.3 succesfully?

now I moved my forum over to the server all was ok after I got the massive database sent over but when I tried to view a thread or category I could not it came back with No Valid input or something like that

I went into admin and disabled zoints SEO mod and the forum works fine BTW its a VB forum.

would it be due to mod rewrite that the forum does not work with zoints? and is it possible to get it to work?

I had have many issues with them like 1 - 2 hours downtime but that's not really matter.

Now the server is down for more than 14 hours and still not up. I have even asked them to transfer this vps server to another working node but they are not responding.

DON'T CHOOSE DME HOSTING .COM FOR VPS SERVERS........IF YOU NEED HIGH UPTIME AND SECURE DATA.

IWeb Technical Support Reps And System Admins Dont Understand Basic TCP-IP Networking

Aug 22, 2008

I want to pass on a warning before anyone goes with iWEB. I just ordered a $269 a month dedicated server so I could run vmware on it for my own virtual machines that I need.

With this server I got 7 IPs.

The primary IP they assigned me is say for example: 70.xx.15.171 with a GW of 70.xx.15.161. The secondary ips they issue me are 70.xx.18.249-254. So these are on a completly different subnets.

After talking on the phone to several differnt people including tech support who tells me this will work jsut fine useing thoes secondary ips on my VMs and to not put a gateway address. I talk to my account manager he says to open a ticket that he will forward to their system admins.

This is the ticket I opened.

I just got a new server set up CL-T113-140CL. It was
assigned the primary ip of 70.xx.15.171 with a GW of 70.xx.15.161. My
secondary ips are 70.xx.18.249-254. The server we got from you is a
VMWare host. We need to use the secondary IPs for the Guest VMs. How
ever the primary and secondary IPS are on different subnets and so
the VMs useing the IPs 70.xx.18.249-254 can not talk to the gateway.
I need to have a gateway server IP to use for my VMs.

Please either give me a valid GW address for the 70.38.19.x subnet or
assign new secondary IPs on teh 70.xx.15.x subnet with a SM that can
talk to the 70.xx.15.161 GW assigned.

this is the reply I get back from their system adminstrator

The gateway to be used for your secondary IP addresses is the same as
the one for your primary. You should not have anything to change,
gateway-wise. Just leave the current one as default gateway and
everything should work just fine.

If there is anything please do not hesitate to contact us.

Are they brain dead at iWEB? DO they understand basic TCP-IP networking at all?

Here is my last reply. I tried to make it real simple for them to understand.

This does not address the issues. Do you even know what a virtual
machine is? It is a virtual computer running on the host computer.
The host computer has a valid ip address of 70.xx.15.171, sm:
255.255.255.224 gw: 70.xx.15.161. The virtual machines (or guest
operating systems) if I assign it the IP address of 70.xx.18.249 SM:
255.255.255.248 with no gateway it is physically impossible for it to
reach the gateway of the host pc 70.xx.15.161. You have to understand
the Virtual Machine operates as a completely separate computer. It
requires its own gateway. with no gateway specified it has no way to
get out of its local subnet to get to the 70.xx.15.x subnet. What
happens if you put two physical computers on one hub. The computer on
port 1 of the hub has the IP info 70.xx.15.171 SM: 255.255.255.224 GW
70.xx.15.161. The second computer is on port 2. It has the ip info
of: 70.xx.18.249 SM: 255.255.255.248 GW: NONE.
How is the pc on port 2 going to communicate with the pc on port
1? This is the exact situation we are in. There has to be a
gateway to route the IP traffic from pc2 to pc1 to get onto the
internet.

LeaseWeb - KVM

Apr 25, 2009

I recently ordered a HP ProLiant DL180 with LeaseWeb. During pre-sales communication on April 3rd I was told that the KVM card that comes with DL180 is buggy and I won't be able to use it until HP fixes it. Considering the "strategic partnership" between LeaseWeb and HP, I thought they'd fix the problem quickly, so I went ahead and ordered the server anyway. Now it's been 3 weeks and still no word on the fix. Anyone else with a DL180 in the same situation?

Leaseweb.com

Apr 23, 2009

I want to share my history/review with leaseweb.com..

I needed a quick setup server for a Windows Media Services service, I have several servers at softlayer.com but I decided to test one of the most famous European providers leaseweb.com .

So I talked with their sales and told that I need a 24 hour setup server, I wanted only that. So the sales quickly make pay for 6 months of an express windows server. No problem until now.

24 hours later I contacted their sales, and they said that my server would be provider today or maybe tomorrow (48 hours later!)

1 day later I contacted leaseweb and they said that they didn't have any stock of hardware to make the server.

2 days after the order on this day morning I contacted their sales and setup team again and they said to me that my server would be delivered before the end of the day.

At the end of that day I contacted their sales and setup team AGAIN and they said to me that they don't have stock of windows 2008 or windows 2003 standard (? WTF ?), I talked with them for more than half an hour.

They wanted to give me for the delay a cheaper server with a windows server 2003 WEB. WHAT? A windows that don't even support windows media services and a cheaper server for their mistake?

I asked if I waited one more time if they would be able to setup any server with windows 2008 or windows 2003 standard, the answer was "we don't know"..

So let’s resume, leaseweb only works from 9am to 5.30pm European time, they can spend 4 days without hardware or windows stock ( how is that possible ) and they want to apologize with a cheaper server with a cheaper windows...

....

So to any of you that have servers at leasewed.com , what will happen to you when some part of your server stop working?? You will have to wait more than 4 days for hardware stock, some days because of your windows licenses and some more weeks for support??

....

I would recommend anyone to pay more for a good company, not this companies that only can support your server 5 days a week for some hours a day.

I have asked for a refund at leaseweb.com let’s see if that refund comes or not, maybe in 6 weeks?

Don't know what it means. Kind of censorship?

Whatever, I'm going to tell you how they are good at Leaseweb:

They have no dectection of duplicated IPs, so they let you configure an IP belonging to somebody else on your interfaces.

If, evently, the problem is detected (somebody else complaining), instead of pulling the plug, they send you a mail, kindly asking you to remove the offending IP.

So they are very good at Leaseweb. They forgive your errors and let you experiment with the network.

And what about "somebody else" having his web site down during several days waiting for you to correct your mistakes?

Anyone On Leaseweb

May 21, 2008

Is there anyone here using leaseweb? Was hoping I can get a user who is using their server to give me their IP to check out the speed. I prefer to get real user's ip rather than IPs provider by the provider to ensure I get the real picture.

Another Bad Experience With Leaseweb

Jun 19, 2008

We ordered dedicated server on leaseweb in beginning of April 2007. We are small company so selected most cheap of available solutions. All what we needed is some reliable network and hardware for our services, to make it stable for our customers. I paid from my personal Visa, it seems it was a mistake and we needed more reliable way to pay to Leaseweb, anyway I think this is not related to problems we experienced. It was agreed that Leaseweb will charge us automatically at the beginning of every month, using same card.

Everything was just fine for several months. We received invoices by email, I checked bank records periodically and made sure card is billed. First alarm came at the beginning of October 2007, when I received odd email from Leaseweb re: Final Payment Reminder marked as URGENT. I checked bank records and found that we are actually charged for this. I contacted Leaseweb and asked what's happened (ts #302732). Reply was very short: "Apologies. Please ignore the reminder. It has been paid". Well, fine, we understand, such things may happen sometimes, no problem. So we forgot about this small incident.

Next one happened early December 2007. Same situation, but this time nobody billed the card. Requested Leaseweb again, answer was "Unfortunately this seems a little error from our side. Please ignore the reminder as it has been successfully debited." (ts #321403).Well, okay.

But it happened again in beginning of January 2008. This time I sent short message like "guys, tired from your small errors", nobody replied, but issue was resolved.

When it happened next time in March, I ignored it (not specially, just missed the mail).

It seems issue was resolved, however, and charge was made.

All the above cannot be considered as a serious problem, just some unpleasant and alarming thing. Real problems started in beginning of May 2008, when my card became expired. Leaseweb administration informed me they are not able to bill me anymore, and asked for wire transfer. I updated Financial section in SSC with new card info and asked to repeat the bill with these ones because I have no chance to send wire transfer by 9th of May. They said ok (ts #374569). No more questions or requests from Leaseweb.

19th May our server got down without any visible reason. When I contacted Leaseweb, they said I didn't pay invoice, and if my card info was changed why I didn't send new credentials to them etc. I replied "how so, I updated SSC, I informed you, you said ok" etc. No reply. Then 21th May they restored the service and sent apologies(ts #374569). I think it is not necessary to explain how much fun we had in these 2 days. We had to urgently restore sever on our local network that is not reliable enough but better than nothing. Switching DNS, payment processors, setup of app and DB etc. But we didn't complain. I decided there is a part of my fault here, I didn't performed necessary actions in advance. So we just moved everything back, and forgot about the issue, and were hopeful our problems with leaseweb will not happen earlier than card is expired next time. But we were wrong.

7th June server was disconnected again, with no any alert, notification or even invoice.

Just disconnected. More than, when we checked it, we found that our IPs are used by another server already. I sent quite angry mail to Leaseweb, we started to restore server from backup and damn Leaseweb. 17th June (! in 10 days, can anyone imagine?) they wrote:

"Your server has been decommisionned by accident. We can offer you 1
month for free if you want for a new server with the same
specifications." (ts #374569)

No comments, except that we refused the offer. Our losses only on refunds and CHBs are much greater than "1 month for free", not counting other losses that we cannot estimate in money yet. But even if these guys by some miracle suggested to compensate all the damage, it would not change anything. Idea of use dedicated server is service stability.

But stability is just not possible with these Leaseweb terrorists. Nobody knows what bomb they will blow up in another couple of months.

In summary, I think people who works with Leaseweb take significant risk for their business. I'm just hopeful this story will help to make right decision for some people.

Leaseweb, It Had To Be Coming

Feb 29, 2008

In January I ordered a server with them, knowing that their support isn't the "best".

The server info ended in spam folder, but that isn't their fault I guess. They advertise that every server comes with 2 IPs, however you only get 1. Until you request that 2nd IP. However, when you call them out of working hours, they tell you that you have to pay 135 euro (about 200 USD), great I will wait for tomorrow then. So the day after I called them again. The person I talked with, was very friendly and started to work on it. About 5 hours later I received an email with the second IP information. I added it, but it didn't get assigned. I rebooted the server etc. Still no 2nd IP. It was already 'after working hours' so I had to wait again, because I wasn't going to pay 200$ for an IP. The day after the guy on the phone tells me they assigned me an IP that was already assigned to another customer (lol)..... Ok, so I asked him if I could get a different IP than I was supposed to get. (Now I had to fix my DNS settings also, but o well....). The new IP info arrived in my inbox about 80 minutes after the call this time. After rebooting the server everything ran flawlessly. I manage my own servers, so I didn't contact their support again.

On the 21st of february, I called their administration about cancelling the server (they had a new offer, which suited me better & because I only wanted a fast network for this server, I didn't care about their support), I was told that if I submitted their cancellation form the same day or the day after, It would be taken care of before the end of the month. So I filled it in and sent it to them on the day after (22 february).

Today I called their administration to check if everything went ok (I didn't want to order the new server & pay the old one at the same time). I was told: No, it isn't cancelled. She checked that my email was there & indeed it was sent to them. She then asked me if I could wait a minute, so she could ask someone else what to do. She told me that she would assign me to a sales guy, who would be able to tell me more about it. He told me that the cancellation has to be done X days in advance. Which I did, then he said: It has to be done a month up front. I asked him why I was told that it would be cancelled on the 22 of february, but now I had to cancel it the 1st of february. He said it was a mistake. There was "nothing" he could do (or wanted to do). I don't have the time do anything about it, so I'll let it be and just pay for another crappy month.

Great, now I'm fed up another month with their server. What if I didn't call them today? I would have had 2 servers with them & they would have, the only thing they want: Money.

Just One Bad Leaseweb Experience.

Jun 30, 2008

Wherever Leaseweb offers or offered colocation or dedication the computer floors are always overheated. Prevention of Power failure is reduced to the absolute minimum. This month they had problems again in their socalled own datacenter. Nobody ever mentioned that the center they use in Haarlem Holland is not even theirs. The problem occured again when we were looking for a provider, beginning of this month. We all know when the temp goes up on the floor, the server goes down: laws of nature!

My Experience With Leaseweb

Aug 22, 2008

I went through the purchase process and leaseweb answered any questions I had quickly and was always there for me until they recieved my money. I did make a mistake ordering a server that I knew very little about *I definitely chose wrong box)> I understand its not their fault, but it looks like they could have came up with a solution like they did when I was trying to purchase server (Had VAT issues they fixed very quickly. Its been 3 days and 4-5 emails and they have not reponded to even one of them. Its a shame too, as I had herd good things about the company.
