Email Function Not Working (MS Window Server 2003)
We have a MS Window server 2003 with SP2, currently there is a website running, the webiste is desgined by using asp.net 2.0 c#.
We reinstalled the window server 2003 last week, and we found the email functions not working any more(users in the website can't receive email each other).
I have spent days and trying to figure out, but no luck, I have tried to reset the IIS settings, SMTP Virtual settings, and add/remove windows componets settings...

PHP Mail() Function Not Working With Lighttpd
I recently started using lighttpd + with PHP using Fast-CGI on a server hosting 14 blogs powered by WordPress, the server works great and this change reduced server load in about 50% which is nice for us, considering some of our blogs have a very high visitor traffic. Our only problem so far is that since we switched to lighttpd the PHP's mail() function is just not working. I have compiled and re-compiled PHP and Lighttpd without any effects. I have a test site still working with Apache and PHP scripts can send mail without problems. I've searched forums and Google for some kind of answer but none whatsoever maybe someone can give me pointers on how to solve this. Thanks a lot!! Email Stopped Working On Server
Recently I noticed that I was not getting any email on my server. Server is running CentOS When I send email to myself I am not getting anything and then it bounces back several days later saying the server is not responding. When I check on Dnsstuff.com I get the following: Trying to connect to all mailservers: mail.webzila.com. - 216.32.77.68 [Could not connect: Could not receive data: Operation timed out.] [Note that if your mailserver takes over 30 seconds to respond, our test will timeout, even though real mailservers will wait longer] I tried turning mail services OFF and then ON again in Plesk but that didnt help.

CPanel/WHM Server - Email Not Working
Just got a new server online this week from VolumeDrive, and everything has been going just fine with my initial setup. I transferred over 7 domains from another cPanel/WHM machine and the transfer feature worked flawlessly. Since I use Gmail for most of my communication, I haven't even had any email accounts setup on any of my domains in quite sometime. So knowing that I need a few setup for various correspondence, I went ahead and set one up tonight. I've setup and used mailboxes on cPanel machines before, and it's not exactly rocket science... pretty easy stuff. But what's weird here is that when I attempt to click on the "Webmail" icon from directly within cPanel, the Horde login fails over and over again. Then, if I setup the account in Thunderbird or Outlook using the CORRECT account information (username@domain.com as the login -- and the appropriate password/server settings), the client login fails also. To add to this weird behavior, I sent myself an email at the newly setup address with a 2mb attachment. Obviously I can't login to the account to see if the mail arrived, but at least it didn't bounce. However, when I'm in cPanel under this domain and go to "Email Accounts", I'm showing "0 Bytes" for usage under the account where i know there should be at least 2mb worth of usage.

How To Track Email That Is Not Working
how exactly email works. For example, I set my mx record to google apps in order to use google mail with my own domain. Thing is, I can sent from google mail now with my domain email address but cannot send. Furthermore, login to my website email bij www.domain.com/webmail is possible but receiving is impossible and even sending email from that place will not work. SBS And Exchange 2003 Email
I have a client with SBS 2003 and exchange. They had a bad HDD (it held the exchange .edb and .stm files). I installed the new HDD, configured Exchange to use the new HDD for the files but I did not mount it when it was done because I was in a rush. I came back into their office first thing in the morning and mounted the volume. However, they did not get any emails during the night. My question is: The emails that were sent to them, are they gone forever? Did they get bounced back to their senders? If not, can they be recovered?

CPanel- Accounts Transferred, Email Not Working
I tranferred all my accounts from my old cpanel server to my new one, Updated the DNS records with my registrar to the new ips, unfortunately e-mail is not working, i used the trouble shooter and seems to trying to relay or something my mail to the old IP. I keep getting this error when trying to send to an account IPdoes not like recipient. Remote host said: [IP DOMAIN] is currently not 550-permitted to relay through this server. Perhaps you have not logged into 550-the pop/imap server in the last 30 minutes or do not have SMTP 550 Authentication turned on in your email client. Giving up on [IP].

I have a W2k3 server with only one domain, it's manually configured in IIS and DNS locally on the box, and I don't want to put a mail server on the 2003 server. I also have a *nix box running cPanel. I was wondering if there is a way to just set my MX record to teh cPanel server so that I can get mail there. The only problem is, I'd have to add the domain in cPanel, right? Is there going to be any issues with this if the DNS information for the windows domain isn't pointing to the cPanel server.

does anyone know what would cause a linux box (CentOS) to suddenly stop asking to overwrite or not? Like before on this 1 particular box I would have to type: cp file.txt file2.txt -f in order to enforce overwrite but recently if I do cp file.txt file2.txt it doesnt ask if I want to overwrite the file, it just does it I think this happened with updating to the newest kernel and/or CENTOS 5 how to turn it back on so you have to answer YES/No (y/n)?

Sending Email To Another Server When The Email Address Domain Is On This Server
I currently have a domain on Server 1 (Linux, Apache, Ubuntu, Matrix control panel). This server does not have any spam filter, so I have moved all the email accounts to Server 2 (Linux, Apache, Fedora Core, Plesk) which does have a brilliant spam filter; and have changed the DNS record for mail.domain.com to the IP address for Server 2. Emails are being successfully received on Server 2. On Server 1, when an email is sent through SMTP to an address at that domain, it does not send it to Server 2, it gets delivered to the hosting account for the domain on Server 1. So what I am guessing is happening is that Server 1 detects the domain has an account on the server, and instead of looking up the DNS info for that domain, just assumes it is on Server 1. What I need to do, is force Server 1 to send email for that domain to Server 2. Is this possible, and if so, how can it be achieved? If more info about the server is required for a solution please let me know and I'll provide what I can.

Media Server Running Windows Server 2003 Std: Yes Or No
Most people probably run Linux on their media servers, but since I don't know much about Linux and the media server we have is unmanaged, I was wondering how you guys feel about running Windows Server 2003 Std on a media server instead of Linux. We'll only be using the server to host Flash video files (.flv) and we'll be serving those vids on websites hosted on other servers, resulting in approx. 50,000-100,000 media views per day (filesizes range from approx. 5MB to 10MB). We don't want to run Windows Media Services, just a Web server (IIS6) and have the Flash video players on the external websites take care of the streaming/downloading part.

VMware Server Under Windows Server 2003
I yesterday installed VMware Server under Windows Server 2003 x64, Enterprise Edition, and have this morning noticed the message 'Service unavailable' when browsing to a website hosted on the server under IIS. I have briefly looked into the problem and found the DefaultAppPool stopped, but after restarting it, it resets back to the stopped state when I once again browse to a hosted website. Does anyone have any experience of this problem and a workaround?

I have home network of 5 computers and 1 server running server 2003. I'm trying to use the IIS on the server to run multiple sites (for design purposes). i've installed DNS and setup my primary zone "shane.com" in "forward zone" i've added Host(a) and called it "test6" in IIS i've set up a new site and in host header value i've put test6.shane.com. everything works great on the server. when i type in [url]in the browser the page comes up without any problems. however when i do the same thing on the other workstations it pulls up the page some some other page from the internet and not my LAN as if it wasn't connecting to the primary DNS (which i changed to my server's ip 192.168.1.2). what am i doing wrong? why does it work on the server but not on any other workstation on my LAN?

DNS- Server 2003 WE
I have just recieved a new machine from leaseweb. I have no other machines in any of their datacenters so this may be something specific to there firewall rules. The machine came with leaseweb dns server entries, they wouldnt resolve any addresses so i changed them to openDNS addresses for the time being (208.67.222.222 / 208.67.222.220) These DNS servers I know to work, however they still fail to resolve addresses either by nslookup or through a browser. (DNS Request Timed Out) the server can ping the opendns addresses. I have verified that the DNS Client service is started. I dont know of any dependancies of the DNS client service - although I have noticed that leaseweb disable a lot of services on their default install. - Could it be a service that isnt started thats stopping DNS from resolving? I dont want to configure the Microsoft DNS server on this machine although I will if neccesary.

Www. Not Working For All Domains On Server
I'm currently experiencing a problem where all domains on a server are not resolving with www. --- the domains themselves resolve fine, but the www. cnames are not resolving to the domains. This has caused quite a frustration and I'm wondering if anyone else has encountered this and if there is a quick fix to resolve it. Email Issues When Email Is On Another Server
I have a client who has his own hosting account, and wants to leave his e-mail on his own hosting account, but his website on my hosting account. On his own hosting he has created a sub domain called shop, and pointed its A record to the IP address of my server. On my server I've setup his domain name, and created the sub domain shop. That all works fine. The problem I have is that the site under the shop domain needs to send an e-mail to sales@hisdomain.com. Now my server thinks the main domain is setup on my server, so it sends the e-mail to itself. I'm justing wondering how I can get the server to point the mails back to his hosting? A previous host I've used said they had to add the domain as a remote domain on the server, then they had to make some changes to /etc/localdomains because I was getting errors trying to send mails to the address.

This is my first dedicated and I am plugging away at it.I am running windows server 2003 web edition and I have my database, website, and ftp setup and everything is working so far. Now if you go to 66.96.196.102 my site that I'm working on will show up. My question is my domain and site that I am in the process of moving is hosted on a shared server on 1and1. I work for a big organization that has a check list for standard windows server 2003 installation. The list includes stuff such as , removing some users and adding some domain users, changing system name, windows update, ie7 installation, adding the system to the domain, installing norton anit virus from file shares and so on. Is there anyway to auto mate this or atleast everything to do with system settings including windows update ? (Minus norton install) I am sure one can make an answer file but i am not convinced by that answer as the post installation changes require editing regedit and other local security policies.

Windows Server 2003 AD / DNS
We have two Windows Server 2003 machines as active directory controllers and DNS servers for our in-house operations. For our purposes, let's say the domain name is example.com. Both servers have DNS, and example.com is stored in Active Directory to allow us to use the benefits this provides. Our issue is probably simple, but I'm not sure how to fix it. Let's call server one EX1, and server two EX2. These have local IPs of 192.168.1.111 and 192.168.1.112, respectively. We want example.com to be resolved to an external IP address (for web hosting), let's say 1.2.3.4. The problem is, the two domain controllers keep registering example.com with their internal IP addresses .111 and .112, so the DNS round-robins between 1.2.3.4 and the two internal servers, which aren't web servers. Is there a way we can get those DNS controllers to stop registering their internal IPs as example.com?

Windows Server 2003 - What Edition To Go With
I've been working on a large online browser game for the last year on and off - it's due to open for beta in Oct. This game is coded in PHP/AJAX with MySQL. It's quite heavy on different graphics with characters, items, illustrations etc. It will also have a selection of Flash games to play. Similar gaming sites have more than 1000 users online in peak hours and we estimate that and more within the first 3-5 months of opening. I want to open my site on a Windows Server as I'm a lot more familiar with Windows (Having an MCP for Windows Server 2003). I am unsure however what edition to go with. At first I thought Windows Server 2003 Web Edition (Being a website!), but this only supports up to 2gb of ram I believe? and may prove to be an issue if we need to upgrade due to the high demand of online users. I understand I can have more than one server, but would you recommend another edition?

I have to setup a company server over a huge hardware profile made for me: - 8 cpu - 16gb RAM - gbits LAN - 1 TB of RAID-5 storage bay The server will be splitted in two server (it's actually a balde running ESX and two guests). My question is: - I am better to setup 64 bits or better run the old and stable 32 bits? I consider this question because: - I might install Exchange 2007 - I might upgrade to Windows 2008 Out of this, is there known problem/issue with 64 bits Windows 2003 OS?
