Some Ajax Function Not Working

I got PHP working. But some of the Ajax functions it not working.

For example:
in wordpress admin, i can only use HTML mode to start a new post. I cant switch to VISUAL mode. And it was working before though.

What option do i need to compile PHP with to make it work?

Right now i have:

Quote:

'./configure' '--prefix=/opt/lsws/lsphp4' '--with-litespeed' '--with-mysql' '--with-gd' '--enable-shmop' '--enable-track-vars' '--enable-sockets' '--enable-sysvsem' '--enable-sysvshm' '--enable-magic-quotes' '--enable-mbstring' '--without-pear' '--with-bz2' '--with-curl' '--with-exec-dir=/usr/bin' '--with-freetype-dir=/usr' '--with-png-dir=/usr' '--enable-gd-native-ttf' '--without-gdbm' '--with-gettext' '--with-gmp' '--with-iconv' '--with-jpeg-dir=/usr' '--with-openssl' '--with-png' '--with-pspell' '--with-expat-dir=/usr' '--with-pcre-regex=/usr' '--with-zlib'

PHP Mail() Function Not Working With Lighttpd
I recently started using lighttpd + with PHP using Fast-CGI on a server hosting 14 blogs powered by WordPress, the server works great and this change reduced server load in about 50% which is nice for us, considering some of our blogs have a very high visitor traffic.

Our only problem so far is that since we switched to lighttpd the PHP's mail() function is just not working. I have compiled and re-compiled PHP and Lighttpd without any effects. I have a test site still working with Apache and PHP scripts can send mail without problems.

I've searched forums and Google for some kind of answer but none whatsoever maybe someone can give me pointers on how to solve this. Thanks a lot!!

Server details:

Lighttpd version: 1.4.15
PHP version: 4.4.4
Kernel: 2.6.9-42.0.3.ELsmp
Server has cPanel/WHM installed

PHP configure options:

--prefix=/usr/local --with-xml --enable-bcmath --enable-calendar --with-curl --enable-exif --enable-ftp --with-gd --with-jpeg-dir=/usr/local --with-png-dir=/usr --with-xpm-dir=/usr/X11R6 --with-gettext --with-imap=/usr/local/imap-2004g --enable-mbstring --enable-mbstr-enc-trans --enable-mbregex --with-mcrypt --enable-magic-quotes --with-mysqli --with-mysql=/usr --with-openssl --enable-discard-path --with-pear --enable-sockets --enable-track-vars --with-ttf --with-freetype-dir=/usr --enable-gd-native-ttf --with-xmlrpc --with-zlib --with-kerberos --with-imap-ssl --enable-fastcgi --enable-force-redirect

AJAX On A VPS
I've developed an AJAX app which is essentially a souped up chatroom. The client basically polls the server every 10 seconds, and XML containing any new information for the client is returned from the server by a php script. A separate script is called when a message is posted and stuck in a MySQL database.

It's a bit more complex than that because it also fetches RSS feeds but that's the essential core.

The bandwidth is extremely low, especially as all the graphics and javascript files are served from a separate server.

At the moment I'm running on a VPS in the US for $40/month with 512MB RAM. I'm not sure there's much more I can do to optimise the code and the queries, but the whole thing chokes when there are more than 200 online. A typical response time to a client in the UK (where most users are based) is 300ms but that grows exponentially after about 180 come online.

Being a developer who knows very little about hosting, my questions are:

* Should it be grinding to a halt with that load?
* Is any shared hosting or VPS likely to cope or am I looking at a dedicated server?
* How much RAM am I going to need to handle all the script and database threads?
* As it's only used intensively once or twice a week, would a cloud be viable or would response times be just too low?
* Can I do this for under £60/month?

I'm ideally looking for a managed solution including backups, so I can just get on and write the thing on a stable platform which doesn't need mail, secure space, redirection or anything other than the ability to serve html and xml using php and mysql.

Net 2.0, MSsql AJAX 12domains
I saw the suggestions to search around the site for good hosts, but it's really challenging to sort out the advertising vs real life experience and personal reviews.

Can anyone give some suggestions for a shared hosting service that can handle my needs for:
.Net 2.0
MSsql allowing remote databse connect
AJAX
about 12 domains
ability to allow several domains to work off the same database
prefer telephone tech support so I can call when things go down.
Tried Godaddy, but they don't allow remote connection to a database (good luck managing large projects)

Tried EasyCGI but not flexible enough

Tried Seekdotnet but even low traffic sites go down, they jumble which domains are connected to your ftp access (one time I had access to another clients html data), and take weeks or up to 'never' to fix hosting errors (fairly sure the errors were not due to the application.)

Heard about IXwebhosting but people don't seem to fond of them hear.

I'd really appreciate some honest input on reliable, reasonable, well supported windows hosting.

How Much Can Php's Mail Function Really Handle
I have mixed feelings on the mail() function in php. I've seen it send out amazing numbers of emails and yet I keep reading that it is prone to problems. I'm wondering if someone can put an approximation on what you could/would send out in say 60 seconds. I know that there are tonnes of variables, so i'll try and remove a few:

- server hardware is typical of a cpanel/WHM shared hosting environment
- running apache/linux
- email is say 20kb HTML format
- mail is sent in a php script loop, one by one; alternatively, mail() could be called in clusters of x emails - like send 5 emails at once
- there are 400 recipients

Configure Webserver So That The Php Scripts To Be Able To Use The Mail() Function

I have set the MX so that my email addresses are handled by google for domains so i can send and receive mails without problems.

What i cant do, is for example to install a cms and make it send emails for the new registered users, etc.

I have installed postfix via yum, and i've tried to configure it.. but i kind of give up after a few hours of trying.

Someone could point me to the right direction on how to configure postfix for just this ? to be able to send mails via php.

I don't care if it's postfix, qmail, etc.

Transfering My Clients To A New Host But Maintaining Website Function And Integrity
I have 35 clients hosting on my dedicated server.

I am going to be ending my service as a host provider, and I need to transfer all of my clients to a new host.

Many of my clients sites were written 3-4 years ago in php while global vars was still off, and so many of the sites might not function correctly if I just pop them to a new host.

My first solution would be to bypass the php .ini file with a public_html/ based ini that would override any newer server settings.

Does anyone know of a good host that could take my clients? And also support the php version locally to the shared account?

I need a host that is reliable, and honest.

Am I going about this the right way?

I am open to any suggestions or advice on this.

I should probably add, all of my clients pay on an annual basis from $89-$140. None of my clients run video sites or any heavy media stuff.

Howto Convert Ini_set Function In Code To Php.ini Setting
I have a website that was running fine for a month or two until my host recently changed some settings on the server, and now it shows a bunch of errors. I contacted the host and they said >

"To avoid the errors, please do not use disabled function. If you need such functionality, you can have your own php.ini on your root http folder containing only necessary option"

Since I'm not a programer, I have no idea what they're talking about. So, I asked them how to do that, they're reply of course was>

"Please consult with the script writer on how to convert ini_set function in your code to php.ini seting. As the script is not encrypted, you can do it with commenting all ini_set calls and write a substitute on php.ini (Create php.ini file in webroot folder)."

I tried to contact the developer, but it appears he has gone MIA! So, now I am left with no clue how to fix the website, so I turn to you guys!

The website is [url]. You can see the errors in the header, but I'll post them here as well>>

"Warning: ini_set() has been disabled for security reasons in /home/buymydom/public_html/includes/global.php on line 3

Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: Cannot send session cookie - headers already sent by (output started at /home/buymydom/public_html/includes/global.php:3) in /home/buymydom/public_html/includes/global.php on line 32

Indyahozting Working Or Not

Now his mobile is not reachable and if I am sending any mails to support@indyahozting.com, there is absolutely no response. The company sent a mail stating on 15th May, 2008, stating there is a change in the management. The mail states that
"Also, Mr. Ravi Iyer, who has been managing the company all these days in all aspects, has moved ahead to look after the other businesses of the company, and will regretfully be attending to indyahozting and its clients no longer.

All support queries may be placed on our website thru the ticketing system, or by email to support@indyahozting.com, and billing and sales queries may be placed at billig@indyahozting.com and sales@indyahozting.com respectively.".

I tried for renewal of a domain, it is also not done. Sent lot of mails to support@indyahozting.com. I tried to contact Ravi, only one time I contacted him, stating that he is looking for other activities. Unfortunately, a growing company missed a techie and I think the company is going to close. ; By default, PHP installs itself with a configuration suitable for
; development purposes, and *NOT* for production purposes.
; For several security-oriented considerations that should be taken
; before going online with your site, please consult php.ini-recommended
; and http://php.net/manual/en/security.php.

;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
; About this file ;
;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
; This file controls many aspects of PHP's behavior. In order for PHP to
; read it, it must be named 'php.ini'. PHP looks for it in the current
; working directory, in the path designated by the environment variable
; PHPRC, and in the path that was defined in compile time (in that order).
; Under Windows, the compile-time path is the Windows directory. The
; path in which the php.ini file is looked for can be overridden using
; the -c argument in command line mode.
;
; The syntax of the file is extremely simple. Whitespace and Lines
; beginning with a semicolon are silently ignored (as you probably guessed).
; Section headers (e.g. [Foo]) are also silently ignored, even though
; they might mean something in the future.
;
; Directives are specified using the following syntax:
; directive = value
; Directive names are *case sensitive* - foo=bar is different from FOO=bar.
;
; The value can be a string, a number, a PHP constant (e.g. E_ALL or M_PI), one
; of the INI constants (On, Off, True, False, Yes, No and None) or an expression
; (e.g. E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE), or a quoted string ("foo").
;
; Expressions in the INI file are limited to bitwise operators and parentheses:
; | bitwise OR
; & bitwise AND
; ~ bitwise NOT
; ! boolean NOT
;
; Boolean flags can be turned on using the values 1, On, True or Yes.
; They can be turned off using the values 0, Off, False or No.
;
; An empty string can be denoted by simply not writing anything after the equal
; sign, or by using the None keyword:
;
; foo = ; sets foo to an empty string
; foo = none ; sets foo to an empty string
; foo = "none" ; sets foo to the string 'none'
;
; If you use constants in your value, and these constants belong to a
; dynamically loaded extension (either a PHP extension or a Zend extension),
; you may only use these constants *after* the line that loads the extension.
;
; All the values in the php.ini-dist file correspond to the builtin
; defaults (that is, if no php.ini is used, or if you delete these lines,
; the builtin defaults will be identical).

; Allow the <? tag. Otherwise, only <?php and <script> tags are recognized.
; NOTE: Using short tags should be avoided when developing applications or

; servers which are not under your control, because short tags may not
; be supported on the target server. For portable, redistributable code,
; be sure not to use short tags.

; Output buffering allows you to send header lines (including cookies) even
; after you send body content, at the price of slowing PHP's output layer a
; bit. You can enable output buffering during runtime by calling the output
; buffering functions. You can also enable output buffering for all files by
; setting this directive to On. If you wish to limit the size of the buffer
; to a certain size - you can use a maximum number of bytes instead of 'On', as
; a value for this directive (e.g., output_buffering=4096).
output_buffering = Off

; You can redirect all of the output of your scripts to a function. For
; example, if you set output_handler to "mb_output_handler", character
; encoding will be transparently converted to the specified encoding.
; Setting any output handler automatically turns on output buffering.
; Note: People who wrote portable scripts should not depend on this ini
; directive. Instead, explicitly set the output handler using ob_start().
; Using this ini directive may cause problems unless you know what script
; is doing.
; Note: You cannot use both "mb_output_handler" with "ob_iconv_handler"
; and you cannot use both "ob_gzhandler" and "zlib.output_compression".
;output_handler =

; Transparent output compression using the zlib library
; Valid values for this option are 'off', 'on', or a specific buffer size
; to be used for compression (default is 4KB)
; Note: Resulting chunk size may vary due to nature of compression. PHP
; outputs chunks that are few hundreds bytes each as a result of
; compression. If you prefer a larger chunk size for better
; performance, enable output_buffering in addition.
; Note: You need to use zlib.output_handler instead of the standard
; output_handler, or otherwise the output will be corrupted.
zlib.output_compression = Off

; You cannot specify additional output handlers if zlib.output_compression
; is activated here. This setting does the same as output_handler but in
; a different order.
;zlib.output_handler =

; Implicit flush tells PHP to tell the output layer to flush itself
; automatically after every output block. This is equivalent to calling the
; PHP function flush() after each and every call to print() or echo() and each
; and every HTML block. Turning this option on has serious performance
; implications and is generally recommended for debugging purposes only.
implicit_flush = Off

; The unserialize callback function will be called (with the undefined class'

Helping someone with their website and it seems they use this company as a web hosting provider. They wish to move and asked me about retrieving their content.

Is there a pretty easy way to do this? It seems they might not provide FTP access but they are somewhat of a CMS but not a somewhat easy access to get the information

Why Is My IIS NOT Working
I'm a MS Access 2000 guru, and I'm trying to build a web page in Access. As per the instructionsin your article on [url], I've installed the IIS through the Add Windows Component section of the Add/Remove Programs application in the Control Panel. But after building the ASP file, as directed, and putting it in the C:Inetpubwwwroot folder, the browser gave me the standard "Page Not Found" display.

Apache Not Working
I am currently using cPanel 11.0 E360 build.
Apache 1.6.9

This morning, I used the "Modify Apache Memory Usage" , as suggested by csf/lfd.

However once it is installed, my Apache can not be started/restarted.

Is there a way to uninstall the Apache MemLimit script?
