UK Users Unable To Connect To One Of My Websites
I've been getting a lot of complaints today on my forum that users cannot view their websites which are subdomains on a seperate domain that I own. It makes no sense why they would have access to the forums which is on the same dedicated server, using the same IP, and with the same nameservers as the site they cannot access. This issue started last night out of nowhere.
Where should I even start looking? It appears to only be with overseas users since none of the US and Canadian users have any issues with either domains or their subdomains.

I just switched to a new server last month and Im having a problem where a lot of my members and even some of my mods are unable to connect to my website. Unable To Connect With Wireless Router
I have not been able to connect to my server via browser, ftp or email since my server had a OS reload & security package installed. If I disconnect and remove my wireless router I can access the server directly from the modem. When the Linksys WRT54G is connected I can go anywhere on the net with no problems, except my server. Is there something they might have done at the server to block wireless router access? I get a timed out message when I ping any of the IP's on the server with the wireless router connected. Linksys has been of no help and I have talked with Clearwire who owns my modem.

Yesterday I had to install a renewed SSL Certificate. Managed to get it installed, in Plesk under domains/www_mydomain_com, but I also deleted the default SSL from the server/certificates area... So then I was getting an dns 500 error when browsingour site and I could not start httpd from within plesk. Went in through SSH and tried to start it from there and got and error stating it could not find the SSLCA cert it was looking for. So I edited my httpd.include file to point to my new certificate. Unable To Connect Via SSH With Centos5 X64
I have been struggling with a couple of new servers that we want to run Centos 5 on. For a second assume that is our desire so going back to 4.x isn't an option yet. Now while I mention Centos 5, the problem seems to be with PAM and x64. When trying to login to the server via ssh, the login succeds but then immediately kicks the user out. I have tried this with root and another user created. I have set the UsePam option to no to try to resolve this in sshd_config. When i go to my website or any page under the domain it's just white. Blank nothing, nada. "Failed to receive status information from Apache. Unable to connect to local httpd server." This error message appears when i click on "apache status". Is this because of the network issue? Or is it because of something I did myself? Users Cannot Connect To MySQL Via Phpmyadmin
It seems I am having issues with WHM/CPanel. I cannot connect to mysql via phpmyadmin through WHM as a root and get this error #2002 - The server is not responding (or the local MySQL server's socket is not correctly configured) All users get the same error when they try to access mysql from cpanel. The access seems to be only for valid for 192.168.1.% Would allowing access to localhost will help and how can I do that for all users?

I have a few users that have a hosting account with me and are trying to connect to their own MySQL servers elsewhere. Both said that they are able to connect to the MySQL server with other hosting accounts but not the ones hosted with me. I asked if they had setup permissions to allow remote connections from my server and they confirmed that they did. What am I missing? Do I need to configure my firewall somehow? I figured the connection is just using port 80 since it's from an PHP script right?

I have tried everything I know (I know not much) I have rebooted it multiple times. I have terminated lots of account and now I have only 2 or three accounts. I have removed all the fishy scripts. Done everything I can. But it just becomes un responsive within a minute of re booting. Its a Pentium 4 Single Core server. 1GB Ram and 160GB harddisk with cpane+WHM. I get error cpsrvd failed @ Thu Dec 11 19:50:43 2008. A restart was attempted automagically. Exim: Unable To Send Mail W/ New Users
I installed exim and have been able to successfully use it as an smtp server. My test setup was as follows: email client uses smtp.MYSERVER.com, my login, and password The email is successfully forwarded to the appropriate recipient. However, when I create a new user, and test it's email capabilities, it does not work. Unable To Set Background For Terminal Service Users
I am unable to set the background for the users on a terminal server. The server is running Windows server 2003 R2 64 bit Enterprise edition. I have setup the background path correctly in the group policy for the ou where the users are located. However the background does not load. I have also enabled Active Desktop in the terminal services configuration manager. Also when I try to set the background manually as the administrator, everything is grey and I am unable to set the background. I have tried to start the Themes service but this does not resvolve the problem. Do anybody here have a suggestion on why I am unable to set the background even on the administrator user manually? (the administrator user does not have any group policies activated).

Preventing Users From Connecting To Other Users Database
On my server, users can connect to any database as long as they have the database user and password. This makes it easier to hack any database on the server. What I want to do is to make the users can only connect to their own databases and not other's. I tried changing the localhost ip address but it didn't work ( I assume I didn't do it the right way)

How Can I Host My Own Websites
I have three domains that I want to host myself on my own computer. Two are temporary sites that I only put up on Memorial Day weekend for the Detroit Electronic Music Festival or Movement 09 to direct people to my after parties and the other site is a two page bio site for myself. I have a very tight budget this year and I can't afford to pay for web hosting all year round when these are only temporary sites even though I own the domain names all year round. I do know some of the promoters for the festival do the hosting themselves.

This is a little wierd, I am not able to see any of my websites on my home network, but from anywhere else it seems too load just fine. Even when i go through a proxy site they load. Cannot Access Websites
I think I broke my server. I was trying to install Zend Optimizer, but it didn't work. After doing some research, I found out that I needed to disable selinux. After doing so, I rebooted. Then I installed Zend Optimizer and rebooted again. Since then, all my websites have been inaccessible. I can access my server through Plesk control panel, but connection to my websites just timeout. What can I do to fix this? Edit : I can access my sites via FTP as well. How Many Domains/websites On A VPS
I have a pretty 'beefy' VPS (Future Host 'Titanium' plan, 1Gb RAM, equal share, 750 Mb bandwidth, 50Gb disk). I'm using it mostly to host relatively small, low-traffic Wordpress sites. Right now, there are about 40 domains & blogs set up. The majority see only a few dozen visitors per day. A few have traffic around 100 visitors, and 1 or 2 may get up to 500 per day. My question is, what might be a comfortable limit on domains/blogs I can host before I should start thinking about adding a 2nd VPS?

Backup Solution For Websites
I am about to order a VPS for some backup solutions for my websites, to save my backups etc. Now, how should I do it ? Let's say one of my main sites are down (server is having a maintenance or the server went down for some unknown reasons, apache crashed, w/e), how should I do it ? I've tried figuring out where it came from, but after scanning some logs I didn't find the source.... Login Security For Websites
how to best secure logins and password storage, I'm trying to come up with a set of tools to make this easier, but first I'd like to hear opinions if my ideas are feasible, and most importantly secure. Most scripts (including very popular ones like phpBB) send the password & username over http and then perform an MD5 hash on the sent password on the server and compares it to the hash stored in the database. I'm thinking this is really quite insecure for more then a few reasons. 1) The password could easily be sniffed since it's sent in plain-text 2) MD5 is a pretty weak hashing algorithms with plenty of exposed vulnerabilities 3) If a hacker was to get their hands on the database, they could just brute force (birthday, rainbow tables, etc) the passwords and get the passwords to a large group of users in a fairly limited time since people are horrible with their passwords I'm thinking a secure alternative could be something like... 1) Combine the password and username client side (via js) and send the username over plain text, but instead of the password send a hash (preferably with a strong algorithm like SHA256) to the server. -- This would increase the work of a hacker that managed to sniff out the connection right? This shouldn't be a major drain on bandwidth (SHA256 JS Code < 3.5 Kbs) and the length of the hash shouldn't cause any major additional load, right? -- Obviously HTTPS would be a much better solution, but that's quite a bit harder to implement. 2) The server should then perform plenty of operations on the hash sent by the password, the most important of which would be salting the hash and rehashing the result. -- This would make it nearly impossible to use rainbow tables, and a hacker would have to separately brute force each users password? Okay, the set of tools for developers I've mentioned early in this post is available at [url], I'd like some opinions on whether this is even a good idea, and if I'm doing anything (or nothing ) right. I'm going to be making additions to common applications to help increase the level of security in the passwords department.

i have a reseller account with canaca.com the safe mode &security mode are on! and everythings was great! till those hackers bastards appeared! they somehow could upload a php shell files to my websites! and then they deleted everythings in 4 of my websites! i contact my tech support and they restored my websites and i checked that there is no shell files! next day,my websites hacked again and there was i php shell files in them! i deleted those god damn files and i deleted the page that the hackers put in my websites! you security is zero,and we will hacked the entire server.., but after 3 hours the pages returned and the shell files are there! i dont belive that! the unbelivable this is that when i want to run those php shell files the safe mode stoped them doing anythings! so how can those bastards do what they do?how can they ulpload the files in the first place? is there any soultions to this problem! cause i restored my websites about 3 times now and everyting i restore it they hacked it again and again!

Cant Connect To IIS
is to use windows authentication, to connect to the site, and connect to MS SQL with the same user. I read on the net (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms998358.aspx), and it said I should go to my default sites properties, to to the "directory security" tab, and make sure "Integrated Windows authentication" is the only box that is checked. I did that and now I cant connect to my site... When I try to connect, it bring up a windows user name and password box. I put a user name and password in, but nothing... I'm getting a cabinet colocation with a provider and on the sales order there is a setup and re-occurring fee for "cross connect". My rep explained it's for the connection from my cabinet to their switch. Is this a typical charge for colocation? When I try to connect to CPanel or any of my sites I get an error that says that the server is taking to long to respond. If I go through a proxy I see the sites so I know CPanel is not down. The DC (The Planet) is reporting that the issue is likely with the user and my tech is also saying the same thing. Could Not Connect To Database
I recently tried installing phpbb forum via fantastico and everytime I try I get the error "phpbb critical error" "could not connect to database" I also get an error connecting to database when I try installing SMF. I checked the configuration/information and the password and username is all correct.

Connect Two Servers
I'm trying to cross connect two linux servers' secondary NICs with a cross over cable. after I pluged in the both ends, I tried to set internal ips for eth1 with netconfig, 192.168.3.1 and the other one is 192.168.3.2, i don't know what to put on netmask and gateway so I left it with netconfig's default, after that I tried ifup ifcfg-eth1 but the server lost connection. The tech at the datacenter checked and said I delete their network gateway from the list of routes. what should I do? remove the gateway line in ifcfg-eth1?

Websites Infected With Trojan How To Solve?
i see my websites are infected with some trojan. there are some iframe tag simlilar to this in all index files <iframe src="http://traff<<removed>>.cn/in.cgi?27" width=100 height=80></iframe> any idea how might this iframe inserted in my codes. i have tried to format my systems and remove all saved ftp passwords , but still this virus is comming back and the strange thing is i have website on different servers infected with same virus any idea how this is happened and how to avoide this?
