Apache :: 2.4.4 - HTTPS Very Slow Or Not Responding
Jan 17, 2014I have a problem with slow Apache 2.4.4. It's only related with https which is in general 5 time slower than the same site via http. I see this difference on the monitoring software which is measuring response time to http and https every 5 seconds. In some cases i got even timeouts in the browser on https while in the same time site is opening over http - slowly but opens always.
Apache runs on Win2k8 Enterprise, Version 2.4.4 x64 - VC10. Server is connected with quite poor internet connection as it's located in Africa. Despite of connection quality http is working properly all the time.

Services Stop Responding, But Server Responds To Ping
Nov 19, 2007I'm having a very odd problem with one of my Linux (CentOS) cpanel server, all the server's services (http, ssh, mail, dns, etc) stop responding but the server still responds to ping.
I can't find anything wrong at all on the log files either, and the technicians that manually restart the server have told me that there is no indication of a problem on the screen.
I suspected a hardware issue and had the data center techs run a hardware test on the server but everything cleared ok.
This issue started a couple of weeks ago, no major upgrade or install took place when it started happening. From what i can see the halts are completely random, some times it goes for days without it happening and some times it happens just hours after the reboots.
VPS Incredibly Slow, Huge Numbers Of Slow MySQL Queries For Plesk/Watchdog
Nov 11, 2008I've got 25 domains on a Virtuozzo/Plesk8.6/CentOS5 VPS. Each domain has one up-to-date install of WordPress, most have very little traffic (average 200mb per month), maybe 2 domains get 5-7gb traffic per month.
I monitor port 80 connections and rarely see more than 10 at a time.
That should in my opinion be no problem at all for a VPS with 768mb guaranteed ram and 2.4ghz cpu. I've got 30gb hard drive spare too.
But.... about 8 or 10 times a day it grinds to a complete halt: server load at 500-1000%, sites timing out, plesk takes 3mins to load, often I can't even connect with SSH, and the plesk web server, apache

80 seconds sounds like a huge amount of time for a MySQL insert to me! Does anyone know if this is likely to be the cause of my trouble? Some problem with Plesk and the database? Or could it be something else?
VPS Not Responding To PINGs
May 14, 2009i'm unable to the response times of my server. The server resolves the correct ip to the ping domain but gets a request timed out.
I'm using a firewall but i don't know whether is that the case. If so what should i do to correct this issue.

EXIM Not Responding

mainlog or rejectlog says nothing about that...
mainlog just says everything is ok after I restart it:
exim 4.64 daemon started: pid=1664, -q30m, listening for SMTP on port 25 (IPv6 and IPv4)
I find it strange too that sockstat and netstat doesn't show anything about the smtp server (this is running FreeBSD):

Apache Stops Responding
Mar 24, 2009I have a very strange problem. Yesterday morning I got a "server down" alert. Restarted httpd and everything run ok ... until today morning, the same problem again.
Symptoms:
1. The webserver did not stop working, it just took too much time to respond.
2. I cannot find anything suspicious in the logs.
3. I started to log the number of apache processes in 4 minutes interval, it did not increase during the failure but remained at a very reasonable number.
4. Now, almost 3 hrs from the last failure, there are 36 apache processes, each eating 14M RAM, server has 4GB ram total, no swapping, almost 3GB are free (cached).
The question is.
How should I prepare for the expected tommorow failure, to be able finaly localise the problem?
Website Stops Responding
Apr 21, 2009I have 3 servers ServerA(Web, mail), ServerB(MySQL+Master replication), ServerC(Mysqlslave+web)
It happens that my website stops responding for few mins and then it comes back again automatically. I checked the server logs but I couldn't find any suspicious.
Also, while the website is not accessible when I try to connect internally from ServerC to ServerA or ServerB using SSH. It takes lots of time (approx more than 60 seconds) to connect. When website starts working SSH is also working fine.
This is very complicated for me. Can anyone let me know what should be the problem or how can I find root cause of this problem?
GixxerPC Not Responding To Tickets
Feb 8, 2009it has been over 36 hours since I submit a ticket to GixxerPC because I can't login to my client account and I want to cancel my VPS.
I guess they have decided to close their doors to me once I asked for a cancellation because a friend of mine is letting me use his VPS.
I am hoping that this topic will catch the eyes of some GixxerPC staff so they will answer my ticket.

Apache :: 2.4.10 Not Responding On Windows?
Dec 2, 2014recently I have update our Apache 2.2 instance to 2.4.10, and started using Apache in Windows 2008 R2 64 bit (before we were using it in Win 2003). Our Apache is used mainly as reverse proxy to 3 apps. Well, it seems that, even if I have scheduled a nightly reboot of its service, every day it hangs, becoming unresponsive and forcing us to restart it to make it work again.

I've used theplanet for years, but haven't used their support much. But after getting a new server, I discovered the configuration wasn't as promised (it was missing 5 IPs).
I left a ticket last Friday afternoon (12/4), but no response so I called support on the weekend. Although he promised they'd expedite it, the only result was a slightly sarcastic post to my ticket implying my expecting an acknowledgement within 24 hours was unreasonable.
I called on Monday, and the salesperson promised a manager would respond by Tue. Nothing by Wed, so I called again, and was promised that someone would contact me shortly but still nothing.
So now it's just a day short of a week after filing my ticket, and nothing but a runaround. Has their service gone downhill that much recently, or is it just me?
2161DS's Serial Port Not Responding
May 21, 2007I got my hands on a used 2161DS (unit only, no cables etc), but somehow it doesnt seem to respond on the hyperterminal to any keyboard input.
As its used it doesnt have any support directly from Dell and Dell is unable even to give us a cost estimate as the service tag number is not in their system. Anyway...
When I power up the 2161DS KVM-Over-IP switch all I get in the Hyperterminal is

From there on its not working. The keyboard and mouse directly connected to it are working. Also all the menus, but we can set the network address, do firmware updates etc, only from the serial port connection (once the serial port is working).
I checked the hyperterminal settings (9600 baud, 8 bit, 1 stop bit, no parity, no flow control).
Is there anything that I might be missing?
Perhaps I have to use something like a crossed serial cable instead of a straight one ?
Character set issues?
Terminal type issues?
We have spent days in front of the machine and on the phone with Dell without really getting anywhere. Its our first 2161DS so I still want to believe that we must be missing something.

Plesk 11.x / Linux :: Qmail Not Working - SMTP Isn't Responding
May 26, 2014Just got a strange problem on my plesk server. (11.0.9)
Qmail isn't working...
In Home>Tools & Settings>Services management SMTP "Server (QMail)" is stoppped.
When I try to start it, it say "Information: Please allow for some time for the service to start." but never starts...
In command line i try to restart it with "service qmail restart" and it says "OK" also if i run "service qmail status" it says "qmail-send (pid 2880) is running..."
but, it really doesn't work... queue is getting bigger and smtp isnt responding...!
Server Slow To Load
May 14, 2009I dont know much about what could be cuasing this so i come to you for advice, i am currently at wired tree on their VPS384 package with 348MB of ram and my site is really slow to load [url]sometimes it is so embaressing to show people i just dont bother, i am sure this is deferring visitors from my content how can i speed this up?
I can add more ram but it will push the price and if the price goes too high i might aswell move to a Hybrid with wiredtree.

First I thought that it is network related, but most strange for me was that I did not have any packets lose.
Then I tried to ping from my server to other hosts - situation was the same - some ping were good and some were huge (700ms, 800ms, even 2000ms)
I checked:
cat /proc/sys/net/ipv4/netfilter/ip_conntrack_max
and it was 65536
Then I checked:
cat /proc/sys/net/ipv4/netfilter/ip_conntrack_count
and it was ~1600 so normal.
dmesg was showing such errors:

Strange for me was:
RX packets [...] dropped:2421127049
TX packets [...] dropped:46
I did not have such dropped information on all my other servers. Dropped counter for RX was constatnly increasing.
So I decided to restart all services on the server. After restarting network and ipaliases - problem disappeared. RX dropped counter is still rising, but I do not have any slowdowns on the server and pings are normal.
My question is - does anyone could have any idea what can casue my problem and how can I prevent this in the future?
Server Running Very Slow

i hosted 1 wesite ( forum script with no plugins )
when my traffic consuption reache to 25mbs the server running very slow for hours although the load avarage is very normal 1-2 Iowait 3% ram consumption 8-10Gb
my uplink port 1Gb and of course my DC said the connection is normal with no limitation
the server specs are good
Quad procs 7200 ,16Gb ram ,15K SCSI speed
connections reache to 2000-2500 per seconds
Dedicated Server A Bit Slow

Apr 24, 2008My server gets 300 - 600 concurrent connections to http port 80, has a CPU load of 1 - 2%, has practically all RAM of 1 GB used, is running apache 2 and centos 5.
It tends to get slow and when I ban IPs that use many connections to my server (raping it), it becomes fast again. But soon after that new ******* users come which I again ban and the process repeats itself
I'm starting to think that maybe I just don't have enough RAM to handle them because it seems at least some of those users are legit. I don't however have even that much content that needs to be cached so I'm not sure what good RAM would do but perhaps apache just needs more.
