I have Plesk 8 installed I would like to create Scheduled Task as root to reboot the server in every 8 hours.

VPS isn't rebooting by itself when it goes down. Anyone has any program/script that monitors heartbeat of the server? Like when it goes down, the program will automatically reboots the system. I know there's such a script out there but I forgot what it called.

I had to reboot my server and about 20 minutes later I tried to access the web site but the page was not found... I am able to login to SSH. However, I am not familiar with *nix or the workings of CPanel... What should I do to get the sites back online?

Leaseweb Server Reboot
I ordered a leaseweb express server 4 box with windows server 2003 and have been running it, installed some software etc which worked out fine. Anyways, I wanted to disable tcp/ip filtering which I did and afterwards it prompted me that I would have to reboot the server for the changes to take place, I clicked ok and it rebooted. Now I just can't connect with remote desktop, I tried everything. I'm guessing it either shut down or didn't reboot properly? I tried sending an email to leaseweb support 2 days ago but still no shadow of any reply.. It says that I can reboot the server using the SSC but when I log in there, I can't really find any reboot option.

Server Reboot, No SSH
I'm worried a server is dead, and I haven't made any backups of the database Server went down last night, submitted a reboot request and now the server is not responding to SSH. It does respond to ping, so I'm assuming Linux might have booted up OK Has anyone experience with this type of issue?

Bind Fail/server Reboot
my datacenter says that they have not had power failures(lol yeh right) but i cant seem to figure out why my server seems to be rebooting randomly. so far its happened early 3-5am my times today and yesterday, just its happened 4x more times this morning. im not sure if cpanel is sending me bind start failures because its not set to auto start up on reboot or if it might be related... but the server seems fine.

i have a dedicated server at theplanet.I dont have a remote reboot option. a friend of mine said,that all dedicated servers have remote reboot options.he says that since i dont have a remote reboot option,i am probably on a shared server.is that correct.does theplanet have shared or vps offerings in the first place ? i cannot reboot the server,but i can log in through shell as root type in shutdown - and turn the damn thing off.....

Small Business Server Hangs On Reboot
problem I was having which was Windows Small Business Server 2003 would hang on boot up. I never got the time to reinstall the server until now. I have installed the server and applied all updates. This worked fine until I install the Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 or 2. When I install SP1 or SP2 on reboot the server loads the Dell splash screen then the monitor LED light goes orange then green then orange and then just hangs with a blank screen. I can boot into Safe Mode and uninstall the Service Pack and I can then reboot without any problems. I have installed ADAM SP1.

Tracing Cause Of Server Load Spike *after* Reboot
I have a cpanel, centos server that had to be rebooted due to the high load spike. I was unable to ssh in nor enter whm prior to the reboot so my only option was of course to reboot the server. Now, I'm trying to trace the cause of the spike. RTG graphs show no indication of a ddos attack. Inside whm, CPU/Memory/MySQL Usage shows no reds nor yellow warnings either except red for gzip (backup process) at 19% CPU. I doubt this is the cause. Using A Switched PDU To Reboot A Dual-power Server
at getting PDUs for the new facility where we plan to move our servers to. Our cabinet will have 2*20a circuits, so we're thinking of getting 2 APC PDUs (1 per circuit). Some offer remote reboot capability. Our servers (Dell PowerEdge) have dual power supplies, and I assume the best thing is to plug one power supply into each circuit, so things stay up even if a circuit fails. So, how would this work if we want to reboot? The servers can run on only one power supply, so does that mean we have to click reboot on the web interface of each PDU at exactly the same time? I've never worked with PDUs before.. just cheap power strips and a call to the datacenter

Cannot Access Windows 2003 Server From Network After Reboot
We are facing this weird problem from the past few days. Whenever we reboot the Windows 2003 Service, the server becomes inaccessible from the network or the internet after reboot. It is only after we run the sharedaccess.reg file available from http://windowsxp.mvps.org/reg/sharedaccess.reg and reboot the server, we can access the server remotely. But the same thing happens after rebooting the server again. We are also not able to start the Windows Firewall service. We get an error while trying to start the Windows Firewall Service. Cron Issues On VPS Server
I have a VPS Setup which is running Cpanel, everything works fine apart from some of my clients Cron Jobs. Each user is trying to get cron to run a script to update a page. if they run the script from a browser then it works fine and the page is updated, however if they let cron run the script, it does not run and they get an error email from the server. Dedicated Server - How To Setup CRON
I'm trying to help out a friend with a dedicated server setup however we both don't know too much about it. We've setup apache, perl, sql all the standard stuff but cannot for the life of us setup a CRON job for a particular script. The dedicated server control panel is: WHM Accelerated. Our current websites have been setup on the server under the same user account (master). There doesn't seem to be the usual "CPANEL" options which you usually get with shared hosting however.

Determine What Cron Jobs Are Killing Server And When
We're running on Linux/Apache/MySQL/RoR and have a number of cron jobs that run throughout the day on our server. We've been noticing lately that at certain times of the day the site becomes really slow. When I'm online with my engineers I can mention this to them and they can check and see and say "Oh yeah, it's job XYZ that's spiking the server load." That's great but much of the time when I notice the sluggishness my developers are offline (we're in different time zones). I'm wondering if there's a fairly easy way to track this when they're not online so we can say "Yup, last night at 10 PM your time when you noticed that it was job ABC." There has to be something that allows you to do this right?

Windows Server- MS SQL + Plesk
We are about to shift from linux server to plesk for some reasons given by our management. I am interested to know that Plesk 8.X or 9.X comes with MS SQL edition in built? or we have to install that separately? This is for a hosting server so the server should have both MY SQL and MS SQL both, how to shift this in plesk, is it possible? Also if we install plesk will it come with tomcat server? or not? some hosting clients need Java with tomcat?

Pointing An A-Record To A PLESK Server
I am currently having a few technical difficulties with configuring my PLESK server to accept an A Record from another domain. Perhaps I have been going about this all wrong but I will explain what I am trying to do and how I have currently been trying to get it to work. Hopefully you might have a suggestion for me to try. We currently run an On-Demand web design platform. This CMS can be completely rebranded for our Partners who can then sell this facility to their clients. There is only one installation of the code base but we need to give our partners a their own web address to access the cms. For example: cms.altstudio.com.au cms.pcgraphicart.com.au cms.pcgraphicart.com.au has been set up as a domain alias. The reason this is working is because the primary domain pcgraphicart.com.au is also hosted on this server. So I thought if the partner has their domain delegated elsewhere then I could simply get them to create an A record for their chosen subdomain and point it to our IP address, then I could configure the domain alias again for their particular A record and hey presto. Unfortunately not so easy. Here are two of the examples of what is happening cms.newlight.com.au - their root domain is delegated elsewhere, but they have created an A-record for that subdomain and pointed it to 202.60.87.185. Now it reaches my server as I see a PLESK error page at that address. At this stage I don't really know what to try to get PLESK to register that entry. I have created a domain alias for cms.newlight.com.au on the cms.altstudio.com.au account but it didn't pick things up. Another example is cms.abconsulting.com.au

Plesk Backup Server (data Should Be Sync)
I have two Plesk servers running on CentOS. I want if one server goes down 2nd will start serve requests to clients. But data should be sync from first server to 2nd server or we can say 2nd will 100% replica of first. Unable To Access Sites On Plesk Server
When trying to access any web sites or webmail on a plesk server i keep getting the following. Forbidden You don't have permission to access / on this server. Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. Nothing as far as i can see has changed on the server. I cant access plesk control panel due to network restrictions but have command line access. what could of caused this blanket ban? Cant see any changes in .htaccess files, but didnt think that plesk would affect these much anyway

i got plesk 8.0, and trying to update with the updater to more recent versions. updating fails. I tried with incremental updates (8.0 > 8.1 > 8.2 etc.), but it never works. Server 2003, Managed, PLESK/Helm, Backups
One of my clients needs a dedicated server. I already know SoftLayer is really good from personal experience, but he needs both a Managed box and a Backup Solution, neither of which SoftLayer offers. I know they offer a 1Gig lockbox, but it's your responsibility to make sure files are transferred daily. Basically what he needs is the following - Server 2003 - As fully managed as possible because I am not on hand 24/7 - A control panel to handle everything. Plesk and Helm work. I'd say Plesk since they now seem to own HELM - A backup solution at the very least once a week, once a day is better - 24/7 Technical support with a phone number to call (not just ticket) in case of emergency. Please let me know any suggests of hosts you use that were good. I have used many hosts in my life but only really liked SoftLayer (lacking the 2 features said) and AxisHost (no live number) so really need some feed back on this.

Ports To Open For Web Server (PLESK, CPanel, Etc.)
Our new data center provided us with a Cisco ASA5510 firewall. We're setting up all new servers and will begin migrating all of our domains from our current co-lo to the new place. At the old co-lo, they provided us a very basic BSD based router, and our servers all had external public facing IPs on them. Firewalling was handled at the server (Windows Firewall or Linux IPtables). The new place is NAT'ing us, so our servers all have a 192.168.10.x address inside, and they map the external address for us through to the inside. By default, they are locking everything down. I had to ask them to open ssh so I could remote into my CentOS box last night. I'm not a network guru-- what ports are going to NEED to be opened so I can give them a list? This is a standard PLESK hosting server so http (80), https, ssh, ftp, pop3, smtp, what else? Anyone have a list?

Plesk: DNS Server (BIND) / SpamAssassin [FAILING]
I've had a VPS for a little over a month now, like with anything I guess hiccups are always apparent. But the VPS does starnge things even when I haven't changed anything... For example I received an email from Watchdog, and noticed that DNS Server (BIND) and SpamAssassin is lways up and down... Thought people might have an idea as to why? Plesk IIS WP User & Compromised Server
My server (using plesk 8.1 on windows 2003 server) has been compromised with some sort of rootkit and I'm investigating vulnerabilities. This server hosts some of my asp.net applications and I have to grant Modify Permission to IIS WP (iwam_plesk) user on Some subfolders (under Httpdocs folder for each domain). Is it a security problem? if yes, how else can I allow asp.net applications to write to, say, an Access db?

Upgrading Php & MySQL On A Plesk Win2K3 Server
I have a Win2003 dedicated server (with The Planet) that i use to host a large IPB forum site. I got it about 3yrs ago and as I was a complete newbie to server management I got Plesk CP installed so that it would take care of all the SQL, PHP and mail installation and setup in one easy go. I've since found Plesk for Windows to be a complete waste of space.. but it's still on there and has never been upgraded. I don't actually use it as a CP. Similarly PHP and mySQL have never been upgraded. Now I've got to the stage where, to upgrade the IPB forum software, I need to upgrade PHP and mySQL.. but looking at the installation, they seem to be embedded in the Plesk installation. They're inside the SWSoft/Plesk/ folders and none of the ini or config files appear to be in the places you'd expect them to be. My question - Would these upgrades be simple?? A case of just running an update package?? Or is the fact that PHP/mySQL are embedded in Plesk mean that it'll all mess up? I'm worried that a failed upgrade will knacker the forum, which is why I've delayed for so long.
