Plesk 12.x / Linux :: Activating Emails (making Them Work) In VPS System View
Aug 19, 2014
I have a Cloud VPS with 1and1 and Plesk is installed on it. I happen to have a VPS view that doesn't include DNS functionality for the domains.
So, i have added domain to the system, create an email address... because i dont see on how i can manage DNS settings I have set up cloudflare and pointed domain to the cloudflare and cloudflare is pointing to server.
so I have email: email@example.com
on cloudflare i have:
A domain @ IP
A www @ IP
CNAME mail @ domain
MX 10 mail.domain
In plesk i have set up an alias, mail.domain for domain, that has access to email.
I go to the network-tools.com to look up firstname.lastname@example.org:
[Contacting mail.domain [IP]...]
We have installed the latest version of Plesk on our server. Our web applications work fine. But we can not send or receive emails. Neither the webmail (login failed) nor pop3 / imap and mail forms on web projects.
Currently Plesk only has the ability to make a full backup of the data. Now, this is quite an issue since I have accounts on my server that are over 280GB. Making a full daily backup of that and allowing clients to have a history of 10 days, isn't viable.
Is there perhaps a way one can make differential backups?
I'm setting up a SAAS service which is built on top of Laravel. To put it simply the service itself knows whether its being called from a sub.example.com or just example.com and serves a correct response accordingly. So going to sub.example.com will use the same index.php file as example.com but the routes and controllers within the application will provide a different response. sub.example.com will show a tenant login page where as example.com will show a new tenant subscription page or something else.
So when someone new subscribes I add a new entry to the database with a subdomain name for them and when a request comes from that subdomain and they are logged in it will show them their information. Easy right.
There is a problem though with setting it up with Plesk. When I add a wildcard subdomain, it will look for /subdomains/sub/ for the files which is a bit problematic since I want it to serve the files from the same place as the domain example.com.
Is there a way to configure that so that regardless of the subdomain it will try and serve the exact same content as my main domain?
We have just had reports of SPAM being sent from our CentOS 6.x server running Plesk 12.
Services like Plesk Premium antivirus, SpamAssasin, watchdog(rkhunter) and mod_security are enabled on the server to enhance security and none of these seemed to stop the scripts.
The issue is that multiple domains are sending out mail from this server, so it is difficult to find the script sending out SPAM. When we were running Plesk 11.0 we had a seperate log-file where we could see the file sending any mail going out from the postfix mailserver. I have check both /var/log/maillog and /usr/local/psa/var/log/maillog, but there is nothing in those files to tell me the file that sent the mail.
How would I go about finding this file from either the Plesk Control Panel or through SSH (using log-files)?
I just installed Plesk 12 Web Admin Edition, installed and activated all licence keys and everything works fine. The only thing, I can't find the "Service Provider View" in the Interface Settings, there is only a "Power-User" view provided, even I've selected the Service Provider View during Plesk Setup, I was moved to the Power User view and now I can't switch the interface.I am really missing the server health monitoring from this Service Provider View like got it on all other servers I have.
I have a virtual dedicated server hosted with "Domains Priced Right" I have several domains hosted on the server with emails for each. I used to be able to view my emails in Outlook however recently I've been getting the error (0x80042108) 'Outlook cannot connect to incoming (POP3) email server'
I've switched to thunderbird and still have the same problem. "Could not connect to the server mail.blahblah.com; the connection was refused."
I have about 10 domains and I can't see the emails for any of them.
I know the emails are there I can see them when I use webmail. I know thunderbird works because it can get email from gmail and my ISP. It just won't connect to the server and download them.
Things worked in the past so I'm perplexed. I'm running Windows Vista and maybe a new update has caused a problem. It may be a firewall issue but I've had a look at that. Also I did do a clean up of some old drivers. I think it might be a dodgey email file.
I set a new Plesk 12 server (Debian 7.8) and migrate some domains from a plesk 11.0.9 server. After this, FTP does not work. I can connect but I receive this error:
Error:The data connection could not be established: ETIMEDOUT - Connection attempt timed out..And no list of folder or files found. Not one domain, any domain.I restart xinetd and fil2ban but still same problem. Via control panel I can see the files but not via FTP.
I got a new Server with Plesk 12.0.8 (old one has 11.5.30). Now I have to migrate all Subscriptions of the old System into the new one.
I tested it with one item and all time I get this warning:
Warning:SSL certificate "default certificate" Execution of /opt/psa/admin/plib/api-cli/certificate.php --create default certificate -cert-file /opt/psa/PMM/tmp/pmm-cert-GzVcei -key-file /opt/psa/PMM/tmp/pmm-privkey-PgXbaU -print-signature -admin -ignore-nonexistent-options failed with return code 1. Stderr is Unable to create certificate "default certificate": Unable to set the private key: Probably, the private key format is invalid.
My /var/www/vhosts/system directory was accidentally deleted. The actual vhost directories are unharmed, e.g. /var/www/vhosts/example.com. Is there a non-destructive script I can run to re-initialize the system directory? I am on Plesk 11.5.30.
Recently I cross compiled Apache2.4.6 to run in my ARM cpu, and I found that http can work well if only it's own port such as 80 is listened, but if add one more port to be listened in conf file, http fails. That means http is good, but after https is on, http stop working and https is good. At the same time, I built the same apache2.4.6 in X86 gcc4.6.1, http and https can both work well. In addition, I also tried apache1.3.33 in the same ARM system, http and https can work well too. It seems like that in apache2.4.6, http can't work well if there is one more port listened in ARM system. Actually http port is listening and is established when using netstat to monitor it.

For a Magento shop I want assign a dedicated IP to a domain. When I choose this second IP in “Subscriptions” --> Change Hosting Settings” and then select this IP under “Tools and Settings --> IP Addresses” as dedicated (or shared too) for this domain, calling the domain results in the Webserver´s default Plesk Page.
The Shopsite is not shown, but was working well with the shared standard IP.
Calling the IP directly with the browser shows the start page of the shop in raw HTML ( no CSS ).
I'm running Ubuntu LTS 14 with Plesk 12 installed and I registered an domain name under subcriber/customer on my Plesk panel and I created a mail which was already registered under that name in the old server from which I removed the domain completely. I have installed Roundcube and Horde from Plesk installer, and at the avalaible webmail services are shown: Atmail,Roundcube and Horde all activated and avalaible. I try to choose one of them for the email but none of them works. When I try to access the webmail from the address: URL....it shows me default Plesk page. From the address: URL.... it says not found. The same for Horde and Atmail.
Its very weird because the same webmails services are working correctly under my main webspace with other domain: URL....I've tried changing something to the default plesk page from the file manager and it works so the domains seems to be connected with the server properly.
I have multiple domains on a single IP address and many require SSL Certificates.
I have enabled SNI in /etc/psa/psa.conf so it now says "SNI_SUPPORT true" as it was originally set to False. Setting this to TRUE then enabled the SSL option in 'Websites & Domains'.
I then purchased and installed the SSL Cert and activated it in the domain settings. On a dedicated IP address, this would work.
When I checked the certificate. it was not using the assigned SSL cert, instead it was using the Servers default certificate (plesk) that is assigned to the shared IP address.
When I check, I get the error message: "[warn] RSA server certificate CommonName (CN) `plesk' does NOT match server name"
I then rebooted the server and it made no difference. I changed the domain to a spare dedicated IP address, and the SSL Cert was certified correctly (it used the correct SSL Cert). When I changed it back to the shared IP address, it reverted back to the shared IP address' SSL cert. So the new SSL Cert was being ignored.
For info: currently running 11.0.9 on Centos 5 and I'm testing this with latest IE, FF, Chrome so it accepts TLS Server Name Indication.
I installed Roundcube in Plesk 12 through the link: URL....But it doesn't work. I adjusted the mailsettings for a domain to use Roundcube. With the fresh created emailaccount and you click on the webmailicon, it loads the following url but the page does not exists: URL....Aren't there any instructions for using RoundCube with Plesk? After adding Roundcube as an component are there more steps involved to get Roundcube up and running with plesk?
I have just used rsync to backup a dedicated server to a new cloud server. I put the files in a plesk webspace 'Backup' folder for ease of use (gui). In File Manager for that webspace it shows the folder user and group as root, which is obviously correct as rsync maintains users etc?
Thats fine, I just wanted to be able to back them up along with the rest of the server configuration and content.
However, when I run backup it says "For security reasons, backing up is performed on behalf of subscription's system user. This system user has no read access to:" and "So it was not backed up. All other data was backed up successfully. To fix this issue you may grant access read/write to the file or directory for system user "(username)" or "apache"."
I don't know how to give read/write access to the system user? Through file manager there is no option to change permissions.
