View 2 RepliesThe minimum requirements that I am seeking for is that it must be a Windows 2000 or Windows XP machine with at least 1024 MB of DDR PC3200 RAM and at least a single-core 2 GHz CPU whether it be AMD or Intel (something suitable for a gameserver and webserver combo), 40GB SATA/RAID Harddrive, and a Full Duplex 100 Mbit port with plenty of bandwidth to run a 32-Player 66tic CSS Server.
The price range that I seek is between $60 to $120 per month.
Is there a registry key that can distinguish between Windows 2000 and Windows 2000 server?
In
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionProductName
That key is Windows 2000 for both Win 2k and Win 2k server so if there's anything else that would be GREAT.
For my business i just got 3 new Dell PowerEdge 1750 Rack Servers with windows 2003 installed on them. With 100Mbit speeds should i be able to host numerous game servers and voip servers?

View 4 Replies View RelatedOur windows 2000 NT server will not allow users to login to the FTP unless they are classified as administrators. I have the domain set up with all of the correct permissions (to my knowledge).
1. Access to FTP folders
2. Access to Read under FTP
If there is some permission not set, please let me know.
The users are added to the Domain controller under Active Directory. I saw a post about the same exact problem on another forum, but there was no answer.
These few days I keep having error logs for form delivery
Message delivery to the remote domain 'xxx.xxx' failed for the following reason: Unable to deliver the message because the destination address was misconfigured as a mail loop.
Perviously everything was fine , wonder anyone know what could have suddenly cause this issue.
I have successfully installed PHP onto my MS Server 2000 platform, and can execute the files without problem.
html files no longer work, but I think this is to be expected? Renaming them .php allows them to work.
However, I am struggling to set a default page - I have gone to 'document' in the IIS settings, and removed all other default pages, and added index.php. This has not worked. I can access xxx.myserver.com/index.php, but it does not show when accessing xxx.myserver.com
I keep getting

I have a windows 2000 server and I would like to configure two domain names, c.com and bnvsaj.c.com and requests to these domains should be forwarded to 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2. How can I configure like this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Windows 2000 Advanced Server where there's a performance issue with some of the .asp pages that retrieve data from Access databases, (I know Access databases aren't ideal for data). These pages will just get stuck/freeze, and then either suddenly spring back to life, or give a script timeout error 0113.
The largest Access database I've seen is 136MB (is that way too large?)
I will probably move some of the large Access databases onto a different server but before I do:
- Are there any tools you can recommend to diagnose exactly what files / databases are causing the problem. I don't think the Win 2000 performance monitor tools even work.
- Can anyone explain more about the technicalities behind this issue. I expect it has something to do with processes, threads, memory, Access drivers being loaded into memory etc etc. Can anyone tell me what they know to put me in the picture better?
I have a Windows 2000 server running Raid 1 software raid. Recently, one hard disk in the mirror crash, I replace another trying to build the mirror. Problem is the existing hard disk has a few bad blocks, even after chkdsk it still failed to rebuild the software raid, error msg was due to bad blocks in the existing hard disk.
View 2 Replies View RelatedJust checking how do I add a Windows Defined service in Windows 2000. I saw some info.
But it seemed to apply to Microsoft Windows 2003 Server as there isn't instsrv or srvany in Windows 2000 server even after I uploaded the Resource Kit Tools. Am I missing something?
Or can someone tell me where to download these for Windows 2000?
I was actually curious about this since Windows 2008 version came out.

Yesterday I migrated a domain with the migration tool from a Debian 7.6 Plesk 12.0.18 MU35 box to a Debian 7.6 Plesk 12.0.18 MU35 box
This domain have a simple DNS configuration. The A registry for the domain.com was an own IP instead the IP of the server. Rest of the DNS configuration was the same.
After migration the A registry for the domain.com was an own IP too (as expected) but also the A registry for mail.domain.com
Before migration, in the old server:
A domain.com x.x.x.x (own ip)
A mail.domain.com y.y.y.y (server ip)
After migration, in the new server:
A domain.com x.x.x.x
A mail.domain.com x.x.x.x
The migration had changed the IP for mail.domain.com for the IP of the A registry for domain.com
Very strange. I double-checked it (as the domain in the "old" server was suspended)
Client donĀ“t have access to the control panel, so no changes done.
With Windows 2003 server, there are comprehensive lists of what you need to do to secure the server before use. For Windows 2008, I wonder is there such a list? Or is it true as what I heard from Microsoft that it is already secured out of the box?
Anyone has any resources on the hardening or preparation of 2008 for server hosting uses?
I am configuring a new Plesk server 12.x based on Linux. I already have a Plesk server in 10.x on Windows and i would like to transfer all the data we have on this one to the new server.
I tried to do a backup of the old server using the web interface but the zip file created was not compatible with the one using Linux.
I'm making a reasonably uninformed comparison here. Since Windows Vista is noted to be more resource intensive and slower than Win XP, are we right in assuming that Windows 2008 is slower than Windows 2003?
For instance, with two boxes with an identical hardware setup but the two different server OSes, will the same application like, say MySQL run slower on the Win 2008 machine?
Is there hosting that use windows xp rather than windows server 2003? What is the advantage of using windows server2003 anyway?
Most of the time I just need to run some programs that need huge bandwidth. If I want to host sites, I'll just use xamp.
I think windows xp license is cheaper.
from Windows 2000 and II5. Painless?
Does IIS7 fully supprot ASP NET 1.1 applications?
We primarily work with unix servers and are new to the windows hosting. We have have a client with a large site moving from a shared account to a vps account on another host.
The shared account is on a server run by a local company and any type of login could probably be gotten for that host. And the other is a VPS so essentially functioning like dedicated.
Is there a way to transfer server to server instead of server to local to server? The equivalent of SSHing files from server to server on Unix?
I have just migrated my server from a Linux CentOS VPS to a dedicated Windows Web Server 2008, everything seems to have gone quite well except xcache.
I have installed xCache v1.2.2 with the following configuration:
Quote:
[xcache-common]
extension = php_xcache.dll
[xcache.admin]
xcache.admin.auth = On
xcache.admin.user = "admin"
xcache.admin.pass = "b95e560e4a31ce20cd522f224932c080"
[xcache]
xcache.shm_scheme = "mmap"
xcache.size = 48M
xcache.count = 2
xcache.slots = 8K
xcache.ttl = 7200
xcache.gc_interval = 300
xcache.var_size = 128M
xcache.var_count = 1
xcache.var_slots = 8K
xcache.var_ttl = 7200
xcache.var_maxttl = 14400
xcache.var_gc_interval = 300
xcache.test = Off
xcache.readonly_protection = Off
xcache.mmap_path = "anonymous"
xcache.coredump_directory = "c:/xCache/tmp"
xcache.cacher = On
xcache.stat = On
xcache.optimizer = On
[xcache.coverager]
xcache.coverager = Off
xcache.coveragedump_directory = ""
If I open phpinfo I can see that xcache is loaded and can see the settings, I have also installed the xcache admin panel and I am able to access that without problem.
However if I enable xcache on in the PHP scripts (vbulletin) file I get multiples of the following errors:
Quote:
Warning: xcache_isset() [function.xcache-isset]: xcache.var_size is either 0 or too small to enable var data caching in [path]includesclass_datastore.php on line 557
Quote:
Warning: xcache_unset() [function.xcache-unset]: xcache.var_size is either 0 or too small to enable var data caching in [path]includesclass_datastore.php on line 596
Quote:
Warning: xcache_set() [function.xcache-set]: xcache.var_size is either 0 or too small to enable var data caching in [path]includesclass_datastore.php on line 597
Now unless I am being thick, var_size is currently set to 128M, it was originally 4M but as the error suggested "too small" I upped it a little with no affect.
The only thing I can think might be related to this is that I am using PHP 5.2.6 and I am using xCache 1.2.2 for PHP 5.2.5 as there is no 5.2.6 version
I had some question about the migration tool : My task is to migrate a domain from a server with plesk 9 version to another server with plesk 12 version.
1. Does the migration includes the ftp accounts contained in the domain ?
2. During the migration can users from the plesk 9 server still connect to the ftp server and continue working on it ?
I just finished to migrate my Plesk 10.5 to 12 and everything is great now.
I just have a little problem with SMTP authorization.
This option, if i'm not doing something wrong, is located on Mail Settings and especially in the section "Relay options". I ticked "authorization is required" and "SMTP".
But when I try to check it on my email client, I can send emails with or without the the SMTP authorization option on the email client.

how to setup a vpn on windows 2003 web edition server?
I have setup ras, and letting me to login to the server using PPTP, but its not allowing me to route the Internet using the connection there.
I m having One NIC card, and as far i know its possible to route public network too.
I was contacted by a small company manager who want to setup an online common work place for his employees.
He needs a Windows server with the possibility for up to 10 users to connect remotly and share files and software.
Do you think that Windows 2003 is compulsory for such basic needs? I want to go with Windows XP because it is less expensive.
on the server I have ASP access sites and ASP with SQL server sites.
When I load the sites they are fast, but then after a random period of time, I click a link but the page just sits there saying waiting for host, I can refresh but no difference, then all of a sudden the site will start working again and be fast until the next time.
Does anyone know why the site can be fast then sort of just hang for a while and if so, any suggestions on fixing this would be brilliant.
