HostChum Servers All Down - Cant Reach Them - All Day Downtime
Apr 15, 2009
I wouldn't trust HostChum.com to host anything. Today I awoke to my server being down. No notice of anything no email no nothing of anything planned. So I goto their site to check the situation and wow their site is a parked page from godaddy so that doesn't get me anywhere. But I did write their phone number down just in case. So after many calls with no answer I left a message and phone number each time. No calls, no emails, no nothing.
Just gone into thin air, all my hard work of building sites and they just rip it out. I had a day of downtime just a week ago when the switched datacenters. Now they just shut everything down with not a word.
This has to be the worst treatment by a company ever, so I wonder if I will ever get to get the files from my server. What jerks save your money and never use this company.
I see several ISP advertising that they can help clients without any downtime? I now have a couple of large clients I am supposed to move to my servers. They are moving from cpanel servers to my cpanel servers, so the moving part is easy enough, but how should I proceed to have no or very little downtime?
I was a customer with Hostchum.com for little then a month the VPS was good and nicly maintained. The service i got was very good and fast. The reason why i left is that the speed in the US was excellent but the speed to europe was not so fast. They even moved me to a new server in the hope the speed would increase it did but not the speed i needed. Its real shame i need to go becuase like i said service was good.
I was a customer of hostchum for about 3 or 4 days.
They ran a special for a really nice VPS and I decided to buy it.
1 gig ram
30 gig disk
400 gig bw
ect
When I first logged in, well... I couldn't.
Submitted a support ticket and got that problem fixed within two hours. "Good support!"
I thought... Next day, I logged in again and installed my cPanel, and noticed that I had been given a TRIAL LICENSE! Submitted a support ticket and a day later that had been fixed. And I should also mention that I was PROMISED, that I would have NO DATA LOSS!
Guess what happened! DATA LOSS! I lost everything that I had set up! And I was promised NO DATA LOSS! I submitted a support ticket and the owner was apparently "stunned" that I lost everything. Well it wasn't THAT big of a loss... So I installed all my websites again and fixed all the features that where lost. Then I had an issue installing Fantastico... Well submit a support ticket (it was an average of 2 tickets a day now...) and I was starting to see slower and slower response times...
Instead of the 30 minute response times I was used to... it was now hours before anybody got back to me. OK, thats not the worst support I have seen. They get back to me and tell me that its fixed... it had been about half a day to fix fantastico... but... they didn't. I was able to install it on my vps whm... but it didn't show up on any cPanel account. Submit another support ticket that day, 12 hours later, fixed.
"Fantastic," I thought, "everything now works!"
No.
The next day I get on one of my new websites internetincometeacher.com to mess around with the wordpress settings, getting ready to upload some of the content I had written... and I can't... the website is completely down!
It was JUST WORKING! I was FURIOUS! I submitted a support ticket over 36 hours ago and the problem has not been fixed... it hasn't even been identified! It took a day to get a response, and the response was:
"and what websites are not working?"
I said: "None of them"
Response: "what websites aren't working?"
I said: "None of them"
My response was 8 hours ago... Havn't received word yet.
I should also mention that I have requested a cancellation and a refund about 8 hours ago too and have not received word from them. Which is why I am writing this horrid review.
I suggest to everybody to not use them. And I would also be VERY suspicious of the positive reviews that I have read about them as well. They could just as easily be employees being told to create an account and write positive reviews.
I am filing a complaint with the local FBI office here and would like any help I can get to gather as much information as possible to give him.
The guys full names, phone numbers and any other info available and the addresses of the HostChum company and the VpsWiz company and any prior companies that the guys would have committed fraud at prior.
I don't know if this is the appropiate forum to post this.
The thing is that i have a domain and 2 days ago i have pointed it to another ns. Now i cannot reach it. I ping it and i get "Bad destination" on all pings.
Also, i cannot query the dns records for that domain.
I have a server with debian 3.1 sarge and 2.6.19-grsec kernel.
Sometimes is happend that I cannot reach my server for a few days in any way (cant ssh to it, connect to vnc, connect to psybnc which run from it etc..)
It says connection timed out, but when I try to connect to my server from another machine, its ok, I can reach vnc, ssh, psybnc and so on..
and If I use that other machine to connect to my server regularly, this cant reach my server thing happens again as at my computer.
We saw the special offer of ThePlanet here on banner advertisement and tried to get a special promo but since the last 3 days, I am running after them and every sales person is telling something different about promo and my deal even it's confirmed by management...
I couldn't reach anyone from razorservers for 2 weeks. I have 2 open tickets with no answer from staff for 2 weeks. I tried directly contact to Matt one week ago, but no answer too.
I have a VPS running Windows 2003 with Plesk 8.1 and MailEnable Standard Edition.
I don;t recieve all the emails that being sent to my domain. I know that a person did send e an email but it didn't reach my inbox. And, however, the user that sent this email didn't recieve any error.
Is there any way hat I can check this issue to be sure? It'snot only one person that I know the sent me emails and I dind't see them.
I don;t have antivisur or antispam enabled on this domain.
My internet connection is up and running, I can visit any site except for www.hostingdiscussion.com
After I notified my hosting provider - they said they can see the site just fine. However, how come it would just suddenly go off like that for me?
Please let me know if the site is up for you or not. I am located in Montreal, so if any of you are here using Videotron as your Internet service provider,
I received a call from my friend who lives in another city
in his office there are 2 computers one of them can visit my site but one of them can not
The page can not be found!
Nothing wrong with his computer because he is using internet and going here and there he only has problem coming to my site simply page can not be found.
I have had multiple A records for a website for years, i.e. www.mywebsite.com => 1.1.1.1, 2.2.2.2
Well 2.2.2.2 has been down for a few days due to technical issue. So I just figured "well i got some work to do this weekend to bring it up, no rush". Turns out that customers are calling and complaining "I couldnt reach your website yesterday for a few hours".
I am seeing no problems personally, but some customers are. I dont think the percentage of customers is very high but there are so far a dozen or so complaints.
Any ideas on what I am doing wrong or where to start looking? I thought the major browsers (i confirmed with four clients they are using IE) would try 1.1.1.1 and then 2.2.2.2 or vice-versa. But apparently that is not happening. I dont think the TTL makes a difference.
What could be set up wrong or is this to be expected ? (and how to improve for future?)
i own a dedicated server with cpanel. i have SPF record in my domain and still emails sent from outlook are placed in spam folder by yahoo? how to fix this problem?
In your opinion how much downtime is too much downtime?
1, 2, 5 hours over the course of a month? 99.8%, 98%, 95% total uptime too little?
I mean I can understand technical difficulties and I am willing to be patient with my host especially when the service (when it is up) is good but where exactly do you draw the line, start asking questions, or canceling that contract and demanding your refund?
i have 150 domains my server I wish it to migrate to a new server I can do restore domains, mail and users and data, stats to new server. I need minimum downtime so I need your's advice step by step which service need to restore first so my user get minimum downtime.
