Hivelocity - Misleading Ads - Uninformed Chat Operators

Mar 14, 2008

I asked one of our techs to search for an offsite server - to use for "emergencies" only. Browsing WHT, a skyscraper ad came up on one of the posts - image is here: .....

Hetzner Bandwidth Policy - Misleading Or Interpreted Incorrectly

Nov 2, 2009

We brought a RootServer with Hetzner after being recommended them. We did research on the service and they seemed to get positive review and the fact we are ordering from New Zealand we do not have to pay VAT.

We ordered our EQ 4 Server on 16/09/2009 and it was provisioned on the same day.

We were billed on the 2nd week of October which was fine. In the 3rd week of October the server exceeded 2TB and therefore it was reduced to 10Mbit/s which is fine.

It's now November and we expected the server to return to 100Mbit/s as per the definition on their website stating the following:

Quote:

Traffic Usage is for free. We will restrict the connection speed to 10 MBit/s if more than 2000 GB/month are exceeded. Optional, a permanent 100 MBit/s-bandwidth will be charged 14,90 € (incl. VAT) per additional TB.

Well of course my monthly bandwidth was reset to 0MB on November 1st and therefore we have not exceeded our usage for the month.

We emailed Hetzner Technicial Support with the following:

Quote:

Our server EQ 4 #XXXXX exceeded 2TB by roughly 650GB last month and was restricted to 10mbit/s as per Hetzner's policy.

It is now November 2nd and our server still remains restricted to 10mbit/s.

Can Hetzner please have a look into why this is the case and resolve the issue?

We received the following reply from Hetzner

Quote:

Your network connection has been throttled. Please contact our product advice.
This will tell you everything about your options.

This was not the response I expected, therefore I emailed their Technical Product Advice team with the following:

Quote:

Our server EQ 4 #XXXXX should not be throttled as it is November now.

Your website states "Traffic Usage is for free. We will restrict the connection speed to 10 MBit/s if more than 2000 GB/month are exceeded."

The Hetzner Robot states our usage is 10GB for the current month. Therefore it should not be throttled as we have not exceeded 2000 GB for the current month.

In turn I received the following response which was very unexpected response by Hetzner

Quote:

if a server is reduced once it stays "for ever" on 10 mbps or you agree paying overusage over 2 TB for the future with 14.90 Euro/TB or you remove traffic intensive application from server.

I have read and screenshot all their terms and conditions and also system policies which does not state any where that I agreed to stay on 10mbps once going over the 2TB/month.

Since Hetzner Online AG operates out of Germany, And since Germany is a member state of the European Union. It is bound by the Consumer Protection Directives of the European Union.

My question is have I interprated what Hetzner are offering/selling incorrectly or they have mislead me?

If they have mislead me then some of following rights and responsibilities apply, these apply everywhere in the EU.

Quote:

If the item you bought does not look or function as it was advertised, or if it is not satisfactory, you have the right to have the item replaced at no extra cost or to get your money back if the replacement was not completed in a reasonable time.
If you buy goods that turn out to be faulty, manufacturers must compensate you for any personal injury or damage caused to property.
When you buy goods or services by post, telephone, fax or through the Internet from a professional trader, you have the same rights in relation to guarantees as if you had bought them in a shop.

If they have mislead me I will be asking for a full refund of my last invoice which included setup costs and have no additional charges added to my account as I will be terminating my service with them asap and start searching for a new provider.

How Do Data Center Operators Make Their Purchasing Decisions

Mar 30, 2007

I'm interested in understanding more about how people who own data centers or rent out space at a data center (not just a rack) make their purchasing decisions for the environmental systems, power distribution, back-up generators, cabling, etc.

Does anyone know where I can
a) Talk to someone about this
b) Find out more information online
c) An industry association for data center managers

HiVeloCity

Apr 11, 2009

I am currently Hivelocity customer (also have servers with Softlayer).

I am wondering if Hivelocity ever plans to make portal options similar to Softlayer?

I am talking about automated os reinstall (better prices or free like SL does)

I am talking about Support ticket (Administration tickets which are 3 dollars at Softlayer).

I am talking about free kvm and stuff like that.

I am not asking this because i don't think that hivelocity is not good provider. I am with hivelocity for about 10 days now, and its been fine.

I must say that i am not very impressed with their customer portal page, ticketing page, server page, nor bandwidth graphs (where they had a problem with my account since the first day i signed up .. and problem is still there, 'they are working on it' which is fine ... i don't mind).

I must say that hivelocity gave me great deal on the server, thats why i ordered it with them.

I just hope that they will make some stuff hingssupport easier for their customers and make it less expensive to have our servers fixed, worked on.

Why I'll Never Use HiVelocity Again

Nov 8, 2009

I couple of weeks ago I was in need for a dedicated server, for my file hosting site. Now I needed the site as asap, so I even took the weekend off work just so I can work on the server and make sure everything is up and running.

So I found hivelocity by searching through the net and it had pretty good prices so, before I bought the server from Hivelocity I specifically asked how long will it take to setup the server and they told me it would be 24 hours. So I went and bought the server from them believing I would have it by saturday evening. So the next day around the same time I checked whether my server was online but it wasnt, I contacted support and asked them whats going on. This is what really irritated me..

I spoke to the same guy i spoke to the day before when buying the server. I asked him when my server would be online and he said its gonna be another 6 hours. So I told him what he told me yesterday.. he said it would take 24 hours. He then claimed he doesn't remember saying how long it took when I could CLEARLY remember he did, I wouldn't of bought the server if I didnt ask. And then after arguing with him he went and checked his records and turned around and said yes 24 hours was an estimate. First of all, why on earth would you say you don't remember that conversation and then the next second change your words.. he never said 24 hours was a rough estimate.

So even after that I waited that 6 extra hours (so I would have been 6AM in the UK), I came woke up the next morning around 12PM (so its now been 12 hours) to find the server still wasn't online. I went back onto support and then they said I have to wait upto ANOTHER 16 hours!

Now if I knew i would have to wait this long I would have just canceled my order there and then but I was reluctant enough to wait thinking that it may come online within the next few hours. The server went online the next afternoon! (Monday afternoon) So instead of their 24 hours they told me it took almost 72 hours!

I didnt even login to the account to check whether the server was online or not.. i went straight to support and asked them to cancel my account and give me a refund. They had no problem canceling my account, but they never gave me a refund saying its part of the T&C not to give refunds for dedicated servers.

So let me sum this up... I was told I would get a server within 24 hours which i didn't... i was lied to.. i took 2 days off of work...and then paid $165 for A SERVER WHICH I NEVER USED!

Hivelocity In UK

Oct 17, 2009

Does Hivelocity have a UK data center for their dedicated servers ? If they don't, where exactly in the USA is their data center located?

Anyway, I was just at Hivelocity's new Cloud server site www.thecloudiscoming.com and it says it is being launched on 10/15/2009 but they only have a "beta signup" option. Anyone know when the full service will be operational and the pricing?

Getting Hivelocity

Jun 23, 2008

I placed an order with Hivelocity to find out two days later that they want some extra signed paperwork (paypal authorisation form + copy of id). They never disclosed any of this during the signup process or discussions with their sales staff which is making me hesitant to use a provider that pulls strange tricks like old managed.com.

Any way do you have any suggestions where I can get a rapid deploy of FreeBSD 7.0 that is not Layered Technologies, Sagonet, Managed.com or Hivelocity?

HIVELOCITY Is The Way To Go.

Jan 18, 2007

i had a bad start with them, but now I got my server up 24/7 for 18 days straight now. They charge well for a 300 gb per month and 100 mbps of bandwdith. Their support is really quick too. The bad problem was my server crash every 2 time per week and I told the support if they can help me with that problem but they said they will charge 68 dollars per hr which is really bad. So i had to fix that problem, i don't know if i did or not. But over all, Hivelocity.com is great provider so far.

1. What's hivelocity's quality/latency like

2. How can Hivelocity be profitable at that rate?

Ethics At Hivelocity

Apr 26, 2009

I am very disappointed with business practices at Hivelocity. I rent a budget server from them and always pay on time.

Last week I received a reminder claiming an unpaid invoice and was threatened twice my service would be terminated if I would not pay. I checked my debits and all hosting invoices were paid.

I noticed they have sent me another invoice for a remote reboot feature for 3$. I have never ordered such feature and I am very surprised they dare to invoice me for a service I never ordered.

Unless this was an error, I find this very shady to be invoiced for items I never ordered - Yet, to be threatened disconnection of paid services. Neither an explanation why i was invoiced for unwanted items nor an apology was offered. They said I could cancel the service ... but why would I need to cancel an order I never made?

HiVeloCity Network

Apr 20, 2009

This is 4th day i am having network issue on HiVeloCity.

Does anyone else here experiencing the same problem, or its only rack where my server is located?

I am unable to use my server for almost 4 days as i already said, and they still have no solution for me.

Every time i open up a live chat with support, they tell me that they are checking, working on it, having someone see it, etc. but problem is still there.

What should i do?

I am going to post pings from SoftLayer and my home to their main ip (their websites' IP where i see pocket loss as well)

... because of this my websites are opening so slow, and many ppl are complaining about this.

Since there is many experts on this forum i would like advise from you guys.
I would like to stay with HVC if they can fix this, if not looks like i will have to look for another provider.

I Cannot Access Hivelocity

Oct 25, 2009

It would appear that Hivelocity's networks were incredibly, or portions of them were, from 430 am CST to around 630 AM this morning, and once again, god only knows how long it'll be down this time. 1m files were taking upwards of 1 minute to download and traceroutes 45+ seconds to complete, when one can get in the server that is. Anyone else noticing this? Here's a few traceroutes from inside the network (again, when I can actually get in). Quite latent ...

Hivelocity Warnings

Oct 15, 2009

If any of you are with or going with Hivelocity here are a few things we have encountered today:

We asked to cancel our Virtuozzo lisense at the end of this billing month which would be the 22nd, they then went ahead and cancelled it straight away meaning we had no backups for our VPS clients.

We then asked for them to install windows 2008 server onto our machine it took them from 12pm - 9pm to complete this.

After logging in to our billing system we find a new hard drive added to our server which one we did not ask for and two we do not need adding an extra $150 onto our server bill.

Overall today has been a real pain in the **** with them, yes I agree they are a fantastic host but the fact we have been billed for something we never asked for has completely annoyed me.

Bad Experience With HiVelocity

Jul 12, 2008

I have 3 servers with hivelocity, moved from LT. There where some problems at the setup, no problem, everyone has some problems, we got over them.

Everything was great until this morning.... I check my outlook I see a abuse mail from yahoo for a domain hosted on my shared hosting server(this was at 2:15 AM). Ok, I want to delete it but HOW (this was at 9AM)? The server is down ....

Sent a reboot tiket to highvelocity, after ~20 minutes a guy responses that the server was rebooted and tell him if I have problems later. I try the server... still down, the guy didn't even ping the server to see if it's online after the reboot.
Ok... I reply to the tiket, the server still down, please see what's the problem, I get a response from them to send the server info (user pass) so he can check. Ok, I send the info, I wait... I wait, after 20 minutes I check the tiket.... what tiket ? The tiket was deleted...

I open a new tiket and explain the problem and after ~1.5 hours I get a reply that my server was nulled due to abuse.
Every company that I worked with sent a notice and gived me 24 h to take action... ok, I get over the shok and I tell them to connect my server back so I can delete that account. Of course it would have been to easy to do that, he asked me another ip from the server so he can unull that ip. Ok, after another hour the secondary ip is unulled and I delete the account from the abuse mail and I reply to the tiket.
He replyes that they will verify asap and reconnect my server. 1 hour passed and no reply and the server still down. I open a live chat, tell him my problem after witch he sayd he told tech and they will activate my server asap.
One more hour passed and still nothing. Again open a live chat, same guy, and I ask for a logical explanation why is this taking so long but he just kept telling me that the tech support is "looking into it".

And just to make me even madder every chat session is starting with : "Hello, welcome to HiVelocity's Impressive Support TM. How may I assist you today?"

Now it's 11 hours after the server disconnection and the server is still down just becouse a abuse department guy didn't send me a notification to delete the abusing account.

Hope Steve or any Tech supervisor will see this and take some action. It's not normal to take 2 hours+ to unull an ip adress.

Oh, one more thing. After not geting any logical response from the online chat guy I asked for a email address from a tech superior so I can send a complaint but he just refused to give me one, telling me to post a reply to the support tiket.

I'm asking you WHT users... is this situation normal for a big company like hivelocity ?

2GB DDR RAM
250GB SATA
2000GB BW/MONTH
5 IP Adresses
PRICE: 69.95/m with NO SETUP FEES
and 50% off first month
hivelocity
1x Pentium 2.8 2GB 160 GB--- $75

HiVelocity Is Amazing

Aug 14, 2008

I am a webmaster in Hawaii and recently had a massive server upgrade. This was a hugely complicated process, and my host, HIVELOCITY.NET seriously came through for me.

Without any BS extra billing or attitude, they spent 30 days, patiently dealing with my frustrated emails, and ignorance. After 3 years of insanely positive support, they just kicked it over the edge and proved to me that they are the only host I need indefinitely. I have adult and non-adult sites and have required very intensive support.

HIVELOCITY has never tried to tell me "thats not within the scope of our support" like so many other hosts have. (EV1) They always resolve my problems without telling me " I need to learn shell better" or "you need to consider a managed hosting plan or a sys admin" I've heard this from so many BS hosts, it has driven me mad. So I thought i would help everyone looking for a reliable server and post here about my positive experience.

If you want a server thats run by people who care about your business, and show it, try HIVELOCITY.NET

Hivelocity 14 Months Review

Apr 6, 2009

I'd been with hivelocity for 14 months by now and i'm thinking to continue my bussines on there.

I created a thread on the past, this is the thread:

[url]

And this is what i said:

Quote:

What can i say?

They just Rock, Dave and steve are just great.

Dave is my account manager he is helpfull, quickly and very efficient.

i would like to recommend people to join in hivelocity.

They are just more than fine, my server is working great and i had 2 issues resolved.

1 issue in less than 20 mins (another server in the rack was consuming a lot of bandwith)
the other issue was a little more complicated but it has been resolved too, thanks Dave

They have the same problem with support than sharktech (not managed), but if you talk to your account manager or Steve they will take care of it and get the problem resolved in a few minuts, that's just cool.

Service and support for me was really good in one week with they .. i will stay for a long time here if everything goes right.

and if we can, stablish a long term business based on trust (i'm a coder i can help)

Well from that moment to now i can say the following things:

No downtimes, only schedules (maintenence)

No support problems.

I upgraded my server to a quad2core and for 6 months payment, they gove me a second HDD!

I'm sending new customers to hivelocity right now, and trying to start reselling their servers.

¿why do i want to?

Because Steve and Dave, are responsable guys.

Because Network works fine.

Last server i bought for a customer: 1 day setup, no problems. I did a hardware check and it was OK, no HDD failures and TEMPERATURE was the right.

Because they understand if you have a problem.

Because support is there to help, even if you don't pay for "Managed services"

And i think that, they manage customers as well, that you can feel as a part of the company and not just another Argentinian customer.

So, watching the huge financial crisis, i want to give a good review about this company, and try to get more and new customers to they.

I would highly recommend to buy their services, this is not another company this is one of the best companies i ever knew.

HiVelocity - Sales Experience

May 17, 2009

I was on WHT when i saw the banner ad of highvelocity and landed on the specials page and saw Core2Quad server. I opened live chat as it said in the banner ad for free stuff and upgrades.

Dave from hivelocity came on chat and we started negotiating and after a while i was offered Core2Quad, 8GB, 750 GB, 500 GB, 1500 GB with 100 mbps etc. for $184. I said okay and asked him to send me the quote so i can buy it in evening or the next day as I had to get approval for the funds from the boss.

To my surprise I got the approval etc. for 3 months pre-pay but I did'nt get the quote from Dave which was prmoised to me by Dave in 1 hour after live chat session. I in evening went agaion on live chat and no response. After waiting alot on livechat i opened a support ticket and it has not been answered till now.

Today i again went on live chat and after 15-20 mins of waiting Ron came up with the following chat we had:

Tapan: i even opened a support ticket
Tapan: there has been no reply to it
Tapan: is this the top notch service dave was refering to ?
Ron: dave is away at the moment

Tapan: no
Ron: dave@hivelocity.net
Ron: you can send him an email
Tapan: ok
Tapan: are you sales also ?
Ron: I will also have him to get back to you on this
Ron: nah
Tapan: ok
Ron: I am from tech support
Tapan: ok
Tapan: ok thanks bye
Ron: Bye

By the looks of this you can imagine the High Level of Support Dave was telling me about. I opened the livechat for a sales staff and a tech support guy is answering the live chat. This is really good!

I've had server with LT, Sago etc. and nowhere I have seen such crap at pre-sale level. How would they expect customer to return to them when they are behaving like this at the first step ?

4 Months Hivelocity Review

Oct 16, 2009

I've been seeing alot of negative threads about Hivelocity so I decide to post my review.

A little more than 4 months ago I ordered a server on Hivelocity using an offer they posted on twitter, it was a Core2Duo for $75/month and first month for $50. I ordered on the chat and the sales told me there wasn't any package with the Core2duo so he used the next cheapest server to order(Core2Quad q8200, everything else was the same) and wrote a comment saying that the actual server would be a Core2Duo.

I paid the bill, submitted some documents(on June 7) and waited, I had to send a few emails because there wasn't any progress with my order and by June 10 the server was live. When I logged in I realized I was given the Core2Quad q8200, same specs, better CPU

Ever since then I've not needed to talk to support for anything except adding some services(extra IP and 100mb port, both were quickly added and with no problems).

My server has been up ever since:

PHP Code:

uptime
 22:49:49 up 127 days, 17:45,  2 users,  load average: 0.02, 0.05, 0.07

And I've had very little downtime, according to Pingdom 99.98% uptime since June 15:

Their service has been Very Good so far and I've had no problems.

Hivelocity 1st Month Reviews

Oct 13, 2009

I jumped on one of the twitter daily deal they have - I was pretty happy with their services:

Speed of sites 4/5
Support Level 2/5

Anyways, they have a package for the 2.66 dual quad, They were out of it so they give me a 2.33 for 10 dollars less, I was like okay that fine.

Since the invoiced already paid, I thought I was going to get 10 dollars credit back and the next billing will be 180.

But no, I still get 190 dollars invoice, so I take it to the billing department (which only 1 person work there by the way) So while trying to get this solve, my server was pulled off without any telling so my sites was dead.

So I called their 800 number, and it was something wrong with their line, all break up and static. So I went online, and wait for about 5 minutes, the (only one) billing rep was there. She told me to pay now and we will talk to the (only one) sale rep that deal me with.

Overall, the speed of the server was good, but the support side is HORRIBLE.

Maybe is true that they only have 1 sale rep and 1 billing persron, but at least tell ahead in the ticket if you going to pull the server off While sorting out the problem.

I feel they are unprofessional and very unimpressive support. I paid their invoice and hoping to move out next month.

Stay way from them if you need any kind of support because it does take a long time. for technical support I think you pay a monthly fee or 65 dollars per hour. For billing you get the only one (Ju pak) and for sales you get the only one (Dave)

Overall, you can tell that I am not happy with them pulling off my server and you need a 24 hours waiting time for EACH reply.

So think twice when their site advertise IMPRESSIVE SUPPORT with an * on their site.

Should I Go With BurstNET, VolumeDrive Or Hivelocity

Apr 29, 2009

I have three similar offers from three different companies

1) BurstNET
Q6600
2GB RAM
250 HDD
2000GB transfer (not sure if its 10 Mbps or 100 Mbps... I think 10)
5 IP addresses
DirectAdmin unlimited domains
Basic Management
First month free

2) VolumeDrive
Q8200 or Q6600 (my choice)
4GB RAM
500 HDD
10 Mbps unmetered
Not sure how many IP (I forgot to ask =X)
Plesk 30 domain
Basic Management

3) Hivelocity
Q8200
2GB RAM
500 HDD
1500 GB over 10 Mbps (I wish it was 100 Mbps...)
6 IPs
DirectAdmin Unlimited domains
Silver Plan management

The prices for all the above are similar (only a few dollars here and there).

VolumeDrive has the best deal spec wise, but I really like the first free month w/ BurstNET (gives me a chance to "try out their service") but I know Hivelocity has the best reputation. Its like highschool drama all over again .

Hivelocity Review 1+ Years

Feb 26, 2009

I was a member of hivelocity for about a year and 4 months. I really like this company.

They have very fast support even if you don't buy the golden ticket for support for dummies like most websites want you to buy for help with your server which is called managed servers.

I went with an unmanaged server because i knew my way around the linux system. Any type of trouble i had all i had to do was go to live support and ask a question and they would right away check on the problem and fix it. I even remember sitting in the chat support for a few hours while they discussed things that were wrong and how i make my server more secure. They also even upgraded a few things for free for me that i didn't have the time to do myself. I also liked the ability of being able to go unmetered for bandwidth for a little bit more money instead of hundreds of dollars more.

Although if you know very little about linux or servers in general i would suggest the managed package.

But i would recommend them to people who are looking for a great company who doesn't lack the support a lot of websites out there tend to have with cheaper prices.

I have had servers from other websites such as managed which worked out for a while but their support was very bad and since years ago they have moved up higher in prices which lead me to find other web hosts to fit my needs.

Now before you jump to any conclusions the only reason i left hivelocity is due to i quit my job and needed to put my money elsewhere for a while.

They even let me go a month past due just so i could save my files which i really owe them one for that.

1-10 being 1 the lowest in the following catagories.
Support - 10
Server - 10
Price - 8
Company - 10
uptime - 10

HiVelocity Experience Review.

Oct 4, 2009

I had decided to transfer 1 server into Hivelocity. It was a low $200s server with Hivelocities Platinum magagement plan. I was attracted to the pricing and the options available to configure my server how I wanted. I also liked the fact that they are somewhat local to where I live.

I had placed the server order with Drew. The server was delivered to me in 4 days, I was not in any rush so I did not mind. We started the migration process and went with out a problem until we went live. According to the tech the hard drive cable was bad and was replaced within 2 hours. These things happen and I still was not upset.

I was thinking to take advantage of the annual pricing offered and bring over the other servers until one morning I get flooded with phone calls chats and emails. I immediately try to log in the server to no avail so I contact Hivelocity. I was then told to contact the abuse department, well the abuse department does not take phone calls so then I was to told to log in a ticket.

What had happened was 1 of the hundreds of accounts hosted on the server recieved a copywright complaint and the server would not go back online until deleted and a ticket respond. I always comply with any complaint however I would appreciate at least a few hours to resolve, rather them an immediate disconnection. When you sell shared hosting you will always have a few accounts that are bad. No hosting company is immune to this. The server went back online 2 hours later.

Similar scenarios happened 2 more times with excessive down time in the first month that I was with them. Needless to say after talking several times with the GM Steve, I learned that he promises you one thing and either does another thing or does nothing as promised. For ex: will call you or will give a few hours to resolve any future complaints.

To compile further worries I learned that Hivelocity was terminating servers with out allowing transfer, including one host that was in business over 10 years. I do not know the non-bias details of those scenarios but I do know those things do not happent at the Planet, Softlayer or any other major datacenter, otherwise it would have been posted all over the net as was with Hivelocity.

In closing, my impression of the place was that their servers are ok, the bandwith is a bit spotty, the techs are ok, albeit one being a smart ass, the GM is a great speaker and the abuse guy is trigger happy. I do love the Hivelocity banners though.

It's too bad as I thought I had found a company that can save me alot of money however it ended costing me much more with loosing good clients.

HiVelocity - The *WORST* Experience EVER

Apr 16, 2009

First let me say I cringe whenever the thought of changing dedicated providers enters my mind. Sorting through the resellers and all of the broken promises is a tedious process and I like many others have been screwed over too frequently.

I came across HiVelocity yesterday and their offer for a quad core, 8gb 500 drive for $199. Sounded great, plus they offer free KVM over IP which was a bonus.

Yesterday about 4:45pm eastern I went on live chat with sales at HiVelocity and spoke with Kevin B. I asked if he could get this server online quickly and he said all servers are built after 5pm for the day and are usually online that night. We went over the details of my order and I quickly sent a paypal payment. I was undecided on Windows 2003 or 2008 but I went with 2003. At about 8pm Kevin leaves me a voice mail on my cell and tells me they ran out of Heat Sinks and that the server would be delayed until Wednesday. "Ran out of heat sinks" sounded a little odd like I was being BS'ed but I figured it was fine because I did want 2008 installed on it and decided the $50/month extra was worth it. I went back to on to Live Chat about 10pm and Kevin said he would have a day tech get to the server for me in the morning (Wednesday) and I also upgraded the O/S to Server 2008 DataCenter and increased the bandwidth to 100Mbps. I sent over ANOTHER paypal payment to upgrade. Grand total $248 + $55 (for 2008 upgrade and dedicated kvm). $303 later and...

This morning (Wednesday) I make contact again and Kevin says he has a day tech working on it. 3pm rolls around, contact again and he says its built and ready. HiVelocity provides a link to a supposedly "live" server build page that shows you the status of the build. Status never said built but I took his word for it and waited for the welcome email so I could finally get my sites online and meet my deadline.

Well 9:30pm rolls around and NO SERVER YET!

I go to live chat again and talk to Andrew. He says sorry for the delay, you can check your status at the status page. I lost it at that point and pretty much told him I lost 31 hours so far "waiting" for a server to be built when I could have gone with another company and had the thing online at least within 14-18 hours and spent the remainder with configuring and migrating data. Told him 10:30pm the server better be ready or I'm canceling and disputing the charge with Paypal.

It is now 11:17 and I've been writing this whole time. I kept checking my email and even gave andrew my cell phone number to give to anyone there who cared and wanted to keep me as a customer. Still no email, no server, out $303, lost over 33 hours as of right now and its looking like the hosting hunt will begin again *^*(o.o)*^*

So anyway I wanted to share this horror story. This is why I HATE shopping for a dedicated server.

I read a lot of mixed reviews for HiVelocity and I really don't want to give them more bad press but the way I've been promised everything and NOTHING was done justifies me posting this for everyone to read.

If you're looking for a dedicated server, I would advise to pass this MAJOR HASSLE of a company. "Impressive Support" my @!#.

AND YES, everyone I spoke with BEFORE THE PURCHASE was well aware that I needed this pronto and I was assured it would get done! Now they are silent and ignoring me.

And if the guy that mods for HiVelocity on these boards reads this, the damage has been done. Instead of handling AFTER CARE for people on the boards, how difficult is it to communicate. I don't care if it wasn't going to get done at least I would have known and gotten another box somewhere else and used this as a backup. Making sure your account managers don't talk #$@#%$ and not deliver should be of more concern.
