Looking For A Dedicated Server With 3-4 TB Of Space For ~100 USD A Month
Jan 6, 2009I'm looking for a server with 3-4 TB of disk space and moderate traffic requirements (1.5-2 TB a month will suffice).
CPU, RAM do not really matter.
Location: EU or US.
Price: ~100 USD a month with some setup fee or ~120 USD without.
So far I found OVH's SP Storage (http://www.ovh.co.uk/individual/products/superplan_storage.xml) which offers 4 x 1.5 TB RAID0/1 drives for a total of 3 TB disk space. However I can't register with them and their sales did not react quickly enough yet to help me.
Is there anyone else with similar offerings with whom you have personal experience?
Dedicated Hosting For Under Or Around $100/month?
May 28, 2008I've gone through a few shared web hosts, and they don't meet the needs for a new project I'm working on. I was hoping someone could perhaps recommend me a good reliable US based web host with the following requirements:
- Dedicated
- 80GB storage (minimum)
- 1024MB RAM (minimum)
- Reasonable bandwidth
I'm wondering how much importance I should place on the CPU, as the website is relatively low traffic, but serves large files. The model itself isn't too far different from something like 'yousendit.com', but not open to the public.

Send Email To 282 Users (1-2 Times A Month & Not Every Month) Spamming
Mar 6, 2009My website suspended by a hosting service provider they told me that I try to send some spamming emails, the details about my website it's very small with 282 users (before suspended) I used phpBB version 2 and send news to users with phpBB send mail function. Frequency of sending is not more than 2 times a month and not every month.
I've already contacted the hosting provider they didn't help anything just say "Hold on" for 1 day a ago.
Wiredtree Month By Month Review
Jan 28, 2009I've signed up with Wiredtree for a Managed VPS 12 days ago.
I know it's not enough time to write a review. But I decided to write my first impression then keep you updated by writing a new review at the end of each month, so expect one at 12 February.
For now, these guys are simply the best I've tried.
They reply you in 15 minutes or less and if it took them more, 20 minutes or something, then be sure that they're investigating your problem. If you can't wait for 15 minutes, then go ahead and give them a call on their toll-free number and they'll be with you second by second. Their support wont just solve your problem, but they'll educate you telling you what caused the problem and how did they fix it.
I'm solicitous about security. But with these guys, I finally sleep peacefully knowing that my VPS is well secured.

Sep 12, 2008My 150gb Raptor drive in my Q9300 + 8gb ram server got corrupt. When restarting, the tech got a halt error:
Windows failed to load because the kernel debugger DLL is missing, or corrupt.
Status: 0xc00000e9
File: Windowssystem32kdcom.dll
Their tech support is good, but I've lost all my valuable data. I can't say that I'm happy about using Limestonenetworks now. I never suspected that I'd be having a disk failure in the first month.

*Why This Review*
Originally the intention was to forget as soon as possible about what happened in the past three months and to move on with our new isp. To our regret, Leaseweb has besides the overall lack of service in the past months found it neccessary to kill our network connection without notice a day prior to the ending of our contract. Eventhough the impact is minimal, this gesture speaks for itself.
*Ordering a Server*
Having been a leaseweb customer directly and indirectly for several years in theyre budget segment we to be fairly honnest have rarely had any trouble ordering, nor have we had any trouble with the delivery of the purchased servers.
We experienced differently when ordering the following :

LeaseWeb: Prepaid For 1 Year; Waited 1 Month; Still No Working Server
May 22, 2009Prepaid for 1 year: EUR 19xx.
HP server provisioned on Apr 18, but with wrong hardware: KVM not working, and RAID controller can't do JBOD.
After slow and lengthy email exchange, they agreed to swap it with a Dell that's supposed to fix these hardware problems. Price would remain the same.
Dell server provisioned on May 18, but again RAID controller can't do JBOD. And access to KVM is not provided.
And they want to charge me another EUR 19xx for this replacement server!
Immediately emailed them about these 3 problems, but it's been 4 days and haven't heard a word from them.

Someone suggested me Rackspace. But they were charging premium rates 440 USD for entry level windows server.

While I was searching for Dedicated Servers, I learnt about Virtual Dedicated Servers but I am not very sure about their reliability? Are Virtual Dedicated Servers useful? My website current serves over 2500-3000 visitors a day resulting in 30,000 pageviews and I am expecting the traffic to grow by atleast 2 folds in the next few months as I start some PPC campaigns and Email Marketing for my website. Can a Virtual Dedicated Server cater such needs assuming my website to be more of less dynamic website written in php?

Oct 16, 2013I have Plesk 11.5 (service provider mode) on a Windows 2008 server IIS7.Most of my sites are developed in .asp and therefore i use a custom 500-100.asp error page that check s the IP of the visitor then displays either a friendly error, or if its my IP a full error of what has happened (it also emails me the error). This allows me to debug pages easily whilst developing and to keep an eye on anyone trying SQL Injection hacks on my sites (as the error and email also have session variables and IP address).I dont have root access to the server as it is a Webfusion dedicated server.I have following the Plesk documentation -
1) Switch on custom errors for the subscription
2) Look in virtual directories and navigate to error documents
3) Find the error in question (500:100) and change it to point at either a file or URL
FILE - I had the data centre add in the 500-100.asp error page in to the virtual template so that my page is available in the list of virtual files - this didn't work but that maybe because its not a static page??
URL - when i add the path it says its incorrect, if i add a fully qualified address, it accepts it but it doesn't work.give me a specific example of the URL that can be entered relative to the root as the format in the documentation isn't accepted. The last step is to restart IIS which is also an issue as i cant seem to do this from the Plesk panel..It is as if it isn't catching the 500:100 error, and only catching the general 500 error??

My streamers will be using my server aswell, On weekends we will be running 3-4 streams at a time, weekdays 1-2 at a time.

It's already up and running with static IP address, however hosting offers a "Static IP Address", which doesn't really make sense, cause I already have one?

What To Do With A Dedicated Server
Feb 10, 2009I have been given a fairly high spec dedicated server and I would like suggestions what I could do with it.
Briefly the spec is: Dual Opteron, Two 360GB HDD's, 4GB Ram, on Unmetered Bandwidth located in Germany.
I don't want to host anything like warez, torrent server or any web -hosting service. ( I already have a hosting server )

Oct 21, 2009I got control of some colocation resource in Taipei, Hong Kong and several cities in China (Beijing, Shanghai and probably Guangzhou & Shenzhen), and is now considering starting a business by deploying blade servers into my racks with Internet bandwidth as well as private bandwidth interconnected between the above IDC.
My target will be corporation, web developer / SI who want their / their clients' web site or IP application online with target users in those regions.
I prefer to deploy VM or VPS instead of dedicated servers as space/electricity in China is very expensive and higher density should be the way to go.
So I'd like to know more what the difference is between VM and VPS in terms of customer perception and actual features.
In areas of VM and VPS, which vendor do you recommend and why?
