Crucial Hosting Having Awful Time

Jul 8, 2009

I too am having an awful time with Crucial (crucialwebhost.com). I've been with them for three months and each month there has been a server issues that cause my sites to not function. They use Softlayer so you would think it would be better.

When I report problems I feel as though I am being stalled. Some of their people are really good but others just don't want to be there (you can tell) it's a flip of the coin.

Right now my sites have been down for days.

Do Not Use Hosting-Ie- Awful Service

Apr 14, 2008

I ordered a VPS from Hosting-IE on the 25th March and was initially told it would take 4 days or so to setup. A week later I emailed them, and was told by Max that it would be setup that day.

Throughout the next week I emailed a few times and received no response at all, and got fed up so a few days ago I just filed a complaint with Paypal to try and get my money back (After waiting nearly 3 weeks for a VPS I think I should). Now Hosting-IE are saying to Paypal that they gave me the info, when this isn't true.

So I just lost 60 euro's, not that much but still enough to get annoyed about. Gonna see if I can file a chargeback with my credit card company.. hopefully it should work.

Anyway, definately stay away from Hosting-IE! I should have read up on them before I ordered..

Crucial Hosting

May 22, 2009

Crucial Hosting portrays their business to very customer service oriented.

I found their service to be horrible. They take forever to respond to a ticket. Then they respond by asking you to open another ticket.

Their on-line help is week and their tech support people are just rude and un-helpful. After all that when you try to cancel they just basically force you to have to dispute the charges.

Web Hosting Review - Crucial Paradigm

Mar 4, 2008

First off, thanks to all you folks at Web Hosting Talk forums for helping a newbie like me in taking the fist step towards an online presence. The inputs of members on WHT have been not only helpful but also educating and informative.
Would like to specially thank Jedito and Aussie Bob for their time and assistance as well.

I have now decided to go for Shared Hosting with Crucial Paradigm.

Ijan who goes by the nickname CrucialP has been very kind and has given a huge discount for the first year, considering this is for a uni project. He has patiently replied to all my queries that I have been bombarding him with. Ranging from the real silly ones, right to the technical queries that deal with the uni project.

Most of the questions were, more because I am new to this and apprehensive in taking the next step, which is, choosing the “right” host.

What was surprising, besides the huge discount that brought a big smile on my face, was that once I registered on the Crucial Paradigm website (which was last evening at 5:30pm), they already set up my account and sent me details/password/access etc. before I even made the payment.

Since I already had a domain name registered with Answerable, I made the Name Server changes this morning. I instantly got my splash page up and running.

I thought this would take anywhere between 24 – 48 hours so was surprised to see it happen instantly.

So far, it’s been great dealing with Crucial Paradigm. Thanks Ijan/CrucialP.

I hope to keep posting here in between uni assignments and tinkering with websites to see how this goes further.

ASPnix Is Awful

Sep 23, 2009

I highly encourage people to reconsider another web hosting company. I'm a programmer and usually have to pick a hosting for my clients, and because their down time can be as long as 1 week or even more they caused me a lot of embarrassment with my clients. though their support somehow helpful but they must reconsider their technical plan. I never experienced such hosting where we can get down time for week or some times couple a days!

Servage Support Awful

Nov 8, 2008

Everytime my site is down, which is about twice a month, i ask Servage and everytime, i get no answer or i get a really late reply.

Today my site has been down 3 hrs, and ive put in 2 support tickets now, and yet im ignored, but they advertise their support time is 30 minutes? How is that an average when i have to wait hours EVERYTIME?

They are really awful for support, hosting is ok for a shared.. i cant wait to move off it.

Hostgator, 1AND1 And GoDaddy {awful}!

Jan 3, 2009

I have had problems with all three hosting providers and the support and such seems good at first. However as time goes you will see more problems and they will be slower and slower to respond to your questions.

I have now found better ways of hosting and learned more, It's also saving me a bunch of money.

Is Crucial.com.au Scammers

Feb 27, 2009

Anyone knows if crucial.com.au is really Crucial Paradigm? I placed an order on this website for a VPS for a customer of mine on 19th, paid the invoice on the same day using PayPal, but my order was never setup. 2 days ago I submitted a Support ticket but they still don't answer it. It's now over 1 week since I ordered. Just a warning to anyone considering this company.

Anyone Else Having Issues With Crucial Paradigm

Sep 19, 2008

Has anyone else had a real issue with Crucial Paradim and some of their business practices? We started a VPS there for a project that was time sensitive, we had issues from the start with not only the control panel but support as well. You send a support issue in, it get's picked up by someone and then pitched off to someone else to resolve.

Needless to say the original issue that should have been resolved by the first tech ended up getting touched by 4 techs and took several hours to fix. We ended up going with Linode.com which has worked from signup without any issues at all and yet Crucial Paradim refuses to cancel the account or offer a refund above 30% of the month we paid for, even though all of the issues were due to their CP software and support, and we used their service for 4hrs at the most....out of a whole month!

Crucial Paradigm - First 3 Weeks Review

Jul 10, 2008

Crucial Paradigm – First 3 week review

Before going to CP I contacted the owner on here on WHT and asked him some pre sale questions. He was very helpful and informative and he didn’t care how many questions I had.

After signing up with the hosting my account was created instantly and I was ready to go. Then I downloaded the free WHMCS that I got from CP and my hosting was already up and ready to sell. Since signing up with CP I have already sold so much hosting just by marketing their features on my website.

The support team is very fast and informative. The first time I sent in a ticket I expected to wait until a couple of hours later or even a day, I had a reply in under 30 minutes. My issues have always been resolved within a hours even if they happen at 3 a.m. Support is one of the main things I look for in a hosting provider and this company surely provides that.

The servers are amazing, they are configured with many different features and add-ons.

Part of picking my reseller I wanted to make sure I found a host with at least fantastico and other basic cpanel things but CP had the latest MySQL and PHP which is great. It also comes with Ruby on Rails which a lot of customers enjoy having. This has really been one of my key marketing tools.

Like most people think that the most important thing about finding a host is finding one that will not have data loss. Their servers are RAID protected on 7 different discs, this is very re-assuring. I also like the instant back ups they offer which makes it easy to maintain your own back ups.

In all I have to say this is the best host I have ever used I hope to be a long time client. I would just like to thank CP and their support team for such a great experience so far, and especially for migrating all of my 131 accounts manually.

Host For Magento- Crucial Or The Planet

Jul 17, 2008

We are building a new shopping cart for our ecommerce site and plan to use magento. As I understand it magneto is and incredible cart but also a resource hog that doesn’t work well with $10-20 a month shared hosting.

We have narrowed it down to two options.

The $100 a month plan from crucial. Which is still shared but it is limited. I think they split the server below into ten virtual servers and each virtual server has 5 users. I like them because they seem to be interested in optimizing the server environment for use with magento .

[url]Quad Core Intel Xeon Harpertown 3.0 GHz
16 GB fully buffered DDR-2 RAM
Fully redundant RAID-10 disk array
1000 Mbps network port uplink switch

The other option is a fully dedicated server from the planet. . The people building our site recommend this option because it is dedicated.

They have a dedicated sever with the specs below for $147 with the promo code DX
[url]
Package name- Dual Xeon 2.8 - IDE
Harddrive-2 x 80 GB IDE/SATA HDD
RAM-2 GB
Bandwith-2500 GB

Crucial Paradigm 9-Month Shared Review

Oct 1, 2008

Uptime/A+

Functionality/A-

Speed/A+

Support/B

Support Response Time/A+

Support response time is in minutes. Just like Support everywhere, reading ticket histories gets overlooked, so you often have to repeat entries. Keep entries short to aid reading comprehension. Even at "B," Support is the best I've encountered in seven years and about a dozen hosts.

Gopikrishnan in Support is superb - actually agrees with my tickets, and when the problem can't be corrected, satisfies me with a valid technical reason and suggests a workaround.

After upgrades to cPanel, Horde is initially problematic - you have to reset an option or two and sending email may not work at first.

First-Time Hosting

May 30, 2008

I want to find a web host and i have a couple of specifics that I'd like. Obviously I want the lowest cost for a relatively reliable service. I am looking to get started in my own web development/design business so I want to use this server as a development environment for myself as well as a deployment environment for potential clients.

I want to have SSH access to my space, the ability to host without buying a domain (at first, ill want to get one later), a good number of MySQL databases.

Some things that would be nice would be the ability to resell space for clients, not absolutely necessary though.

Are there any solutions that anyone here could suggest for me? What are some pitfalls and things I should watch out for? What else could I look to take advantage of?

How To Set Time Zone On Web Hosting

Jul 29, 2009

I am having an issue where it appears an incorrect time zone may be on my account. I am in Mountain Daylight Time and it appears that it's putting me as being in Eastern Daylight Time.

I was told that you can put a line such as:SetEnv TZ America/Denver
in your htaccess.txt file.

I wasn't sure where to put it so I put it at the end of the hdaccess.txt file.

The issue is it appears it still did not fix it. Is there another way to set the time zone or did I do something incorrectly?

When Is It Time To Move From Shared Hosting To Vps

So putting to rest which one is the "best", when do u decide that it is time for u to move on to a vps or dedicated server. what is the daily bandwidth that should make you realize that u need to move on to a better server before they cut u down cos u r taking up "too many resources"

Is My VPS Hosting Not Providing Enough Resources For My Websites - Time To Upgrade

Sep 20, 2008

Hosting: VPS Hosting with 320 MB min and 1024 MB burst.

Websites: All the websites (about 20+) on my current vps hosting are very database heavy. They include blogs, ecommerce sites and a few small forums.

Before: In the beginning, when I had less than 10 websites on my hosting, the web hosting worked great. No hiccups and all websites worked flawlessly.

Now: Now that I'm hosting 20+ websites, I find that websites sometimes tend to timeout or not show up in my browser as well as browsers in other locations.

Do you think I need more resources? Do you think that upgrading to Hybrid Server hosting will rectify the situation?

Server Response Time :: Network Time Out

Sep 25, 2008

I can't get access to a certain site. I always get the page with:

network time out - server at *** takes to long to respons. More people have noticed this and apparently it only happens to people with certain specific providers. And not all the time. Some times they DO get access eventy to they belong to the same ISP. So I guess an ISP isn't blocking access to it otherwise it would be permenantly/The site administrator insists that certain ISP's are blocking his site. He's hosting it on his own server. The domain belongs is registered at namecheap.com.

If an ISP is blocking this site (if that's possible?), that would lead to that 'network timeout' page wouldn't it?

What is the most likely reason for getting a timeout page anyway?

Daily, Time To Time Cpu Load

Aug 9, 2007

I have a dedicated server specs: AMD 3500+ 64 Bit CPU, 1 GB Ram, 160 GB Sata Drive. For 1 month, CPU load average reaches 40-50 value. This happens about 5-6 times in a day. When I stop httpd service for 30 seconds everything goes normal. I think this is not a DoS attack because it comes systematic, I dont believe no one makes this regularly except bots.

Maybe its a system service or a cronjob but it stops when I turn off httpd service?
How can I be sure about what's making this regularly load?

I also did set up a script which mail me when load average of system goes crazy and restart httpd service. But instant restart is not working to stop load increase.

Apache :: Server Going Down From Time To Time

Feb 6, 2013

The server is going down from time to time, every 12 days or so the site hosted there is no longer accesible, everything starts with the site slowing don and down and then is not longer reachable, what we do is to request a power cycle, and with this we start all over again till next power cycle, so on so on, of course, here are my server details and more info on this:

- MySQL - 5.1.41-3ubuntu12.10
- Apache - 2.2.14-5ubuntu8.4
- PHP - 5.3.2-1ubuntu4.9
- operating system: Ubuntu Server 10.04 LTS

After some time emailing the support guys to barely check about what's going on, we received an email with a few things:

1.- found a few errors that likely would cause issues with Apache. The first error is:
[Mon Feb 04 05:03:10 2013] [error] mod_fcgid: fcgid process manager died, restarting the server and the next error is:
[Mon Feb 04 14:32:34 2013] [error] server reached MaxClients setting, consider raising the MaxClients setting ...

Both these errors seem to indicate that you have a process that is running out of control on your server. We were unable to determine what script on your site is running caused your connections to be maxed out however it does appear that before these errors were generated there was a WordPress plugin referenced in your access logs...

2.- Additionally during our review we did find that your error log for mercadodedinerousa.com is 45 GB's which is excessively large and can cause problems when Apache is trying to write a such a large file.

3.- The majority of the errors being logged are:
[Wed Feb 06 12:12:31 2013] [error] [client 200.76.90.5] Options FollowSymLinks or SymLinksIfOwnerMatch is off which implies that RewriteRule directive is forbidden: /var/www/vhosts/mercadodedinerousa.com/httpdocs/index.pl, referer: [URL]

Time For A Dedicated? And Opinions On Future Hosting Dedicated Servers?

Mar 26, 2009

Some information about my forum:

I run a VBulletin forum with - 575,614 post, 14,369 members and 2.9 million page views per month. On average there are 300 - 400 people on the site.

The server right now is a Linux CentOS VPS with 1.1 gigs of memory. The hosting provider keeps telling me that I need a dedicated server.

Question # 1 - In your opinion - do you think its time for a dedicated server?

The server I am looking at has these stats:

E8300
2 GB RAM
250GB HD
cPanel
Management

The price I was given is pretty good. So the offer is going to be hard to pass up.

Question # 2 - Has anyone here used Future Hosting for their dedicated server solution?
