Addon Domain Browser Location
I have setup an Addon Domain in cPanel.
[url]is pointing to:
[url]
That is working fine, test it for yourself.
However, I want the URL in the browser to read: [url]but currently as you can see the long URL appears.
How can I make the short clean URL appear in the browser?

Addon Domain
I have a domain with 2 addon domains added to it. Lets call the domain1.com and the addons are domain2.com and domain3.com I transfered the sites from one server to my server and know if I try to goto domain2.com or domain3.com they are not found. If I goto domain1.com/domain2 (or 3) it works just fine though. I tried to do the addon domain in cpanel but it is coming up with the following errors. Bind reloading on server using rndc zone: [domain1.com] The subdomain, domain2.domain1.com has been added. Error from park wrapper: domain2.com is already configured. Removed domain2.domain1.com Server at line: 1244. Removed Entry from httpd.conf Bind reloading on server using rndc zone: [domain1.com] The subdomain, domain2.domain1.com has been removed. domain2.com could not be setup. The subdomain domain2.domain1.com was not setup either. How can I fix this? I did try to make domain2 its own account after that, but the script did not work for some reason even though it does if I goto domain1.com/domain2. I know it must be something simple I am missing, but for the life of me I am drawing a blank. Also, I moved the site by doing a complete backup in Cpanel and uploaded that to the new server and restored it from the WHM backup screen.

Addon Domain
I currently have an established domain, mainsite.com, which is running PHP-Nuke on the directory /home, with a redirect accordingly. Now, I've created an addon domain, 2ndsite.com, for which I've installed Wordpress at the top-level. The trouble is, 2ndsite.com defaults to mainsite.com/home - unless I redirect 2ndsite.com to mainsite.com/2ndsite. If I do that, I can then see my WordPress installation. I'd obviously like to have 2ndsite.com be viewed from that address, as opposed to a subdir under mainsite.com - that is why I got the domain in the first place.

Addon Domain In Cpanel
I create a abc.com domain hosting in whm. then I login to abc.com cpanel to AddOn Domain. I try to addon xyz.com into abc.com cpanel. But when i enter to xyz.com website it always show "Great Success ! Apache is working on your cPanel and WHM™ Server" cPanel and Apache page. The domain is already more then 2 days and ping already propogate to server. May i know is httpd.conf or mod_security problem?

Parked On Addon Domain
Can a domain be parked on an addon domain in a cPanel server? At first thought I do not see it as a problem as a ServerAlias directive for the parked inside the addon domain Virtual Host container inside httpd.conf is all is required but cPanel may not allow for all it's wisdom. Let me know if cPanel would pose a problem or wouldn't allow this scenario.

Restoring Accounts To Addon Domain
Currently, 2 domains hosted on a dedicated server with each account having its own Cpanel. I'm going to move/migrate these 2 domains to a shared hosting server. The shared hosting accont has Cpanel and I've added 2 Add-on domains (the same ones on the dedicated). In total, there are 3 domains under the shared hosting account; The main domain and the 2 other (add-on) domains. My question is it possible to restore these 2 accounts under a single cpanel account and having all the emails intact? So, in essence, I'm having a single cpanel account to manage the 2 domains to be transferred from the dedicated.

Addon Domain, Cant Have Password Protected Folders
I have 2 domains on 1 account. My main website is www.aviationcafe.net and i added on www.modelcuir.com thats what it looks like to the public. But with my host it will be www.modelcuir.aviationcafe.net. I noticed in the files area that modelcuir is it's own file, i can password protect that but it will stop people getting onto the website completly and i only want to stop them getting into the members area. I can't create a members area either unless i can add a new folder which i can't i dont think.

E-mail From Addon Domain Flagged As Junk
I have an addon domain running on my webhosting along side my primary account. I am mostly using the Thunderbird client to send e-mails. 80% of the time when I send a mail out from "name@addondomain.com" hotmail, gmail, yahoo all see it as spam! What's ironic is I receive more darn adult e-mails in my free accounts than anything else, and yet it's thinking the occasional mass personal message is SPAM? So these guys that flood my inbox daily must know something I don't? Is there something I'm doing incorrectly? Or do I need to change a hosting package setting, should I use different software such as a php mailing list?

Addon Domains Vs Separate Domain Pros/cons
I'm trying to understand more the Pro's and Con's for having an Addon Domain vs Separate domain. Here's my use for it. Site1.com holds all the files, Site2.com holds all the video and images. When it comes time to add a second server (end of this year) I could move Site2.com to a second server and nfs mount it. Thats of the site is separate. PROBLEM: separate site means permission problems, when write code ie.php you can unlink / move files without permission which means setting up special groups. Addon domain doesn't have the permission problem from what I can see, since the domain gets the group access of the Mainsite. so no extra configuration required. now the problem would be how do I get that addon domain to a second server to offload some of the resources.

Cpanel AddOn Domains With Subdomains Automatically From Main Domain
Lets say I have abcd.com as the main domain on cpanel. abcd.com has 10 subdomains. Basically what I want to do is when I do an addon domain or parked domain I want the subdomains to basically point to abcd.com automatically. Let's say the addon/parked domain is 1234.com For example I have sub.abcd.com as the main subdomain so when I type in sub.1234.com I want it pointed to sub.abcd.com internally meaning the script/files from there however in the browser show as if it were sub.1234.com

Do Any Good Hosts Provide A CPanel That Keeps Addon Domain Lists In Order
I find that I like using CPanel with addon domains in a new unlimited domains shared plan rather than using WHM with each name having its own CPanel in a reseller plan (which I have been used to until now at another host). The only problem is that all the addon domains are out of order - they are not even in the order in which I add them. This puts a damper on things and makes managing them much less efficient than one would expect with the addons in order. After putting in a support ticket, I was told they can't do anything about it at all. They told me the order of the listing is the order in the "mail server apache configuration." After posting this matter here in the Apache forum, I have been informed by an SP member that the answer I got wouldn't hold any water at all, or more accurately, consists of a whole lot of smoke. As a person who knows how easy and basic it is to sort data lists or drop-down form selector fields myself, I must admit that it's hard to believe nothing can be done in the 21st century. I have no desire at all to go with another reseller plan, and like using CPanel instead with addons. Does anyone know of the good and well known unlimited domain hosting providers who keep the addon domains in order within CPanel? Is there any other good option for shared hosting that doesn't involve using WHM and does offer common sense multiple domain management where everything is in order?

Location Of The Domain Name Server (DNS) Is Important ?
we have a server where we run sites and emails, but now we are going to buy a offsite email solution (based on ms exchange) in order to have our emails running when our web server is down. But at the momment we run our own dns at our webserver using our own nameservers, in order that our emails keep working during a webserver downtime, we need to host our dns server at another location. So the offsite email company that is based in usa, said to us that they can host our dns at their datacenter in usa. So i will have a configuration like this: Webserver >> location: Spain Mail Server >> location: USA DNS Server >> location: USA note: 99% of my website visitors came from Spain So my question is: Does it matters in terms of speed/performance having my dns server located in usa? So in a simple way, will my website will it be fast with the dns located in spain, or having it in usa is exactly the same in terms of speed/performance?

Does IP Address Location = Server Location
I have a VPS and when I signed up I was told by the provider that the server was based in a UK datacentre. However, I've just done a search on the IP address for my VPS and it comes up as 'The IP address is assigned to France'. Does this mean the server's actually located in France?

Downloading Using Browser On Linux
I'm trying to download this 1 GB file on my Linux server CentOS. But its requiring me to enter a Captcha image which doesn't show up using Elinks or Lynx the two browser I tried. Wget was my first thing that I tried but that wouldnt work since its impossible to enter the captcha using wget command. So I need some help how should I download this to my server I'm on Slow DSL connection and it would take weeks to download 1 GB using my desktop and then reuploading it again to server using FTP.

Dedicated Hosting For A Browser Game
i run a browser based game in (php/mysql/javascript) and i currently have noticing with the growing numbers of players that my shared hosting is not going to handle the load, obviously. i am not sure if this is the right place to ask but are there any hosting companies out there willing to negotiate a deal where they provide hosting for such a thing in return of advertising? we havent even began to advertise the game and expand it, it will reach thousands of players easely... we would need atleast 2 highend boxes to split up the database from the webserver.

Blocking A Country Using Browser Language
I got a list of IPs from the country i want to block from blockacountry.com and i added them to my .htaccess as I have no access to PF or IP tables firewall. I am concerned about the server load if I get too many requests from that country to access the webpage, I have been told of a better solution, blocking someone based on the browser language they use, for example for China that is "zh-CN" but I don't know how to implement this and I have not been able to find it through Google, help with this appreciated. Second thing, anyone knows what happens when someone attempts to access a webpage from a blocked IP? Do they get a "Page not found" or "your IP is blacklisted" message? If I block by browser language it would be good if the blocking message does not tell the user about this (Notice that I am aware that blocking by browser language is not a perfect solution).

That SSL Invalid Error Shown In A Browser
This is the error i'm getting after i installed my cert. i did the installation in plesk 9 and it asked for three files: 1. private key 2. certificate 3. CA bundle for the CA bundle i used the: intermediary_certificate1.cst, intermediary_certificate2.cst, & root_certificate.cst files and in that order. New VPS, Files In Httpdocs Inaccessible Via Browser
My client was rather forcibly moved to a VPS by their host (long story, involving inadequate PHP memory allocations). I've run sites on MediaTemple's VPS's without any issues. This one, via Network Solutions (not my pick) is driving me nuts. It uses Plesk and Virtuozzo, and is, I believe, running Redhat. I am able to FTP files into httpdocs, but when I try to pull them up via browser, I get 404's. Additionally, the default landing page persists, even though I deleted their index.html. I can SSH with root, but have thus far not been able to find my way to httpdocs via command line. Updated: scratch that. Found it. Files are there... I am accessing solely via IP, as I do not want to redirect the domain until the new site is up and running. Any thoughts on where I need to be looking for a solution? I'm not really a server person, though this is the first time I've encountered so much trouble. I do not foresee NS support being much help, per prior (recent) experience.

Hot Link Prevention And Browser Security
I recently initiated "Hot Link Prevention" on one of my web sites on my Dedicated server (via CPanel). It woks well in re-directing hotlinked images to a small image that says "Unauthorized Hotlink Image." This of course prevents other web sites from leaching my bandwidth. However, I have had a number of people complain that when they visit my forum, they don't get my site's images, but instead see the Unauthorized Hotlink Image. The common thread seems to be the people with the problem are using Security Software. In one case, a guy is using Norton Confidential. Another guy is using some Security software provided by his ISP. I'm guessing that this security software is somehow messing with the Referer in tehir browser and confusing my server into thinking the images are being hotlinked from some other site. Short of turning off Hot Link Prevention, does anyone have any suggestions to tell the folks...are there settings in their Security Software for example that will prevent the problem when they visit my site?

Browser Timing Out/ftp Issues Asia Pacific/Australia/Oceania To US
I have a VPS located in LA, USA. For over a week now I have had the following network issues: - browser timing out (for me and visitors to my site) - ftp connection issues The server load is low so it's not server related. Traceroute TO the server appears fine. Traceroute FROM the server to users IP's appears to have issues over the SingTel/Optus network. My webhost says it's an issue for SingTel/Optus. SingTel/Optus Engineer say: "Our testings point to a problem either within Cogent's network or on a peering link between Cogent and Singtel in LA. I'd suggest that the owner of the domain (me!) approach his hosting provider and have them escalate to Cogent. We can't escalate to Cogent as we have no peering with them." So I've been the meat in the sandwich for over a week with no sign of a fix. My options appear to be to either move the VPS away from the webhost and host it locally (Australia) or to somehow wait for someone to step up and take responsiblity and get this resolved. My heart says wait as it's not *my* responsibility but it's costing me financially and professionally. Anyone else experiencing similiar/same issues from the Asia Pacific region to the US?

Been browsing the site and would value your opinions. Addon domains are supplied by some webhosts and not others, one of the hosts who does not supply any addon domains puts across a good argument that they can overload a server if they get out of control. How do others apparently manage these with no problems?

Addon Domains And Subdomains
I have a main domain "main.com" and when I make a new addon domain "new.com", it creates a new DNS Zone for "new.com" but also adds a subdomain DNS entry to main.com "new.main.com". I know that is very typical way that cpanel works, and I know there are ways to work around this by using .htaccess. What I am trying to discover is if removing the "new" subdomain DNS entry under main.com could cause any problems. Are there side effects? Will this break anything within my VPS?

CP Addon Scripts Not Working.
The scripts in the scripts library in Cpanel are not working for one client. I just installed a few add on scripts and when the client clicks on the link to install any of them the forms to fill in the details and install are not showing. CPanel Addon Domains
I am not a reseller, but I currently use a reseller account to manage several separate sites of mine. I know that it is possible under a standard cPanel account to have addon domains, where the html files go in a subfolder of the main domain. If you do this: - is it possible for people to access the addon site files using www.maindomain/addondomain, and if so can you stop this? - do you still get separate email addresses and spamassassin settings for the addon domain? - do you get separate web server logs for each domain, for stats? - is there any other reason why it might still be better to pay more for a reseller account so that each site can be managed completely separately?

Directory Structure And Addon Domains
I have a shared hosting account. VPS or dedicated is not an option. I use CPanel. For example, www .maindomain. com is the primary domain associated with the hosing account. When adding subdomains or addon domains, a new directory is created in the public_html directory of my hosting account. These new directories hold all the files for the sub domains and addon domains. My problem is that the directory that holds the subdomain or addon domain CAN BE accessed from: [url] or www .maindomain. com/addon_domain_directory/ thus, www .addon_domain. com can be accessed from it's own URL as well as www .maindomain. com/addon_domain_directory/ Is there a solution that DOES NOT allow this to happen? If my main domain could have it's own directory under public_html, that would be great, but I do not know if this is possible. WHM PHP Addon Script
i created a script for WHM, and i set it up. It in PHP, it works fine from the admin interface. But when i logon to that addon through a clients interface, it doesn't read the PHP... it just displays the code as if it were a txt file... So i was just wondering is there a way around this? or like PHP is just not meant to be used as for an WHM addon from both admin and client interface?

Addon Domains Moving To Parked
I have a reseller account in WHM and CPANEL. With that I have a range of sites under it created in Cpanel under addon domains. Everything works fine, then suddenly everything goes down, and all leads to the main site. Reason is, it shows all the domains in Cpanel as parked! Even removing them from there or WHM causes it to dissappear from the addon section and not show up online. Now it happened months ago where httpd.conf file had to be edited manually. And it just happened about 30hrs ago. Does anyone know why this would happen? I have asked my datacentre 3 times, with no clear answer about it, except it just does. How can it be prevented in future? Also asked my datacentre this with no answer. Will be putting up a review of them soon, and it will be the complete opposite of what I thought of them before.

I mean create addon domains inside the same directory like cpanel do with H-Sphere? So you can access the site in both URLS like sub section of your main site and same as its own domain. MainBigSite.com/MusicSite MusicSite.com So you can show like MusicSite.com also a part of MainBigSite when user go through MainBigsite.com direct users from google can go with MusicSite.com Using that MainBigSite.com will get lot of pages indexed in google coz its hwoing URLs of MusicSite.com too. Addon & Subdomain On CPANEL
I got many complaints from our customer that are using addon domain facilites. They cannot add mail account, see site stats, etc. I checked on /var/cpanel/users, there's no domain for addon domain they have but DNS zone is still there. When I log in to their CPANEL, addon domain was still there too. Anyone have the same issues? We have this problem raised since about 2 weeks ago on 4 of our servers.

How2 Monitor "phone Home" From Browser
I use WAMP on my XP desktop to test Joomla! add-ons and scripts; as well as other php scripts before I upload to the WWW and go live. I currently use KIS. Anyway, I installed a trial addon to J! that required a 'key' from the developer and thought that KIS would alert me to the outgoing connection that the add-on was making to verify the key; but it didn't/can't. I've considered VMWare and Returnil, but am not sure how a VM works so that I would be alerted to outgoing connections from a script. Just to clarify - I realize many apps have license bots that phone home to verify its a legal copy. I'm not trying to circumvent that. It just that with over 4K of extensions available for J!, I'd like to be certain that once installed, the extension is not reading the member list, etc. and sending that info to who knows where. For example, I paid a small fee for a neat WHOIS script that, come to find out, connects to the developers site every time a query is run. Not saying that he's "tasting" the lookups but, I wished I'd known that before I uploaded it to my site. I've posted this question to the KIS Forum and have been told it's not possible to configure KIS to operate this way. I found [url]butI'm not sure this is going to do what I need.

Co Location.
what does it mean? right now i am under the impression, i can buy a server from dell or so for say $1200 - $3000, and then pay like 20 - 50 to have them placed at a datacenter with a dedicated internet line and all that? if that is true, can i take my equipment at home (making sure there the right size box, obviously im guessing , dc's do not take full towers to be placed), and send them out? I am thinking that this way, I can load linux, or whatever OS on it, install whatever extensions I need, do whatever, and have a dedicated server to my self for less then 50$ /month. What happens when it fails? do they send it back to you? i would like that, since I can recover my files and stuff. People dont do this because: 1) parts are not warrantied 2) its too costly and time consuming to load them with control panels and security software/hardware.

What I need to know about is, how does all of the fees work, and what does some of this stuff means? - 1u vs. Full rack vs. cabinet vs. tower - BGP network - what is Bandwidth billed on port speed or on 95th percentile. - Tier 1 and Tier 2, and the Level 3 label - Amp Needed - Installation (Is this the process of connecting the server with wires and power, or is this also software installation?) - What other costs are there?
