Priority of Service = 100
Weight of Service = 1
but these values are not available in the dropdownlist. attached are the screenshots.
Windows 2003 Server Service Accounts
Jan 16, 2007I have a windows 2003 enterprise (180 day demo) server.
I'm using it to host game servers (and i lighthttpd webserver).
I'm using Deerpark Visnetic Firewall (no hardware router), NOD32, Spybot S&D, a keylogger and Process Guardian.
I want maximum security.
I've already done some registry hacks to prevent some DDOS attacks and ive read about running services under another account, i've created the account and added access for it to run all the system services (via GPO). My problem is that when the computer is rebooted, none of the services start, even though i put the username, password and gave the account full control of the service.
Aside from this, any other tips on maximizing security?
Im also using WinSSH to secure remote desktop and FTP.

What could be the problem??I've done many trouble shooting steps but no luck.I changed the Relay settings.Since I am in a LAN connection, i've tested the relay setting using both the 'localhost'and 'MyDomainIP'but everything in vain.

Feb 21, 2007How do I lock down my Windows 2003 server so NO ONE can terminal service in UNLESS they are connected through the PRIVATE network? The server is hosted with Softlayer which allows a private network.
Basically, I want to connect to the SL private network and then terminal service in to get in.
When I connect to the private network, my primary IP/network is STILL my ISP's network. If I goto ipchicken.com, I see my ISP's ip.
However, if I do an ipconfig listing, I see the SL private network ip listed as well (it's just not primary). Hopefully, that won't restrict me from terminal servcing in when I lock down the server.

Apache :: Unable To Start As Service - Windows 8
Jan 6, 2013Installed Apache Server 2.4.3 (no PHP, etc.) and it was working beautifully for a week or so. Yesterday, I restarted my laptop (nothing changed... no updates that install automatically, etc.) and now Apache won't start. Here are some things I've found out on my quest on figuring out what's wrong:
1. Apache Error Log:

2. Nothing else is using port 80 (or 443, for that matter).
3. Apache will start and stay running if I run httpd.exe from the DOS prompt or double-click it from within Windows just fine.
4. Will not run when launched from within the Services or Apache Service Monitor app.
5. Windows Event Error displays the following error:

6. I've tried fixing/reinstalling the C+ redistribution files about 3 times now, to no avail (thinking the error in the event file was caused by a bad/corrupt MSVCR100.DLL).
7. The exception code in the event error is:
0xc0000417 = STATUS_INVALID_CRUNTIME_PARAMETER =
An invalid parameter was passed to a C runtime function. (But again, reloading the files didn't solve anything).
8. I have tried removing Apache completely, reloading with default settings, etc. and still having the same issue.
9. Out of desperation, I even tried a registry cleaner (CCClean) and CHKDSK on the drive. Both of those didn't fix anything.
This is it... not sure what else to do/try. Again, everything was fine one moment, and it all stopped working after rebooting my system. I've wasted hours into this issue, and have come up empty handed. I'm beyond frustrated at the moment.

When Is A Service/server Down
Nov 3, 2008Just had a support chat with my host - the shared server I am on has been very unreliable IMO since I started with them and Im an unhappy bunny. About an hour ago my webmonitor text me to say server down - my monitor does a ping and a content check.
As things now stand the server is pingable but cannot be accessed via http, https, email or FTP so, in my eyes, that makes it down. According to the host as it is pingable it is not down - my argument is I dont connect via ping and nor do my customers so it is down.
Over the last few days WHM service status on the box has shown CPU usage regularly peaking (it sometimes gets to 20.0 on 2 CPU that I have saw) so I do accept that is probably whats causing the issue BUT as I cant access websites is this downtime regardless of the server being pingable?
Also should "good" hosts be monitoring things like CPU usage to be able to proactively manage issues like this or is just checking ping the accepted norm?
Really just interested in peoples opinions BTW, this is just one of a number of instances of downtime and not all of them have been caused by CPU usage etc and I cant be arsed trying to claim money back from them etc so this is not why Im asking - I will just move host to someone more reliable, this is just to satisfy my curiosity.....
Domain Name Server (DNS)service?

I'd prefer to pay for a host-independent DNS so they'll never need to touch their DNS again. Is such a thing available?

Dec 28, 2008So I have a website that requires a service be installed on the server (Wowza media server). I'm just not sure what I need to be able to do this. The service will get little use overall, but it is required.
From what I can tell this means I need some form of dedicated server, but that is an awfully large jump in cost when I get minimal use out of the service. That said, if it is the only option I will go for it.
So my question is, are there any options aside from dedicated servers that would let me install a service? If not, how cheap do you think I could get a dedicated server for?
A VPS Service That Updates The Server Themselves
Nov 12, 2007Basically I do all my updating now. I have a VPS with...*GASP*...godaddy and their policy is you do all the updating to your server yourself. They will not help you in any way unless you pay their "extra special services team" 80 bucks an hour.
Now, I'm not that much of a server genius, I can find my way around and do certain updates. I'm just tired of doing it and also have a huge fear that I'll screw something up.
Is there a company that will do a full switchover from godaddy to their service, does all the updates and installs programs for a small fee for you? I also need one that is comparable in price. I'm paying 52 bucks a month now.
