I have a problem with my webhosting provider. I have an account on startlogic and because one of my domain has a large trafic they suspend my account. I talk with the tech support 3 times a day but i get only promices. More then that they don`t want to give me an archive for my files. I don`t know what to do and what, it past 4 days now and still nothing.
I guess you can fugure my account expired with servage. but to tell you the truth, I am so P OFF at them
I opened a ticket on my last day and asked if I can move it from 14 months (that I started with) to a 6 months renewal because I could'nt afford to pay the £74 they wanted, and apologised for this. They said I'd have to pay the 74 pounds first and then change my billing to 3 or 6 months.....
I replied saying can I then pay a sum now and a some next week. as I don't have that with me at the moment but wednesday 9th April I wil be able to remew it all
They replied with:
"Hello Ahmed there is 14 days grace period for customers before account gets suspended."
So I thanked them very much, because like that, instead of paying in installments, I can just pay them the whole amount before the grace period was over, otherwise I would've backed up my data and moved it another server, or on my computer till I remew the whole amount....
5 days later (today), I log on to my account, and it has been suspended as I hav'nt paid for 5 days...thats 9 days before the "grace period"
and now all my domains have this dirty suspended page that they have, and I bet I lost half my members and customers like this, as when I see this page on any domain I enter I never go back to it!
I say to my self its my falt, I should've paid when I had to.....but money was tight, and I told them....and they gave me the 14 days, I did'nt ask for anything, but I thought backing up all my sites and my webdriver that I have with them would take me ages, plus the pages have alot of content that would be a hassle, if I have a "14 days grace period".
This is the first time servage have lied to my face, and not by answering a question with yes or no, by saying a feature they have that does'nt exist and but wednesday I bet all my customers and members would've found somewhere else to hang out, as I only contacted them through the mail server on the site and my forum, now I can't even right "we will be back soon....don't go away",
I thought I warn you guys about this grace, if you have an account with them make sure your ready to renew before it expires, and don't believe most of the stuff that they say.
OMG, I used to promote for these people, and tried hard to always say good stuff about them, you see my sig, it was a promotion for them with a coupon code (that I dredfully apologies about to the administration for not reading the rules properly), and I get in return a lie straight in my face with no warning and no way of accessing my database what so ever. Just be warned Guys, don't believe everything they say to you and backup all the time because you never know why they suspend your account.....even if your on thew right track
My StartLogic account has been terminated by their "Legal Team" saying that I am violating their TOS. Actually, They've terminated it because I've been using too many resources lately, and they don't have the courage to tell me that their unlimited plan are limited.
Anyway the account is now terminated/suspended/inaccessible and I'm now in progress of moving to a VPS.
I'm contacting them now for several days to download just one database, and then let the account go! But they are not responding No emails received, and when I contact their Live Support chat they have only one one thing to say "I have updated the ticket, one of our specialist will contact you soon." Come on What ticket are you talking about? The account has been already terminated, I want to download a database so I can move my website, I don't want any file as they said we can't backup your files because they violate our TOS, it's Okay, I would like to download a DB, they're just ignoring me
This is my first time with shared hosting and I went with hostgator because they are well known. Well, my site is getting decent traffic but well within my disk space and data transfer allotment, and I get this email saying my site has been suspended and my site is inaccessible.
Dear customer,
Due to an excessive amount of Apache requests on our gatorXXX server we have been forced to suspend the directory /home/username/public_html/sitename at this time as all other users on the server are experiencing issues due to this :
...http requests list...
Please let us know when you're ready to investigate and address this issue so we can work with you further. Thanks.
Sincerely, Ford Merrill Systems Administrator Supervisor HostGator.com LLC
Is this what most shared hosts do? Just suspend your account once your site starts getting traffic?
STARTLOGIC.COM is the worst web host I have ever come across. They will lose your website's statistics and tell you they are fine...
This has happened about a dozen times in less than 8 months. Want to see and analyze the traffic to your website? You will not be able to do it with STARTLOGIC.COM!
Also, about twice a week STARTLOGIC will tell you they are having trouble with their e-mail, and your site's email has most likely been effected. I.E. NOT EVEN EMAIL WORKS WITH STARTLOGIC!
I have now been with startlogic for a year now and i have NO complaints. They were perfect, i never had down time and if i ever had a problem it was fixed with in a hour.
I am sad to say that i have to leave them now because i am moving up to a vps and theres are all sold out.
I have posted before a topic regarding the same issue that Startlogic and her partner/sisters ' Ipower,Ipowerweb and dot5hosting' are very very bad that you should wait 30 days to get ticket resolved but today i found a great website created against startlogic with about 30 bad reviews against it and proofs [url] ....
So I know that I should have done my homework, but I didn’t which is my fault… I guess, but lesson learned, and yes, you get what you pay for. (at least I did)
Here is my experience with StartLogic;
My buddies and I were locking for a hosting company for an online game redirect, in addition of running a php forum, nothing crazy. After doing a quick search we came across with Starlogic, which seemed to meet all the requirements and signed up with them. The redirect worked great, where we ran into problems was the php forum, intermittent “Error 500” (fun). It was brutal, about every 2-3 clicks it would crap out, and sometimes I was able to load the forum, sometimes I wasn’t.
So I contacted them through their online chat program…about 2 hours later “Carl” came online, they really need a visual queue; I explained the situation to him, he gave me the normal spill of if I could hold for 2-3 minutes while he is researching it. I said “no”, since I was still pissed about waiting for 2 hours, I still don’t know if I was put on hold on not….anyhow he came back about 5 minutes later and said that CLI wasn’t installed correctly but that it had been corrected and it should be fine in 15 minutes. I had all hopes that this would be corrected, but no. So the next day I contacted them again through chat, this time I got Deana, she told me that she is escalating this error to her supervisor with a 24-48 hour turn around time. The next morning I found an email in my inbox stating that they were able to hit the site and closed the ticket. I guess they didn’t understand the word “intermittent” and yes, errors continued to happen throughout the forum, always “Error 500”, with the same “error log” (which I think are there just for show, because they sure as hell don’t check them). So I re-opened the ticket and tried to explain to them that it’s an intermittent issue, I too can hit the site. (btw, I got the same errors using their install of the php forum, so no issue in script). 48 hours later, I got an email, this time with a nice screenshot of my forum stating that they can hit the forum from their end and the ticket was closed again. Guess what, same issue, intermittent “Error 500”, same error logs.(Remember, errors came up every 2-3 clicks, they could have clicked on FAQ and error would have come up) I went back and re-opened the ticket again, this time I copied the error logs into the ticket, and I asked them what about intermittent they don’t get? I also said that I will fix the issue myself my switching host if they close the ticket again without testing this.
I didn’t hear back from them in a couple of days so I called them to cancel (within 30 days). After 2 hours of waiting I got a hold of billing, as soon as I said I want to cancel service, click. That b*** hung up on me. I called right back and got an automated message stating that their line was closed. HUH???(wonder why?!?) I happen work in the telecom business and that usually means a high trunk load. I waited 1.5 hours and this time I was able cancel service. When I came home that night, I got an email saying that they found the issue and fixed it (I guess the logs helped?) and she was right…everything worked, no more errors, the forum ran flawless. I talked it over with my friends and we decided since Deana came through for us, this time, we’ll cancel the cancellation. So back on the phone I went, after about 1.75 hours I got a hold of Maria, I explained to her to that I want to reverse my cancellation, after about 2-3 minutes of research she came back and said no problem, the cancellation has been reversed. I also did some small talk with her and when I asked her if she was busy (yeah I know) she said something about hell, this should have been some kind of indication, because you guessed it, the next morning my account was cancelled, and the biggest insult was that in the email they has this line “Please note, your files may be available to be reactivated for up to 7 days” Isn’t what I did last night for two hours?
Oh well, the good news about this whole experience is that I am not with Startlogic anymore and am currently doing my RESEARCH, prior getting my host. I just wanted to share my experience about Startlogic, for anyone RESEACHING hosts.
I recently used these forums to help narrow my search for a reliable, competent host. I choose to avoid the larger hosts that sells unlimited or large amounts of disk space and bandwidth. I went with a smaller host that sells a 1GB disk space and 10GB bandwidth package that is reasonably priced. Keep in mind that my site is new and will likely only be visited by friends and family. I feel this package is appropriate for my needs.
Should I be concerned about a host that will suspend my site if I reach my limit? As a customer I would rather be notified to upgrade my account instead of having my site suspended. This practice of automatically suspending sites may very well be the normal procedure for most hosts thus the reason for my post today. Please share your opinions on this topic.
i have cpanel and when i suspend anysite i got Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage i suppose to see the suspend page but i can't see it and i want to know what's worng here
I am an administrator of ialumno.com a spanish NGO to promote the use of Tablet PCs in education.
Yesterday I received an email from one of the guys in Vistapages telling me that they are going to suspend my account because my Joomla software is too heavy to be hosted. And say that I must upgrade to an 49 dollar account, way out of our little budget.
I am not happy of that. I have no intention to drag down other users websites. I do not know what legal options do I have. Because they can´t just suspend you on no basis and on no aid from their admins. please tell me what I have to do. I just need some aid or I´ll think this as a way to force us pay more money.
I purchased a second VPS with cheapvps.co.uk for £31.73 (including managed service). I bought the 2nd vps, because my first one crashed for some reason.
After 7 days of misconfigured 2 vps systems I asked for a complete and full working VPS or a refund and they suspend me on all 2 systems without getting a refund.
That is not nice.
Edit: I got a refund, today but only 11.73 of 31.73, because DirectAdmin will be cost now $20 instead of $10, if it is an refund issue.
One really bad part of the TOS, if you want to get a refund (Note, that they it will cost you only 5 pounds, while purchase a VPS, but they double the pricing, if you ask for a refund!):
The 7 day money back is offered on all managed and semi-managed VPS accounts. The money back does not cover unmanaged VPS. Control panel fees will not be refunded. cPanel and DirectAdmin are valued at $20/mo with a $20 setup. RVSkins and Fantastico are counted as control panels and have an associated cost of $2 each should they be active on your account.
I have Linux and Windows server with Plesk 8.6 as the control panel and now the issue is that there is no option to auto suspend the accounts which are using over the quota(Diskspace or Traffic). All I have to manually check the accounts and to suspend, which I think not good. Is there any option to get the accounts auto suspended once they reached the limits. In the Notifications area, sending mails to clients regarding the quota, but no option to suspend the accounts.
i see alot hosting have a good trick which is auto suspend site over the normal load of 5% .... so what is this script that suspend site for period time and unsuspend it automaticly
Under a Reseller's resources there are 3 options for Overuse:
1) Overuse is not allowed
2) Overuse of disk space and traffic is allowed
3) Overuse is allowed (not recommended)
All 3 apply to a Reseller's subscription.
Firstly, why should we care on the policy the reseller adopts for its subscriptions? It's nothing to do with us. The Overuse option for Resellers should aply to the Reseller account. But it doesn't. We have overusing resellers that are not getting suspended when the stats run like on Plesk 9.
i'm asking about the script which install in linux servers and automatic suspend sites which over it's limit resources in ram and cpu , like used in big hosting company ....
I need to get a list of suspend domains from mysql. The domains are suspend because they exceeded quota. So far I have done this query:
#############
select domains.id, domains.name as domena, Round(((sum(domains.real_size))/1048576),2) realMB,
(select Round((limits.value/1048576),2) from limits left join (domains, subscriptions, subscriptionproperties) on (domains.id=subscriptions.object_id and subscriptions.id=subscriptionproperties.subscription_id and subscriptionproperties.value=limits.id) where subscriptionproperties.name='limitsId' and limits.limit_name='disk_space' and domains.name=domena) quotaMB from domains where domains.status='2' and (select (sum(domains.real_size)))>0 group by domains.cl_id;
but I didnt managed to get only those that exceed the quota.
