I have a windows server with plesk 7.6 i want to install the new version of plesk 8.6, how can I do? I want my domain names (4) be working well with the new version of plesk. I don't know if I backup my domains, plesk 8.6 will recognize from 7.6.
the main reason I want plesk 8.6 is because i want to use the latest version of php and also i want to install wordpress and I think the new plesk will be working fine with these programas
do you have any ideas how can I keep my domain working after I install new plesk?
I have Plesk 11.5 (service provider mode) on a Windows 2008 server IIS7.Most of my sites are developed in .asp and therefore i use a custom 500-100.asp error page that check s the IP of the visitor then displays either a friendly error, or if its my IP a full error of what has happened (it also emails me the error). This allows me to debug pages easily whilst developing and to keep an eye on anyone trying SQL Injection hacks on my sites (as the error and email also have session variables and IP address).I dont have root access to the server as it is a Webfusion dedicated server.I have following the Plesk documentation -
1) Switch on custom errors for the subscription 2) Look in virtual directories and navigate to error documents 3) Find the error in question (500:100) and change it to point at either a file or URL
FILE - I had the data centre add in the 500-100.asp error page in to the virtual template so that my page is available in the list of virtual files - this didn't work but that maybe because its not a static page??
URL - when i add the path it says its incorrect, if i add a fully qualified address, it accepts it but it doesn't work.give me a specific example of the URL that can be entered relative to the root as the format in the documentation isn't accepted. The last step is to restart IIS which is also an issue as i cant seem to do this from the Plesk panel..It is as if it isn't catching the 500:100 error, and only catching the general 500 error??
We are about to shift from linux server to plesk for some reasons given by our management.
I am interested to know that Plesk 8.X or 9.X comes with MS SQL edition in built? or we have to install that separately? This is for a hosting server so the server should have both MY SQL and MS SQL both, how to shift this in plesk, is it possible?
Also if we install plesk will it come with tomcat server? or not? some hosting clients need Java with tomcat?
I have been using MailEnable standard (free) edition for a few months and faced problems of such as mail server crashing every few days, users being disconnected while downloading mail via POP3 etc.
I'm serving not more than 20 sites and only a few of them user mail server frequently
a better mail server to use with Plesk on Windows.
My Plesk 11.5 server will not connect to my SQL 2008 server. It runs on a Windows 2008 server. I have turned the Windows firewall off. The servers are on the same IP subnet. I can ping the SQL server by name and address, remotely Login successfully using SQL management studio, and map a share to a drive.
The SQL server is in Mixed Mode. I can telnet to port 1433 and login. The SQL server has TCP/IP enabled. Connections made by web sites - mostly ASP driven - connect normally. The Plesk console fails to connect with the following error -
Error: Test connection to the database server has failed because of network problems:
Get database server version failed: Login failed for user '????'.
I created a User Account with the Administrator Role for one of my colleagues & the User Role Properties indicate that access to all of the Plesk services has been granted.
However, when my colleague logs in, he's unable to see the Server tab (see attached screen shot).
Where do I configure the permissions so that he can see the Server tab?
I have set up a Plesk Windows server behind a CISCO PIX 501 firewall and since then am not able to upgrade Plesk to the latest version. It cannot connect to the Plesk Update server. which port do I need to open and whether it will be inbound or outbound?
I would like to setup a new dedicated server with the following:
- Windows Server Standard 2008 64bit Edition
- Plesk control panel
Questions:
Anyone know of a thorough tutorial on securing/optimizing a Windows 2008 server (even with Plesk) for a shared hosting environment?
Other?'s:
Considering Plesk's rip-off pricing, any free and quality alternatives to their products?
- plesk dr.web antivirus
- acronis trueimage backup
- plesk powerpack (I guess $24.99/mo lease isn't too horrible)
I basically want to replicate a Cpanel shared/reseller hosting environment, but with Plesk since Cpanel for Windows is not yet available and been delayed forever.
I have a dedicated server and I am about to get a few high traffic sites that will be Joomla based and MySQL served. What I am thinking a about is to create another MySQL instance, leave the current websites on the "old" instance and get the new ones onto a separate instance.
I am on PPP 11.0.9 on windows and the current mysql version is 5.1.56 on port 3306 (I can get other ports for other instances).
What I did was the following:
In the Database Servers page, I hit "Add Database Server"
In the next page I add the following: MySQL (from the dropdown) localhost 3307 (leave blank the default check box)
I then add the Administrator's username and passwords and hit OK.
The next page, reports an error message (in between asterisks below): ************************ Error: Test connection to the database server has failed because of network problems:
No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it. ************************ The primary (eg. current) mysql instance is working fine, it's just I cannot add a second server...
I had some question about the migration tool : My task is to migrate a domain from a server with plesk 9 version to another server with plesk 12 version.
1. Does the migration includes the ftp accounts contained in the domain ? 2. During the migration can users from the plesk 9 server still connect to the ftp server and continue working on it ?
When i add a new domain to plesk, it puts in the correct Name servers in, but it also adds the computers name into the list and when getting it checked out from intodns.com it flags it saying missing Name Servers.
Into DNS : [URL] ....
I have also attached a screenshot showing what DNS Manager is showing.
PRODUCT, VERSION, VERSION OF MICROUPDATE, OPERATING SYSTEM, ARCHITECTURE Plesk 11.0.9, Windows Server 2012
PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: I have an application that uses customer prefixes ex. user1.domain.com, user2.domain.com. The application exists in one plesk subscription (with exclusive IP), the sales site (www) exists on another subscription on the same server (different IP - shared). On a previous version of plesk (9.5 I believe) I was able to easily point the www prefix to another subscription/domain on the same server. In Plesk 11 it won't let me do that ... when I try to create a "www" alias for the intended subscription I get the error message "Error: Wrong prefix for domain alias".
EXPECTED RESULT: Some option to allow me to point the www prefix to another subscription on same server.
For the application's subscription, the DNS is hosted within plesk, for the intended www subscription the DNS is hosted at godaddy. I don't think any of that makes a difference but mentioned anyways.
I guess the Plesk 12 is the best version of plesk for windows since i work with plesk on version 8.
But the backup task still has a problem, now i can't backup my server using backup manager. If i create a manual task to create backup after few hours the server and plesk just get to slow to use. Only when i remove task i can use back server.
When Parallels create a backup task who's really work ?
How can i backup all my accounts of server in case of crash?
My site is showing 500 internal server error. I use classic ASP. How to enable custom error on the server? I use Plesk 11. With Plesk 9.5, it will automatically show up on the server.
PRODUCT, VERSION, VERSION OF MICROUPDATE, OPERATING SYSTEM, ARCHITECTURE Windows Web Server 2008 SP2 + Plesk 11.0 x86
PROBLEM DESCRIPTION I've created an self-signing SSL-Certificate an set it up to my server-ip. Then, I got kicked from the server and now, on every site hosted on the server, even the Plesk Panel(https://xxxxxx:8443 is not reacheable. Server-Timeout.
One of the pages is this one: [URL] ....
STEPS TO REPRODUCE Created self-signing Certificate, only filled in my full Name, Country and Domain. Got kicked from the server, and now I have no possibility to access my server.
ACTUAL RESULT Nothing. Got File Access with a recovery system, but this isn't really working.
EXPECTED RESULT A working Plesk Panel would be nice.
I have a Windows/Plesk installation (Windows DNS), what is the best way to make a slave DNS server?I have two more servers without Plesk, windows and linux, one of then could be my slave server, how to accomplish that?
I have installed Plesk Panel in a Windows 2008 R2 server but i need to use an EmailEnable Sever installed on another Windows 2008 R2 Server. Is it possible to manage that?
My new plesk 12 windows server was not showing the application vault (even after login as admin user). Hence I have changed the entry enabled = on in the file
C:Program Files (x86)ParallelsPleskadminconfpanel panel.ini as per [URL] ..... Now the application vault is showing well.
My question is, whether this is a new procedure change for Plesk 11/12? I believe, I used to see application vault enabled as default in all my other old servers.
I just configured the plesk server to only allow ftps connections.
When I try to access with a ftp account on the server itself it works well, however when I try to access it from a client PC it get these errors :
(...) Response: 200 Type set to I. Command: PASV Response: 227 Entering Passive Mode (XXX,XXX,XX,XX,XXX,XX). Command: LIST Response: 150 Opening BINARY mode data connection. Error: The data connection could not be established: ECONNREFUSED - Connection refused by server
On the client PC I configured Filezilla in Passive mode with "Require explicit FTP over TLS".
Normally for the firewall only the port 21 is needed or am I wrong (with explicit FTP and passif configured)?
I have a freshly installed 'Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1' VPS with Plesk 11.5.30.When installing certain applications (for example, Dolphin, Elgg), it halts with the following error message: Requirements: Apache module - The app requires the 'rewrite' web server module
When I check in Windows IIS Manager under Modules, I see RewriteModule is installed as a native module. When checking the KB about this issue: URL..it says to enable the rewrite module by ticking it in the 'Configure native modules' box. However, that module is not even listed there, even though it clearly is listed in the main module overview as a native module.
Also, in Plesk > Tools & Settings > Server Management > Panel Components, URL rewrite is also listed: URL Rewrite [Active] IIS URL Rewrite Module 2 7.2.2
OS: Windows Server 2012 Standard (x64) Plesk: v11 SmarterMail: v10, v9
Plesk does not read any IP addresses from the server. I can't get past the first webspace setup page that requires a Website IP as the only thing in the list is "None".
The PR Reconfigurator tool doesn't list any IPs in the top section, yet it does list all the server IPs in the bottom right section.
I've tried re-installing Plesking, Repairing, Re-reading IP addresses, all result in the error message below about mailmng.
Neither the latest SmarterMail v10 or v9 are working.
I'm not sure if the issue is with SmarterMail not being able to populate the IP address, or if the issue is with Plesk v11 not being able to read Server 2012's IP addresses.
C:Program Files (x86)ParallelsPleskbin>ipmanage.exe --reread mailmng failed: command --assign-ports-to-ip not supported.Click to expand...
I have a pretty new install of PPA with a Windows 2012R2 IIS Web servers. I just noticed it has Java 1.7.0 Update 25 installed which has A LOT of vulnerabilities. Can I safely upgrade this?
Suggestion: If something is installed/required by PPA it should also be kept up2date by PPA.
This kind of stuff makes me quite worried about anything installed by PPA on any of my nodes including Linux.
Do you have a team at Odin that makes sure everything is up2date and safe?
I have daily backups for all accounts setup on our Plesk 11 server and was wondering how I would go about restoring a single database from the backup manager? I could restore the entire zip file, but that would make a mess of any other databases which of course isn't optimal. I see if I download a client's zip file that within the zip_file/databases/db_name there is another zip file which contains a tmp file which for a MySQL database it looks fairly standard, for MSSQL it looks to be in their format but is this what's really necessary? Can I even use those tmp files to restore manually through the Backup Manager -> Database Backup Repository? Why isn't there a simple way for a client to restore a database with the existing backups?
I have one domain who's not create dns in MS DNS server, i try create manuall but after this the record is missing, but on plesk showing, How to fix this ?
We tried to restore the backup from source server 11.5 to destination server 12.0 , while uploading backup file to server repository & restoring it throws below error:
Internal error. The page cannot be displayed because an internal server error has occurred.
Error: Unable to upload the backup file (backup_nov23_******.com_info_1411230058.xml.zip). The file was modified, corrupted, created on another server or in an older Plesk version that does not support signing of backups. If you trust this backup, then select the "Upload backup files without valid signatures" option and repeat uploading.
Warning: The uploaded backup file (backup_nov23_**********.com_info_1411230058.xml.zip) was modified, corrupted, created on another server or in an older Plesk version that does not support signing of backups. Before restoring data from this backup file, make sure you can trust the source of this file.
We have excluded Plesk files from Antivirus as well but still we are facing the same error.
The Goal:Have Plesk Accounts on it's server be able to sync to an external SmarterMail server, rather than installing SmarterMail on that same serve (which seems to be available natively).
Not sure what the problem is but I can't preview a new website using Quick Site Preview. I have configured Tools and Settings > Website Preview Settings > Quick Preview on a domain name in Plesk by selecting the server domain name, yet despite this when I go to a new domain I setup today and click preview I get a browser windows that says "Server Not Found".
