Email Being Picked Up As Spam From Hosted Domains. Main Domain Is Ok
i have a vps and although i can send mails without problem from my main root account, sending via any of the child accounts created for customers results in their email being picked up as spam (in hotmail at least).
To clarify, mydomain.com is my main name. Email can send without problem,
customersdomain.com, hosted on the same machine, when sending emails they are picked up as spam. The mx dns entries in the zone file are set (by default to) customersdomain.com. and for all the child domains customer1domain.com. etc.
Do i need to ask the datacenter to add a reverse dns entry for mail.mydomain.com?
Is this an issue with the mx records for the hosted domains? Should i change the hosted domaims mx entry on the customers domains to mail.mydomain.com?
I know the ip isnt blacklisted because exactly the same email goes through when sending from the mydomain.com email addresses.

Lets say I have abcd.com as the main domain on cpanel. abcd.com has 10 subdomains. Basically what I want to do is when I do an addon domain or parked domain I want the subdomains to basically point to abcd.com automatically. I've been getting a lot of "Undeliverable" emails sent to my email address. On these messages, the spammer is using my email on the "From" part of the email...... So whenever he sends out spam, the person(s) getting spammed think it's from me..... And the thousands of Undeliverable email error messages are also sent to me. One of my hosted domains have an email problem, every email account that is hosted on that site, is able to send and recieve email, but when sending to gmail or hotmail, it is delivered as SPAM. I Can't Resolve Hosted Domains
I can't resolve hosted domains on ssh or via php on my server. All of other domains fine when i dig or ping but mine is not. I did run fix scripts for dns and restarted named but result is still same. Also, when i try to reach one of my domains via php's fsockopen function, i get "65 No route to host" or "68 Too many users" error.

Filtering Mail For Externally Hosted Domains
I have a VPS with cPanel/WHM where I am also running the MailScanner package as an anti-virus/anti-spam solution. I would like to extend this service to clients who are satisfied with their web and email hosting but not with their spam control solution. That is, I would like MailScanner to process their email before it reaches their server. I believe this can be done by changing the MX records of the external domains to point to the mail server on my VPS. The problem is, I don't know if I should put host.myhostname.com (my VPS hostname) or my IP address in their MX records. Also, to make MailScanner process their emails, I need to add their domains to my MailScanner configuration at etc/localdomains, but I assume that also means I have to create a mail-only account for the domain in WHM?

VPS- With Main Domain Name
I know from past experiences, a VPS is not suppose to be setup on a sub domain for the main domain name account. My VPS was setup on a sub domain which is not allowing my domain name to resolve the with the DNS server. How to fix this issue? Subdomain To Main Domain Moving
I have a domain name as per my sig. I am also creating a subdomain totally in contrast with that site below. My primary domain has one page on it so i would like to: a) delete the one page on my primary domain b) Make the contents of my subdomain my primary domain. e.g my domain is www.info-peep.com, my sub will be example.info-peep.com........i would like to make example.info-peep.com : www.info-peep.com......that make sense, as really the sub will be my main site. Basically wanting to transfer the contents of my sub to my primary. So when people click info-peep.com, it will be the sub's site. Moving Main Domain To Another Server
I have my main domain (domain.com) and it is where all my sites and customer sites are pointed to (ns1.domain.com and ns2.domain.com). I just purchased a VPS and have made (domain.com) my main domain as I want it to be because of keeping the nameservers the same for my clients. My vision is this, I will transfer all the sites from my old cPanel account to my new DirectAdmin account. I have setup a time to let my clients know not to update any content on their sites. At that time I will then download the sites from the cPanel account to the DA account. I will then move my main domain (domain.com) over as well and then change the name server registries at namecheap. I understand some things can get lost in this switch, but ALL clients are aware of this and understand. They will still have access to the old server via the IP address to check for misdirected mail. Is this the simplest way to get this done? Is there a better way, with using the main domain?

Can anyone recommend a hosted third-party spam filtering service for cPanel servers? Most of the servers are reseller based, and I don't see myself or my team having to enter each individual email address into the service. Cpanel Main Domain Not Allowing Subdomains
When trying to make a subdomain on my main cpanel domain, through cpanel, it acts like it is making it, and adds the dns entry, but it does not work. All other domains work fine. I submitted a ticket to buycpanel, they asked for the login information this morning, and have not heard back from them. This has happened every since they installed cpanel. Apache Overloading Due To Requests To My Main Domain Name Server (DNS) Name
I currently have a web VPS hosted with FDCServers.net and after 5 days of switching to it i am getting massive HTTP requests. When i login to WHM and hit apache status i have many requests per second by multiple IP's that are going to pages that simple don't exist. Currently my hostname for the server is set at web-01.optical-hosting.com which is what the requests are being sent to. I am also having a DNS issue because when i put http://web-01.optical-hosting.com in the web browser it displays the first account's site under "list accounts" in cpanel. I Picked Up A Windows VPS
I was bored last night and decided to get a VPS to mess around with. I went through 1&1 and got the VPSII account. Here are the specs: Windows Server 2003 (64 Bit) 20GB Space 1000GB Transfer 256MB Guaranteed Ram .... Virtuozzo Plesk 8.1 (30 Domains) $39.00 a month. Probably only going to host a few of my sites and several of my friends sites. I believe I have enough to more than cover the monthly fee, so it's like I have a scholarship. LOL Looking forward to learning about about the hosting business. I am currently a reseller for GoDaddy but want to eventually make the move into my own dedicated server. I have to money to do it now but thought it would be a waste while I learn the ropes.

is there any sort of ssl certificate that will 'secure' any domain, hosted on a single server? For example, I have the following domains and subdomains: google.com test.google.com mywebsite.com hello.example.com All will be hosted on the same server (same IP) and I want all to be secured, through a SIGNED certificate, not a self signed. I assumed that wildcard ssl would be fine for this, but I just took a look and it's only for subdomains: example.example.com hello.example.com. Is there any way of having every subdomain and domain secured, using ssl, through one certificate? I don't want to have to buy individual certificates for every domain, that'd be... expensive.

I'm working on the idea of an email wrapping/branding service. I'd like someone to be able to send an email to the service structuring the email address like this:[url] The part in italics is the real destination and the part in bold is the address of my server. I'll then parse the real destination out of the email, wrap it in some stuff and send it on. From what I've read I need to set up a wildcard MX record. Seperate Email Accounts When Hosting Multiple Domains
I just tried westhost. Very nice folks, good reviews, worth a shot. I signed up for a regular hosting account that allows multiple domains. That didn't work for email. An email user has access to email under that users name for all domains attached to the account. so you can't have info@abc.com, info@def.com, etc. One info@ per account. I did find a hack for it, but it wouldn't work with web mail. So now I need to find a host that separates mail by domain WITH webmail. This is getting so tiresome. I have a VPS with "the planet", but so many things just don't work out of the box. I've been fighting with them about PHP not sending mail for months. DNS problems everytime I setup a new domain. There has to be an easier way! 15 domains, everything needs to work. I don't want to manage anything. No resellers. The company I host with will own the data center.

Addon Domains Vs Separate Domain Pros/cons
I'm trying to understand more the Pro's and Con's for having an Addon Domain vs Separate domain. Here's my use for it. Site1.com holds all the files, Site2.com holds all the video and images. When it comes time to add a second server (end of this year) I could move Site2.com to a second server and nfs mount it. Thats of the site is separate. PROBLEM: separate site means permission problems, when write code ie.php you can unlink / move files without permission which means setting up special groups. Addon domain doesn't have the permission problem from what I can see, since the domain gets the group access of the Mainsite. so no extra configuration required. now the problem would be how do I get that addon domain to a second server to offload some of the resources.

Email Sent Being Marked As Spam
One of my clients is trying to send an email to someone who has barracuda spam filter on their systems. the spam filter is rejecting the email and marking the IP address as poor. The IP address that it is rejecting is not the address of the SMTP server but the PC address (Outlook client). is this normal to check the client pc IP address and not the SMTP server? The response from the spam filter includes a link to check the IP address which reports the IP address status as "poor". The problem is this IP address is a dynamic IP assigned by the clients ISP. I tried a couple of IP addresses within the same subnet and they all seem to be marked as poor. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can fix this issue?? Email Spam From My Own Server
I received many email spam recently, with the sender address from my own server. Eg. my domain = www.shashinki.com email spam that I received = shop@shashinki.com which is being sent to my own email address of shop@shashinki.com. Yes, the sender is my own email address account. I checked using gmail and the sender is from my own server IP address and the sender's email address seems to be valid and is from my own email account. I have changed the password of my email address, added SPF to my email system...etc. I have done all that I can think of, but I still get the same spam emails. What can I do and what should I do? I got really tired of this and I am worried that my server is being used to send spams to others. My server is with LayeredTech, unmanaged server, so I dont have a manager to help me. i have been receiving lot of spam emails with from and to address being the same email of my domain with content being "click here to see web page" or an image link of viagra shop seen. sometimes it is sent with title "delivery status failure" i checked the mail headers and it seems that they do not originate with contact form since i used captcha to protect them.

Email - Spam Being Sent From Nobody@'myserver
One of my servers is being used to send spam. The spam is coming from nobody@server.mydomain.com I've found one user who's account was sending spam emails by using what i found @ [url] However now i don’t seem to be able to stop the issue the same way as the log file does not contain the account being used anymore. Email Flagged As Spam
I work at a small startup. We have a database of contact information that is available on a subscription basis; people signup up and can download a limited number of contacts each month. A core part of our signup is to send an activation email to the client. The email has a link back to our site. Clicking on the link activates the account and allows the client to log in. Sometimes -- not always, but probably 20% of the time -- the client's email server will reject our activation email as spam. We see this alot with hotmail clients, and occasionally with others. We're able to reproduce the problem. It appears to be an issue of the mail headers rather than the email content. I think it's related to the way we have our internal email configured: our email is hosted at Network Solutions, but we send the activation emails from our server at LiquidWeb. The activation email specifies a 'from' address that includes the domain that NS hosts. My questions are: would this configuration cause email recipients to identify our email as spam? Short of moving our email server mgmt to our LiquidWeb server, is there anything we can do to avoid this issue from causing our email to look like spam?

So if they know my domains in /etc/mail/local-host-names, can they spam email through my server without knowing username and password? Do you think postfix is a better solution? Spam From Your Own Domain
I have been getting loads of bounced or blocked emails where someone has been using my domain as the From address. The from address looks something like this: vaahlv@mysite.com There are numerous Cc entries too. So, email gets sent, blocked as spam and the bounced email gets sent back to me. Part of the reason for this is that I have a wild card under my .virtual mail file (which I have just learnt about). How can I reduce this?

All Email From My Site Going To Spam/junk
My web development company has just launched a new website in Hong Kong. It's a brand new site, so obviously hasnt even been listed on google yet. One MAJOR problem we're facing is ALL email sent from the server is going to Spam/junk mail folders. We dont have a dedicated mail server and all mail is being sent via the web servers localhost (via a phpmailer script) The site is member driven but members cannot join the site, because their account activation emails are going to spam/junk and theyre not finding them (we do mention for people to check their spam/junk but alot of people still dont) So i am wondering if anyone has any tips how i can get the site listed as not spam. its a .hk domain name so i'm wondering if its only because im in australia that its going to spam for me? either way id like to get the problem solved quickly, so if there is any verification/testing i can do to approve the site i would appreciate to find out.

Hotmail - Email Listed As SPAM
I just got a vps and I realised that all email sent to hotmail automatically goes into the spam box (until i approve an email address as being "safe"). I believe that hotmail's senderid and a spf record is the way to go I have already submitted the senderid form saying i dont have an spf record for the "domains to be added to the senderid program", i listed a couple of my domains. 1) do i still need an spf record? 2) in the future, will i need to tell customers to use outgoing mailservers under one of the domains i submitted (in the senderid form)?

One of my clients is receiving spam from his email address. SpamAssassin is not marking it as spam. I have added an SPF record for the domain, but still gets these messages. Is there any workaround for this? I don't want to activate spambox for that. Server is cPanel + CentOS 5.2

Service To Check If An Email Is SPAM
We have a script that will be sending out emails from our server. A few already have hit the Outlook SPAM folder. The email that's sent is a validation check, where the user has to click a link to verify an account. Is there some service out there where you can send it your email and it will tell you if and then why it will be caught by leading spam filters?
