VPS- With Main Domain Name
I know from past experiences, a VPS is not suppose to be setup on a sub domain for the main domain name account. My VPS was setup on a sub domain which is not allowing my domain name to resolve the with the DNS server. How to fix this issue? I have been speaking with support all day, and we have fixed a few minor issues but my major concern is yet to be fixed and I'm still sending support tickets ( and they are working on it ) but it's been an all day afair...any sugestions from the peanut gallery?

Subdomain To Main Domain Moving
I have a domain name as per my sig. I am also creating a subdomain totally in contrast with that site below. My primary domain has one page on it so i would like to: a) delete the one page on my primary domain b) Make the contents of my subdomain my primary domain. e.g my domain is www.info-peep.com, my sub will be example.info-peep.com........i would like to make example.info-peep.com : www.info-peep.com......that make sense, as really the sub will be my main site. Basically wanting to transfer the contents of my sub to my primary. So when people click info-peep.com, it will be the sub's site. Another thing to note is that i am using RVsitebuilder (WYSIWYG) that my web host provides. Also BEAR IN MIND the WYSIWYG editor does not allow me to move pages (sucks) or to copy the page contents.

Moving Main Domain To Another Server
I have my main domain (domain.com) and it is where all my sites and customer sites are pointed to (ns1.domain.com and ns2.domain.com). I just purchased a VPS and have made (domain.com) my main domain as I want it to be because of keeping the nameservers the same for my clients. My vision is this, I will transfer all the sites from my old cPanel account to my new DirectAdmin account. I have setup a time to let my clients know not to update any content on their sites. At that time I will then download the sites from the cPanel account to the DA account. I will then move my main domain (domain.com) over as well and then change the name server registries at namecheap. I understand some things can get lost in this switch, but ALL clients are aware of this and understand. They will still have access to the old server via the IP address to check for misdirected mail. Is this the simplest way to get this done? Is there a better way, with using the main domain?

Cpanel Main Domain Not Allowing Subdomains
When trying to make a subdomain on my main cpanel domain, through cpanel, it acts like it is making it, and adds the dns entry, but it does not work. All other domains work fine. I submitted a ticket to buycpanel, they asked for the login information this morning, and have not heard back from them. This has happened every since they installed cpanel. I am hoping its something simple that one of you knowledgeable people may know how to fix.

Lets say I have abcd.com as the main domain on cpanel. abcd.com has 10 subdomains. Basically what I want to do is when I do an addon domain or parked domain I want the subdomains to basically point to abcd.com automatically. Resellers Are Not Permitted To Create Subdomains Of The Server's Main Domain
Whenever I try to create a user account I get the following error Sorry, resellers are not permitted to create subdomains of the server's main domain My server domain is www.domain.com and reseller is trying to create a user account like new.domain.com . Email Being Picked Up As Spam From Hosted Domains. Main Domain Is Ok
i have a vps and although i can send mails without problem from my main root account, sending via any of the child accounts created for customers results in their email being picked up as spam (in hotmail at least). To clarify, mydomain.com is my main name. Email can send without problem, customersdomain.com, hosted on the same machine, when sending emails they are picked up as spam. The mx dns entries in the zone file are set (by default to) customersdomain.com. and for all the child domains customer1domain.com. etc. Do i need to ask the datacenter to add a reverse dns entry for mail.mydomain.com? Is this an issue with the mx records for the hosted domains? Should i change the hosted domaims mx entry on the customers domains to mail.mydomain.com? I know the ip isnt blacklisted because exactly the same email goes through when sending from the mydomain.com email addresses.

Apache Overloading Due To Requests To My Main Domain Name Server (DNS) Name
I currently have a web VPS hosted with FDCServers.net and after 5 days of switching to it i am getting massive HTTP requests. When i login to WHM and hit apache status i have many requests per second by multiple IP's that are going to pages that simple don't exist. Currently my hostname for the server is set at web-01.optical-hosting.com which is what the requests are being sent to. I am also having a DNS issue because when i put http://web-01.optical-hosting.com in the web browser it displays the first account's site under "list accounts" in cpanel. Can someone please help me fix both of these issue's? i will post an apache log in a second post as it is long. Also, these are from overseas. please someone help me with this i have Aim and Msn.

Main Advantages Of VPS Over Shared Reseller Hosting
I know to some of you this may sound like a totally silly question. But I would like to know what the main advantages are if you have a VPS instead of a shared reseller hosting. I notice some of the basic VPS packages give you 512MB of memory. Other than that, the rest of the stats seem to be along the lines of what you might get in an advanced reseller hosting plan such as one available from Reseller Zoom. I am looking into VPS as a dedicated server is a little over my budget, however, I am not entirely clear what makes VPS better.

Reverse Domain Name Server (DNS) ARPA For Domain On VPS
I have a vps with dedicated ip's for my domain names. I read that in order for mails coming from my server not be picked up as spam, i need to add reverse ip entries. Now i have already added the glue nameserver records on my godaddy control panel, ns1.mydomain.com -> 10.20.30.40 ns2.mydomain.com -> 10.20.30.41 But do i need to speak to the datacenter to add the reverse dns entries for my domain on their nameservers? What about if i host my nameservers offsite, but then have my webserver/mailserver etc inside the datacenter? Would i need to request the datacenter where the nameservers are hosted to add the reverse ip entries for the domain, and then the request the same from the datacenter for my web/mail servers to add the reverse entries? Is it really required?

2 VPS Move To 1 New VPS = Domain Name Server (DNS) Puzzle
A chicken or egg type of problem with potential to escalate into an egg on the face problem. I have two VPS accounts with PowerVPS, which we need to move to one new VPS account. Problem is I'm not sure how to handle the DNS move or settings to minimise downtime. Currently the DNS is spread over the two VPS accounts. If I understand correctly, on the main physical server, we cannot install any firewall, so customers in VPS can open any port on their VPS. So, I am wondering about the security of the main server? What if someone can *hack* into the main server, and delete all VPS there? Is there any case like that before?

Main Site Page Display
About the 28th September the host that I was with decided to move servers and did not inform me of this. They tried moving my site and after 18 hours of being offline decided not move my site. It came back offline, only the main page displayed but nothing else works, if you click on anything it goes to 404 page error. Only problem is, the page is displaying data up to 23rd September. I have a blog and a forum connected and both seem to have lost all the data from the 23rd to 28th September. I have since moved host since the previous host not only did not inform me that they were moving, they didnt even bother taking a backup. I have been with my new host for over a week now so the propogation is definitely complete. Now the problem is whenever I open my blog, it keeps pointing to 23rd September (I have added a lot of posts since then). If I refresh the page, then it will show the latest posts. This is not a problem with the forum though, it works fine.

How To Point All Subdomains To Main Directory Using CPanel
Im using Cpanel and I would like to have all subdomains of a domain I host point to the main root directory of the site. How would I do that in cpanel? When I click on subdomains do I just put the wildcard * for the subdomain name? Also what do I do if I want to point all subdomains to the main directory except for the certain domains I specify? Moving Main Account CPanel/WHM
I have several sites under a cPanel/WHM reseller account. I want to move the biggest site under this account to another host. This site is the main site for the reseller account. LXadmin Main Server - Best Way To Get My Secondary DNS Updated
Just moved to a lxadmin based system from my current plesk system and I have a dilema Configuration Server 1: Main Web/CP/Primary DNS/Mail/etc Server 2: Secondary DNS/Backup Mail forwarding With Plesk I generated a transfer file from named.conf (plesk runs bind/named for dns) sent that over to server 2 a couple of times a day. Problem is I've converted lxadmin to run with bind instead and named.conf only contains an include to lxadmin.named.conf and this is empty. So where does lxadmin put its conf files for named? I'm not restricted to using named, I'd use djbdns if there was an equally simple way of transferring the zones across to server 2

There is Server US. it's hostname is US.domain.com the ns pointing to it are ns1.domain.com and ns2.domain.com There is Server UK. it's hostname is UK.domain.com the ns pointing to it are ns3.domain.com and ns4.domain.com however, the UK.domain.com resolves simply because I added a dns zone on Server US, which points to the IP of UK. If server US goes down, UK.domain.com is unaccessible, so UK VPS is accessible only via IP. How can I fix this issue and make the second server respond on that UK.domain.com URL without depending on the US server?

VPS For Managing Domain Parking
I have 65 parked domains that are reasonably high traffic (26000 hits per day). I'm looking to run my own VPS server to manage these domains. I need to make a dns hosting for a client of mine. He will change his domain name nameservers to point to my server. His website is hosted on another hosting company. On my server I will create all the necessary CNAME and A records to point www on the server of the other company. My problem is with the MX records though. Because my client owns a local mailserver, (I think it's MS Exchange server) I need to create a primary MX record to deliver all the mails to that mailserver. No problem till here.. But he also needs a secondary MX record in case his mailserver is inaccessible ,so all the mails have to be queued on my VPS and when his mailserver is accessible again to deliver all the mails. Any idea of how I can configure my dns zones for that?

VPS Account With Multiple Domain Setup
I have a VPS account with WHM/Cpanel console access. I have three domains that I am trying to setup. Within WHM I have setup three different accounts, one for each domain. I am able to login to the cPanel for all three accounts. This also created a new web directory for each domain in /home/domain_name/public_html/. I have placed my default index.php in all three public_html with the same permissions. But only 1 domain is working the other two are not. What am I missing? I have confirmed that all three have the correct DNS servers with godaddy and I can do an nslookup on all three. My provider told me to share the IP so that is what I am configured as..

Registrar's Domain Name Server Service For My VPS?
I'm wondering is it possible to use RegisterFly's DNS server for my VPS. I only have 1 website on the VPS, but I want to increase the reliability of my site overall and thought if it were possible to give the DNS operations to my Registrar, who probabily really does have seperate DNS servers, this would be a good move. Since it would allow me to disable BIND (freeing up resources/memory), and put the DNS operations to quite possibly a more reliable set of servers (since my 2 DNS servers are actually just my 1 VPS) What are the Pros/Cons of this type of arrangement? So I need to know, can it technically be done, and what zones entries I need to create.

Nameservers In VPS - Domain In Godaddy - Backup - How To Setup?
I just got a VPS plan for the first time where I want to host several new websites. In the past I've used individual accounts to host a couple of other websites and haven't paid much attention to nameserver setup, just configured at my registrar whatever I was given from the hosting service. So, I got a brand new domain to act as the host of the rest of the domains I'm setting up: www.example.com. In the VPS I have setup this one as the default domain for nameservers: ns1.example.com ns2.example.com Question 1: - Can I setup ns1.example.com and ns2.example.com as the nameserververs for www.example.com ? i.e. nameserver is used for the same domain in which it is named. Even if this is possible, is it a good idea or would it be better to host it somewhere else? When I try to define those as the nameservers in Godaddy I get the error message Nameserver not registered. What am I missing? Other DNS questions Question 2: - If I host my nameservers in my VPS, I will need a separate IP for each one (ns1, ns2...and so on). Can I still use those IP's to actually host websites, or do I need additional IP's to host the actual sites? Any value in keeping each IP dedicated to a nameserver? For example: IP#1 = used for ns1 IP#2 = used for ns2 IP#1 = used for website 1 IP#2 = used for website 2 Question 3: - Are DNS backup services valuable if I host my own nameservers? Any suggestions on good quality providers? Price not an issue. Question 4: - If I used DNS backup services for example.com will that apply to ns1.example.com and ns2.example.com which I used for my VPS? and therefore will be applicable to other domains I host? Email From A Single Domain (university) Not Being Received At VPS/Cpanel
I have a problem where all email sent from uaccb.edu (studentmail.uaccb.edu [208.190.226.130]} is not arriving at my VPS. The people sending email from the above domain are not getting any errors, it is not being marked as spam, it is just being blackholed somehow. I have checked the above IP and domain, and can't find it on any blacklist, and I am using pretty standard cPanel setup on my VPS. I have spam set to be marked and receive a fair amount and have it autorouted to a folder rather than auto-deleted. From uaccb.edu, the only thing I have access to is Outlook Web Access to send test emails, and they are sent fine with no errors returned. If I send test emails to gmail and other similar email accounts, they go through fine, the only problem is to ANY domain hosted on my VPS. I have even recently transferred all the domains to a second VPS (with the same hosting company) at a different datacenter (for different reason) and the problem persists. Is there any WHM setting or any ideas on how to troubleshoot this?

I have migrated my accounts from resller account of site5 to vps account to wiredtree... But I have a problem now. In site5, when I use their reseller option each domain owner could access their cpannel simply by http://www.pr.web.tr/cpanel and other user also can access http://url.gen.tr/cpanel etc... the good thing if the owner is the same, he/she can use both account in the same browser in different tabs and even browsers can sace the password to reach those accounts seperately... but in vps account in wiredtree, when user try to access http://www.pr.web.tr/cpanel the server redirects it https://host.ucuzhosting.net:2083 so it doesnt matter which domain he/she tried to connects, the server redirects them to this domain... so: it is not possible to access the ditterent cpanels at the same time using same tabbed browser anymore. the passowrd can not be stored on browsers either, since there isn't any domain... only the resller account panel here. so for each new domain cpanel access the password keepers only update the new password... There must be someway to configure the access of each domains cpanel throeugh their own domain name... but couldnt figure it out...

Domain Parking - Wildcard Domain Name Server (DNS)?
We have a lot of unused domains that we'd like to setup domain parking for. To keep it simple, we'd like to just change the namesevers to ns1.domainparking.com and ns2.domainparking.com (not real nameservers!) and the domains would then automatically show a simple web page. i have about 8 different domains i'd like to point to a nameserver (ns1./ns2.mydomain.com) on Win2k3 server, but i can't get them resolved through my nameserver without creating a manual forward lookup entry for each *parked* domain separatly.. 32 Or 64bit & Existing Domain Net Vs New Domain
delving into a new server, a dual opteron w/Centos. Got two questions as I think about setup. 1) 32 bit or 64bit? 2) Regarding host names and server assignemt...I can either assign it as a node to a domain hosted elsewhere in a reseller account, or I can start with a completely unused domain which is currently parked. Any preference, in an ideal world? (I have absolutely no preference, but it occurrred to me it may or may not be of consequence, perfomance & IT-wise and generally speaking .. all things being equal, of course.) Like I said, a newbie. So I'm braced for the if-you-have-to-ask, you-shouldn't-be-in-one" musings for these rather basic boneheaders.

I'm setting my first eCommerce site and right now I need to resolve the following issue. I need to install (well, the hosting company will do it for me) a SSL certificate and I need to know what is best or common practice, to use domainname.com or www.domainname.com I don't know what difference it would make but it seems to do so because the hosting company is asking me to choose.
