I am going to be starting a free hosting company soon with a very professional layout, functions, etc. What is the best dedicated server host to choose from here? I need to offer a good amount of space/bandwidth to my customers.? I am also looking for a reputable company that can host thousands of free clients on there server(s) with no problems.
Intel Quad Core Xeon at 2.13GHZ 2 GB RAM 2x500GB HDD with RAID 1 3TB BW $100/m
It's from cmbhosting, but so bad, the owner no longer keep his work and i'm searching another HP. My site have about 1000-1600 connection same time and my current server handle well, no lagging, cpu load average never more than 1.
I don't know if another dual core server ( like Dual Core E1200 ) can handle my server ? Or even a pentium 4 server ?[ Because i don't have much money to spend my server at this time, then i need a lowest price possible.
I run a small family website and I'm looking for a new web host. I have read some reviews and compared prices. However, many look the same in regards to services they offer. I don't really know on what criteria to base my decision. I don't really need much (e.g. space, bandwidth).
i want to buy a 20$/month hosting for vtiger crm,and so i can run a web office to manage my small company, upload product images and client contact infos.
i want to buy mediatemple .net 's gs plan ,their visit speed is very fast and they offer 100G space,
but they don't accipe paypal only credit card, and if i want to pay with paypal ,i should pay 12 months one time.that's 200 $.too much for me at one time ,high risk for me ,and i seen some negative review on some hosting review site and their support is not so fast,i must wait a long time to get a reply
then i go to [url],they are also very fast site visit speed, but they looks only for magento hosting and the price is high, for 20$ they only 5G webspace and 50G bandwidth that's not enough in long term
i still don't know which one to choose or any other hosting with fast visit speed.
what hosts are considered the best for virtual dedicated servers.
I know about the big names like GoDaddy and Yahoo, but who really has the best service and (importantly) the best price/value?
Heres what I need power-wise: Something that offers 2GB+ of RAM to me, 20GB+ Hard Drive space, and something thats running on Windows. I intend to run 3 e-commerce sites off this, so if you think I need more power please recommend it.
Are there any providers out there that can actually attest that they are fully PCI compliant? Meaning, they know the meaning of the phrase, have looked at the requirements, has their network/servers scanned by a 3rd party, etc.?
I looked at the following document and the only recognizable host I see is Rackspace:
[url]
Our e-commerce software platform, merchant gateway, and internal network is and will be PCI compliant. But now I'm down to finding a managed dedicated web host who is.
i want to build a fileshering web site, i know from the start that trafic to my site will be high becouse it is not a regular file host site and i belive that i will have a lot of downloads as service will be mostly free of charge.
from what i understand i will need massive servers or at least good servers with high data transfer speed , reliable up time , very big storage space and massive bandwith.
i understand that budget should be high for this and i am not cutting on budget, i thought on first starting low and then upgrading but the low point of this poject will still need to have the best i can find both in speed ,storage and bandwith.
can you reccomend what service or way i can use for this project?
what servers rapidshare use? megaupload? i know i am still at start but i want a clean start.
how to check if you host has made their job correct ?
We are looking into a PCI scan just because of the security, we do not need to be PCI compliant, but the security standard is what I believe the most reliable to stick to.
i have a mp3 search engine website, i dont host any mp3 file, and i want buy a dedicated from france, but the seller of yourwebhoster.eu say its no allowed the mp3 search engine, where i can host that?
I'm desperately looking for a dedicated host that supports/guarentees that bridged networking VMware workstations will work on their network. Reason being is Zenix5ive bridged our VMware workstations fine with external IP addresses perfectly but their service is terrible! So I'm looking for a provider with a much faster network that supports bridged networking, and they know for a fact it works because I'm tired of paying money to do trial and error on whether it works or not!
If anybody uses bridged networking on their VM's and their network is fast please let me know which provider you use...
I'm looking for a host that specializes in DDoS protection. The ideal server would have decent ram (2GB),high traffic speeds, not much disk space, only around 10 GB at tops and of course 24/7 uptime with live support.
have set up a server at burst.net.But burst.net said they will not transfer my data from Dreamhost.com to my new server.I think it's a bad idea to download all my data from dreamhost to my computer and then upload them to the new server. So,is there any easier way to transfer the data from Dreamhost.com to my new server at burst.net?
It seems dreamhost has no SSH and cPanel, but my server has both of them.I heard that I can use the get/mget command to do that,
I just want to use a server for file sharing, it will have nginx and that's it. I'm looking at centos, or freebsd, but I been using centos forever now and I'm not sure how to use freebsd, should I just stay with centos?
Do I tell my hosting provider to just install the OS and give me ssh action and that's it? Don't install any control panels or any other stuff? I want one domain and one subdomain on it though and ftp action.
Our customer wants some type of DDOS protection for their e-commerce website.
I'm trying to decide between 20mbps or 100mbps DDOS server protection (proxy shield) Do you think that 20mbs DDOS server protection is worthy? It costs >$1000 and it seems to handle only low attacks...?
They have a limited budget so... I will go for 100mbps (>$2000) protection only if I have to...
My brother wants to open a free file hosting and need good quality unmetered bandwidth with many hdd space also. Anyone maybe has experience before on this? i searched whole forum and found that the datacenter who offer it and with cheap price is fdcservers, and just found leaseweb also not bad.
is there any good and bad review on those datacenters? or maybe could suggest other datacenter?
Currently have the following and pay $134 a month:
OS: CENTOS 4.7 Hardware: AMD HP A64 4200 DC/2GB/250GB SATA Bandwidth: 1500GB Control Panel: cPanel + Fantastico IPs: 5 Useable Location: US
I don't like my host, and would like to move to a similar price point with a new host. I am capable of managing almost all aspects of my server, only the initial configuration of things like PHP sometimes throw me.
I am currently running a set of websites which is about 20 domains and as many databases. These are php4, mysql 5 websites.
/* rant mode on*/
I was hosted on 1and1 shared hosting but had to upgrade to their dedicated hosting due to constraint of 15 dbs max on shared.
The first problem arose when they said all the data has been transferred to dedicated (I have email proof) but after two weeks suddenly the darn databases vanished from my dedicated account. I checked with the hosting and they said the DBs need to be moved manually. I was pissed as hell but thankfully they came up with that morning's backup of the databases and nothing was lost.
The second problem that came my way was that Shared hosting had MySQL5 but the dedicated hosting only had MySQL4. This was pretty ironic as I was supposed to be upgrading.
Being weekend and all, I was in one hell of a tight spot. With client's and partner's breathing down, I moved the databases to a idle-sitting shared 1and1 hosts and got the sites running. /* rant mode off*/
I am currently confused and scared as to how to choose my next hosting. I want a dedicated host because of the traffic on some of the more high profile domains. I would appreciate if someone suggested a very good host in £100 to £175 bracket, especially if you have been with him for a few years.
We've been using GoDaddy as our dedicated host for about 2 years now. Throughout this time our performance with them has slowed. We have 2 eCommerce websites that receive moderate traffic but not outrageous and a few personal websites for ourselves that get roughly nil. Our entire server uses maybe 60GB of traffic a month as reported by plesk.
A fairly consistent problem we have however is page load time. Our server's CPU load reported by uptime is usually very low in the 0.05-0.15 range even during peak hours. So we doubt that the CPU is the problem. Additionally I have tried saving a static copy of our index page and uploading it to another part of the server and the load time between the static and dynamically generated page appears to be identical.
It appears as though our server allows at max 1-2 connections a time per IP address, or perhaps even globally, to receive data at one time. If I load our index page which is fairly image intensive it takes quite some time for the page to load in. It appears as though 1-2 images at a time are typically loading and that's about the limit. My ping time to the server is usually 50-60ms which really doesn't seem too bad to me, or perhaps I am wrong. If I hop over to a site like Google News however their front page contains probably 50 images and they seem to all load in a matter of moments and my ping to news.google.com is actually worse than my ping time to my own server.
For the lifting our server does I feel it's fairly beefy even given that it's a machine approaching 2 years old. It's a P4 3GHz w/ HT, 2GB RAM, 120GB RAID1 HD. The machine we had prior from another host was a Duron 1400 (iirc) w/ around 512MB RAM and 60GB HD and it didn't stumble on these tasks the way our server with GoDaddy has - again leading me to believe it's either some configuration option or is it just the quality of the GoDaddy network that is leading to these slow load times or page timeouts all together.
We recently purchased a new server with GoDaddy a few months ago and are preparing to migrate our current server to the new box - however given the worsening problems with load times we are simply considering moving elsewhere if it's not something that can be fixed with a config file or in Plesk.
choosing an appropriate webhost solution. I'll be launching a site that will initially serve around 3000-4000 pageviews per day (say 2000-2500 uniques per day) but will go well over 10-15K eventually. Pretty small based on that metric. With just PHP (no dynamic content), my shared host has handled that fairly well for an existing site.
However, this site will need to track search queries...so, each page will do a simple MySQL lookup and either upgrade a count or do a small insert. Again, very simple stuff but not sure how this affect performance and CPU load. Still, I know my provider has pretty low thresholds on max db concurrent connections and they've loaded my server with lots of other sites recently. I'd rather not take a chance after launching.
Based on that simple operation, would you recommend moving to a managed VPS or possibly a semi-dedicated server? The traffic still sounds low but I'm just not sure of the mysql effect
If VPS, it seems like 512M memory should be the minimum for this setup or could I get away with something smaller, like 384M/256M?
I've read good things about MediaLayer's "application hosting" but it still sounds just like shared hosting.

Support - 9/10
iweb really had a very good support i always get my request/tickets solved very quickly, i never got any negative answer from iweb.they are prompt in replies , but the reason why i gave 9 marks here out of 10 is because, they lack in live chat , live chat normally leaves in between.and that is what i don't like, its really annoying that we wait for 20,30 min and then they leave us without any notification.rest ticketing system is really good

Currently I am hosting my web site myself on my PC at home (Jboss+ mysql). Using a dedicated server with the highest spec can cost me a fortune knowing that I've just started my online recruitment business.
Should I just hire good hosting services to do things more professionally or should I keep hosting myself and learn how avoid many downtimes
My big client is coming to sign up with us included managment. He will use thousand email accounts for his staff in 4 companies in Asia. Just website, download brochures/pdfs and thousand emails.
Should I host him on my server or get him his own VPS / Dedicated server. He said I do whatever host him on mine or seperate server as long as the server is up.
I never host thousand emails before, I do not know which server is suit for him. I find if I host him on my server, many of his staff will check emails in business hours and may be causing my customers' sites slow.
