My brother wants to open a free file hosting and need good quality unmetered bandwidth with many hdd space also. Anyone maybe has experience before on this? i searched whole forum and found that the datacenter who offer it and with cheap price is fdcservers, and just found leaseweb also not bad.
is there any good and bad review on those datacenters? or maybe could suggest other datacenter?
I am looking for webhosts providing free dedicated (not shared) SSL certificates alongwith dedicated IP.
Currently I found only dotable.com and other companies in the UK2 group providing such a package. Is there any other good webhost providing free SSL certificates.
My budget is maximum $10 per month.
Only CPanel hosts are preferred and access to WHM would be a definite plus though not mandatory.
I've been searching around for a good free SVN host. I've come across the following:
[url] [url] [url] [url]
Which one would be the best, and what are some other good ones. I need to be able to have Subversion for a closed-source project, in which 2 people will be coding on it.
What is the best way to host sites with controversial but borderline legal content?
In the USA, although there is some free speech protection from the 1st amendment, the threat of lawsuits defeats it and the businesses err on the side of caution.
I don't mean abuse either, like selling pirated software or allowing spammers to flood people. I mean, actual valuable speech that is legal, but upsets people.
The USA datacenters suspend accounts and disconnect servers all the time over this. All it takes are either lots of complaints to the abuse team, or scary legal letters.
This makes it impossible for people with unpopular beliefs to share them or expose powerful people for their fraud since they can easily scare the host into censoring.
So how can we provide actual free speech hosting? When I get a dedicated server or colocate in a datacenter I'm under their TOS and AUP. I read them, and it seems good.
But then abuse gets complaints from people. If they're a good host they'll look into it and dismiss the ones that don't have legal merit. But the complaints keep coming.
Finally it reaches a point where they're sick of seeing complaints for your servers, or one of the lawyer's letters sounds scary and legit so they give up and terminate.
The way it should be is, they tell them to email us instead, NOT the datacenter. "We aren't liable for the content hosted we just provide the facility, contact the client".
But they don't do that. They act as police. Well that'd be fine and good for the network if they were good police. But they don't know the law in detail and aren't judges.
So I don't know how to exercise the free speech rights of my customers who want to have a place on the web to say controversial things or post upsetting information.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Some things I'm thinking about are, offshore, mirrors, or ISP.
For offshore, maybe there is some place where people don't threaten to sue like the USA, and the Americans can't bully the datacenter. If they have free speech rights it might work.
For mirrors, maybe there's a way to link a bunch of shared hosting accounts into a central dedicated server that pushes content out to them, so when the server is pulled the rest stays.
For ISP, maybe datacenters are legally liable so we need to go higher. What if we got regular Business internet from AT&T or Verizon and hosted in an office? Will they still suspend?
Can some one suggesst CGI free host site with LWP, as my company has blocked some site & I need to refer that so will lwp to pull that page & I can view the page which is blocked

I'm looking for a free web host to host my portfolio. I need:
1) Php/MySQL Support 2) .htaccess support, so I can have search-engine-friendly URLs. 3) Preferably I'd like there to only be a text/graphic ad at the bottom of the page, or to be able to pay a small fee and have the ad removed. (No popups)
Is there any such host available, or can any of you guys here who sell web hosting set me up with one such account?
I heard a lot about 110mb and registered with them.My experience was very bad.I even paid for upgrades, but the uptime was very bad. Most of the time my site was down.
Does any web host give free dedicated server/cluster hosting to non-profit or famous websites? I'm just wondering coz if I made a site and it got 1 million visits per day, who do you think would give me free dedicated cluster server hosting? Or Would only a rich company like google or microsoft be able to do that?
Heres the thing, I purchased a domain today at 123-reg.co.uk
And well, I'm planning on creating a forum for this domain under another host. But I will be getting that host in a few months, since I'm going on vacation for 6 weeks and its unnecesary to already pay a host.
So I'm looking for a free host, that supports nameserver change. Because I wan't to have a temporary page with Coming Soon text on it and a contact form, so the host should be able to use php also. This is just till I'm back from the vacation and have the new host. Anybody knows a nice one?
Also another question, this is my first time using a seperate domain from host. Can I always change my domains nameservers? So that when I return from vacation, I can apply them on the new host?
if there is a hosting company which provides free SEO tools or other web site promotion services for its customers. I know the companies which provide their customers with free domains if they buy their hosting, but I have never heard of hosting companies which provide free website promotion services for their clients, do such companies exists?
Currently have the following and pay $134 a month:
OS: CENTOS 4.7 Hardware: AMD HP A64 4200 DC/2GB/250GB SATA Bandwidth: 1500GB Control Panel: cPanel + Fantastico IPs: 5 Useable Location: US
I don't like my host, and would like to move to a similar price point with a new host. I am capable of managing almost all aspects of my server, only the initial configuration of things like PHP sometimes throw me.
I am currently running a set of websites which is about 20 domains and as many databases. These are php4, mysql 5 websites.
/* rant mode on*/
I was hosted on 1and1 shared hosting but had to upgrade to their dedicated hosting due to constraint of 15 dbs max on shared.
The first problem arose when they said all the data has been transferred to dedicated (I have email proof) but after two weeks suddenly the darn databases vanished from my dedicated account. I checked with the hosting and they said the DBs need to be moved manually. I was pissed as hell but thankfully they came up with that morning's backup of the databases and nothing was lost.
The second problem that came my way was that Shared hosting had MySQL5 but the dedicated hosting only had MySQL4. This was pretty ironic as I was supposed to be upgrading.
Being weekend and all, I was in one hell of a tight spot. With client's and partner's breathing down, I moved the databases to a idle-sitting shared 1and1 hosts and got the sites running. /* rant mode off*/
I am currently confused and scared as to how to choose my next hosting. I want a dedicated host because of the traffic on some of the more high profile domains. I would appreciate if someone suggested a very good host in £100 to £175 bracket, especially if you have been with him for a few years.
Simplehelix offers a 128/256 bit RapidSSL Certificate for just $99.95/year. In addition, this certificate comes with a year of dedicated IP address with free installation.
We've been using GoDaddy as our dedicated host for about 2 years now. Throughout this time our performance with them has slowed. We have 2 eCommerce websites that receive moderate traffic but not outrageous and a few personal websites for ourselves that get roughly nil. Our entire server uses maybe 60GB of traffic a month as reported by plesk.
A fairly consistent problem we have however is page load time. Our server's CPU load reported by uptime is usually very low in the 0.05-0.15 range even during peak hours. So we doubt that the CPU is the problem. Additionally I have tried saving a static copy of our index page and uploading it to another part of the server and the load time between the static and dynamically generated page appears to be identical.
It appears as though our server allows at max 1-2 connections a time per IP address, or perhaps even globally, to receive data at one time. If I load our index page which is fairly image intensive it takes quite some time for the page to load in. It appears as though 1-2 images at a time are typically loading and that's about the limit. My ping time to the server is usually 50-60ms which really doesn't seem too bad to me, or perhaps I am wrong. If I hop over to a site like Google News however their front page contains probably 50 images and they seem to all load in a matter of moments and my ping to news.google.com is actually worse than my ping time to my own server.
For the lifting our server does I feel it's fairly beefy even given that it's a machine approaching 2 years old. It's a P4 3GHz w/ HT, 2GB RAM, 120GB RAID1 HD. The machine we had prior from another host was a Duron 1400 (iirc) w/ around 512MB RAM and 60GB HD and it didn't stumble on these tasks the way our server with GoDaddy has - again leading me to believe it's either some configuration option or is it just the quality of the GoDaddy network that is leading to these slow load times or page timeouts all together.
We recently purchased a new server with GoDaddy a few months ago and are preparing to migrate our current server to the new box - however given the worsening problems with load times we are simply considering moving elsewhere if it's not something that can be fixed with a config file or in Plesk.
