I administrate a server with IIS 6 on it running Windows 2003 server. The problem is the person is does the webpages uploads webpages onto the server and when viewing them in the browser you see weird characters. The default encoding used is ISO, so when I change it to UTF-8 the characters go away and it looks normal. Now I know I can have him go into each page and add a meta tag to tell it to use UTF-8 but he has thousands of pages.
My OS is FreeBSD 6.2 and I use Sendmail as software to send the e-mail. When I sent a french letter, specials character will display as é. Is there a way to fix it?
I'm seeing this in my HTTP Headers in a javascript widget I'm serving. Is there a way to disable chunked transfer encoding, either in PHP or my htaccess file? I have reason to believe it's a workaround for an IE bug.
I've seen this header being sent by a small number of visitors. I suppose it's due to some personal antivirus or firewall, as Norton Internet Security strikes out the Accept-Encoding header too (in a different fashion though - it asterisks them out).
We been working on building a Japanese site for some time now. We finally finished off and are in the testing stage. Through out the development of the site we've been having trouble with way that Japanese characters display in our auto emails. The problem is, neither us nor programming we team work with are Japanese. And there is very little to no information about this in English.
We've had issues where.
garbled text show up in one or two fields of an email (title/subject/body) but displays fine in others.
garbled text show up in one email account type (yahoo) and not in another (gmail).
Recently one point which really puzzled us, is that we have some auto emails (specific emails from our system to our users relating to topic) that show up fine in all email account types. Yet some emails generated for the same system with basically the same mix of character types have errors. Could this be and error on our part in the incorrect implementation of a coding method that has worked before?
I have a video site (just embedding) that is pretty small right now. I do not need a dedicated server just yet.
I am currently using westhost and they do not support the typical suite of video software needed to convert videos to flvs. I would like to know if there are any reliable hosts with good support that offer installation of the following software on a shared vps:
I would like to know if there's any way we could reduce "conversion times" for videos while converting them with "mencoder" and "x264 codec"?
Is it possible to cluster 2-3 or more servers (Quad core/8GB RAM) so that I can reduce the conversion timings effectively?
The original video sizes are around 500-700MB on an average and I'd like to convert them using mencoder in x264 codec @ 500Kbps bitrate and 2pass settings.
Ofcourse it'll take atleast 1-2hours to encode 1 such video at these settings on a 'single' such server, so is there a way to reduce the conversion times to around 10-15minutes/video by using "parallel encoding" with x264 codec?P.S: I know how to form a cluster, using beowulf/rocks, etc...what I need help with is 'using' the cluster with x264 codec
Since updating to plesk 12, we haven't been able to back up the server; even tough sites are backed up individually - apparently backups are ok, haven't had the need to try them.
The troubling domain is a huge joomla site which was backed up w/o trouble through previous versions of plesk 9, 10 and 11.
This is the error message at the server's backup admin:
ERROR: (server object 'server') Runtime error: The check dump failed with code '1'. The dump can contain invalid data! at /usr/local/psa/admin/bin/plesk_agent_manager line 1022. ERROR: (server object 'server') The dump have been invalidated by check-dump operation

I have a problem with my server. I am trying to make a subdomain, and it isn't working. I create it like how in all tutorials says here( click here ) . I completed all fields, but when i try to open the subdomain in a browser page, it's telling me, page not found / page doesn't exist. I have a dedicated server on window server 2008 for my website with a dedicated IP.
Right now my stats system only shows from what website traffic is coming. I have google analytics aswell, and with all its functions, it does not tell me from exactly what webpage traffic is coming, and to what webpage the traffic is coming to.
So, let say someone is sending me traffic from www.reffererxxx.com/cool_video.html to www.mysite.com/super_cool_video.html
My statistics would only show that www.reffererxxx.com is sending traffic to www.mysite.com
Is there a way(a script/service/program) to find out exactly from what webpage the traffic is coming, and to what webpage of mine the traffic is going to? (I do not have server logs / webalizer / awstats as my server cannot handle the log processing due to high server loads)
I'm running shared hosting and would like to keep the amount kept in cache down so that there is always more memory free... how would i go about doing that?
I always presumed the Expires: date is part of the page cache instructions, however I was told its to do with the cookie. I thought the cookie expire was set as expires=date in the set cookie line and not on a new line with the :
i have cpanel and when i suspend anysite i got Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage i suppose to see the suspend page but i can't see it and i want to know what's worng here
Webhostingbuzz.com has been in the web hosting market for a long while and they have many positive feedbacks. In my opinion they are a realiable company with a large client database.
I created the subdomain for my site www.mysite/myclientpotentialdomain, with the only purpose to show my client the mock up of his home page using his potential domain name. The file is named index.htm and consist only the mock up image.
The problem that I encountered is when I refresh the browser (Firefox) the image disappears. I can see the alt tag, but the picture is gone. Works fine in IE though. The only difference I have noticed that after the refreshment,
I have configured a custom 500.100 Error for one of my web sites in IIS 6.0. However, the custom error page appears nested within the HTML of the page throwing the error, at the point the error occurs.
This is problematic as live errors are being overlooked when they appear late in the script as the majority of the page outputs normally.
On my development server IIS 5.1 this does not happen. The Custom Error Page is shown as its own page. The errors cannot go unnoticed.
How can I change IIS 6.0's Customer Error to behave like my development server, and do it just for the one web site concerned?
i have hosted my website on dadicated windows hosting with rackspace. my webiste default page was index.aspx. now i have created new home page with name the of index.html and uploaded this page to server and deleted old home page index.aspx but my new index.html page not showing when i try to open open my website www.example.com but its opening when i try with www.example.com/index.html.
Webhostgiant.com, Asmallorange.com and Dayanahost.com are the companies which can be used for reselling, their plans are resourceful and support is their priority. Pricing is affordable.
My Server is up and running CentOS 4.6 w/ cPanel. All appears to be functioning correctly. My office has 1 dedicated IP. I currently have a wireless linksys router setup and I have given the server a dedicated lan ip address (192.168.1.70) which is outside the dhcp ip range.
Now, my resolv.conf file consists of the DNS servers of my webhost.
My ifcfg-eth0 file looks like this: DEVICE=eth0 BOOTPROTO=static BROADCAST=192.168.1.255 HWADDR=00:11:2F:FB:2C:02 IPADDR=192.168.1.70 NETMASK=255.255.255.0 NETWORK=192.168.1.0 ONBOOT=yes TYPE=Ethernet
Now, when I attempt to view a website I add via WHM I always end up @ the GREAT SUCCESS cPanel page.
I think my problems boil down to the IP issue. I have tried to change the IPADDR in the ifcfg-eth0 file to the WAN dedicated IP and everything stops working.
Within cPanel it shows the MAIN SHARED IP ADDRESS is the 192.168.1.70. So, within the IP POOL I added the WAN IP address and rebuilt it. Then I created a new reseller user and changed the MAIN SHARED IP to the WAN IP.
I'm not to familiar with making a web pages so I need some help. I would like to start a web page in Southern America so I can advertise I guess on there "domain" or host country( I'm not even sure if that is what it is called.) I basically want to have a Southern American web site where they can find it in there directory or if it were googled in South America they could find it.
