I have been with them for about a week now and have opened about 40 support tickets.
I think they are great with the managed hosting , they have a 1 hour response gurantee and the live support is very friendly.
I also upgraded plans which went smoothly.

I found the best VPS Host! I came accross VPSByte.com and I just loved them. They helped me from selecting a plan, setting up my account, and other issues I had. Their support is friendly and fast. Also, they have a lot of different plans to choose from and I found just want I needed. I am kinda new at VPS and so they helped me out a lot on getting started. They offer a lot of services and features. I love the many different control panels they offer. They treat me like a friend and guide me through the solutions to my problems. I would really recommend this host to everyone. The site i have with them is emeraldfeathers.com.

I am happy with my current host (SolarVPS) and also have some kind of liking for Futurehosting.
I have just seen some really good offers for VPS from VPSByte and was considering hosting a friends sites with them.
But because I have no experience with them, I'd like to know whether there are any VPSByte customers here and what your experiences are with them, good and bad.
What I want to know is in these criteria:
- Speed (I've tested and it seems OK because my Friend is in US),
- Performance,
- Stability,
- Support (How newbie-friendly are they because my friend is more of a newbie than myself)

I've ordered dedicated sever the AMD4200 at vpsbyte last Thursday, exactly a week ago, but status on my client page is still pending, during a whole week i sent 4 emails with 1 response - a promise to set up server in Monday, and that's 3 days ago. Gee i am so pissed off i had to set my project to idle and loose money. Their website is totally outdated to 2008 and buggy as hell, that kayako support thing doesn't work at all, general support is offline 24h, MSN is offline, 1h response means maybe 1 week response if lucky.I don't really grow my money in trees and i really need superfast connection to my dedicated server for reasonable price...
I feel robbed, should i report them to authorities for scam? or they are just out of business?

My VPSByte Review.
I started to write a long review detailing the hellish experience I had with VPS Byte. But I think instead, I will just summarize with this.
VPS BYTE IS AN UNLICENCED, ILLEGALLY OPERATING OPERATION.
The State of Oregon, City of Portland and Multnomah County all require business licenses to run your business inside the state, city and county.
On their home page (vpsbyte.com) at the bottom, they say:
Copyright 2006-2007 VPSByte LLC. All rights reserved
If you call the Oregon Secretary of States office, you will see that, no such company (LLC) exists or is licensed to do business in Oregon. (Oregon Secretary of State: 503 986 2200)
On their "About us" page, they say:
VPSByte, maintained under the ASC Group of Oregon
Again, no such company legally exists in the state of Oregon.
If you pay them with Paypal, the payment really goes to: selectbyte.net. Once again, there is no company licensed to do business in the state of Oregon named Select Byte. Apparently Camron does business under many other names, none that I can find are legally registered.
That business address is in the city of Portland, Oregon. If you call the city of Portland:
(503) 823-4000
You will see that there is no business registered under any of Camrons names are licensed to do business in the city of Portland or Multnomah County.
Rather than continue on with my experiences, I suggest that you simply decide if you want to do business with an unlicensed "company".

Currently I'm hosted with VPSByte.com. They specialize in high quality VPS and Dedicated servers.
I bought a cPanel VPS from them a while ago and so far have had no problems at all with them. The prices are fantastic and the support (Should you need it...not often) is absolutely great. I've had an answer within an hour every time and they're always happy to assist you any day of the week.
Always making their services better and better VPSByte has been proven to be one of the very best, if not, THE best VPS provider I've ever seen. I'll definately be staying with them for as long as humanly possible!
I'd rate them *****/***** (5/5) and would recommend them any day.

I've had a VPS with Santrex since earlier this year, and for the most part I was satisfied with the service.
As of the end of last month I no longer had a use for the server. I emailed their support, requesting termination of the account, and in doing so, I told them the reason. At this point I had nothing bad to say about Santrex.
2 days later, a paypal subscription I thought I deactivated apparently was still active, and a few days before the bill was due, $29 was leeched from my bank account.
I figure that since I no longer had a a service with them, that it was justifiable to ask for the money back, as I was not even their customer anymore. Simultaneously I requested a refund and a paypal dispute.
This was the first email I got back from support:
Hello,
As far as I can see, you disputed and your dispute was unsuccessful since you have falsely claimed it to be unauthorized.
I'm afraid we can't do anything further since you broke our terms of use.
Thank you.
K Cook
Executive board
Santrex Internet Services
So it's against the terms of use to file an unauthorized claim dispute? That puts the company in a position that if it is corrupt, like I think it might be, they can hide behind TOS violations to justify their actions.
I sent them another email, pointing out that I'm an IT business, that I do have a foreseen need for servers in the future, and that I'd love to continue doing business with Santrex as I enjoyed their services and pricing. This is the response I got:
Hello,
Dear user since we Santrex Internet Services DO NOT practice any refund policies in place as stated clearly at *URL REMOVED BECAUSE I HAVE LESS THAN 5 POSTS HERE(but it's their terms of service link)*
5. Refund and Disputes: All payments to santrex.net are non-refundable. This includes any one time setup fee and subsequent charges regardless of usage. All overcharges or billing disputes must be reported within 30 days of the time the dispute occurred. If you dispute a charge to your credit card issuer that, in santrex.net's sole discretion is a valid charge under the provisions of the TOS and /or AUP, you agree to pay santrex.net an "Administrative Fee" of not less than USD 50 and not more than USD 250.
7. Account Cancellation: Requests for cancelling accounts may be made in writing with at least 7 days notice but not more than 60 days prior written notice and sent to billing@santrex.net
Since you the user have agreed on that Terms of use and signed up to it then you are bind to obey those rules same as we do.
Please feel free to contact us for further questions and help.
Regards,
A. Cook
Billing representative
Santrex Internet Services
Ok so they are now hiding behind their ToS? Lame but understandable. My response to that was asking for service for the money I paid, anything really. I had been interested in a seedbox from them for a while now, and the entry level seedbox costs.... $29 a month. The exact amount that I paid inadvertently.
To add insult to injury, I cannot even access my billing account on their system, to SEE the $29 sitting in my account there, much less place an order for a service that I really wouldn't mind having.
Let's be honest here, while they may refuse to give me a refund for my $29 (it's honestly not THAT much money), at the very least, they could give me service for what I've paid. Then of course, they'd look like honest businessmen, and I think that thought makes them cringe...
Hey, I'm a business myself, I provide IT related services to companies and individuals. I exited the hosting business earlier this year because I couldn't turn a profit from it. Maybe I'm an idiot? Then again, given the nature of the biz and the current economy, hosting is a particularly tough industry these days, and if you're doing well, hats off to you! Back on topic, as a business I am well aware of the value of providing service to your customers, when they pay. If I try to apply Santrex logic to my business, and run off with someones money and not provide a service, that's FRAUD.
And for a little more tidbit of info, look at their history page.
At the very bottom it says "And with Santrex we can guarantee you that you will always get more than what you pay for."

I come here with my review on Santrex.net, before I thought of creating this thread i've read some reviews that were already against Santrex, and I come to share my bad experience with them.
Alright, It all started off in August when I purchased one of their UK VPS', for five days I received an uninterrupted and overall good service, but after them five days thats when problems started to occur, litterally every day I was experiencing downtime, therefore I created tickets concerning the downtimes, out of the 11 tickets i've made 6 of them gave me the answer that there were "troublemakers" on the UK node and therefore caused the node to crash but after experiencing 1 months worth of downtime i've started to get annoyed and made a complaint, and the reply that I received was that the UK node wasn't experiencing downtime because of the "troublemakers" but instead hardware problems and it would be fixed soon.
So I waited for the node to be fixed and a few days after they replied saying its now fixed, but what happens after? In a short amount of time, around 20 hours to be exact the same thing started to happen again with the downtimes and this carried on happening for the next couple of days until I completly ditched the VPS and made a complaint that I wanted to be moved to another node.
So we agree'd on moving to their France node and all my files from the UK node to be transferred, I myself also made a backup just incase there were any problems even though I knew that if there was a problem I wouldn't be able to upload the backup due to a large file size and I was right, there were problems them transferring my files, and apparently they lost the backup and them blamed me because they asked me to make a backup which I did and even though I told them I would not be able to upload the backup due to the size of the backup.
So we started to argue about the backup and got fed up and requested a refund as I was left with a useless VPS and most likely bad service still as I heard that other members on this forum experienced problems on their France node too.
They directed me to their TOS where it says that they don't give out refunds so I was left nothing, and had to put up with this K Kook guys sarcastic replies to my tickets for 3 months.
And then they terminated my account for using minor abuse to him which I don't care about as the VPS at the end of the day was useless to be afterall.
To conclude, with many of my experiences with web services this has got to be the worst one yet as many others can back me up too.
P.S: Although this is my first post, I roughly joined here the same time I purchased the VPS on Santrex, and hopefully will bring some more reviews on some other webhosts.

I paid upfront for a month of service. They didn't create my account because they didn't have the service I ordered, but they did have a variation on the service, and wanted to know if still I wanted it. I didn't accept the service and requested a refund instead, but their "Tier 3" support said that unfortunately they had a 0 refund policy and pointed me to their TOS and stated "that I should have read it and contacted their Pre-Sales to clear up exactly what service they had before paying upfront".
I never got anything out of them, no account or server or username details, and they insisted on keeping my money! After numerous emails and escalations they finally agreed to "give me a credit" but I refused. I filed a Paypal dispute and I of course won. What a bunch of scammers.

I get a vps for a month now and everything is working fine till today.
In my mailbox I found this mail :
A new message or response with subject:
*** Your license has passed its expiry and is in a grace period ***
I have payed my monthly invoice of directadmin 2 weeks ago and I contacted connectswitch this week to say there was something wrong with the directadmin licence and I get response that they are waiting of any respons of DA.
Now 2 days later, like I thought, I can't access DA anymore and my whole server is down! Mail, MySQL, ftp, SSH, ALL!
I have already opened a ticket but they don't answer and I also not find a telephone number to call connectswitch.
I'm not angry but my clients are, how I have to explain and compensate this downtime?

Yet again Connectswitch is down with no notice of any work happening or any emails being sent out and their support site is also down. [url]and if you look at the certificate then it shows it isnt registered to them and it looks like the support system has been deleted. So we cant contact them. My vps is in UK "Delta". We finally have hypervm access again but the vps shows as started but it isnt we have tried restarting and its still not accessilbe as we cant access it via ip or hostname.
We thought they were gonna be ok as they were expanding but seems not. O well time to find a new host.

Yesterday evening 22:30 (GMT+1), my VPS goes down. I made a support ticket, about my VPS is not available, and HyperVM also not available. They reply, they are checking the problem. After 1 hour, I reply again, what is the updates, they reply, they are working on it. Next I replied again, please keep inform me about updates.
Today at 08:00am I see, I didn't got any updates, and I write a new reply to ask the updates. After another hour, I submitted a new ticket to response my previous ticket, but I didn't got any response yet.
My VPS is down 16 hours ago...

I have vps with them for mail gateway.
Connectswitch was running great since Feb 09, but since they restart the DE hostnode there are many problems come.
Never running the vps with cpu load higher than 5 or more, but they suddenly suspend the vps without notification, after contact their support then they told that my vps running with 20 cpu load or more, i try to check on this but could not login into the vps even they already reactivate the vps.
They must be kidding limiting the vps with 10 process only, even SSH services couldn't running. And now they limited with 50 process with a reason for hostnode and other vps node stabillity.
I don't know what happend with their server and management.

I signed up for a month of the CS512-UK package based on the thread:
[url]
Its unmanaged and I opted not to pay the extra for Cpanel - it comes with HyperVM and you can install LXadmin from there, or even install Webmin or ISPconfig yourself I guess.
I screwed up the application form a bit as its not very clear, but a quick Email sorted that out and within 30mins I had my SSH login and IP for my server. Any Emails I sent since got replied to within minutes - quicker than the online support thing.
Anyway, it only took me a few hours to get an Ubuntu 8.04 LTS Server install up and running with POP3(S), IMAP(S), webmail, SSL, MySQL etc; so I really didn't need the control panel.
I'm glad I went with the 512Mb guaranteed, 1Gb burstable instead of the 256Mb I was looking at elsewhere, as I was using 400Mb+ before I disabled ClamAV, now I'm still using around the 360Mb mark, mainly filtering bloody spam!
I'm very happy with the service and performance so signed up for a year upfront - with a further discount, and migrated all my domains across. Just waiting for reverse-DNS now, which seems to be taking a while, but it could be propagation delays i guess.
I was looking at my WordPress stats and the VPS does the SQL queries in a quarter of the time my old Sun Netra did at the colo, plus I don't have the nightmare of driving down to Docklands to replace a disk or whatever, after two years of having a colo I'd rather leave that to someone else!
I was also very impressed with the HyperVM serial console - i.e. you can SSH into the host and get to your VPS even if you've screwed up the firewall rules or accidently turned off SSH passwords before uploading your key (ahem!)
Network speed-wise I downloaded a tarball at 1MB/sec which is as fast as my 8Mbps ADSL will go.
So very happy overall, my only complaint could be it only includes one IP address and adding an extra one adds 15% onto the monthly cost, but I guess its just me being a Scrooge!

I would like some opinions about connectswitch and hostingeuro as I am thinking to buy a vps with around 512 MB of ram guaranteed. For the same price I get almost the same plan but connectswitch offers much more disk space (50GB vs 10GB). They are both from Eu which I also need...

I purchased one of ConnectSwitch's New Year plans two weeks ago. All was great to start of with. My VPS was set up within an hour of signing up and I paid my first months bill.
I sent a support ticket to them on the 5th of January asking them to enable iptables modules so that I can set up the firewall. I was told that this would be looked into as the Kernel was compiled without iptables, and Sam Smith, CEO would look into it. I had to keep sending more support ticket updates asking them for a status, didn't get much back from them though! Two weeks later, still nothing!
Absolutely terrible technical support, and I will even upload a screenshot of the ticket dialogue if anyone is interested.

I signed up with connectswitch as I wanted a secondary VPS and the deal offered at the time was very good. After an initial problem with a DA licence (NOT connectswitch's fault) which I then cancelled direct admin, my VPS was set up. The server has been down once for a very short time, not enough to worry about and the problem was at the datacenter, I was compensated with credit which was pleasing and it went towards the next months payment. Some people have complained of slow responses to tickets, I have experienced this only once and for me, was not an issue. I have opened quite a few also with questions etc... The VPS is not managed as such but they are ALWAYS ready to help if you have an issue or questions. They have helped me with matters that they did not have to at all. My VPS was moved to a new node recently and the downtime was very minimal, a matter of minutes.
All in all I am very happy and have no plans to move. Score: Support 9/10, service 10/10, uptime 9/10. This is only my view based on my experiance with them but when looking for a VPS you should take a look and consider them.

A month back i signed up for reseller hosting with santrex, earlier I've had a VPS since a couple of months which i regularly pay for.
The reseller account was however not according to my expectations as i did not get required amount of support as i should have got.
I did not wish to continue with the Reseller account so i simply did not bother to pay the due RESELLER invoice, however i paid the VPS invoice, BUT my VPS account got banned and the reseller went on being active.
What sort of stupidness would you guys call this? Carelessness or slow at understanding? This kind of services can never be expected from a well known host.
I've liked their services, but i must say after this i am really disappointed.

I've read bad reviews on Santrex, guess I'm just one more in their glut of unhappy customers. I ordered a NL vps 2 weeks ago after being convinced by a friend who has been with them for two months. I was a bit wary, but it was only $10 so I thought what the hell.
Right off the bat when my vps was set up and while I was insalling kluxo, there was some brief downtime. Wasn't that bad, but pretty bad timing for a first impression. Hosting was fine for the next week really, not much downtime, until last week that is.
All NL VPSes were down for more than 72 hours. I didn't pester their support, and it would have been pointless since their support was clueless about the issue. Their reply was that they didn't know how long the downtime would last. Granted it was problem with the datacenter, but thats not what I thought was the worst part.
Normally I'd think that when a host screws up and gives unacceptable uptime, they should at least offer some discount for the next month, if not give it for free. Granted thats not in their TOS, but they shouldn't be surprised at all of these bad reviews and customers leaving from the terrible service. I mean santrex didn't even apologize for this, now I'm not sure if the terrible downtime or the lack of caring by the company is worse.
My VPS hosting ends on the 17th, not gonna do much with it until then most likely, I doubt that santrex expects someone like me to pay them again for the service I got. The fact that these guys have 7k clients amazes me with the fact that these clients stay, and that these guys act as if they have 7 clients.
In closing, you can clearly see this is not a host to bother with, the cheapest vps hosting for sure but even a cheaper level of quality. All Santrex has really provided me is to test out webmin briefly, and it's changed my opinion about the control panel, but really thats it. Hope this review saves anyone from my experience. I may not have had an active site, but anyone hosting a business on one of their NL servers must have gotten big losses from this.

I use a company called VPSByte for basic unmanged VPS service. They are asking me to scan a copy of my drivers license as well as my credit card and post it on their private support page for fraud protection reasons.
I think this is rather absurd. Is this normal? I'm not doing it, I think it's stupid, never mind that I don't have a scanner.
