I've been concerned that my cPanel email address on my dedicated server hasn't been receiving emails. This was confirmed when an email sent by request from a friend did not arrive. The address is fosterd(***at***)pcfastlane.com if anyone would like to send me a test email.
What are the steps I can take to see if my cPanel email software is running correctly? I have already looked into my mail statistics, and it seems as though there are messages not being delivered, a fair amount which seem to be spam, but others that may not be.
I am on a freebsd semi managed dedicated server (semi managed in that they dont really do out lol i just dont have root access, ssh though) unsing DirectAdmin
I need to find a way where i can monitor the processes that each account is using.
In the Service Monitor its showing all the services thats running for example, at present httpd is showing this:
httpd httpd (pid 96703 96702 96700 96698 96697 96696 96695 96694 96693 96692 96691 96690 96689 96688 96687 96686 96685 96684 96683 96682 96662 )I need to find more info about each of the pid's as i would like to know who is using what. does that make sense? The other day (above httpd is normal) there was at least 10 times that amount and the server was dead slow, but i could not find any information as to who was using what and what cause the server to die....
I also have a customer that usually uses about 400mb to 500mb bandwidth per day, since the 28th of march this has gone sky high to nearly 2gb, he says he does not have any attachments fro download, nothing new has been added and no extra traffic, yet this has happened, this is why i need to find more info about such things, I have had a look at the logs but again, i do not really understand what any of it means...
i read this somewhere, but i dont think it works on my server...

Look at the PID of the process using the most resources. Then use "ls -alh /proc/PID".
Ya'll get something like:
root@server02 [/]# ls -alh /proc/10231 total 0 dr-xr-xr-x 3 nobody nobody 0 Jan 17 15:35 ./ dr-xr-xr-x 144 root root 0 Dec 29 09:48 ../ -r--r--r-- 1 root root 0 Jan 17 15:35 cmdline -r--r--r-- 1 root root 0 Jan 17 15:35 cpu lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 Jan 17 15:35 cwd -> /home/USERNAME/public_html/ -r-------- 1 root root 0 Jan 17 15:35 environ lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 Jan 17 15:35 exe -> /usr/local/apache/bin/httpd* dr-x------ 2 root root 0 Jan 17 15:35 fd/ -r-------- 1 root root 0 Jan 17 15:35 maps -rw------- 1 root root 0 Jan 17 15:35 mem -r--r--r-- 1 root root 0 Jan 17 15:35 mounts lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 Jan 17 15:35 root -> // -r--r--r-- 1 root root 0 Jan 17 15:35 stat -r--r--r-- 1 root root 0 Jan 17 15:35 statm -r--r--r-- 1 root root 0 Jan 17 15:35 status
The cwd -> will tell you what folder is being accessed. That should let you know what user.
You can also from SSH on Cpanel boxes use something like "lynx localhost/whm-server-status" to see connections to specific URLs.
I have a VPS over at futurehosting, and I'm having some issues with my PHP/MySQL sites loading slowly after a few days of uptime. A restart of the various services (apache/mysql) fixes the issue, but I'd like the issue to not start in the first place.
I know very little of server administration (I'm still learning) so just let me know what info you need to see to do the troubleshooting and I'll get it to you.
Customer wants to move his website in-house along with his email. The hardware guy installed a windows 2003 64-bit exchange server. I logged in with logmein and created a directory c:Inetputwwwroot hewebsite. Copied iisstart.html to the new dir. Put the company name in the iisstart file. Opened IIS6. Went to properties of the default website and pointed to the new directory on the home dir page. Added iisstart.html the Documents page and moved it to the top. Closed everything. Opened Internet Explorer 7 and put in http://localhost. All worked well. Brought up the new start page. Opened IE7 on my pc and put there ip address in and it also brought up the new webpage (tested the port 80 in the router). Said we were ready to go.
The hardware guy sent me an email stating that he was having problems with the 64-bit version and took the server back to the 32-bit version of windows exchange server. I logged back in with logmein and followed the same exact steps as above but it will not show the new webpage. Am getting a page not found error.
I have done the above on several 2003 servers and several xp pro machines. Always works.
Have done one 2003 exchange server. Went to a couple of those servers and made sure the default website settings were exactly the same as the ones that work. Still no help.
Downloaded an iis6 troubleshooting program from microsoft but cannot locate the error. I have been studying the II6 documentation and 2003 exchange server documentation. Went thru all the tutorials in google on iis6 and exchange I can find no help.
I have a problem with the email accounts .. All of it doesnt work when i try to check them on microsoft outlook .. i'm using a whm/cpanel on a VPS from godaddy. When ever, i try to "Send & Receive" emails, i'll be prompted for the user and pass. Even when i've entered the correct one, i'll still be prompted again. I believe its one of the settings in my whm/cpanel as i have no problems with the other email accounts that i'm using from a different shared host.
The hostname (server.mydomain.com) resolves to . It should resolve to xx.xx.xxx.xx. Please be sure to correct /etc/hosts as well as the 'A' entry in zone file for the domain.
Some are all of these problems can be caused by /etc/resolv.conf being setup incorrectly. Please check this file if you believe everything else is correct.
You may be able to automaticly correct this problem by using the ' Add an A entry for your hostname ' under ' Dns Functions ' in your Web Host Manager
My provider is using mailfoundry for spam filtering.. but I used IMAP (stored on server) for email.. my problem is that I'm also using a catch-all address and I make up random email names for sites I go to, to check for spam on the incoming side..
I setup filters in Cpanel to remove the selected spam or emails I don't wish to recieve.. but they don't seem to remove themselves.. it could just be a setup problem or it could be the mailfoundry.. not sure..
Here's the settings I have in cpanel (I just altered the name) is this the right setting.. or does it go elsewhere?
On my cpanel server, the main account catch-all is full of crap emails. So many that when I try to log into it with horde/squirrel it just times out. How can I clear the mailbox out? I tried connecting too it from outlook express and it connects but doesnt download any of the emails. This is the main email account that cpanel automatically creates for the account.
I have a VPS that runs cPanel/WHM and have been receiving a few enquiries where clients want to move only their email hosting to me. Most of them have small, static, web sites and seem happy with that.
Is this possible? If yes, I would appreciate some pointers on how to go about setting it up.
I just realized for the past week we have not been getting email on one of our servers.
If I send a test message to a non-existant account (that's set to :fail:) I get a bounce-back, so apparently exim is awake and answering.
But if I send an email to a physical account or an account forwarded to another service like gmail, it never shows up, and no error is ever sent to the sending address...
Very bad. I can't imagine the contacts that have been lost at this point.
ConfigServer mail manage shows absolutely no email waiting.
I just got a new vps running virtuozzo with cpanel/whm. I have no plans on ever using email on this server. What's the best way to turn all of it off from whm/cpanel and is it worth doing to speed up the server?
I am running on my VPS the WHM 11.11.0 cPanel 11.15.0-R17853 (Release version), I have noticed that I can't delete one of the Email Forwarders which is forward the emails to pipe program (see the attached image). I have tried to restart cPanel services & delete again, no luck.
Could some one point where is located the file, to overwrite it manually, please?
I have a domain hosted which is the primary domain with all its file hosted, it also has its own email accounts setup.
I now have another domain, i want to make the new domain the primary domain for the account which is hosting my website and the previous domain to be parked on top of it - this is with the use of cPanel.
Now from what ive experienced i should be able to use and setup email accounts from within cPanel from both domains.
This is my question.
The previous domain already has email accounts setup, if i make the switch and make it a parked domain onto the new primary domain will i still be able to retain the same email accounts/passwords/email?
e.g. if i have email@after the switch i want email@to be under the new primary account
I want a Email Plugin for cPanel that can tell me how many email is sent (per user) and some other usefull info.
i have CMQ (Configserver Mail Qeue) but i have seen another free plugin on a server that i can not remember the name of the Plugin and i just remember that there was something like A-SAT in its name.
Server configuration: CENTOS 5.3 x86_64 cPanel 11.24.4-C35075 - WHM 11.24.2 - X 3.9
Is it possible to write a script that will be sending notifications on user e-mail, that is already pre-configured in their account, whenver user will log in to FTP.
Are there any pre-made scripts or if not, any hint's on writing something like that?
And now after creating a Joomla! site for a school that will be moving to my server from a local small isp that doesn't have a control panel (just a screen to allow users to set-up their email name and pwd) I'm stuck with trying to figure out how to set up their email accounts with their current password.
There are about 40 accounts that I can add manually, but when I change the nameservers, these teachers and staff are going to be at a loss as what to do; like I am at the moment.
I dont know how but the passwords keeps getting changed on the emails on my cpanel. Its no one who has acess and no files are being delted to the problem is only with the email.
