View 5 RepliesI have a VPS and I am wondering if anyone knows any way in which to make it so that emails sent from the server are not seen as spam by hotmail and the likes.
View 5 RepliesI just got a vps and I realised that all email sent to hotmail automatically goes into the spam box (until i approve an email address as being "safe").
I believe that hotmail's senderid and a spf record is the way to go
I have already submitted the senderid form saying i dont have an spf record
for the "domains to be added to the senderid program", i listed a couple of my domains.
1) do i still need an spf record?
2) in the future, will i need to tell customers to use outgoing mailservers under one of the domains i submitted (in the senderid form)?
I have a dedicated server in which i host 4 web sites using plesk one of them is mysite.com. That one is also set for ns1.mysite.com ns2.mysite.com.
(all domain names below are just example names)
Dns records for my apple.com orange.com and banana.com uses ns1.mysite.com and ns2.mysite.com my name server is also in the same machine.
In mysite2.com dns settings are as follows.
Code:
80.111.11.11 / 24PTRorange.com
orange.com.NSns1.mysite.com.
orange.com.NSns2.mysite.com.
orange.com.A80.111.11.11
orange.com.MX (10)mail.mysite.com.
orange.com.TXTv=spf1 a mx include:gmail.com,yahoo.com,hotmail.com ~all
ftp.orange.com.CNAMEorange.com.
mail.orange.com.A80.111.11.11
webmail.orange.com.A80.111.11.11
www.orange.com.CNAMEorange.com.
80.111.11.11 is dedicated ip for orange.com.
The PROBLEM:
The thing is whenever the server sends email it is flagged spam by yahoo, hotmail etc. I have created SPF for my orange.com but it is still marked as spam...
I have checked dns report for both mysite.com and orange.com but they seem to be OK with no warnings either.
I want to create a spf record or make somthing so the emails does not marked as spam.
One of my hosted domains have an email problem, every email account that is hosted on that site, is able to send and recieve email, but when sending to gmail or hotmail, it is delivered as SPAM.
Someone told me it is because this domain doesnt have a MX record at the DNS zone..
What is the sintax for the MX record ? I have enterd A(ddress) and CNAME records, but never MX records.. can anyone tell me how to do it so I can send mail in the way it should be.
I've been getting a lot of "Undeliverable" emails sent to my email address. On these messages, the spammer is using my email on the "From" part of the email...... So whenever he sends out spam, the person(s) getting spammed think it's from me..... And the thousands of Undeliverable email error messages are also sent to me.
Is there a way to stop this from Happening? ....... Besides changing my email address?
I have problem, because all e-mails I send from my server (even using e-mail client) to hotmail.com mailboxes are moved to "junk mail" folder. I tried all settings mentioned at [url]... My domain has SPF records (mails pass spf tests), rev-dns and it isn't blacklisted anywhere. My domain name is fusker.pl. What should I do ? I contacted Hotmail, but it'll probably take ages to get answer from them This issue is serious, because 90% of ppl on my mailing list uses hotmail.com To make everything even more interesting, e-mails from my other server don't reach hotmail.com mailboxes at all (everything is configured right and there is no error msg in logs, only "message queued for delivery") - however I don't care about it right now, because there are no active websites on it.
Here's one of such e-mails with headers:
X-Message-Delivery: Vj0zLjQuMDt1cz0wO2k9MDtsPTA7YT0w
X-Message-Status: n:0
X-SID-PRA: fusker (a) fusker.pl
X-Message-Info: 6sSXyD95QpUKMgCpB3f+kFGcJ7U9m+RjqnnKGAX7qL5UKJmZupaOopXri+sb63FJMarxyFVF+cosfafCZDUyTg==
Received: from fusker.pl ([66.84.48.234]) by bay0-mc6-f23.bay0.hotmail.com with Microsoft SMTPSVC(6.0.3790.2668); ....
I just switch to a new server and I found out that hotmails is marking all my mail as spam, it goes directly to the junk mail folder, however gmail and yahoo is ok.
I have a broken reverse dns thought that my be but I'm not sure, anyone have any experience regarding this?
I have different adresses configured with several domains on the same server. All the emails send to gmail/hotmail adresses are marked spam.
Looking in the headers everything seems fine, including SPF:

The server is not blacklisted...
I have a server that is sending spam, but I can not know who sent because the server not has installed suphp.
There is another option to see who sends spam?
For my site email address I get like 500 emails a day.

I cannot figure this out.. I have tried EVERYTHING..
I am running a php script using the mail() function and sending an email..
I have had reverse dns point to the domain

My IP is not blacklisted.. I have had the dedicated server for 2 years now also

I am running freeBSD.. My buddy has his server set up with all of the same sendmail settings being the same.. and his emails don't get flagged..
We have WHM 11 on the server.
Now the server is getting to many spam mails. We already have filters on the server, but we get spam mails with header which are not in English language. The header are normally in russian or arabic language.
how to stop these spam mails with header which are not in english.
I have been receiving a LOT more "unusual character" spam, where the entire email consists of something like this: .....

Hello,We have investigated your issue in detail. We tried to sent mails from the server to our Softlayer hotmail account. From the logs, it is clear that the mails are sent successfully from the server.=========2007-11-23 23:50:29 1IviI1-0001De-SX <= root@server.XXXX.net U=root P=local S=3612007-11-23 23:50:30 1IviI1-0001De-SX => XXXX@hotmail.com R=lookuphost T=remote_smtp H=mx3.hotmail.com [65.54.244.200]2007-11-23 23:50:30 1IviI1-0001De-SX Completed========But this is not received at the hotmail mailbox. Hence this is an issue at their end. You may contact the hotmail support to resolve this.Regarding the spamming, we could find a lot of mails from the user nobody. You can prevent the user nobody from sending the mail from WHM as follows. Please select the option "Prevent the user "nobody" from sending out mail to remote addresses" from WHM >> Main >> Server Configuration >> Tweak Settings >> Mail option.
SPF correct
DNS correct
Submitted to sender ID 2 weeks ago
Mail server tested to other mail clients all ok
GMAil header test. SPF pass
DNStools test: reverse dns, all ok
Blacklists checked. Im not on it
I cant find any reason anymore why my mails dont arrive.
I have 4 VPS with CPanel at knownhost.
I realized that whenever i send an email to hotmail it gets at their spam box.
Is there a way to solve this? Do you know how can i contact hotmail?
I'm not sure if this is the right place to be posting this, but at our hotel, we have wireless routers (Linksys) that any of our clients can use to connect their laptops to the internet. We have been getting reports from our ISP that spam has been coming from our external IP address, so I wanted to know what people would recommend as ways to combat either our computers or any of our clients' computers from sending out spam. The internet is connected through a firewall/server computer running linux. I thought about blocking port 25, but I'm sure we would have clients complaining about not being able to send any mail.
