I recently put up a website and after about a week, I suddenly can not access it. The site went down after the host had a problem with the http on the server and it never came back for me but it works for everyone else. It times out while trying to connect in both the web browser and FTP client. The problem appears to be related to my internet connection, because the site won't load on any computer that is using my internet. When I disconnect from my cable and use my cellphone as a modem, the site works fine. The site works for everyone else that has tried though.
Besides changing my IP address, how do I go about getting the site to work?
So this is a new problem for me, and I have no idea what could be broken?
My server works, but none of the sites load.
Server ip is 69.162.121.170, one of the sites is bloghost.cl
Where should I start looking? When you try to visit the site it just tells you it cant establish a connection. All I did was restart the server today, and now nothing works
where to find a solution to this and despite searching I have not got anywhere.
I need to set up various selected addresses on one dedicated server to be forwarded to another server which does not have a domain name which fails.
This is how I have set it up :-
A dedicated server is hosting the "domain.com" and I am currently using virtusertable to forward email for "fred@domain.com" to, say "fred@aol.com" and john@domain.com" to somewhere else.
I now need to forward Fred's email to a server which does not have a domain name, only an IP number. If I change Fred's forwarding to "fred@xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" the mail fails with the following error :
Code: ----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors ----- mailtester@84.244.19.133 (reason: 550 Host unknown) (expanded from: <fred@domain.com>)
----- Transcript of session follows ----- 550 5.1.2 fred@xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx... Host unknown (Name server: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx: host not found)

I am currently facing a move from my existing web host, as they are altogether incompetent. Four of the last five days, my site has either been down, showing a suspended page, or redirecting to the main page of the host. (I am a legitimate business - not selling penis enlargement supplements)
So now, I need a good host, who will provide maximum value for dollar spent. My requirements are fairly simple. I need 5 SQL databases, the ability to install and configure a CMS of my choosing, and a site that is based in the US. (I need my site to be US based and listed, for very specific reasons)
I have used Rochen in the past, and am very happy with them. However, I want my sites on a different host, as several of my other sites are cross linked.
Finding services in such a competitive field is overwhelming. It's getting too hard to cut through the BS.
my friend and i are working on some web-based-commerce ideas and at current we're at godaddy.com. i can only imagine the vitriol they've rightfully earned here, as we decided to be done with them when the $30 SSL license they told us we could get one night quickly became $78 because there was a new "turboSSL server" package we needed, nevermind the guy the first time said with our hosting options we only needed to go through them for the SSL license, so basically, either the first guy lied to us or the second guy tried to hustle us, either way, i dont like companies whose sales model is revealed like the plot in a horror movie, so we're looking to go elsewhere.
basically we're looking for a virtual private server setup, although actually another question i'd love to ask someone is if joomla is better served on unix/linux or windows, with a few dozen accounts needed, and by accounts i mean domains and whatnot, as right now it's basically the blanket idea that you grab the names you need, or might go to if you change your mind on company names...
so basically, with all the people here talking about bad experiences with places, are there any good experience type places where someone can get competent tech support, no hustling in sales pitches, and quality service at a nice solid price?
again, sorry to show up and start asking for things, but i'm not necessarily well versed in these arts yet... rest assured once i have some information i shall contribute to the community and help others who are in my position now
We are using 4 apache and 8 weblogic. When little high load is coming on application (say 300 users), we are getting non-http response code (Non HTTP response code: org.apache.http.conn.HttpHostConnectException).And also all the load is generated from one single IP address. And we are using apache 2.2.
I have added a few additional IP's to my server, now all is working fine, but for the main site I want to add a specific IP for that one account to use?
Every IP i add seems to just be a shared IP and requires [url] when you goto the IP:[url]
I am running WHM/cPanel (latest) and my server has 8 IP addresses. The first IP is the main shaired address but cPanel appears to only let me add one site to each of the additional IP addresses.
Is there a way I can host multiple sites on each of the additional IP’s
I changed my sites IP address via cpanel, but now it doesn't show up in a web broswer, I check out cpanel's website for information about this issue, and they posted this:
"It may take up to 48 hours for DNS servers to register the change and the site may not be associated with the new IP address during that time period."
is that true? change the sites IP address will take 48 hours to show up? I figured since it was all local IP stuff, it'll be a instant change and working instantly. since the name servers are all the same, ect.
anyone shed some light. I just wanted to know if I should give it a day to start working? or as of right now, I feel like I need to fix a cpanel error... but if its true, then everything is ok
I have a growing website that needs to move from its current single-server setup to using a cluster of servers to deliver its dynamic pages.
My current host does not support load balancing among its servers, so I'm left to configure that on my own. Round-rovin DNS doesn't work for me as I'll need certain http requests to always go to the central server (the one with the master database).
My distro is Redhat 9, and I only access the server remotely through SSH. I'm using Apache 2 (and PHP and Mysql).
Any ideas on the simplest way to do this?
I've read a bit about LVS (http://www.linuxvirtualserver.org/) but it seems to require a kernel recompile, which is way beyond the things I would dare to try...
I have a task of converting a current Win Server based apache server from multiple IP based virtual hosts to a full name based virtual hosting.I'm famiilar with the steps but I was wondering if there are any gotchas in Windows that I should be aware of. It seems that now matter what I change in the new config it doesn't work or work as expected.

I run a forum with a modest amount of traffic along with a content management system handling the other sections of the website. I'm pretty sure the forum isn't the problem though.
The server load for this machine is almost never above a 1. Right now as I type this the load is at 0.17, but it's unbearably slow! Taking up to 16 seconds to load a single page.
What could be causing this? I'm a server n00b. Is there a setting I should be doing to one of my servers configuration files to make it run faster?
My website gets 30-40,000 visitors a day and these problems always occur during peak hours. It would be easier to deal with this though if not for the fact that the server load is always so low. How is it possible for the site to get so slow while the server load is always so low?
I have 2 reseller accounts with one provider, and in the last several days I have noticed that when you visit the site for the first time, my AV software detects a trojan on the site, but the code & html files are 100% clean!
I'm suspecting that there is something being injected into the scripts from the server daemons that's either running or something else.
I have seen 1 vps provider having very poor ping results in few online ping sites and they have a very cluster slow loading pages as well.
One of my friend has a package with them, the ping results are very poor even for him as well. Just made an traceroute found its on some node1.vpsprovider.com
Ya, one more major important similarity noticed was, the vps provider emails weren't set properly to yahoo mail, and my friend's emails sent from the server to yahoo weren't delivered as well.
So if the vps provider has poor content may be due to firewall or internal settings do the systems under the node also be affected?
I have no problems with my host so nothing to be worried about, but need to help him as he is just starting it out with a cheaper vps
when I try to go to a site of mine with the www like this one [url] It won't work but if I take out the www like this[url]it does work.
I'm not sure what could be causing this. As far as I'm aware everything is setup okay. I understand it's impossible for anyone who reads this to properly diagnose the issue without access to my server.
I've got the latest grsec stable, but i'm having a problem with getting ip_conntrack working.
I did the following with make menuconfig after copying my default kernels config file...
Networking -> Networking support -> Networking options -> Network packet filtering framework (Netfilter) -> Core Netfilter -> Configuration -> Netfilter Xtables support (required for ip_tables) -> "conntrack" connection tracking match support.
After a compile and reboot:
error: "net.ipv4.netfilter.ip_conntrack_generic_timeout" is an unknown key error: "net.ipv4.netfilter.ip_conntrack_icmp_timeout" is an unknown key error: "net.ipv4.netfilter.ip_conntrack_tcp_timeout_close" is an unknown key error: "net.ipv4.netfilter.ip_conntrack_tcp_timeout_time_wait" is an unknown key error: "net.ipv4.netfilter.ip_conntrack_tcp_timeout_last_ack" is an unknown key error: "net.ipv4.netfilter.ip_conntrack_tcp_timeout_close_wait" is an unknown key error: "net.ipv4.netfilter.ip_conntrack_tcp_timeout_fin_wait" is an unknown key error: "net.ipv4.netfilter.ip_conntrack_tcp_timeout_established" is an unknown key error: "net.ipv4.netfilter.ip_conntrack_tcp_timeout_syn_recv" is an unknown key error: "net.ipv4.netfilter.ip_conntrack_tcp_timeout_syn_sent" is an unknown key error: "net.ipv4.netfilter.ip_conntrack_udp_timeout" is an unknown key error: "net.ipv4.netfilter.ip_conntrack_udp_timeout_stream" is an unknown key error: "net.ipv4.netfilter.ip_conntrack_max" is an unknown key error: "net.ipv4.ip_conntrack_max" is an unknown key
I did a ls on /lib/modules/2.6.27.10-grsec/kernel/net/ipv4/netfilter and dont see the modules that i see in the default kernels...
I'm having issues after changing my system time and rebooting for whatever reason it didn't take effect but now my VMWare servers wont boot. I get this error when trying to run a vmware-cmd
[root@plexus ~]# /usr/bin/vmware-cmd -l /usr/bin/vmware-cmd: Could not connect to vmware-authd (VMControl error -14: Unexpected response from vmware-authd: 511 Error connecting to /usr/sbin/vmware-serverd process.) [root@plexus ~]#
also when i try logging into the web interface same error.
I've got a small box running as a fileserver with CentOS 5. Sometimes life is a little easier using a GUI for jobs rather than SSH.
As this is not accessible externally, I've got it to autologin to a non-privilaged user, and as part of that logon a VNC session is opened using the inbuilt remote desktop tool.
This was working perfectly, until I realised if I cold boot the server without a monitor attached, X11 wont start at all unless I attach a monitor to it.
I know I can start a VNC session from using vncserver, but this way allows me to logon to the server as if I was sat infront of it, rather than running an extra session.
Presumabley I can add something into /etc/X11/xorg.conf so X11 will start without a monitor hooked up?
