How To Dedicate An IP Address To A Site In Cpanel

Nov 18, 2008

I have added a few additional IP's to my server, now all is working fine, but for the main site I want to add a specific IP for that one account to use?

Every IP i add seems to just be a shared IP and requires [url]
when you goto the IP:[url]

it just points back to the main shared IP

Looking To Cut Costs Without Loosing Quality. Switch To Managed Cluster From Dedicate

May 19, 2009

actually we are hosting around 130-140 sites on a dedicated server in spain. We are paying 325 € (442 $) per month for the server, 250gb of backup space included, plus 105 € (143 $) per month for admin of the box, that help us to migrate new sites, install scripts, hack attacks, etc.

That includes cpanel, fantastico, q9300 cpu, 4 gb ram, 2x500 gb sata in raid 1, 100 mb port and 16 ip's. I know we can get more for less, but the connectivity in spain is fast for our clients, very reliable, and the phone support of datacenter is fast when we need it.

Apart from that, i have to pay for rvskin, rvsitebuilder and easyantispam.

What i want to know, is there a way i could get a good european host with good network uptime and datacenter support if needed (i.e. ram needs to be changed, kvm doesn't work, etc) and, if possible, good management (although i can continue to pay what i pay).

I was thinking that as our box is underused (176 gb home dir, around 200 gb total, avg load for week 0.97) maybe a managed cluster host could help to cut our costs greatly (at least 30%) maintaining or even improving speed & quality of service? or even grid hosting or vps?

Site Won't Load Based On IP Address

Apr 19, 2008

I recently put up a website and after about a week, I suddenly can not access it. The site went down after the host had a problem with the http on the server and it never came back for me but it works for everyone else. It times out while trying to connect in both the web browser and FTP client. The problem appears to be related to my internet connection, because the site won't load on any computer that is using my internet. When I disconnect from my cable and use my cellphone as a modem, the site works fine. The site works for everyone else that has tried though.

Besides changing my IP address, how do I go about getting the site to work?

Site IP Address Change Takes 48 Hours To Work

Apr 10, 2008

I changed my sites IP address via cpanel, but now it doesn't show up in a web broswer, I check out cpanel's website for information about this issue, and they posted this:

"It may take up to 48 hours for DNS servers to register the change and the site may not be associated with the new IP address during that time period."

is that true? change the sites IP address will take 48 hours to show up? I figured since it was all local IP stuff, it'll be a instant change and working instantly. since the name servers are all the same, ect.

anyone shed some light. I just wanted to know if I should give it a day to start working? or as of right now, I feel like I need to fix a cpanel error... but if its true, then everything is ok

Apache :: How To Use Virtual Host IP Address In Request To Remote Address

Feb 6, 2015

My customer has an external facing Apache server that is acting as a reverse proxy to two internal applications. They have:

- external addresses for each app which resolve to different ip addresses, so app1.their_domain.com and app2.their_domain.com resolve to 77.3.170.10 and 77.3.170.11 respectively.
- the Apache server has two network interfaces with ip addresses 192.168.10.10 and 192.168.10.11
- the external ip addresses resolve to the above internal addresses
- the firewall between the Apache server and the internal app servers is configured to allow traffic from 192.168.10.10 to reach app_server1, and traffic from 192.168.10.11 to reach app_server2, both using port 7777.

I have configured a virtual host in httpd.conf for each ip, i.e.

Code:

<VirtualHost 192.168.10.10:80>
...
ProxyPass /app http://app_server1:7777/app
ProxyPassReverse /app http://app_server1:7777/app
RewriteRule ^/$ /app/app1 [R,L]
...
<VirtualHost>

and

Code:

<VirtualHost 192.168.10.11:80>
...
ProxyPass /app http://app_server2:7777/app
ProxyPassReverse /app http://app_server2:7777/app
RewriteRule ^/$ /app/app2 [R,L]
...
<VirtualHost>

This works fine in that the external address are being routed to the correct application, however the firewall is blocking requests to the second app as it appears the requests are coming from the Apache servers 'primary' ip address 192.168.10.10 instead of 192.168.10.11.

Is it possible to send requests using the ip address from the relevant VirtualHost?

Apache 2.2

How Do I Setup A New Ip Address As My Server's Main Ip Address

Jul 26, 2007

I just bought a new ip address and want to setup this new ip as my server's main ip, making the 'existing main ip' as the secondary ip.

Which means, this new ip will be the server's default ip address for all services, including when connecting to other server.

I'm using CentOs 4.5 and swsoft's panels: HSPcomplete & Virtuozzo Power Panel, and Webmin.

CPanel NS IP Addresses Shared With Default IP Address

May 17, 2008

I'm setting up a cPanel server and have an initial 5 IPs with the server. By default, it assigned two IPs to the nameservers, but I'm getting a bit confused as to best practice policies. Is it a bad idea to have your nameserver IPs being used for accounts?

I imagine the answer is yes, it is a bad idea, as I've not seen it done by others. I would guess the biggest reason would be that you wouldn't want a bad acocunt to get the IP blocked.

I'd like to hear opinions on the matter, as cPanel seems to be set up to automatically assign the first IP available to both the default account IP and the first nameserver.
