I 'm new user of LSN Dedicated server.
I have instal image sharing web and run well. But when i install my drupal site, my DS give me some error with that CMS.
1. First time, when i'v tried to open it, but browser always ask me to download it.
2. And then i've tried to change .htaccess and remove about addhandler, i can load my web. But not well. The page displayed just cache page. if i tried other page, just blank displayed no html or php tag displayed at source.
config my server? I think there is something wrong with my apache and/or PHP configuration.
Can anyone with previous exp. in Video Hosting/Streaming provide me some info on THE CONFIG AND BANDWIDTH REQUIREMENTS FOR ffmpeg hosting for youtube like site?
Here are the basic things-to-know & Server(s) Funtions:
1. Do Video Conversions from AVI, MKV, etc to FLV/MP4
2. Stream out these videos for viewers.
3. Expected Traffic: Quite High (1 Million Visitors/mo)
So can anyone suggest me the most suitable Server Config, Bandwidth (I'd prefer dedicated-unmetered b.w) and Host for this?
Also can anyone provide me info on the amount of video conversions and traffic a single server (with your recommended config) can handle?
When i do httpd -S i notice one of my sites show with 2 config source. but i just config one file for the site.
for example:
[root@apachesrv ~]# httpd -S | grep devel.site.com
default server devel.site.com (/etc/httpd/sites/000-default.site.com:1)
port 80 namevhost devel.site.com (/etc/httpd/sites/000-default.site.com:1)
port 80 namevhost devel.site.com (/etc/httpd/sites/devel.site.com:1)
the problem is the following, when i do reload and in this moment the config is bind this result, the site is blank.
Why it shows me this.
version of apache
Server version: Apache/2.2.15 (Unix)
im running centos 5 64 bit, cpanel
AMD Phenom 9600
the load is showing as :
* Load Averages: 1.13 1.09 1.02
I don't know where the load is coming from. Normally im getting 0.00 or below .5
I clicked on that link show cpu processes but they are showing 0
I checked apache connections and no load too
identify where the load reported in WHM is coming from
I have one dedicated server i have problem with gzip in my server load cpu and memory server is very high
UserDomain%CPU%MEMMysql Processesroot
9.6425.562.0 Top Process%CPU 95.7gzip Top Process%CPU 72.5gzip Top Process%CPU 34.8gzip
I am trying to do something that I believe is fairly non-standard. What I am looking to do is create a system where I can rapidly deploy web sites without having to restart named and Apache. For example, if a customer completes a process, I want to be able to turn that site on immediately using a temporary domain (somecompany.example.com or othercompany.example.com).
With some programming language (hopefully PHP) I would like to get the customer up and running with their site immediately without having to restart the server. While doing some research I found I could use MyDNS which uses MySQL to manage DNS data instead of configuration files. MyDNS can be updated on the fly.
For Apache I have seen wildcard configurations, but everyone seems to be suggesting the use of mod rewrite. I would prefer that the domain maps directly to a specific folder:
somecompany.example.com -> /sites/somecompany/htdocs
(*.example.com -> /sites/*/htdocs)
Does anyone know how I might do this with Apache. It seems similar to user directories (example.com/~username -> /home/*/htdocs)
I have a linux server that is only hosting one site , and although the httpd and mysql are working well , then the server load is high and when I restart the server the server load is high till the swap accelerates to 100% and then it uses the memory alot.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhat is the average memory/cput usage for httpd connections.?One of the site is using 2.8% memory. Is it acceptable for 1 GB RAM servers?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a growing website that needs to move from its current single-server setup to using a cluster of servers to deliver its dynamic pages.
My current host does not support load balancing among its servers, so I'm left to configure that on my own. Round-rovin DNS doesn't work for me as I'll need certain http requests to always go to the central server (the one with the master database).
My distro is Redhat 9, and I only access the server remotely through SSH. I'm using Apache 2 (and PHP and Mysql).
Any ideas on the simplest way to do this?
I've read a bit about LVS (http://www.linuxvirtualserver.org/) but it seems to require a kernel recompile, which is way beyond the things I would dare to try...
I recently put up a website and after about a week, I suddenly can not access it. The site went down after the host had a problem with the http on the server and it never came back for me but it works for everyone else. It times out while trying to connect in both the web browser and FTP client. The problem appears to be related to my internet connection, because the site won't load on any computer that is using my internet. When I disconnect from my cable and use my cellphone as a modem, the site works fine. The site works for everyone else that has tried though.
Besides changing my IP address, how do I go about getting the site to work?
My machine is pretty good. Here are the specs:
Intel Xeon-Woodcrest 5148-DualCore
3 gigs of ram
250GB Western Digital WD Cavia
I run a forum with a modest amount of traffic along with a content management system handling the other sections of the website. I'm pretty sure the forum isn't the problem though.
The server load for this machine is almost never above a 1. Right now as I type this the load is at 0.17, but it's unbearably slow! Taking up to 16 seconds to load a single page.
What could be causing this? I'm a server n00b. Is there a setting I should be doing to one of my servers configuration files to make it run faster?
My website gets 30-40,000 visitors a day and these problems always occur during peak hours. It would be easier to deal with this though if not for the fact that the server load is always so low. How is it possible for the site to get so slow while the server load is always so low?
I currently have 256MB RAM on a VPS. I was wondering, if I upgrade to 512MB RAM will that increase load times on my website?
If so, should one expect the load times be significantly greater - maybe twice as fast?
I would just like to no how you would load balance 2 sites. Would this be done via dns settings. EG
instead of seting the domain to something like
ns1.server1.com ns2.server1.com
would it be?
n1.server1.com ns2.server2.com
I have 2 reseller accounts with one provider, and in the last several days I have noticed that when you visit the site for the first time, my AV software detects a trojan on the site, but the code & html files are 100% clean!
I'm suspecting that there is something being injected into the scripts from the server daemons that's either running or something else.
Anyone have any suggestions?
what can make site load faster other than replication
(well lets assume that design wise it is ok and doesnt content heavy contents...)
i have heard that increasing networking speed at the server level can make site much faster...
is it true..?
is there any tweak bandwidth wise...
suppose we get 1tb bandwidth per month compared to 100gb ...
will that make site faster...
we want to host a photogalley site...which is fast or images are shown in faster way....
say i have lot of traffic from USA, does my site load slower if hosted in netherlands or uk?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have seen 1 vps provider having very poor ping results in few online ping sites and they have a very cluster slow loading pages as well.
One of my friend has a package with them, the ping results are very poor even for him as well. Just made an traceroute found its on some node1.vpsprovider.com
Ya, one more major important similarity noticed was, the vps provider emails weren't set properly to yahoo mail, and my friend's emails sent from the server to yahoo weren't delivered as well.
So if the vps provider has poor content may be due to firewall or internal settings do the systems under the node also be affected?
I have no problems with my host so nothing to be worried about, but need to help him as he is just starting it out with a cheaper vps
The memory usage on my server is fine, I watched the CPUs for a long time and watched the server load also, the CPUs were easily riding along not often going over 20% (I have 2) yet the thing is, the server load is very strangely going mad... It's rarely under 6.0 (2 cpus) and sometimes goes into 20s, yet the server doesn't slow, nothing stops working but it simply goes red and shows it's bad news.
I've been told that the only other thing that might be causing this is the hard drives... I have 2x160GB 7200rpm hard drives - not sure if they are SATA etc..
If anyone has any ideas as to why the server load is so high - but everything else is fine -
I have a VPS. And have had an issue both when it was 1Gig and now I recently downgraded it to 768m, because I am moving some sites to a dedicated.
However, the part I am having trouble grasping is that when I look at graphs from Munin, it will typically always show 200-400MB free memory (and free -m and top agrees with munin), but Munin shows 'committed' memory that is above the total Ram on the VPS and once the 'committed' ram exceeds the VPS limit, processes start failing.
So, why is 'committed' memory exceeding the RAM on my VPS, when Munin, free -m and top all show there is free memory available?
Code:
root@server [~]# free -m
total used free shared buffers cached
Mem: 768 449 318 0 0 0
-/+ buffers/cache: 449 318
Swap: 0 0 0
Here's a graph that munin produces that shows the 'committed' memory exceeding the total memory.

I just got a new server Dual E5520 with 6GB RAM, SAS 15k rpm raid10. It's running well. However, the memory usage is just around 2.5GB, even when I have more traffic. Here is the kernel info
Quote:
# uname -a
Linux server2.[url]2.6.18-128.1.10.el5 #1 SMP Thu May 7 10:35:59 EDT 2009 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Any idea that we can put more content into memory?
I've been having trouble with my VPS for a while now. In the QoS alerts page in Virtuozzo it seems to be a problem with numtcpsock and tcprcvbuf, mainly numtcpsock.
Copy these into the browser:
i18.photobucket.com/albums/b106/gnatfish/qosnumtcpsock2.jpg
And when i run cat /proc/user_beancounters:
i18.photobucket.com/albums/b106/gnatfish/beancounters2.jpg
This line is particularly scary:
numtcpsock 164 164 166 166 7321
What do i need to do, to get the website running again? It's only one site on the vps a proxy. So i thought a vps would be able to handle one proxy.
I just ordered a server from serverbeach that should have come with 2 GB but I see that this one comes with 8 GB
Unfortunately, I seem to be missing 7 GB of ram.
Installed Physical Memory: 8 GB
Total Physical Memory: 1 GB
Windows 2008 Server Web 32-bit
Now, being a 32-bit system, I should see 3-4 GB of ram right?
Any idea why only 1 GB is available for the OS?

Anyone know of some good server load testers ( commercial )?
Im not looking for application based load testing, I need real web server load testing... need to see how much traffic this one site can take before it cries.
I have a 512mb DV server with Mediatemple, which I am running 24 (ish) domains off (most of them static websites) and a teamspeak server. I would say MAX theres 10 users online at a time)
Now, I know its running out of memory because i get frequent QoS Alerts in plesk (kmemsize is apparently the memory size):
Oct 01, 2009 11:52:57 AMBlack zonekmemsize
I have attached my results (when I did top).
My questions are:
1. Should I be expecting to be out of memory running what I am?
2. Is there a way to see the problem domains (memory wise)?
3. Are there any ways I can reduce the memory? (I have followed this already:
[url]
4. Where is the memory usage coming from (I am finding it very hard to understand TOP)
Attached is a (badly) drawn diagram of two sites, connected by a vpn.
The site to the left, is network 10.0.0.0/24 which runs a linux server as the router for the network.
The site to the right, is network 10.1.0.0/24 which runs a windows 2003 server as the router for the network.
Now, my problem is, the clients behind the windows 2003 server can ping any machine on the first network because i setup a static route to route all traffic to 10.0.0.0/24 over the vpn interface.
now, my problem is, only the linux server can ping any machine on the windows 2003 network, any client behind the linux server cant seem to route over the interface.
I have the following route on the linux server: .....
Starting point: a working site using a shared IPv4, dedicated IPv6, and SSL. HTTP and HTTPS work, the latter only using SNI of course.
The good news: If I simply allocate an IP resource of 1 to a subscription it is pulled from the pool, assigned to the service node, assigned to the web site, DNS is updated, and the site is automatically changed to using a Dedicated IPv4 and Dedicated IPv6.
The bad news: visitors land on the default web site of the service node, with the default SSL certificate.
Other info: I can't ping the new IP, even though it shows in "ip a l" and /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0:0. [edited]
After the IP assignment, it is still installed, and /etc/httpd/conf/plesk.conf.d/ip_default/domainname.conf shows the new certificate is being used.
However, a second set of VirtualHost entries is created in server.conf for this IP for ports 80 and 443, with NameVirtualHost enabled on the new IP. The port 443 entry uses the default certificate. Apache's setup this default VirtualHost entry will override the web site configuration because Apache is listening on port 443 with the wrong cert.
If I go to "Change webspace settings" and toggle to Shared IPv4, Dedicated IPv6 the site works again via HTTPS, and Dedicated IPv4 and Dedicated IPv6 breaks it again. Setting the SSL cert to None and back again does not work.
Setting the SSL cert to None, changing to a dedicated IP, and enabling SSL results in the server being inexplicably inaccessible...browsers no longer connect to either the default site or the correct site, and I don't see any entries in the vhosts's logs.
