We are planning on offering Windows hosting soon, and are in the process of testing possible control panel options. Has anyone had experience with both of these? Which one did you find "better"?
We don't need a billing system, as we already have one - so the billing system within Helm would not be used.
One of my clients needs a dedicated server. I already know SoftLayer is really good from personal experience, but he needs both a Managed box and a Backup Solution, neither of which SoftLayer offers. I know they offer a 1Gig lockbox, but it's your responsibility to make sure files are transferred daily.
Basically what he needs is the following
- Server 2003
- As fully managed as possible because I am not on hand 24/7
- A control panel to handle everything. Plesk and Helm work. I'd say Plesk since they now seem to own HELM
- A backup solution at the very least once a week, once a day is better
- 24/7 Technical support with a phone number to call (not just ticket) in case of emergency.
Please let me know any suggests of hosts you use that were good. I have used many hosts in my life but only really liked SoftLayer (lacking the 2 features said) and AxisHost (no live number) so really need some feed back on this.
I had installed Helm V4 on my windows server and then encountered a few problems
I had installed the web server, mysql etc an then made a client account, when trying to add a domain its says that the domain can't be installed?
when i click "Email Accounts" section in Helm see "Failed to get Email Accounts",also cant add any new Email Account,

In Helm, how do I establish a temporary URL for a client to publish with FrontPage before flipping their DNS from their old host to the new one? I'm new to Helm, but I don't see the controls. My reseller support is DOA for the past 6 hours.

I can setup the mysql database and user but I cannot seem to change the permissions for the user and I think this is causing the install problem.

I currently have a reseller account on a windows server powered by helm. The provider currently has a mail problem which has resulted in several of my emails going walk abouts.
What I want to know is, is it possible to redirect my mail and bypass it from the problem mail server to another email address such as my ISP's?
Can I use the mail forward option in helm, or does mail still go through the mail server?
Can I create a new mx record on the windows server to point mail to the ISP email address or will that still go through the mail server?
Or do I have to create a mx record with my domain registrar?

I need to setup 5 email accounts on my domain, each will use IMAP and store messages on server, so total space taken by each account will be 2-5 GB.
I have decided to go with eurovps.com as I'm close to them and ping is fast.
What is the best solution for IMAP and large email accounts: Linux Cpanel, Linux Plesk or Windows Plesk?
Each account will be accessed by 2 people differently by Thunderbird and occasionally by webmail, so nice webmail is a plus.
I have a server running Linux and PLESK, and am interested in switching to Windows and PLESK. Will the backups made under Linux restore under Windows?

i got plesk 8.0, and trying to update with the updater to more recent versions.
updating fails.
I tried with incremental updates (8.0 > 8.1 > 8.2 etc.), but it never works.
I haven't really touched the configuration since I got the server.

I installed a Plesk vps and APF firewall.
If apf is enabled, I cannot access Plesk. I get this error via virtuozzo panel (vzpp)
If I disable apf, it works fine. Not sure what's wrong here.

I get this error when firewall is enabled (duplicated with apf and csf, tried both). Error goes away if firewall is disabled.

I'm trying to install Plesk on an OpenVZ VE. OpenVZ node is running 2.6.22 kernel on CentOS5 64 bit. VPS is CentOS4 32 bit.

I've bought a windows vps, I'm very newbie with it. My host told me that asp.Net 2.0 is installed on my vps, though I may need to set my site to run using it within IIS.
I've trying to read the forums, google, etc. and I don't find where or what do I have to do to set the asp within IIS with plesk.
With Cpanel, when i setup a new webhosting account you can access the webspace at ns1.xxxxx.com/~username.. you can also connect to ftp and upload your site using this before propagation takes place so there is no downtime.
i have just started using plesk and have gone through all the pdf guides and cant find where it mentions how to access the webspace that i have setup through the ip address. im trying to look at the site and connect via dreamweaver.
can anyone assist me. i have tried ns1.xxxxx.com/~username and hoped it worked the same as cpanel but it doesnt seem to.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am currently having problems performing FTP on my site. The web user section is under "root" and not under the virtual domain owner. How do I change the permissions back to the virtual domain owner in this instance?
My standard FTP for the domain only works if I SFTP, so does this mean the actual domain has gone under root aswell? how do I change this?
Also - I get this when trying to create even a directory in my virtual plesk account while logged in:
Unable to create directory /web_us: filemng failed: mkdir: cannot create directory
`/var/www/vhosts/mydomain.com/web_us': Permission denied filemng: Error occured during /bin/mkdir command
I just got plesk installed on my dedicated server and when I try and access the site it give me the following error

I have been doing a bit of testing of MS SQL on Plesk, and I have a local database (MS SQL Standard 2005) and I can make a create script which references MDF files. However I'm not sure how I would import this into MS SQL? Whats the best way to export data from MS SQL and then import to a new server?

Where would the my.cnf file be kept for Plesk?
I found one in /etc, but the max_allowed_packet option was there.
I have a server with Plesk ask Admin Panel. Now i have used my 100 domains and my hosting company is asking to much money to upgrade.
Is there no way i can add a domain under a domain account like you can on directadmin ?
Or is there some other trick?
Does anyone know why you have to specify the Disk Space in both the Cleint area and also the Domain area within Plesk? Also for one client I have specified 250MB, but in the email user it says 'unlimited' any ideas?
