I have setup a new account through a reseller that supplies a shared IP. The way I have installed WordPress in the past is to use "localhost" as the MySQL database host name.
The problem is that I want to complete the installation and style the site before I transfer the domain name and propagate the DNS settings. I am currently receiving errors that say "Error establishing a database connection".
I have also tried several variations of the shared IP address in place of the "localhost". So instead of using "localhost" I have tried using the link if I were to preview the site, for example [url]
Can someone tell me if it is possible to replace the string entry of "localhost" with a number or something else so that I can complete the installation of WordPress?
Did a fresh WordPress install on a subscription. I was able to install new plugins via WordPress, and directly upload a theme file without any issues. However, when I tried to use the WordPress import too (uploading an 11MB XML file) I received an Internal Server Error, which brought the entire site down. No part of the WordPress site is accessible. Odd.
Checked the Plesk log - no errors there.Nothing in the IIS logs that shows an error either. When looking at the domain's logs, I see the 500 entry logged, but don't see any sort of reason for it having happened, to be able to resolve:
I can't get MAMP to work. I sadly uninstalled and AppZapped MAMP and reinstalled it. Now I can't get WordPress to install. I can make a DB on PHP MyAdmin but I get "not found" when I try the WordPress install. I can't get the PHP info? line to work either. How do you troubleshoot MAMP?
how to install older version of WordPress - version 3.7 has just come out and it is the only version I can install via the Plesk panel but unfortunately half of the themes out there only support up to 3.6
Window server 2012 r2: I installed wordpress on a domain using plesk. Seemed to work correctly. But when I went to the site www.example.com/wp-admin, the native or default wordpress install started up. I could find no way to bypass this, so I just re-entered all the same settings.
The result was that I ended up with 2 sets of database tables, one set named with my chosen prefix wp_blahblah_ and one set prefixed with wp_blahblah_wp_.
Not good, so I deleted the later set. Wordpress seems to be working, despite one error on the tables I can't reproduce.
I create a new domain then use Plesk Applications tab to install Wordpress. It shows the message:
Code: Error: Unable to install the app because its installation requirements are not met. Contact your hosting provider to resolve this problem. Requirements PHP extension The 'mysql' extension was not found.
However, php is installed and phpinfo shows that the mysql extension is installed. I try different versions of php, cgi/fastcgi but ll fail with the same error. I install Wordpress via FTP and it works fine.
There are knowledge-base articles relating to this error but they are for Linux and the solutions don't work in this case:
[URL] ... [URL] ...
Maybe the Wordpress database has to be created before using Plesk to install Wordpress? If so, what should the database name be? How does Plesk know what the name of the database is that it should use? Why doesn't Plesk just create a database to use?
I will have or not problems, (plesk compatibility) with this tool: URL....URL-Rewrite...I need install ModRewrite to use "Permanent Links" with some scripts like "Wordpress". I have try search on the web any alternative, and i found this.
I like know if this "URL-Rewrite" from Microsoft will cause me or not problems with my Plesk 11.5.Additional i like know, if i can create a file "web.config" and this file will accept all my custom configurations?.For example to activate the URL-Rewrite on a Wordpress Install:
If a Plesk admin wants to install Wordpress, the installation always fails.
1. Select Server Management -> Tools & Settings -> Security -> Security Policy 2. Select (*) Very strong 3. Confirm with OK 4. Select Hosting Services -> Domains 2. Select Domain 3. Select Button Install Apps 4. Select Wordpress in All Available Applications 5. Select Install 6. Error message is shown! Error: Installation of WordPress at http://lyl-canbys.de/blog failed. Your password is not complex enough. According to the server policy, the minimal password strength is Very strong. To improve the password strength, use numbers, upper and lower-case characters, and special characters like !,@,#,$,%,^,&,*,?,_,~
But the password was complex enough. with 20 numbers+charcters+special chars!
I i lower Plesks Security Policy to (*) Strong, the Wordpress installation works. But lowering Security with password length 8 is not desireable.
when i click "Email Accounts" section in Helm see "Failed to get Email Accounts",also cant add any new Email Account, Helm Log:
Cannot create ActiveX component. at Microsoft.VisualBasic.Interaction.CreateObject(String ProgId, String ServerName) at MailEnable.Administration.Mailbox.GetAutoResponderStatus() at WHA.Helm.Providers.MailEnableProvider.MailEnableEngine.GetAccount(String name) at WHA.Helm.Providers.MailEnableProvider.MailEnableEngine.GetAccountList() at MailEnableProvider.ListEmailAccounts(ProviderData CommandData) ......
In Helm, how do I establish a temporary URL for a client to publish with FrontPage before flipping their DNS from their old host to the new one? I'm new to Helm, but I don't see the controls. My reseller support is DOA for the past 6 hours.
We are planning on offering Windows hosting soon, and are in the process of testing possible control panel options. Has anyone had experience with both of these? Which one did you find "better"?
We don't need a billing system, as we already have one - so the billing system within Helm would not be used.
I am investigating options with respect to a VPS. I am looking for a provider that is extremely reliable, uses Windows 2003, HELM and offers MS SQL databases as well.
I just found there are vps with Plesk and Virtuozzo. Anybody know vps with helm or dotnetpanel support. i am a newbie and i don't know if the technology is possible.
I currently have a reseller account on a windows server powered by helm. The provider currently has a mail problem which has resulted in several of my emails going walk abouts.
What I want to know is, is it possible to redirect my mail and bypass it from the problem mail server to another email address such as my ISP's?
Can I use the mail forward option in helm, or does mail still go through the mail server?
Can I create a new mx record on the windows server to point mail to the ISP email address or will that still go through the mail server?
Or do I have to create a mx record with my domain registrar?
My domain is with godaddy and it setup with nameservers.
One of my clients needs a dedicated server. I already know SoftLayer is really good from personal experience, but he needs both a Managed box and a Backup Solution, neither of which SoftLayer offers. I know they offer a 1Gig lockbox, but it's your responsibility to make sure files are transferred daily.
Basically what he needs is the following
- Server 2003
- As fully managed as possible because I am not on hand 24/7
- A control panel to handle everything. Plesk and Helm work. I'd say Plesk since they now seem to own HELM
- A backup solution at the very least once a week, once a day is better
- 24/7 Technical support with a phone number to call (not just ticket) in case of emergency.
Please let me know any suggests of hosts you use that were good. I have used many hosts in my life but only really liked SoftLayer (lacking the 2 features said) and AxisHost (no live number) so really need some feed back on this.
Just logged in to Spam Karma 2 (for wordpress) and noticed this message inside ht e2nd chance Captcha Check of Spam Karma 2:
Your install of PHP seems to be missing the GD library (or a more recent version is needed). You should ask your host to update the GD module for PHP and disable the Captcha module until then.
Can we get our server management company to install this? More importantly, wanted to know the risk of installing the GD library. It's not going to cause any critical things to break is it?
