Is There An "email Host" That Lets You Send Lots Of Emails
May 10, 2009
I have a list of a few thousands subscribers and want to use a joomla component to handle my sign ups and announcements. Problem is my web host only allows a certain amount of emails per hour, and a cap on emails per day. Are there any email hosts, meaning, a service I can sign up with that will allow me to send these emails? I don't want anything complex like aweber and constant contact. I just want the articles on my site's news section to become the actual announcement/newsletter. I thought about Feedburner, but they don't let you import your subscribers.. I wouldn't be sending announcements every day, but perhaps a couple of times per month..
We are running an application on IIS that sends out 4-500 emails per day via a smarthost, but nearly 11,000 every weekend. None of this is bulk mail...
We need a new smarthost provider ASAP, as our current host is discontinuing this service this week, and we were just notified.
I'm currently with HostNexus and I've been told by their tech support that I need to submit a ticket every time I want one of my databases backed up. This is not going to work anymore and I need to find a new host that will allow me to create and FTP the backups to my home server.
My requirements: At least 1GB disk space Bandwidth won't matter as much right now Allow me to have at least 15-20 domains on my account, I run a few different sites Allow me to create a decent number of MSSQL databases (more than 5) No MSSQL size quote (just let it subtract from the overall disk space) A few MySQL databases Both ASP.NET 2.0 and PHP 5
I need to be able to run that MSSQL backup via a Scheduled Task or something
I pay $20 but could go up to $30 if it has all the features + more space. DiscountASP.net seemed to have it all but I could only host one site per account and that just won't work. I did LOVE the thought of having a web service I could use to back up the DBs,
I am programming a bulk email sending for a client. I need a hosting company who can allow me to use Require 'Mail.php' to send about 5000 emails continuosly without fail.
I recently moved a site from a hosting company to a VPS. I updated the name servers with the domain name registrar and the transfer went smoothly.
However one thing does have me puzzled. As I understand it (and correct me if I am wrong) my new hosting company are now the authority for my zone and should have a zone file which points my domain name at one of their IP addresses? However my previous host has a webbased email panel - if I log in to it I can still send email (but not recieve). This has confused me as I would have thought that my new ISP would have a zone file with an MX record for my email? How is this possible?
1) What would you guys say is average in terms of the # of emails in the Mail Queue?
2) What steps can be taken to tighten it up? If I start with a clean slate, it only takes about a week or less for my mail queue to reach 1000 or more. Most of it seems like junk mail.
I use a host that gives me way more bandwidth and space than I need, but it is still super slow. It's Dreamhost who is known for charging very low fees and promising the world. Although my sites do load and I get unlimited everything pretty much, I can't stand the slow loads.
They have offered me virtualization of my server so I can create my own virtual server with 150Mhz and 150MB of dedicated CPU/memory for $15 more a month... do you think that will speed me up a lot or should I just suck it up and pay for a better host that doesn't pimp themselves out so badly?
I run a large service on 2 machines (we're talking 8x2.66Ghz processing power, 4-6GB ram, etc), however we are thinking about creating a node/clustered setup to help spread the load, bandwidth, mysql (having one server for hundreds of thousands of databases is not wise it seems :p), diskspace etc. Lots of machines just seems to be a cheaper and more powerful option.
Would you advise going with lots of lower end machines, or just a few mid-range machines.
Here is what I propose:
3 of these Dual Xeon 3GHZ Dual-Core (4x3GHz) 3GB RAM 500GB Sata Drive 4000 GB Bandwidth 100mbit
or
4 of these XEON X3220 QUAD CORE 2.4GHZ 1066FSB 2GB DDR2 RAM (Upgradeable) 250GB HDD 2000GB Bandwidth 100mbit
or
7 of these Dual Xeon 3.06 Ghz 2GB DDR2 RAM 250GB SATA 2000GB BW/MONTH 100mbit
All of the above are roughly similar prices in total.
im tryying to setup a forum, but i cannot use email verification, every time i try to send a email it gets bounced back with these details, no matter who i try to send to,hoster has changed to several ips wiht same prob?

You are receiving this email because your email address was entered as an email test at Pc -Mod.
The first step of this email test script has been completed. However, a formatting test is still necessary:
A paragraph break. A single line break.
Another paragraph break. Another single line break. Another single line break.
If the above lines look correct, you are finished. The email features on your server are setup correctly.
If this email is run together on one line, there is possibly a configuration error with your mail server. Please ensure it is configured correctly.

I'm having difficulty sending an email to another email address (with a different domain) which is on the same VPS.The trouble is, on the other domain's VPS control panel, within the DNS settings, the MX records have been pointed externally (to an exchange server). Their email is turned off. But bizarrely, their mailbox is full.
It seems as though Plesk is ignoring the MX records, and sending MY email internally to the OTHER domain's mailbox on the same VPS.How do I get Plesk to send my mail to the correct EXTERNAL MX records?
Every month or two, we like to send our members a newsletter-type email which just informs them about what's happening over in our website and community. We have over 350,000 accounts registered, so there's quite a few emails to be sent each time.
I'm currently using cPanel with Exim and SwiftMailer to send the members an email through PHP. The way I do it currently is import all the email addresses to a separate table then email 500-1000 at a time. This is controlled by a Cron job.
I'm finding Exim to be extremely slow and the queue has built up to 190,000 as I type this (the email process started last week).
My question is this. What's the best software, whether it be a program or a script of some form, to send an email to such amount of users? Or if anyone knows any way to 'tweak' Exim to handle such mass-emails.
to send 3.6 million emails over a week period of time. it is for a client that wants to send an email about their new account policies. these users are clients from different domains. how can this be done.
They have an exchange server onsite. should they use that server or do you recommend going through a service? if so whom do you recommend that is good?
Do you recommend going with a dedciated server for email? what server specs? the email will not have an attachment just a few lines and a link to their own site. with whatever solution you recommend? please give me price ranges?
Dell and such enterprise companies send emails all the time with that many emails and more to external clients... how do they do it.
I just do not want to get black listed and want to make sure all or most of they clients get it.
I tried to send an email to Hotmail.com and I get error messages. However, I can send an email to another email address that forwards to hotmail and it arrives correctly.
When sending via SquirrelMail I get:
This message was created automatically by mail delivery software.
A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:
%%%%%%%@%%%%%.com SMTP error from remote mail server after MAIL FROM:<%%%%%%%@%%%%%.com> SIZE=1813: host mx3.hotmail.com [65.54.244.200]: 550 SC-001 Mail rejected by Windows Live Hotmail for policy reasons. I have correct TXT dns entries. Doesn't matter what email I sent to hotmail, they all get rejected. They don't even appear in the junk box
A client of mine has an Exchange server in the company, for sending mails he like to setup smarthost in the Exchange server to relay the outgoing mails from a third party mail relaying service provider.
I've looked through my exim logs a number of times and I see emails being sent out with "from:" fields with email addresses of other domains. Usually they are spam related and fraudulent.
How can exim be setup to only send out emails that have localdomains in their from fields?
E.g. if I have account bob.com on my server then the owner of bob.com can only send out emails "xxxx@bob.com" no matter what else he tries to do that's all exim will send out.
How can you get exim to do this? I have been using filtering to block commonly spammed domains like aol.com hotmail.com etc - any emails sent out with these in their from fields are filtered and blocked - but rather building up a larger and larger filter of commonly abused domains - why not just block everything except domains on your server.
My VPS is working perfectly for over one year. However the mail server of my VPS is always not working about 3 - 4 times a week since three weeks ago. I can login the webmail accounts, just cannot receive emails and send emails.
Started after last update 12.0.18 Update #44 (on CloudLinux): I can send mail wia created mailboxes, but sites can not send mail, contact forms say "Failed to send your message." maillog file also do not indicate sending any messages from domains. Wordpress restore password claims:
"The e-mail could not be sent. Possible reason: your host may have disabled the mail() function." php.ini is default: safe_mode = Off disable_functions = is empty
The issue about not sending mail from domains was - old versions of LVE anf CageFS are incompatible with latest plesk update, updating them caused all sites in Cagefs to throw error 500 with log string: "SecureLVE jail error Invalid regexps: no match for path to base home directory". It was fixed by changing cagefs.base.home.dirs regexp to the real sites folder location. Enabling cagefs back removed one of the files it shouldn't:
"Removed file /var/cagefs/81/xxx/etc/php.d/soap.ini" So be carefull to place necesssary files back. For now everything works. Click to expand... Click for original message
I just moved from DirectAdmin to Parallels Plesk and already love the interface. Much better than DA in my opinion.
Let's get to the problem:
When I make a new email account I can login to this account on webmail.domain.com (roundcube) and receive and send emails. Now when I want to use this account on Apple Mail i'm not sure which ports I need to use.
For the incoming mail server I use: 143 For the outgoing mail server I use: 587
Now when I look at my mailbox it gives me a warning sign. The outgoing mail server gives a green dot, but the incoming mail server gives me a red dot.
- So sending mails works. - And receiving mails don't work.
I am using IMAP and have enabled the SSL box. I don't know if i need to check this, because i'm not running on an SSL certificate.
Are the ports that i'm using right? And should I enable the SSL checkbox?
I had made the backups of subscription and of whole plesk too and migrate it to other server. It seems all to be fine, but I cannot send or receive emails In Tools & Settings -> Server-Wide Mail Settings - > Mail Queue I see all mails stored there. The IPs was changed yesterday, and now I can see that WHOIS Infos was chanfed too, the domains are online.
On old server I had no problem with sending of emails (post), it is stil on, because I had not by all domains changed the DNS-Records yet.
