Can You Put A Subdomain On A Different Server

I have a design client who's main site (eg. site.com) is currently hosted, let's say, at some-other-host.com. He wants to add a blog to his site. I could just set up a subdomain for it and be done with it, but for SEO purposes, I prefer to put his blog on my server which is a different IP.
So is there a way to put his blog, as a subdomain, on my server even though the main site is hosted elsewhere? Is there some magic that can be done in the DNS settings (cpanel/WHM) that can point to the files on my server? Or does he have to simply buy another domain for the blog?

Wordpress installation (WPML with 3rd level domain es. site. com, fr. site. com).
I need to redirect page from subdomain to a new subdomain
Example:
esp.site.com/oldpage -> es.site.com/newpage (different subdomain)
esp.site.com/oldpage1 -> es.site.com/newpage
esp.site.com/oldpage2 -> es.site.com/newpage
Source site is very chaotic and there are no clear rule for redirection (no regex )
So I need to redirect every page but syntax:
Redirect 301 esp.site.com/oldpage http:// es.site.com/newpage
doesn't work!
which is the correct syntax ?
Can I manage all from one .htaccess file in main root (www) or should I create "esp" directory (and point old subdomain to it - one for every language) and put .htaccess in every directory with redirection ?Â

i had searching in this forum and in google How to set Subdomain to other server, i had try some of methode but still not working, because i cant set A Name in godaddy, because i use other webhosting outside godaddy
i just have ip address from my other server, i want subdomain to go this ip address, for example 10.42.1.21

we have 2 VPS
vps 1 : install Direct Admin
VPS 2: install Kloxo ( LxAdmin)
IN VPS 1 we have Sub domain ( sub.site.com)
in VPS 2 : im set DNS in Kloxo => sub.site.com when i click in kloxo, Ipaddress /configur Domain
when i select sub domain ( sub.site.com )
show this error :
Alert: To map an IP to a domain, the domain must ping to the same IP, otherwise, the domain will stop working. The domain you are trying to map this IP to, doesn't resolve back to the IP, and so it cannot be set as the default domain for the IP.

I want to host a personal FTP server for myself and friends at home. I have 30Mbit/30Mbit unlimited optical fiber net with a static IP, so that isn't my problem. I also know how to setup the FTP on my computer.
The thing I need help with is the domain. How can I make files.mydomain.com be hosted at home while the main domain (and the other subdomains) is hosted by a host? I don't own the domain or a host yet, so I'm open for all options.

I have 2 domains as follows:
Domain1 on Server 1 = www.domain1.com
Domain2 on Server 2 = www.domain2.com (has a forum)
How can I configure subdomain.domain1.com, but to be on Server 2?
The idea of this exercise is to feel the visitors when they browse the forum that they are on same website/server.

If I create subdomain to point to a different folder on a different server, can I still keep the original URL?

I have a server running IIS that I have a primary website hosted on, let's call it...foo.com
So foo.com is hosted and setup through IIS, resolving fine. Now, I have created a site on a different server (not on the same network) to run a subdomain called 'local.foo.com'. How do I get IIS to point all traffic for local.foo.com to the IP of the server hosting the subdomain?
I tried adding a hostname to the primary domain in IIS through "Properties" > "Web Site" > "Advanced" but I am stilling getting the Invalid Request Bad Host Name error.

CentOS, LAMP, webmin.
I have ibeat.org running on one server.
Now I want to make a status subdomain on another server.
ibeat.org on one - status.ibeat.org on another.
I've edited the master zone on server one and added status.ibeat.org. and www.status.ibeat.org. ... and pointed it with A and CNAME to the other server and related IP...
I have also created the subdomain on the second server.
So my question is what should I do to get this working? This isn't!
I want to have a status link on the ibeat site ... and also:
... if server one with ibeat.org fails make it open status.ibeat.org?
Should be pretty simple - but can't get my head wrapped around it.

I have my myname.com and I'd like to forward home.myname.com to my home server IP.
I'm running Linux and Apache on both the server I lease (that has myname.com set up on) and on my home server (hopefully home.myname.com).
So far I've tried URL rewriting in .htaccess, which works, but it fowards to my IP in the browser's address bar- Id like to keep the address bar as home.myname.com.
I assume I have to modify the DNS zone for myname.com right?
I'm using bind on the leased server

Under namecheap I point this domain using nameserver ns1.*** and ns2.***
Now I must make this:
ms1.domain.com must point to server A
ms2.domain.com must point to server B
How I can set this at best?
Setting must be maked on namecheap (manage dns under namecheap)
OR
setting must be maked on WHM?*
* x example:
www.domain.com point to server A
into server A we must define ms1.domain.com to use local
AND
must define ms2.domain.com to point external to secon server (B)

I am using a cpanel for my site.
While I am not using the nameserver of the cpanel hosting for my site.
I am using a 3rd party DNS server to handle the DNS thing.
I directly point www/ftp/mail/... A records to my site hosting's IP address.
And everything works well.
But there is a problem, I don't know how to set up subdomain.
I created a subdomain with my site cpanel.
And it automatically created a root directory for the subdomain under /public_html. ( .../public_html/subdomain/)
But I don't know how to make the subdomain work.
How to set the DNS records to directly point my subdomain to its root directory on the hosting?
I tried to add a A record for my subdomain. But it only direct the subdomain to /public_html the main domain's root directory.
Untill now, the subdomain is still pointed to the same page as the main domain.

I currently own a few web hosting company's.
Where i seem to be having trouble is that i have allways used Reseller accounts to run my business. But recently this month i have purchased My own Servers.
I currently Own 9 Servers in total. So when it comes to Actual Server Managment im running into a brick wall lol
One of my business's invlolves Free web hosting.
And and I have been using one server for the free web hosting clients.
The problem is that sigle server is Maxed out I cannot add any more accounts to it withought jeperdising its stability.
This service Not only inlcudes Free domain hosting but sub domain hosting as well.
So now that you know a little background on what im doing heres the question
We use Client Exec as our billing and Auto Account Creation and we know its possible to Add multiple server to Client Exec and we can tell it to creat new accounts on anouther server But what hapends when someone wants a subdomain?
Its my understanding that subdomains can only reside on the server that the actual domain is being hosted. Is this right ? or is there a way to creat subdomains of a .com on anouther server where is not located...
Also i was wondering if it was possible to join servers together in one whm?
So under Ip Adresses we could just specify a new Ip & server would this work ?
I really need help fast since i get an average of 90 sighnups a day. and im sorry if theres a simple solution to this.. Im just new to actually owning my own hardware instead of using someone elses.
to me it just doesnt make any sence and i know it needs to be possible somehow ..

I am running a CentOS 6.5, 64-bit server with Plesk 12.0.18, and need to install a wildcard SSL for one of the domains/sub domains hosted on this server.
So you have the csr and private key installed (and domain.crt?), you just need to open..
1. COMODORSAAddTrustCA
2. COMODORSADomainValidationSecureServerCA
On your desktop and combine the two files into a new intermediate.crt file and upload that as the CA File.
But I'm not sure why you can't add it as text.

We're running Plesk 11.5 on a CentOS 6.5 VPS and we would like to resolve the following problem:
We've configured a physical subdomain, lets say sub1.mydomain.com, and set up a couple of aliases for that domain in Plesk under:
Web Server Settings for sub1.mydomain.com > Additional Apache directives > "Additional directives for HTTP"
Code:
ServerAlias mysub1.mydomain.com
ServerAlias mysub2.mydomain.com
And
Web Server Settings for sub1.mydomain.com > Additional Apache directives > "Additional directives for HTTPS"
Code:
ServerAlias mysub1.mydomain.com
ServerAlias mysub2.mydomain.com
This config is working fine until we try to load resources from the alias over ssl, I believe something is missing in the Nginx config. I'm not getting any info using the logs.
For example:
http://sub1.mydomain.com/img/myimage.jpg --> works!
https://sub1.mydomain.com/img/myimage.jpg --> works!
http://mysub1.mydomain.com/img/myimage.jpg --> works!
http://mysub1.mydomain.com/img/myimage.jpg --> not loading
http://mysub2.mydomain.com/img/myimage.jpg --> works!

Do we need to specify alternative directives for Nginx?

if you have a website with 2 or more servers
i have two server, both are using whm/cpanel
i had been pointing a subdomain.domain.com to the second server IP 111.222.333.444 in first server WHM "Edit DNS Zone", its already 48 hours now
now i can login the ftp subdomain.domain.com, its success to login to the ftp
but its still showing this message when open the subdomain site from browser

When I was with another host, they set it up so one of my subdomains had a static IP address, and I was able to use this for my SSL certificate. My new host (sharkspace) uses CPanel (other host used HELM) but it seems to me like CPanel could do this as well.
Does HELM have some feature that CPanel does not? How do I set this up? They are telling me that they cannot do this for a subdomain, and I cant afford to go buy a wildcard ssl certificate.
They also told me in the past that the only way to redirect a subdomain was using an iframe (when using the DNS Zone Editor was entirely doable) so im not exactly sure their staff has much of a clue going on,

Hi, i was wondering how i would be able to use a subdomain to "dyndns". By dyndns i mean how some people use no-ip.org or dyndns.org to hide their IP address. It doesnt only hide and "mask" but it's basically like being on a normal website, where the website actually changes for each page you go to. For example pretend i was using no-ip.org.
Pretend i dont have a domain and i host a website through my VPS
Instead of 123.456.78.9, i used no-ip.or and it was now website.no-ip.org. But it not only masks, if someone goes to index.php. It would be website.no-ip.org/index.php and if someone went to chat.php, their address bar would say website.no-ip.org/chat.php.
But is it possible to do this with a subdomain?
