DirectAdmin / Plesk Hosting - Enterprise Grade Spam Filtering A Plus
Aug 16, 2008
We have a variety of clients that we just put on various providers/platforms that we use for various reason. I've given up on HSphere though. I can see the versatility in this but I just don't have the time to invest learning the interface. What is a +++ though is HSphere platforms bundle in urchin--so for certain sites, we can turn urchin up on the fly.
Is there any hosts you guys recommend that have Enterprise grade email filtering. Part of the problem we have seen is just the level of spam filtering. Even with Pair, stuff was just coming through. For those with email in house -- great , as we just run the MX through Postini 1st and lock down SMTP on the FW side.
For some of our clients *with some minor hiccups* at times, we moved them to Google Apps. The spam filtering is just a +++ as much as I would like to get away from Google on the email. And yes, I am aware they own Postini now...
Back on to Webhosting.
I think we have found a couple of new guys to try
For nix based hosting, I'm planning to move some sites to Medialayer. Support or just various emails between them is very good !
For windows, we are debating. I have to reach out to Karl over at Steadfast and or Wiretree to inquire...but I'm leaning on a Plesk Windows Shared or VPS.
Usability is key on the CP and Cpanel/Plesk is just so much easier than Hsphere.
For the *email aspects* that's tied into any hosting provider, Mosso was interesting - BUT just looking at status.mosso.com was frighting.
We want to configure our PPA mail node to send all outbound mail through our spam filtering appliance but don't know where to start.
Reading standard Postfix docs give basic instructions on how to direct a handful of domains through a mail relay but we want to direct every outbound email from all domains through our spam filter.
We also want to ensure that any regular updates to the mail node won't break or undo this config.
I used to have a reseller account and have shifted everything to a dedicated server. I now find that a couple of clients are getting lots of spam when they didn't before.
It seems that the servers used by the reseller account had some level of basic spam filtering installed; my provider suggested I look for a filtering program to install on my server.
There are, of course, dozens of them, so I wondered if anyone has any experience - enough, perhaps, to make a recommendation.
decent spam filtering service that allows you to do multiple domains and charges on a per user basis (with most you have to have the same domain or you have to buy another license pack). Anyway I'm looking to spend around $1-3 per user
Does anybody know if GD filters email BEFORE it reaches my domain? It surely seems so. I recently moved to GD. I turned off spam filtering and don't receive any spam on accounts that used to receive a lot of spam. The only possible explanation is that they kill it before it reaches my domain.
if anyone may know of a server spam filtering product which has these features....
1. stops identified spam at the server and keeps it for a period of time eg 7 days before dumping it
2. forwards clean mail to end user
3. end user gets daily report via email of mail tagged and kept
4. clickable link in daily email report to 'release' mail and send it
5. auto whitelists released mail (ie adds it to bayesian database / whitelist addresses)
6. configurable to work with either individual end user, or with eg domain sysadmin (who can view / help see mail for all domain users)
7. can be either a hosted service, or server software product; although linux opensource server product would be good.....
8. not hugely expensive :-)
I have been using ASSP for quite some time; and like it's accuracy. So I suppose what ideally I'm looking for is ASSP with Bells and Whistles. On Cpanel I'm using grscripts ASSP deluxe, and this already has some great bells, but lacks a couple of the whistles I'd like (as above).
If anyone has ideas - or can point me to other threads (I did a search here already, but couldn't refine my search enough to find anything relevant)
I have SpamAssassin on my server, and I use email piping to forward incoming emails to a PHP script. I'd like to know if emails go through SpamAssassin before being piped, or if they don't go through SpamAssasin. Where exactly is SpamAssassin requested to scan emails?
We have a customer who has their own in-house Exchange server. The problem (don't ge me started!) is that they get a LOT of spam.
We've been looking for some kind of hosted barracuda service, but can't seem to find anything reasonably priced.
So... I'm thinking that maybe for a one-time setup fee we can help them find an Exchange admin who can set them up with Spam Assassin or some other *simple* but effective spam filtering system on their server.
I'm not sure if we're leaning on dedicated or VPS yet, but as a starter post, what's a webhoster you guys would recommend for a hosting company that is reliable and robust that we can scale with....as our requirements grow.
We're currently scripting how the new site will be redesigned, but there will be video blog portion that we expect to cheap up bw.
why is so hard to find free web hosting space with the DirectAdmin control panel. There are a lot of free web hosing companies who offers cpanel, but I was unable to find any hosting company that's offer free web hosting with DirectAdmin.
1.i have a free hosting company and i changed to Directadmin servers from Cpanel so this panel: www.fhm-script.com doesent work anymore its only for cpanel.
and i need something like Ipanel free any recommendations?
2. how can i open an option for free radio stations on my server with my ssh?
I find it easy to update softwares (PHP, MySQL, phpmyadmin, Apache, etc.) in Directadmin because they have integrated custombuild. I plan to try Plesk for the first time, what is the counterpart of custombuild in Plesk?
i want buy a vps i have these solutions : Solution one)Plesk as control panel - fully managed Solution two)Directadmin as Control panel - Unmanaged actually i know how manage a vps because i manage my servers around 3-4 yr but for some reason i do not have enough time maybe just do server setup and initial setup at first, so what is your idea which one do you offer? both data center are good and have good uptime ( i test them) but actually i pleased with first data center (plesk and fully managed)because with 4 yr i do not have any downtime but in second i have 3 times downtime in 3 yr,
Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 Panel version 11.0.9 Update #59, last updated at Oct 3, 2013 02:06 AM MailEnable version 5
I see in the plesk documentation that the screen to enable SPAM filtering for an individual there is an option to "Move spam to the Spam folder". I don't see that option so I am wondering if it is only available on some versions of Plesk, or in combination with certain mail servers. How to make that option available?
incompetent monkey that works as the "security" expert of my current dedicated server provider. He got a report from SpamCop regarding an email that was sent as if it was from an address of my domain, i.e the header looks like this:
From: <made-up-firstname-and-lastname>@www.mydomain.com [this alone looks fake] The rest of the header are addresses of various servers in Argentina and Germany that the mail bounced off, while my server is in America.
I'm trying to explain to this baboon that you can set the From field to be pretty much anything, but he still reckons that because when he visits the domain in the From field, it is my website and I should be responsible for the spam.
Is there any tip you guys have for dealing with people like this, at least to buy me enough time to organise a replacement server in case of an emergency cutover?
Sorry I'm pretty annoyed at having to deal with this after getting home from a great Friday night out. They're giving me 12h to resolve this BS.
I'm about to purchase several Dell R610 and R710 servers. Has anyone experience with iDRAC6 Enterprise? Is it worth the extra $349/server or would you recommend another KVM IP solution?
Hi, I'm going to open a site (visitors outside US) using tons of space and data transfer.
It's something need lots of space like file hosting (but most file less than 10 mb each)
So i need an affordable dedicated (or semi-dedicate) with less than $100 a month to host my site. Until it grow and i can move site to local provider (better speed, more expensive)
Currently i aimed to netfirms enterprise 2. it's $69 a month, 100 GB Space/2000 Data Trans.
Do you recommend this to me ? Or other's are better.
I am running a server with Windows Enterprise 2003 installed, it has 32GB RAM installed but in control panel I can only see 15.5GB RAM, I understand graphics cards etc will take some of the RAM so I suspect Windows is only seeing 16GB, instead of the installed 32GB, anyone any idea as to why I do not see all 32GB.
experienced people in Windows 2003 Server edition then me.
Now working for this client of mine seems they have much more problems then just a single hard drive issues as posted in another post.
Now they also have a Windows 2003 Server Enterprise Edition on their server, which is activated but their Product Key fails every time they try getting an update like SP1, etc...
Now, I'm guessing it's because their product key isn't the original or fake as they never purchased Windows 2003 but the tech they fired installed it any ways and got it working.
So I went out and purchased an Windows 2003 Server Enterprise Edition (OEM Version) as it's cheaper and I had to build a system recently so that worked out pretty well.
Anyways, using all of the tips on the internet to disable or deactivate windows worked well but when using the Activation Wizard and entering the new product key, it just comes back to the product key area again. So I've called Microsoft and the guy on the phone wasnt able to help me nor activate the windows.
Question:
Does anyone here have experience with Windows 2003 Server and would know why this is happening or know a fix?
Do I have to reinstall the OS?
If reinstalling, can I do it the same way as Windows XP that you select to install a new operating system, then select the partition, it detects the operating system on there and replaces the OS files only with the new ones but leaves everything in the same state, does something like this work or is available in Windows 2003 Server?
