why is so hard to find free web hosting space with the DirectAdmin control panel. There are a lot of free web hosing companies who offers cpanel, but I was unable to find any hosting company that's offer free web hosting with DirectAdmin.
1.i have a free hosting company and i changed to Directadmin servers from Cpanel so this panel: www.fhm-script.com doesent work anymore its only for cpanel.
and i need something like Ipanel free any recommendations?
2. how can i open an option for free radio stations on my server with my ssh?
We have a variety of clients that we just put on various providers/platforms that we use for various reason. I've given up on HSphere though. I can see the versatility in this but I just don't have the time to invest learning the interface. What is a +++ though is HSphere platforms bundle in urchin--so for certain sites, we can turn urchin up on the fly.
Is there any hosts you guys recommend that have Enterprise grade email filtering. Part of the problem we have seen is just the level of spam filtering. Even with Pair, stuff was just coming through. For those with email in house -- great , as we just run the MX through Postini 1st and lock down SMTP on the FW side.
For some of our clients *with some minor hiccups* at times, we moved them to Google Apps. The spam filtering is just a +++ as much as I would like to get away from Google on the email. And yes, I am aware they own Postini now...
Back on to Webhosting.
I think we have found a couple of new guys to try For nix based hosting, I'm planning to move some sites to Medialayer. Support or just various emails between them is very good !
For windows, we are debating. I have to reach out to Karl over at Steadfast and or Wiretree to inquire...but I'm leaning on a Plesk Windows Shared or VPS.
Usability is key on the CP and Cpanel/Plesk is just so much easier than Hsphere.
For the *email aspects* that's tied into any hosting provider, Mosso was interesting - BUT just looking at status.mosso.com was frighting.
On average, how much memory does cpanel use when compared to a standard directadmin setup?
I've never had a chance to use directadmin before, but I've been reading quite a bit about it around the web and that it uses much less memory than cpanel.
Anyone used both? Which is better for VPS hosting?
I have a direct admin server and I am planning to take backup of all the accounts in my DA server to my friend server. This is just for safety precautions.
I have heard that Direct Admin is much faster then cpanel & require much less resources then cpanel... I was just wondering if I get vps with 128 ram with Direct admin on it, would it be better than vps with 256 ram with cpanel installed... I am running 3 websites with almost 10 to 20 users at a time (at max 50).... I like both cpanel & directadmin but was thinking if 128 ram with DirectAdmin can give more speed on 128 then I won't spend more money on 256 with cpanel... If anybody have an opinion then please put it here...
I have a reseller account that is hosted at ns1 / ns2.mydomain.com and it is configured via cPanel / WHM and is accessed by mydomain.com
I recently purchased a dedicated server and would like the dedicated server to have a ns3 / ns4.mydomain.com I also would like that the dedicated server be accessed by another domain (other than mydomain.com). Is this possible?
If that is not possible, what way is a good way of doing this?
Has anyone done this or currently running this setup? to try it with my directadmin server first but havent found very good documentation or howtos. Ive looked the last week or so and havent really found anything helpful. So if anyone is running such a setup Id like to know how you did it and how much better if any it is.
I'm new to using directadmin and I've got a problem; I've not yet switched the DNS over to the directadmin server 'cause I want to make sure the sites work first, however I can't find how to view the sites. With cpanel you can go to http://192.168.1.1/~username (where 192.168.1.1 = IP of server and username is username of account). is this possible with directadmin? I can't find anything about it, anywhere.
My understanding is that if I join a webhosting company that operates the cPanel web control panel then my Outlook Express email program would get configured automatically.
However if the webhosting company were to be using DirectAdmin web control panel would I get the same benefit in this respect please?
Recently I stumbled along a host on here with a good rep and that uses direct admin.
Because they were very nice on the live support I signed up to see what direct admin was like.
Its very diferent from cpanel. Some parts seem to be harder to use like the phpmyadmin requires the username and password to the database you created not the control panel username and password like cpanel. Although I guess that could be a good security feature just in case some one gets into the control panel they can not get into the phpmyadmin, then again if they are smart and were able to get into the control panel they could get into ftp and look what the username and password is on the config file for the script you are using.
The bandwidth meter seems to be better in direct admin although I think its acting up for me as its putting yesterdays bandwidth on todays. I was told by the host that it updates every 2 hours and at first it did but now its gone to every day. Oh and unlike cpanel this bandwidth meter includes bandwith used by the control panel.
Niether one from what I can tell counts sftp though at least for the hosts I have right now.
I am receiving errors while executing domainname.com/cgi-bin/folder/filename.cgi files in directadmin. The error is Internal server error.
I have tried the below things,
./script.cgi : no errors found checked domain log : got premature end of script headers checked suexec log : No errors Checked the permission : all the files and folders under cgi-bin is 755
i just sign up a directadmin vps package, this is the direct admin that i saw once i login, is quite different from the direct admin that i normally saw, is this normal?
when i check with the support, they just tell me nothing is wrong and ask me if i wan they will just rebuild the vps, any one that using direct admin vps using this kind of interface?
Quite simple - does anybody know of any Directadmin resellers?
Me (and my customers) are used to directadmin so that is the control panel I would like to use on my servers. However not all hosts offer directadmin, and that means I would have to get it from directadmin.com myself.
The main 'issue' with this is pricing. Single licenses cost $29 per month. While a reseller can get the same license for a one-time fee of $49. That means turning a profit in 1.5 months when going that way instead of single licenses.
Does anybody know of a way to buy these one-time licenses? I am aware of the fact that they do not include support, that is fine.
74.63.67.146 - my main server. I have also configured my main domain to "own" this IP address and have installed an SSL cert. The domain and the cert work correctly but when you type in the IP address in, it shows "Apache is functioning normally".
74.63.67.147 - this is owned by a client. Same thing happens as above except that the domain name and the IP address point to the Apache message.
74.63.67.148 - this is the shared IP. Everything works correctly.
74.63.67.149 - this is another owned IP and it works correctly.
I know I should be asking DirectAdmin this question, but I do not want to wait until Monday. I want to know if DirectAdmin allows VMware VPSes on their VPS license. I know cPanel does.
