Bluehost Opinions?
Aug 21, 2009Based on my experience with their twin brand, Hostmonster, I would say that they should be just fine for a hobby site/playing around. I don't know about their support, as I didn't use it.

View 16 RepliesI signup bluehost early this month, i am very satisfied with bluehost hosting.
Bluehost established since 1996, and hosted more than 250,000 sites.
I had no problem of any until now, FTP access is reliable and fast, website is loaded fast, and no downtime detected yet.I also find their bluehostforum.com very useful in getting helps.
Bluehost $6.95 plan allow me to host up to 6 domains My domain i mentioning here is:
Time to time i perform speed test using hostpulse.com online test,

anyone had experienced with bluehost are welcome to post here
Not interested in reseller plans or any of that - strictly as a site for domain purchase and personal site hosting. I have them and am becoming very unsatisfied and looking for alternatives.

I did a search, and found mostly good things about solarVPS here. I want a little more re-assurance and hope that others that had good or bad experience with them can chip in on their VPS service.
I'm using Awardspace right now, but cannot say that I'm completely happy with them, mostly because of the downtime issues. It is up pretty much 99% of the time as they claim, but there are some issues with mysql database latency which from time to time make my site inaccessible, even thought the server is actually up.
Anybody else using this service ?
I'm talking about Awarspace paid, not free service
Any opinions about Superb.net?

I'm a non-techie trying to choose a dedicated hoster. From searching through reviews and prices, I've come down to Lunar Pages or Liquid Web. Would you please give me your opinions of these two, and if there are others that you feel strongly about instead, mention those as well? I would really appreciate it -- I'm very anxious about choosing a reliable company with good service, b/c I'll pretty much be at their mercy! (Life is hard for the non-technical
My programmer gave me these requirements: managed hosting, windows server 2003 or 2008, web edition, 2 GB ram, ms sql server 2005 or above, quad core processor from 1.8 - 2.4 ghz, firewall, automatic backup -- 10 GB, remote desktop connection.
who here has experience? Is it phenomenal or awful?
View 14 Replies View RelatedConsidering a dedicated box at Gigenet, as their configurations and prices look good. However, I don't know any customers there.
We're looking for a basic unmanaged box with decent latency to both coasts and non-idiotic people to respond to tickets.
I'm tired of waiting for my Slicehost (other providers seem capable of not needing a waiting list?) so I'm thinking of VPSFarm.
I've done a search on here but not found much bar a couple of mentions and some advertising from them.
new colocation provider, and so I've started a thread for each one that I'm seriously considering. I hope to draw on your collective experience to help me with this decision.
Anyone had any experience with Layer42 colocation in Santa Clara?
Thanks,

Some background on my requirements:
I'm looking for a single cabinet with 40amps and a pretty small bandwidth commit for now -- probably 1-2Mbps, but increasing to probably 20 early next year. I'd want 24x7 access, and really just need space, power, and network, not any managed services. I'm looking for a reliable provider with full redundancy throughout, good security, and a nice multihomed bandwidth mix on a single 100Mbps drop. I want to work with a stable company with a good reputation for constant uptime and good service.

I had the chance to work with the summit24 switches, and I personally liked them. It is straight-forward in my opinion for the Web Interface compared to others I have seen and the pricing seems to be reasonable.
I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with any of their switching devices.
What do you think about this cabinet style's ability to cool say 18-20 1U core 2 duo servers? [see attached jpeg.]
its got a fan in the ceiling of it. I have read that ceiling fans don't do much and its the front to back cooling that really makes a difference. Is this true?
If you don't like this type of cab, which type do you like?
I'm looking to get hosting and domain names.
Does anyone know anything bluehost.com, or are there any other hosts you'd recommend? (I don't need anything too expensive)
There seems to be a lot of negative press for bluehost... are they really that bad? Or was it a short period they went though? The bigger a service is, the more people there are so the higher the odds are of someone having a bad experience... have they really gone downhill?
View 14 Replies View RelatedSo when you got a website for a service and it says "$6 per month for 3 years" would you take that as they charge you monthly, $6?
Well Bluehost doesn't. They charged me $250 and I didn't realize what they were doing until the charge went through.
I called within 24 hours and spoke to billing. I cancelled the entire service. She said it was only a "hold" on my account and she would make the hold credit me back and it would be done within a few hours and that I would receive an email from her confirming. Well, I got another confirmation email NOT a we are cancelling the service email.
Then, one $250 charge dropped off... AND TWO MORE APPEARED.
In one of the confirmation emails they sent there was an email address for the help desk. So I emailed this to them. I am not speaking to them on the phone. I want it in writing this time. Two seconds after I sent the email I got an auto response telling me they don't read the email and I must formally put in a ticket.
I didn't think I would be able to since my account was supposed to be cancelled. Well, it did let me log in. She didn't cancel it and if she did she went and put it back in again twice.
DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM THESE PEOPLE.
I am looking into BlueHost.com and I was just wondering if her anyone here used it.
