Can't Access My Local Web Server By Its External IP
I have a local web server that I want to make available outside of my local network of two computers. I configured NAT at my router, configured the firewall. I Typed the external IP and got nothing, while I still was able to access my web server by typing "localhost", I tried both IIS and Apache, but what is interesting is that fact that the other people can access my web server via that external IP, I just cannot access it from my local network.

MySQL Stops Allowing External Connections
Recently I've upgraded my MySQL server. I connect to it via a conection from NIC to NIC (Internal IP addresses). Since the upgrade/format, I've managed to get everything back to the way it was. Everything works fine for 15-20 minutes. Then the PHP server can no longer access the MySQL server. I tried logging in from the PHP server, I get access denied. I then tried logging in locally, on the MySQL server and I get in fine... It's not like it's a firewall issue though, it's strange... I tried updating PHP/MySQL to a few releases, even the RC's to no avail... Something to note is that when I try restarting MySQL it can take 4-5 minutes, sometimes not even complete.

Recently, I keep getting an email from my dedicated server company (godaddy, plesk 8.2 windows) that I've reached my daily limit of 1000 emails when I only send like 20-40 a day max. Unable To Access Sites On Plesk Server
When trying to access any web sites or webmail on a plesk server i keep getting the following. Forbidden You don't have permission to access / on this server. Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. Nothing as far as i can see has changed on the server. I cant access plesk control panel due to network restrictions but have command line access. what could of caused this blanket ban? Cant see any changes in .htaccess files, but didnt think that plesk would affect these much anyway

Plesk For IIS7 Not Allowsing Access To Nuke Evolution Admin.php
having an odd issue with a nuke evolution install We have a windows 2008 server x64 running plesk 8.6. We created a user with complete access and under that user we created a nuke evolution website. I've setup a mysql user and assigned a password for it. When I try logging in to it with Quote: mysql -u USERNAME -p and then providing the password I get an error: Quote: ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'USERNAME'@'localhost' (using password: YES) I don't have trouble logging in as root and when I check the user table there, the password assigned to the user is same as the value the mysql function PASSWORD gives me. Allow Remote Mysql Access
I have a Ubuntu Lamp server setup in my building which is used for development purposes. So I also have phpmyadmin setup and am using a Mysql Query browser and Mysql Administrator desktop programs to administor the database on the server. However I am not able to connect to the server from my desktop. I am able to login to my myphpadmin but not able to login via the Mysql Query Browser program. Hopwing someone can help. I have read about port forwarding and also read a post about editing the my.cnf file on the server and changing the Bind-Address= 127.0.0.1 to the actual hostname but before I start editing the actual configuration files on the server I want to see if their is another way as I am worried that if I change the me.conf file that the phpmyadmin may stop working?

Fast MySql Access- Localhost
I've been using Dreamhost for years and they're very good, but their MySql databases are quite slow. Then I moved to ServInt with a VPS, and my MySql is on localhost instead of on a different server. WOW! It's so fast! However, now I'm trying to find a shared hosting package that has fast MySQL service. I'm not sure if the requirement is that it's on localhost but it sure doesn't hurt. MYSQL Gives Access Error After Server Move
I can't find any straight answers when searching Google. I've been stuck in a what has become a nightmare server move for about 2 weeks now. After finally getting a mysql.sock issue fixed I can get the MYSQL dbs over to the new server but it appears that their permissions need to be changed. Is there a way to handle this from the root level? I have roughly 120 dbs to process I am moving from a VPS to a dedicated server - both have root access.

MySQL: Access Denied For Root User
When I deleted a database, the user apparently was orphaned because when I tried to recreate it, it returned "user already exists". I've never encountered that problem although from Googling, I see others have and they delete the user to get around it. When I log into mysql using the da_admin@ account and attempt to remove the user with drop user <user_name>; I receive the following error message: ERROR 1227 (42000): Access denied; you need the CREATE USER privilege for this operation It seems I don't have rights even as the root user. How can I get remove the orphaned user?

Configuring Server To Handle Both MySQL And MS Access Databases
Since I have never worked on the server end of things I had a quick question for all you web hosting gurus. Is it possible to have PHP installed on ONE single server and still have the ability for the server to work with both MS Access AND MySQL at the same time? I would think YES, but I am being told by our server branch at my current job that this is not the case. They claim there is no way for the server on one machine to be able to handle both types of databases. Are they right? If they are wrong and it is possible to have one server run both type of databases, what steps would be necessary to set up the server to handle both types? Do we need to tweak the php.ini file or is there another method of allowing the server the ability to work with both MySQL and MS Access. Sorry if this question seems stupid or odd, as I said, I have minimal experience on the server end but I am confident that a server can handle both.

Upgrading Php & MySQL On A Plesk Win2K3 Server
I have a Win2003 dedicated server (with The Planet) that i use to host a large IPB forum site. I got it about 3yrs ago and as I was a complete newbie to server management I got Plesk CP installed so that it would take care of all the SQL, PHP and mail installation and setup in one easy go. I've since found Plesk for Windows to be a complete waste of space.. but it's still on there and has never been upgraded. I don't actually use it as a CP. Similarly PHP and mySQL have never been upgraded. Now I've got to the stage where, to upgrade the IPB forum software, I need to upgrade PHP and mySQL.. but looking at the installation, they seem to be embedded in the Plesk installation. They're inside the SWSoft/Plesk/ folders and none of the ini or config files appear to be in the places you'd expect them to be. My question - Would these upgrades be simple?? A case of just running an update package?? Or is the fact that PHP/mySQL are embedded in Plesk mean that it'll all mess up? I'm worried that a failed upgrade will knacker the forum, which is why I've delayed for so long.

Cheap Reliable Server That Can Run PHP/MySQL With Plesk
I currently have a decent server that runs around 10 websites, but 1 of those sites contributes around 99% of the total traffic. This large site is being moved onto a new server, leaving the remaining 9 sites rattling around on this big (and expensive!) server. So, I am now looking for a smaller server to handle the other smaller sites. They get minimal traffic - around 5k uniques a day.

VPS Incredibly Slow, Huge Numbers Of Slow MySQL Queries For Plesk/Watchdog
I've got 25 domains on a Virtuozzo/Plesk8.6/CentOS5 VPS. Each domain has one up-to-date install of WordPress, most have very little traffic (average 200mb per month), maybe 2 domains get 5-7gb traffic per month. I monitor port 80 connections and rarely see more than 10 at a time. That should in my opinion be no problem at all for a VPS with 768mb guaranteed ram and 2.4ghz cpu. I've got 30gb hard drive spare too. But.... about 8 or 10 times a day it grinds to a complete halt: server load at 500-1000%, sites timing out, plesk takes 3mins to load, often I can't even connect with SSH, and the plesk web server, apache INSERT INTO module_watchdog_sys_stat (time, type, value, service_id) VALUES(FROM_UNIXTIME(1226404705), 'MAINMEM_USAGE', 17472, 11); 80 seconds sounds like a huge amount of time for a MySQL insert to me! Does anyone know if this is likely to be the cause of my trouble? Some problem with Plesk and the database? Or could it be something else?

IIS 5 - Cant Access Page From IE7 But Can Access From Firefox
I found a great little app called ID Shutdown Manager which bascially lets you do stuff like wake on LAN, Shutdown, Log Off etc. The App also has a cgi script which you can call from a web server so you get a web interface to the program. This is exactly my reason for getting the app as I just wanted to host a web page where I could login from the internet and wake on lan my media PC. Ok so... The app gives you all the iis or apache setup instructions and tells you to place the cgi script which is actually a .exe into the scripts folder and then enable basic authentication for it. Done. So if I navigate to <SERVER>/scripts/sdmancgi.exe its supposed to give me a user / pass prompt and then when login successful I see the app and can wake on lan etc. ok I have got this to work on the actual machine where server is running I can access it in IE7 by localhost etc.. and it works However when I try to access from another PC in my lan by typing <SERVER>/scripts/sdmancgi.exe I get a nice little message saying the content cannot be displayed you may require to insall a program or something to display it. If I try to access the page from firefox on same remote PC, it works! I can also access page from outside my LAN, it works on my N95 browser. Also I have had friends try it from firefox from the Internet and they say it works as well. Forgot to mention I am running on port 8081 as I already have other servers running on 8080 and 80 (one is my router and the other server installed itself from setup.exe and I dont know what server its using) I have also tried latest apache server as well as some other free one. Both have the same effect. Ok in firefox, not in IE. One would think its a problem with the cgi file not compatible with IE7 however, I even tried to go to default page setup in IIS <SERVER>:8081 and I get the same message. So at this point the server hasnt even tried to access CGI or prompt for Basic Authentication. I tried googling and not much luck. I read something about CSS and when I view source of failed web page from IE7 it mentions something about CSS so dont know if this is it?

I have successfully installed dns only to my vps. the problem is when i try to add it to the cluster system on my other vps it asks for a remote access key, so i visit both ip:2087/scripts/setrhash and ip:2086/scripts/setrhash and it shows an unable to connect error in firefox. this is both using [url] does anyone know how i can access the remote access key?

I am an IT manager at a small company. Currently we host an ASP.net based web application (on an IIS server) that we do most of our business on. It was grown in house and uses our MS SQL server. We are looking at expanding this application within the next few months, and I need it to be "bulletproof", as in almost zero downtime. The website also references and pulls up scanned documents that we have on a NAS server. Currently it is around 300 gig worth of documents, but expanding around 200 gig a year. Ultimately, I would like this to be hosted someplace where there is a constant backup of the SQL and website. And someplace I don't have to worry about the hardware, because I am a one man operation and don't have all the needed experience to deal with the web application. would it be beneficial for me to host the scanned documents onsite, and have a hosted solution reference them back at our HQ? I could put them in a DMZ or something like that.

I have a hosting provider who cannot provide enough ram to run my one time PHP script (gallery2) (and has a automatic background program kill my task) So I would like to use processing and ram outside of that server.. via one of my other web servers.. (Dual 1 Ghz, 1 gb of ram) the thing is that the servers got plenty of power but not as much space.. So the ideal solution.. would be to utilize it's power while having it access the hard drive/data remotely and processing it remotely... using the internet/ssh to do this.. Does anyone first off know that this is possible? 2ndly what would be some of the commands?

have a few different list of links in my link section for eg one page i give people links to about 20 or so games company where they can buy from. another has a small list of forums people can join eg, another list of places that i shop at.i do not have any reciprocal links with any of them and only included them cos i thought it would be handy for my readers. now can i leave the links or should i take it all off because all these external links would not help in my pr? there seems to be so many conflicting opinions how many external links can you have in a page before it's bad for you. idea to just use robots.txt on all these pages to be on the safe side?

i got plesk 8.0, and trying to update with the updater to more recent versions. updating fails. I tried with incremental updates (8.0 > 8.1 > 8.2 etc.), but it never works. External Pop Email
One of my customer using google apps for his domain. He also fetch external emails using google mail solution. Problem is all of his email accounts email fetched but his ISP email give error. I check and found if he didn't use that ISP, Outlook also not check email and give error. Only he can check email when he logon on net with that ISP. on webmail he can check using ISP site. Any other webmail services provider like mail2web.com not able to check emails. Can any one recommend how I can bypass their ISP restriction security.

Traffic From External Subnets
I've got a few colocated servers hooked up to a 3COM switch. When I looked at the MRTG for the ports, I noticed that all the ports had a similar inbound traffic graphing. Thinking that something was amiss, I sniffed the port and found that I was seeing a lot of traffic from different subnets (could even see pop3 passwords!). Now, I contacted the IDC and they said that this was normal, and that that was how their network was configured (I did tell them that other IDCs didn't have this issue). I think something's not right somewhere. And assuming that the IDC won't fix this issue, I don't want to have constant 1Mbps of inbound traffic that I don't even use.
