How To Use External CPanel Mysql In Another CPanel Server
I have 2 servers both have cpanel. I want to use 2nd server's mysql in my site which is on 1st server. I think thats not that hard. I don't wanna do clustering as this is temproary.

CPanel Multiple Network Adaptors (1 External, 1 Internal)
We currently have two dedicated servers connected to each other with a crossover cable, and each one also has its own external connection. One is running Server 2k3, one is running CentOS with cPanel. What we want to do is configure the so they can run backups to each other through the crossover cable, saving our bandwidth On the windows machine we have configured it with a static IP of 192.168.0.1 and subnet of 255.255.255.0. This works fine and the machine is running well, on the cPanel machine, when configuring eth1, like so: HWADDR=**:**:**:**:**:** DEVICE=eth1 BOOTPROTO=none ONBOOT=yes NETMASK=255.255.255.0 IPADDR=192.168.0.2 USERCTL=no the windows and cpanel machines can talk to each other fine through the crossover cable (pinging 192.168.0.1 + 2) but then the cPanel machine becomes unaccessable externally, i.e. ping requests time out and no websites on it can be hosted untill eth1 is disabled and the server rebooted.

Parking An External 3rd Level Domain In CPanel
How to add an external third level domain to cPanel? For example, my main domain at cPanel is one.com, so I can easily add subdomains like second.one.com, third.one.com etc. But what I need is to point first.two.com to my hosting. I'm a customer, not the server administrator. A two.com owner has already configured my server's IP in the two.com zone file for that subdomain. MySQL Keeps Down (Cpanel Server)
I have a Cpanel server with a problem: SQL keeps failing Everytime I try to restart MySQL via WHM, it gives me: /usr/bin/mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed error: 'Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (111)' Check that mysqld is running and that the socket: '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' exists! mysql has failed, please contact the sysadmin (result was "mysql has failed"). I can only restart it successfully after 2nd attempt. Server load is always low. Memory usage is also low. It happens in very short interval (in less than every 1-10 minutes) It never happens until recently when my server management company tweak something I didn't know. They said fixed it and then it happens again every minutes. I have 9 servers and it never happens to the rest 8 servers. Just this server always happening.

I accidentally clicked upgrade to 5.0 from 4.1 in Cpanel. Then I ran the update to latest version. EVERYTHING BROKE! Copying Mysql Db In Cpanel
is there a way to copy mysql from an existing db, and then renaming it to another name? I would like to copy my current db from a live forum site, and because I got a test forum but I need that test forum to use my current live db...but i want it to use a copy of the live db. The db has to be a different name for the test site. Sorry hard for me to explain. Is there an easy way to do that? I would do it via cpanel backup and upload but the db is 2gb's gzip.... I can do it via ssh or whm as well.

CPanel MySQL/Clamav
A few weeks ago I installed clamav using the cPanel "Manage Plug-Ins". It all seemed fine but my server load kept going ridiculously high. I couldn't work out what was wrong until I managed to get a ps aux when it was very high and found that clamd was using ridiculous amounts of memory/cpu. It's not such a big deal having it on my server, so I decide to uninstall it. After uninstalling it, MySQL started to randomly turn off regularly (around every 30 minutes). I tried forcing a cPanel update, updating the MySQL files, reinstalling MySQL, etc. but nothing has seemed to fix it. So as a last resort, I've reinstalled Clamav and now my MySQL is fine but my server load keeps going ridiculously high again; causing problems still. Has anyone/cPanel ever experienced this problem? I need to find a solution as almost every account on my server uses MySQL as a basis for their website, so I can't have it going down even for less than a minute.

Upgrading To MySQL 5 On CPanel
I would like to start offering MySQL 5 on all my shared hosting accounts, seeing how it's an increasingly requested feature. However, by my understanding most applications still require MySQL 4 to operate (am particularly concerned with those bundled with Fantastico). I would like my current clients to be able to continue working with these older apps using MySQL 4 while allowing new clients to make use of the latest features available with MySQL 5. I would like to get people's opinions as to what the best approach would be here. Should I upgrade directly to MySQL 5, offer both versions 4 and 5 simultaneously, or just stick to version 4 until version 5 is better supported? If I choose to install both versions in parallel, is this an easily supported option with CPanel/WHM? Will the configuration change break anything for clients already using applications with MySQL 4?

The automatic backups you can setup in cpanel/whm bundle the entire user account. Is it possible for it to save everything except the mysql databases? I have an account that has databases over 5GB+ and would like to handle backing those up separately.

Corrupted MySQL Backups CPanel
Just a warning to all other hosts out there using cPanel it currently generates corrupted mysql backups due to a bug in their pkgacct script which has been like this for over 6 days now. [url] So for anyone out there it's an easy fix. Of course not every host is doing it so the fun of helping a customer migrate data and explain to them that their hosts backups being made are all corrupted is lots of fun. Sort of sad but I've been told this isn't a critical enough issue to even push it out to all versions. Right now it makes a great lock in so customers cannot switch providers without a lot more work.

CPanel Just Setup, Doesn't Want To Update Mysql
I finally broke down and just got a cPanel license to fix my multiple account problems, and had it installed... But now I have a problem that I can't seem to fix - MySql won't update to 4.1.21, its stuck at 4.1.18 which means I can't use PHP 5+... I can't update to MySQL 5.0+ because my databases (Which I have yet to move over) are 4.1 and should probably stay 4.1 until I know for sure it won't break anything. Does anyone know whats going on and how I can fix this? I've tried "/scripts/mysqlup" and "/scripts/upcp --force", as well as Apache update in WHM, and manual cPanel update in WHM. CPanel DNS Only, Now Cant Install PHP, MySQL Etc
i am running a VPS and recently installed cPanel DNS Only so it can operate as a standalone DNS server. I would also like to serve standard webpages on it via apache and php, i therefore tired to install php, mysql etc via 'yum install php' but it says there is no package to be installed. A have set up a cpanel with remote mysql server. My demo config: cpanel: centos VPS with cpanel WHM (demo) mysql: debian VPS the configuration is OK, it works. We have got 200 customers, and we will to change to cpanel. The MYSQL server is on a solaris zone. It is possible to make the remote connecting with it. Mysql User Privilege Changed By Cpanel Or What
I am using Cpanel. One Cpanel account is backup. I use it to backup my database. Under mysql, I gave this account ( backup ) many priviledges. But when the backup script ran, error said that backup account can not 'lock table'. I gave "lock table' priviledge again and run the script, it is ok. But after a while, when the script ran autmatically on daily basis, it lost the 'lock table' priviledge again. I wonder if Cpanel is messing me up? What can I do about it? anyone knows?

Remote MYSQL (cPanel) Small Error
I have create a remote mysql database in whm for another server on my network. Now my problem is that the remote mysql in fact works as the data is still being pulled from it with mysql disabled on the main server. I did however put in the root password during the remote mysql server setup. Now the only problem I seem to be having is the databases dont show up in any cpanel accounts and phpmyadmin doesnt work. but all sites using a database made before this change still work.

I suspect people asking about tips on good hosters all the time here, and I'm no different. But I can start off with the basic req. that might narrow it a tad atleast. - - - - - - - 1 : Cpanel; w.cpanel.net en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CPanel This is the first basic req. I have. I myself are not the most skilled coder in the world, nor is the others around me and we like Cpanel since it "saves" us from confusion very often. - - - - - - - 2 : Script php / mySQL friendly; We use CMS scripts (MXP, Joomla, e107, etc) for our communities and forum scripts (phpbb, vBulletin, etc) at all times. So a good loading time is a must, nothing is as devestating for a communitie than a slooow forum. - - - - - - - 3 : And the regular ; BIG and cheap. We just doing noncommercial / fun / silly projects / communities so it needs to be cheap and with a good size. Have some photographers + communities with albums and that eats up a good chunk of webspace after awhile. - - - - - - - - We greatly appriciate any tips on hosters that covers this. Support don't have to superfast, we pretty relaxed when it comes to that, but the other reqs. is needed. If you know or even better USE a hoster like this please let us know. We badly need one at the moment. I'm trying to optimize a server (Intel E8300) with 8Gb of RAM and WHM/cPanel administration panel. Now the server has only 46 accounts in WHM, and about 10.000 unique visitors / day As mysql is always on top for CPU ussage I have edited 2 values in my.cnf, but this was done in 10 minutes and not to much research, any more help will be appreciated. On this server as I see it's been using MyISAM for storage engine and maybe just a few tabels with InnoDB ....

Does a external mysql use a lot of bandwidth? On one of my sites, mysql uses most of the resources of the dedicated server. I'm thinking of putting multiple mysql servers at home and the rest in the data centre. Having mysql servers at home does not require much bandwidth does it? would a dsl line work ok?

CPanel Horde Vulnerability Found - Update Your CPanel
An arbitrary file inclusion vulnerability has been discovered in the Horde webmail application. At present, we can confirm that this security vulnerability in question affects Horde 3.1.6 and earlier. Based on incomplete information at this time, we also believe this affects Horde Groupware 1.0.4 and earlier as well (cPanel does not use Horde Groupware at this time). cPanel customers should update their cPanel and WHM servers immediately to prevent any chance of compromise. The patch will be available in builds 11.18.2 and greater (or 11.19.2 and greater for EDGE systems). The updated builds will be available immediately to all fast update servers. The builds will be available to all other update servers within one hour of this posting. To check which version of cPanel and WHM is on your server, simply log into WebHost Manager (WHM) and look in the top right corner, or execute the following command from the command line as root: /usr/local/cpanel/cpanel -V You can upgrade your server by navigating to 'cPanel' -> 'Upgrade to Latest Version' in WebHost Manager or by executing the following from the command line as root: /scripts/upcp It is recommended that all use of Horde 3.1.6 and earlier be stopped (on cPanel and non-cPanel systems alike) until Horde updates can be applied. You can disable Horde on your cPanel system by unchecking the box next to 'Server Configuration' -> 'Tweak Settings' -> 'Mail' -> 'Horde Webmail' within WHM, and saving the page with the new settings.

MySQL Stops Allowing External Connections
Recently I've upgraded my MySQL server. I connect to it via a conection from NIC to NIC (Internal IP addresses). Since the upgrade/format, I've managed to get everything back to the way it was. Everything works fine for 15-20 minutes. Then the PHP server can no longer access the MySQL server. I tried logging in from the PHP server, I get access denied. I then tried logging in locally, on the MySQL server and I get in fine... It's not like it's a firewall issue though, it's strange... I tried updating PHP/MySQL to a few releases, even the RC's to no avail... Something to note is that when I try restarting MySQL it can take 4-5 minutes, sometimes not even complete.

I am doing the transfer manually because we are gradually moving different part of the site at one time to allow developers to work on new parts. Cpanel Domain Name Server (DNS) Setting For Email On 2 Seperate Server
This is the scenario, domain.com are setup on server1, however server2 also has the same profile of domain.com as we use ns3 and ns4 using domain.com. This works fine with the nameserver setup on server2. However I encounter problems as the emails from server2 won't reach server1 as there are duplicate profile on server2. My question is how do I setup the DNS in cpanel/whm from server2 so the emails from server2 will reach server1? ClamAV On A CPanel Server
I've got ClamAV installed on my cPanel (Dedicated) server with a single site and would am having trouble setting up ClamAV to scan emails. I installed it via WHM and have set it up in WHM to scan all items. Ie: WHM -> Plugins -> Configure ClamAV Scanner -> Scan ALL items After doing a few manual scans however (using 'clamscan -ri') I'm finding infections in the account mail folder. 1. Is there a good guide to setting up ClamAV on a cPanel serve do do automatic mail scanning? I was under the impression that ClamAV scans emails also however after doing some reading people seem to recommend MailScanner. 2. My logwatch is giving me the following error. The ClamAV update process (freshclam daemon) was not running! If you no longer wish to run freshclam, deleting the freshclam.log file will suppress this error message. The freshclam daemon wasn't running so I've started it (freshclam --daemon). I've also checked the freshclam.conf file and the logrile is set as follows: UpdateLogFile /var/log/freshclam.log

I've had some people trying to sell me dedicated recently with cpanel for €30, unbelievable that too with core duo 2.ghz, 100mbps unmetered, 250 gb, ofcourse i said no but strangely they were offering cpanel with it. Now that is unbeilievable, when i asked what cpanel, they said they installed Cpanel VPS on it. It was quite astonished there and they said it was common practice. CPanel Crashes My Server
I have remote uptime tracking on my server, and I am regularly getting text messages and emails regarding my server going down. This in itself isn't odd, however the fact is, everytime the problem is cPanel. I log into my PC and find an email from my server and it contains the following; Quote: cpsrvd failed @ Thu Aug 7 19:11:17 2008. A restart was attempted automagically. SpamD Server Without Using CPanel
It may have already been covered, but i have searched and cannot find a solution to the following. I have a few Shared hosting servers using Cpanel. The biggest use of resource is spamd. Is there a way of setting up a spamd server, ie not using Cpanel so that this server purely does the spam checking then passes it back to which ever Cpanel server it came from. I have done this using postfix, but I'm new to the whole exim / Cpanel thing.
